The Zambia national team made a low profile return back home at midday today following their London debacle on Wednesday.
Apart from the noticeable figures of the technicial team trooping to the Lusaka International Airport terminal building, all the six players who returned home today caught the waiting press off guard.
They all discarded of their standard issue Zambia kit and were instead in personal gear for the home-bound trip and “embedded” themselves amongst the passengers as they disembarked off the plane from Johannesburg.
And very calm coach Herve Renard politely declined to give any press statements for the time being until he had met with Faz officials.
Renard stated that he could only speak at an appropriate time sometime next week.
Meanwhile, the six players that returned home included two foreign-based players namely Given Singuluma and Fwayo Tembo of TP Mazembe and Etoile du Sahel of DR Congo and Tunisia respectively.
Emmanuel Mayuka and William Njobvu have flown back to their clubs in Israel while Jonas Sakuwaha and Hichani Himoonde both flew to Sudan to linkup with Zesco United ahead of the Saturday evenings Caf African Champions League Group A away fixture against El Merreikh.

Welcome back …sore losers!
They came back too fast. What did they go there for? Up to now I cant see it.
I was at the match…Chipolopolo did some good moves but need to work on their defence and goal keeping. But the guys only arrived in London the morning of the match and some were even late for the match! Such potential but they need the funds and comitment from FAZ
Ba Harve together with FAZ should resign. The FAZ has made football as Akalilo. They dont care whether we lose for as long as they have amassed enough nchekelako from players who can not perform.
The whole London trip iz a scandle. Somebody somewhere must explain!
Garbagein, garbage out. Miracles only happened during the time of Jesus Christ.
Zuluman am with you. on the other hand fact is we will not go to the world cup if we did I would be disappointed. I know you thinking what? Missing out of the world cup is better than going there to make up the numbers and fulfill the fixtures. get beaten 8-1, 7-1 and 4-0. people would never forget a dismal performance than they would if you did not qualify. Africa cup is enough for Zambia with the quagmire we are in.
This is not the end of the world, ba Zambia. We can’t win ’em all and we can’t loose ’em all. We must pick ourselves up from the ashes , dust ourselves up and start all over again. If we win the next game, the London disaster will be history.
Was at the match. We supporters were outnumbered 20 to 1 by the Ghana support. Sure that did not help. Sad that they resorted to using amateurs against the premiership players.
The problem with Zambia is that we are not serious about anything we pretend we can afford to camp out in European countries and hire expatriate coach’s who fail to produce the required results. The only time Zambia was ever serious about soccer was after the Gabon disaster. In all honesty I love Zambia but I hope Egypt represents Africa at the world cup simply because Zambia has not been serious enough with preparations. We don’t deserve to go to the world cup .
What I find most hurtful about this disastrous trip to the UK is that it took place at the same time that FAZ executive was wining and dining at Kalu’s weeding. It is very difficult not to blame the poor showing on the fact that the whole executive where distracted and found it more important to be in Joburg of the wedding instead of organizing and planning for the friendly much against Ghana which was such a great opportunity.
I hope they enjoyed the shopping trip, the match was just an extra curricular activity to stretch from the long haul flight.
Welcome back bangwele ….LOL…
From chipopolo to ifibolokoto,bunch o panzi’s
FAZ, if didn’t learn anything from this, I don’t know if you ever gonna learn!!!!
Get serious for the sake of our country’s reputation, will you??!!!
#4,its not HR`s prlem but FAZ,o ba FAZ shud resign coz they ve failed us
the FAZ excutiveshould not hide behind the shameful protection of FIFA . They must simply resigning on moral grounds. Where on earth have we heard of a national team in any sports decipline that has picked players from the street to represent the nation. The London trip should never be repeated again. The pesident of FAZ resides outside the country,;just a few weeks before a must win match , the excutive is busy attending the FAZ presidents wedding; they dont care how many players travel to London because they know the government will fund the trip at tax payers expence.
