The long awaited judgement in the case where former president Frederick Chiluba is charged with corruption has again been adjourned to Monday. The Judgment was initially set for July 20th before being moved to today Friday the 14th.
State Prosecutor Mutembo Nchito said the reason of the delay was not clear. He told the media that he did not know why the judge is not ready for the case and he is going to learn about the details.
And Chiluba’s spokesman Emmanuel Mwamba echoed the same sentiments. Mr Mwanba told the media that the judgement was deferred because Ndola High Court deputy registrar Johns Chinyama, who is sitting as magistrate in the Chiluba case, had indicated that he was not ready to pass the judgment yet.
“He called all the lawyers to his chambers and announced that he was not yet ready. So we don’t know what that means, if it’s him who is not ready or the judgment. He just said I am not yet ready,” Mwamba said.
Scores of people and Chiluba’s family members this morning came to the magistrate’s court to witness the landmark judgment involving the former Republican president.
Chiluba is charged with Access Financial Services Limited director Faustine Kabwe and Aaron Chungu with the theft of public resources totalling several millions of dollars.
May be they should let FTJ go free. I bet the Nchitos and other lawyers have profited more than the $500,000 they are trying Chiluba for.

Let the Govt disclose how much they have spent on these cases. Dont be surprised if its in $millions. How else did the Nchitos buy planes for their airlines. These corruption cases have not be worth anything to Zambians. The winners are lawyers. Ordinary Zambians have gained nothing. The money is gone and we have paid lawyers to tells us the amount.

What procedures and processes has Zambia put in place to make sure that a sitting president does not steal again. Shall we wait for RB to be out of office for us to find out? Much as it exciting to see people prosecuted, preventing the crimes happening is a much cheaper way to go and Zambia will be saved a lot of money. It is very difficult to retrieve stolen money, as we can see from Kapoko’s case.
So what if Chiluba is jailed or not. What does that do for a poor chap. It’s only beneficial if the money is retrived alongside the punishment. Unless we are getting the money back, we are failing in this corruption thing. And the buck stops at teh President. He has an overall view of the workings of all arms of Govt. We elect him to safeguard our asserts. Zambian wealth.
Chiluba sung Banda’s song during the elections, he is about to be rewarded for singing out loud with an aqquital or a suspended sentence.
Those in the know say the renovations at Lusaka central prison (Chimbokaila –VIP section) are not yet completed. As soon as they are done FTJ will be sentenced.

Are they saying this is the only case Chiluba is facing, or it’s just one of the many cases. The Nchitos have made a fortune in the name of probbing the FTJ and friends. In other words the govt. is spending a dollar to retrieve a pence, which to me doesnt make any sense.
RB knows people will lose confidence in him once Chiluba is set free, so the issue here is to try and mend all the lose ends before declaring him a free man. Its called “Stinking Politics” (I fart, you smile kind of thing)

The judgement is ready but RB has not okayed meaning, if it is a guilty verdict, then the appeal should be ready and bail granted in advance because Chiluba is too special in RB’s eyes to warrant a prison stay not even for an hour. What a corrupt country with corrupt, morally bankrupt politicians like RB. May be it is time we went to a one party inner democratic system where people compete for presidency, and every other position within the party. The situation in the feelings of the Judge is unprecedented or unmatched. What should a Judge do in such circumstances, he must just pass judgement and get the name, the EXCEPTIONAL JUDGE or the UNPARALLELED JUDGE.

Unless we look at the cost/benefit analysis of these corruption cases, we will be chasing FTJ, Kapoko et al while the Nchitos, RB, and all those ministers are dipping their fingures in our coffers. We must not do things blindly. Many schools and clinics could have been built from the money spent on these cases. In future lawyers should only be paid from the retrieved money.
In this case how much have the Nchitos et al retrieved and how much has Zambia paid them for that. Those who are clever could be using these same cases to enrich themselves, while the masses blindly shout crucify them, meanwhile the rot continues. Imagine FTJ case takes 7 years, in that time Kapoko et al pockets Kbillions. Chasing the wind.

Infact from some rsources and even observation stealing of public sources was sources was even more rampant in the New Deal Adminstration and Nchito was a beneficiary. I bet you if Levy was alive that Zambian Airways wouldn’t have gone under because Levy would have commanded that money be put there because he was a share holder together with Nchito and Member. In London court chiluba was proved guilty, in Zambian courts chiluba is still free, the law pa zed is meant for the poor and thats why corruption will never end in zambia.

#58, the London case was a civil case. The Zambian case is a criminal one. The burden of proof in a civil case is less than that in a criminal case. Thus one may be found culpable in a civil court but not guilty in a criminal trial for the same alleged offence.
If Chiluba is set free on Monday, that will be the end of the judiciary in Zambia. Banda and Sakala, if this is what they are planning, will be shacked by the reaction that such an engineered move will spark. Zambians can be lerthagic to a point of stupidity sometimes but on this case, Banda will be literally playing with fire if like he did with Phillip Musonda over Dora he forces Chinyama to free that devil’s envoy to Zambia. Enough is enough.
Chiluba and all the people accused have been acquited, the prosecution has failed to prove they are guilty of any wrong doing “beyond reasonable doubt” and hence the court has set them free. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO SAY? YOU WILL MURMUR FOR AFEW DAYS , THEN LIFE CONTINUES..That is Zambia i know.the signs are there to see..
