The Patriotic Front (PF) and United Party for National Development (UPND) has charged that the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) won the Chitambo by- elections corruptly and fraudulently.

PF spokesperson, Given Lubinda says the Chitambo parliamentary by-election in Serenje was characterized by malpractice by the ruling MMD.

Mr Lubinda said this today at a joint PF/UPND pact media briefing that the MMD therefore won the Chitambo by- elections corruptly and fraudulently.

He said the malpractices that the ruling MMD perpetrated amounted to an atmosphere that was not conducive for free and fair elections.

Mr Lubinda alleged that MMD was using unregistered vehicles with no number plates ferrying voters to polling stations in total disregard of elections regulations.

He added that the ruling party was also freely dishing out food stuffs and money to people adding that they were also beating up opposition supporters.

And speaking at the same occasion, UPND Publicity and Information Chairman, Charles Kakoma said MMD should be more worried about their countrywide losses in the local government elections than parliamentary elections.

Mr Kakoma said that MMD lost in sixteen out of twenty one local government by-elections throughout the country.

He said the UPND/PF obtained 73 percent of the seats while the MMD got 27 percent only.

Mr Kakoma stated that an examination of the results shows that MMD lost the local government by- elections in Lusaka, Central, Copperbelt, North-western and Southern provinces respectively.

He said the examination of the results of the Chitambo by elections is a clear indication that Zambians have welcomed the formation of the UPND/PF pact.

Mr Kakoma said the significance of the local government by-election results is that they represent a wider picture of the people throughout the country who are not happy with the current government’s performance.

  8. This nosensical Pact is doomed! It’s full of cry babies. When you loose just accept defeat and move on mwebantu! Talema nayo madandaulo mwe!!!!!!

  9. Lubinda is right, there was rampant coruption and malpractice in Chitambo. let the Pact go to court, they have good grounds for a clear case, not the case of Chiluba, Can somebody tell me is it true his free just like that.

  10. Uwalusa tabula akabepesho.Crying foul is the order of the day.Lubinda just accept defeat and go back to the drawing board so that you exactly see wher you went wrong and work on it.

  11. ok , we lost but this is not the end .the beauty is ,out of every bye election ,the people have a chance to get something immediately from the mmd .chitambo like sata said has been mmd let the rebel MPs resign and kunda will come begging .the PACT is not looking at bye elections .it is being prepared for the washout

  12. Fredrick Chiluba Acquitted
Kafupi FJT walks to freedom, get full details on watch dog zambia.
Former president Fredrick Chiluba has been acquitted of all his charges.
But his co-accused have been found guilty.
Chiluba was facing six counts of theft.
The court however dismissed the charges saying prosecution failed to prove the case.

Full details coming but meantime Chiluba is having a press conference

  13. I remember what my late Dad told me.Zed was and still is a circus. Why was the Government spending money on Chiluba when it was just a comedy? Even Mwanawasa was not as pure as people think.Who brought Ba Bwezani? Zed is very rich but fwebene.Leadership is programmed by God and for a purpose. Therefore, pray that the resources reach the next generation.Lessons for the next generation to learn.

  14. Now that Frederick Titus Jacob Mpundu Chiluba is FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, what follows are far as analysis of the whole case is concerned? The beginning, the trial up to the acquittal stage. Let’s not forget the resources that went in during the course of the investigation / trial. The other question would be, has this thing got any shadow hands from up above? And would the man been acquitted if the late Levy was still alive and at the helm?

  15. Elections (erections) cannot guarantee you free choice. Going to court seems a waste of time. Parliament is another joking place, although every politician wants to go there. So, what next? Democracy, it cant! Separation of powers through parliament and Judiciary, it cant! Maybe we go back to one party state………!!!! Indeed only a credible constitution can save this country but vultures are the ones writing the constitution. Where shall we run to…??

  16. I said it last friday. Chiluba sang RB’s songs during campaign, there was no way he could have been jailed. Govt spend billions on this case instead of using that money on new clinic, Can somebody at Manda hill (Parly) order the Justice minister to disclose how much Tax payers money was spend on this case. I also demand the immediate resignation of the Justice Minister, by the way is he still Kunda.

  17. On “He said the UPND/PF obtained 73 percent of the seats while the MMD got 27 percent only… Mr Kakoma stated that an examination of the results shows that MMD lost the local government by- elections in Lusaka, Central, Copperbelt, North-western and Southern provinces respectively.” is real great from the UPND-PF PACT. I hope MMD understands those numbers for complacency will not help them by rhetoric from Minister of Justice Vice President George Kunda.
