PF-UPND pact is a useless undertaking- George Kunda

Share

Vice President George Kunda has castigated the Patriotic Front/United Party for National Development (PF/UPND) pact, describing it as a useless undertaking that is doomed to fail.

And Southern Province Minister Daniel Munkombwe has said the opposition political parties could not obliterate the achievements that the MMD government has scored so far in the country.

Speaking on arrival at the Livingstone International Airport this morning, Mr. Kunda said the pact was not on the ground but only between PF president, Michael Sata and UPND president, Hakainde Hichilema.
He alleged that the two presidents had been campaigning independently wherever they had gone to for the 2011 elections.

“Sata was campaigning for himself in Chitambo and HH was also campaigning for himself in Southern and Western provinces.
The vice president said the two leaders are simply cheating each other adding that MMD is the party of the future.

Mr Kunda called on the nation to support Rupiah Banda’s leadership for continuity and development.

“President Rubiah Banda cares for the country. Support him because he is not selfish. Support his candidature in the 2011 election,” he said.

And Southern Province Minister, Daniel Munkombwe has said the opposition political parties could not obliterate the achievements that the MMD government has scored in the country so far.

Mr Munkombwe who commended Chitambo MMD members for retaining the seat said the MMD party had scored much achievement at national level.

Referring to Southern Province which is a UPND party strong hold, Mr Munkombwe said the MMD has continued to gain support despite losing yesterday’s election in Maramba ward to a PF/UPND candidate.

“The gap is narrowing in Southern Province as MMD is gaining support with an impressive margin,” he said.

He however urged MMD members to organize themselves in order to dislodge the opposition political parties prior to the 2011 election.

  1. Kunda and Daniel should not dismiss the PF/UPND pact as weak. Its very difficult to win a by election. General election has a different pattern as the strength of the ruling part will be thinnly spread as each candidate including RB will be fighting for a vitory as an individual. It will Sara Sayifwanda in Zambezi East. George in Muchinga, Sichilima in Northen.GRZ and personal resources will be scattered around the country. The pact will spring a surprise. Just wait and see.

  2. Congrats to MMD for one victory and congrats to PF and UPND for the baptism in the by elections. For now am just patiently waiting for Teta’s death

  3. This by election victory for MMD is not the reflection of what the grassroots coutry wide need,it is only constinuecy in serenje, but what PF/UPND pact have is the really victory as it reflects diverse locations-From Livingstone down and up north, It is PF/UPND Pact which should celebrate as they have scored and won the really foundations for any given relection. it is at the ward level, it is these same wards that make up the constinuecy, even in science the most important part of the human body are cells, without cells,no human body, therefore without wards MMD is doomed.
    VIVA PF/UPND .

  4. I personally think that MMD is the party which USELESS in Zambia?? Because it is the only minority party in Government through out Southern africa!

  5. HAVE NEVER SEEN A VICE PRESIDENT WHO DON’T SIZE. KUNDA ALL THE SUITS ARE OVER SIZE. KUNDA WE CHIPUBAWE. UBWAMBA NGA DONKEY.

  6. The VP is daring the opposition. He is inciting the pact to become stronger that it is now and wait and see if it can wallop MMD in 2011. He could be implying MMD is in the Heavyweight category and the PF/UPND Pact is in Featherweight class and it is impossible for them to in one year to come become heavyweights. And being Chief Justice he won’t allow them to use steroids in trying to accelarate their political growth. PF/UPND sought out the challenge.

  7. PLEASE MWE BANTU KU CHITAMBO THESE MMD GUYS ARE CHEATING YOU AND THERE IS NOTHING HAPPENING IN ZAMBIA. IF YOU GIVE UBUNGA ONLY LAST FOR A WEEK. WE NEED DEVELOPMENT IN OUT COUNTRY. Public funds are not meant to support universities that produce arsonists and terrorist but intellectually responsible citizens. In a seperating system, vet and purge arsonists and terrorists from responsible hardworking students.Commit returning students to conditional contract reinstatement.let those arsonists and terrorists find their way somewhere else.Blacklist them for life from all public opportunities from Business, jobs to integration excerpt reformation centers.Realising a just society comes with responsibility.
