Participate in fight against corruption – Chipungu

Share

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has urged people in the country to play a leading role in the fight against corruption.

ACC Chief Community Officer Festus Chipungu says the fight against corruption needs special attention from all the people if it is to yield the intended results

Speaking when he officiated at a one day seminar for Universal Federation for World Peace (UFWP) in Lusaka today, Mr. Chipungu noted that the ACC and government alone can not manage to notice and address all the corrupt practices that occur in different communities.

He explained that this was why people in the community should rise to the occasion and take it upon themselves and assist government and ACC in fighting the scourge.

Mr. Chipungu further stated that the continued increase in corruption cases in the country was due to lack of adequate interest by people to prevent and take action on issues concerning corruption.

Earlier, UFWP Chairperson Malimba Masheke said corruption if not correctly addressed has the potential to disturb the country’s peace and its governance system.

General Masheke said there was need for people in the country to work together and find a lasting solution to all corruption problems affecting the country.

He said this would help to build a vibrant and peaceful nation for the benefit of the future generation.

And the Zambia National Union of Teachers (ZNTU) urged government to put in place effective governance and democratic laws that can deal with increasing numbers of corruption cases.

The union says this is important in promoting transparency and accountability in all systems.

  2. Iwe number 2 talk with facts when they say we all paticipate it does not mean anything wrong in your eyes is corruption neither does it mean that when certain court judgements go against your expectetions that it is corruption.
I keep saying i feel sorry for Zambian people because they have been blinded by the word corruption, you dont see any different anyone taken to court should be found guilty.
We have laws if you cant prove it even the guilty get away with it.

  3. Are any of you Christians? Do you have idea what the UPF (here called the UFWP) is? Do you know where it makes the money to support itself? Its reason for being? I do not doubt Mr. Chipungu is well meaning, most who help the UPF don’t understand its purpose because they have not been told the whole truth. Find some answers: http://tinyurl.com/5aodgn

  4. Dear # 3, You are right, but still the system in Zambia is so bad that it may lead that country into chaos like it did in Kenya and Zimbabwe, don’t think these other countries are foolish no, when you pushed civilian to the edge they can do unmagineable in case you dont know and you are not in Zambia. How can a poor person in shangombo able to prove that evil Chiluba and his fellow cronies are not corrupt? Tell me? When such persons they only power they had wastheir vote ….to put in leaders that are responsible for the nation.

Wait and see where Zambia is going, if we dont’ accept that Zambian leaders have taken everyone for granded.
