Police reject PF-UPND’s request to demonstrate against FJT’s acquittal

Share

Police in Central province have rejected the application by the opposition Patriotic Front and the United Party for National Development (PF/UPND) pact to stage a peaceful demonstration against the acquittal of former President Frederick Chiluba.

Central Province police commanding officer Simon Mpande said the demonstration, which was scheduled for Friday this week by the two political parties, would not go ahead because the police did not have enough man power to secure the demonstrators.

According to a statement from the two opposition political parties signed by UPND provincial secretary Davy Siamuzulu and PF provincial secretary Mutale Walichupa, the demonstration should have started from Lukanga grounds and end up at the provincial minister’s office.

Mr. Siamuzulu and Mr. Walichupa further said after the demonstration, the pact was going to submit a petition against Dr. Chiluba’s acquittal to the Provincial Minister Ackimson Banda.

The pact is also demanding for the immediate resignation or removal from office of Vice President George Kunda, who is also Justice Minister and Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Chalwe Mchenga because of the alleged mishandling Dr. Chiluba’s acquittal.

  1. What do you expect from these MMD Machopilis they will do all the best to block that because they know why bwezani will block that easy.

  2. What do you expect from a toothless Police which cannot investigate and arrest Titus Mpundu for faking his name to Fredrick Chiluba without deedpol? What do you expect from a Police which cannot investigate and arrest Titus Mpundu for using an educational certificate (form 2) which he never passed at Chiwala Secondary School where he never even studied and yet they can arrest Mrs. Kapoko?

  3. Titus Mpundu is a shameless survivor who will do anything to achieve high status in life. he was born a cheat from his prostituting mother Diana Kaimba who cheated on Zarare Nkhonde to produce the bustard. Successive Presidents have failed to bring him down to his true self of a cheat. Rupiah Bwezani ‘Kanitundila’ Banda cannot bring Mpundu down as he is corrupt himselm.

  4. ‘Sata’, don’t use a good leader’s name please for you are too foolish to call others foolish when you can’t even accept that Titus Mpundu is not FTJ as you call him. Titus Mpundu was born out of the unholy cohabitting of Diana Kaimba and Chabala Kafupi in Musangu village in 1942. Zarare Nkhonde the Mozambican husband did not accept back a secondhand wife Diana and his son Jim. ‘Sata’ know the truth about your FTJ.

  5. Freedom of expression is slowly fading away and before you realize, it will be illegal to hold demos. The police force has become a task force for the MMD.

Zambians should oppose this nonsense and stand up for their rights, otherwise, it will be more difficult to reverse some of these oppressive regulations being enacted to benefit a few powerful people in our country.

This is truly infuriating! RB and MMD are still in power because they have managed to keep the Zambian people in poverty and therefore dependent on the rich and powerful, that’s why you can see some people defecting, praising blindly and failing to stand up against this vice.

Zambian people please, stand up for your rights and for the future of your country.

  6. But I bet the Police will have enough man-power to dispel the demonstrators should they go ahead and stage a peaceful demonstration.

    Two faced clowns they are.

  7. UN Says New Currency Is Needed to Fix Broken ‘Confidence Game’
Sept. 7 (Bloomberg) — The dollar’s role in international trade should be reduced by establishing a new currency to protect emerging markets from the “confidence game” of financial speculation, the United Nations said.
UN countries should agree on the creation of a global reserve bank to issue the currency and to monitor the national exchange rates of its members, the Geneva-based UN Conference on Trade and Development said today in a report.

  8. Listen to Solomon please!!!! Zambians stand up and be counted against MMD and its corrupt leaders and police. If we lose this war, we shall regret it in future.

Our Chrstian leaders please, rally the people of Zed to fight an evil government which wants to promote corruption at the expense of the poor in the land.

  9. That’s zed for you just yesterday unwilling people were induced to demonstrate in favopur of a fraudulent acquital. Today those willing to express their displeasure at the scam are denied the right to do so……………….If we all keep quiet and let silly S**t like this continue we will collectively become a laughing stock

  10. WHAT IS THIS NONSENSE OF DEMONS”, WHETHER FOR OR AGAINST? ZAMBIA HAS ISSUES OF DEVELOPMENT TO DEAL WITH AND NOT FTJ. LEST FOCUS ON DEVELOPING THIS COUNTRY AND NOT BE BLINDED BY EXTERNAL INFLUENCE TO CONCENTRATE ON A NON-ISSUE. THE FACT IS WHETHER FTJ IS ACQUITTED OR CONVICTED, IT WILL NOT CHANGE THE POVERTY STATUS OF THIS COUNTRY. LETS LEARN LESSONS FROM OUR HISTORY AND WORK HARD TO DEVELOP OUR COUNTRY. THIS BATTLE ABOUT FTJ IS ONLY THERE TO BENEFIT A FEW MAFIAS AND NOT THE COUNTRY’S POOR MAJORITY. THIS CASE HAS BEEN “BENEFITED” ONLY A FEW PRIVILEDGED INDIVIDUALS/ ORGS INCLUDING MEDIA, LAW FIRMS, NGOs, etc WHILE WE ARE ALL WATCHING. MEDIA HAS BEEN USED FOR ‘MASS INTELLECTUAL CAPTIVITY” VERY FEW ZAMBAINS ARE CURRENTLY ABLE TO ANALYSE ISSUES INDEPENDENTLY, BUT DEPEND ON SO CALLED…

  11. SOME IS SPONSORING THSE DEMOS, I WISH I COULD CATCH THAT BUMPUNUNGU!
THOSE GUYS NEED TO BE WEEP, FIND SOME SORT OF EMPLOYMENT INSTEAD OF GETTING DIRTY MONIES.

  12. My brothers stop complaining and do something about our situation. Just writing on some blog wont solve anything. There is nothing wrong with the African mind, our problem is the African mindset. Just meditate on this line for a minute or two. We need to change our African and Zambian way of doing things. Think of Dambisa Moyo, isn’t she Zambian for goodness sake? I can write a whole list of our African brothers and sisters who have made it. Done great things. And we are busy whining and complaining! Please change your AFRICAN MINDSET BY RENEWING YOUR MIND IN GOD”S IMAGE!!!!!!

  13. # 16 Do you know how much money is lost through corrupt practices? Billions. Now these billions can solve alot of the problems you so lucidly point out.
but how do we stop this corruption. The fact is public workers continue stealing with impunity. Hence the best way to arrest the situation is to show them that if you abuse resources the law will get you and you will be punished.
Now if people who have stolen get away with shaky acquitals then all other criminals will be encouraged that they can beat the system. Hence corruption and as a result underdevelopment will stay with us forever.

  14. I have never heard such foolishness. The entire main opposition party must begin to waste time on an issue that has no consequense to the well being of Zambia’s future.I am positive there a million issues that are of great significance to the country than this one.Particularly that this was a Levy issue.Levy failed lamentably in the fight against corruption alas this opposition seems to be towing the same unproductive tracks. We need serious amendments to laws around police, audit generals office, anti corruption commission, accountability in government department, these and others that will improve governance in public life for the good of this and future generation. This approach will indeed take care of a lot of issues. Sata does not have that capacity. I invite Gen Miyanda to champion…

  15. Issues of governance are not matters that you want to leave in the hands man whose interest is to enter state house as an end in itself.I have failed to see why HH had to line up with Sata. I urge the youngman to get back to the drawing board. This is not a fruitful alliance. Yes the primary objective for any politician is to be head of state , in the invent that that fails people must be able to see what one stood for in terms of improving the lives of the majority. I urge HH to relaunch and and re focuss. May be join forces with a more respectable individual like Gen. Miyanda. We need to delibearte close the Sata chapter we are not moving by sticking with such politician.

  16. Demos are right on but only if the demonstrators are capable of thinking, not these political nincompoops who have nothing better to do than drink chibuku as a reward.

  17. This is UNACCEPTABLE in a democracy. People must be allowed to demonstrate. The Police SERVICE in Zambia needs to change its approach to mass policing. In that way there will be no untoward results.

  18. There iz no need to demonstrate against FTJ’z acquittal. Everything haz time, therefore, copy and condem not thoze celebrating.

  19. It’s very bad to see that Zambian politics are full of ‘bring him down syndrome’.Even if the MMD refuses to give the go ahead to the demo they should not think they will be in those offices forever time will catch up with them.its not the police who have refused to the demo but its Ruphia Banda and his senselese friends,How can surely the president side with a thief who even a 5 yr old child knows.chiluba and Ruphia are all thieves and they will try anything to avoid arrest in the near future. They should not take Zambian people for granted,If they think they are safe as in heaven then they should reverse their minds cause i will personally bring a test of Hell to them. It’s better i die fighting than watching all this nonsense.Chiluba is innocent in the eyes of Ruphia not Zambians…

  20. #1 you are dull and f**ck up how can you surely write those nonsense,if you are a direct beneficially of MMD then take it form me your time is near,.

  21. Chi colour #16 you should be a foreigner for you to say those f**cking nonsense how can you let a thief go free,if its so then let those who are convicted in prisons go free. You should not come on this forum with negative thoughts.A thief is always a thief no matter where he goes.Lets pursue thief’s and get the money back so that we can use the monies for developmental project.

  22. #5 watch out your PC IP address is taken and your location is known, you are no different from Teta, you think in the same line and utter rubbish as if you where twine brothers.it’s an insult to even call yourself SATA for that matter.I say watch out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. WHAT CAN WE POOR FOLK SAY? THE CORRUPT ARE ALWAYS THE MIGHTY. AND HOW CAN WE FORGET SO EASILY? PF LEADER MICHAEL SATA WAS CHILUBA’S RIGHT HAND MAN ONLY A WHILE AGO. WHAT’S HE DEMONSTRATING AGAINST? HIS OWN EVIL? NEITHER CHILUBA NOR SATA IS CLEAN ENOUGH TO THROW THE FIRST STONE. WE NEED A THROROUGH CLEAN-UP, FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. ZAMBIANS, DON’T BE HOODWINKED INTO THINKING THOSE WHO PERPETRATED CRIMES AGAINST US UNDER THE MMD ONLY YESTERDAY ARE NOW CLEAN, JUST BECAUSE THEY’RE OUTSIDE THE MMD. CHILUBA MUST BE REARRESTED. NOW!!!

  24. We seem to have short memories when it comes to these so-called leaders. Can poverty bring about such desperation? We are sick and tired of recycled politicians, and it’s about time that they retired to their villages and let our generation take the reigns. Why does RB keep proclaiming that Zambia is democratic, when he cannot he even allow a simple demonstration? Does freedom of assembly exist in Zambia? Apparently not. Why should MMD thugs and be allowed to celebrate a thief (Chiluba), but block legitimate demonstrations? The police should stop being bootlickers and do their job impartially. Enough!!!
