Alcoholic drink Tujilijili is safe

Share

Investigations into the safety of the alcohol sachets popularly known as tujilijili have revealed that the beer is free of contaminants and safe for human consumption.

The Lusaka City Council has allowed companies that were closed for manufacturing the sachets, to resume operations.

Public Relations Manager Chanda Makanta told ZNBC that a number of samples from all manufacturers and distributors were submitted to the Food and Drugs Laboratory.

The laboratory tests were conducted by the Zambia Bureau of Standards and the Zambia Institute for Scientific Research.

The results of the tests revealed that the sachets are safe for human consumption.

  1. Not everyone can afford ama pint… and the joy of the feeling of intoxication does now belong to the well off, viva JILJIL!!!!

  2. tunwe tunwe, alcohol is the only thing that we can look forward to in a country that stinks of poverty and suffering..

  3. the beer is ok but the sachets have made it more affordable/accessible to every one. A medium price should be considered, say from K5,000 per small bottle going up.Otherwise nowadays you don`t even know who is drunk and who is sober coz people are all accessing thse things anyhow. LCC/GRZ do something now.

  4. That product has marketed itself. That why in the brewing industry the products sell on their own no need for marketing manager, marketing officer…..

  5. What about the issue of illegal outlet? LCC You make it sound as if selling these lethal drinks all over the place, to all and sundry, is of no importance! Also there’s no mention of the alcohol content! Surely there’s need to control consumption and availability of alcohol …. ! What a country! Ati ‘it is safe!’ Is that all you can say…?

  6. #10& 11 you mean TUFYOMPIX? Not that there waz doubt about the safety of the spirit in question, but the uncontrolled distribution and consumption. Any liquor should be sold in dezignated and licensed place.

  7. One i.d.i.o.t.a in Chongwe drank 15 satchets of Tujilijili within 10 minutes in a drinking competition. He is now making peace with his creator.

  8. I think ‘safe’ means tujilijili does not contain methane. it could have been better for the journalist to state as such. Mrely statind that its safe can lead to prblems like the chongwe one in no 16. Alcohol can only be safe upto a certain limit….try 100 mosi in 4 hrs you will be dead.

  9. No wonder zambia has no amenities for leisure only bars everywhere. Zambia can be very boring for the non beer drinker . The money people spend on alcohol can be used for better things

  10. 11 & 16 you have made my night.Fyumpix sounds like a Kaponya generic.

19.Thats why they say if you cant beat them join them.

These Tujilijilis are the same as totapaks in the 80s. But the only difference Totapaks were sold in proper licenced places until the short one came into power..

  11. Zed is an amazing country ,people enjoy at different levels ranging from Kachasu big pungus to those who can manage most expensive brands . I guess this is the same as total parks and powers

  12. I saw these Tijilis when I went to Zed, they don’t look appealing to me at all. Those craving for them might aswell take a sip out of a bottle of aftershave – they look and smell almost the same.

  13. if u know how to use a computer, im taking it u have some moderate sort of education (regardless to whether it was attained in sch or wherever) and if u can read, please go read comment #9… if u r concerned about the nation as a whole then u should be supporting what comment #9 is saying… rich, broke or whatever u r, those sachets should be put out of production. they r way too easily consumed wrongly. i experienced a fatal accident on a high way in august; one of the drivers involved was drinking those tujilijili… 6 people died on the spot and those are the only ones i had seen them remove out of the remains of the crash. would u feel safe to get on a bus where the driver is consuming some alcoholic beverage? think about it fellow zambians…

  14. Am sure the stuff must be hard knox from what i have been reading but wait a minute i thought liquor must be for enjoyment and not for intoxication so i cant count myself in tujilijili

  15. Alcohol and poverty of mind are directlt proportional. In Zambia and Kenya they are inversely proportional. The more sober a country the higher up in GDP and per-capital income scale it lies. This is only not plausible in war torn nations.

  16. Hello to My friend Slam dog, God’s blessings to you and yours. Nine Chale how are you, and where is Jamaco, loook for that brother in berlin. honey, Mrs Tilyenji(_____), olympia chick, Engine blokho, mat world, the saint and all that Zambia needs to develop we need to stay in touch over here. Do not insult me but Criticise constructively when you see a young man in public helping educate young Zambian males and females; plus constructing a solid foundation for our nations economy and moral strength.

  17. imwe dont hate on another mans drink.. mwabashani imwe vakolwe. jusy because u can afford mosi na castle u think every one can? let other people also enjoy life.. koswe imwe

  18. imwe dont hate on another mans drink.. mwabashani imwe vakolwe. jusy because u can afford mosi na castle u think every one can? let other people also enjoy life.. mwa ve mafi imwe

  19. GRZ Officials are culprits, they are the most drinkers of the so called tujilijili. Remove them as they are a hazard to human life.Encorage beers like Chibuku(its healthy) unlike beer that kills.Zambians, lets not condorn this way of living, its sad and bad.

  20. yes the beer is fine but lets see that its not sold in all the places like in markets and bus stations otherwise its the beer is giving us low budgets so we have some money for food at home

  21. for your information, 33, Utujiliji are now being added to Shekas, Chibuku and othe bulk beer to make them strong. The bulk acts as mixer for tujilijili.

  22. I don’t believe to tujilijili tuli safe, that beer reacts like paraffin when pooled on a blaze. Try & you will for your self. Ka- officer.

  23. Ba council KAPATA you have let me down, this was the only chance you could have acted to stop this nuisances, this spirit is destroying the youths, imagine they’re now carryin even in class. Sometimes you act on wat you think is right not because its approved by test. Who doesnt know that the drink is a danger

  24. Guys beer is beer and condemed what has happened to Zambia that was declared a christian nation really can utujilijili be a topic, some of these issues just need to be dealt with faster than fast.it is like now the nation is advetising for utujilijili .#9 YOU ARE RIGHT this prduction must be stopped or the conmsuption must be rrestricted.utujilijili is found anyway along the road early in the morning and yet i hear there is law that says bars should open in the evenings what about utujilijil sellers and they not bar attendants too.Pliz LCC DO SOMETHING.WE GET ON BUSES IN THE MORNING AND DRIVERS STOP TO BUY THIS STAFF HOW DO WE STOP THEM,AND BY THE END OF THE DAY WHAT DO YOU EXPECT ACCIDENTS ACCIDENTS AND MORE LIVES BEING LOST PLIZ DO SOME THING.

  25. I CONCOR WITH YOU PASTOR,IT IS A SHAME AND HOW DO WE DEVELOPE LIKE THIS? I HEAR EVEN BUS DRIVERS USED TO MOVE WITH THEM IN THEIR POCKETS.ITS JUST A CALL TO MORE ACCIDENTS ON OUR ZAMBIAN ROADS AND MORE LIVES WIL BE LOST.KAYA!

  26. The best LCC can do to reduce abuse of TUJILIJILI is stop packing in sachets instaed pack in BIG bottles as the costs will be high and not affordable to young ones. Its a sad story to the youth and the unemployed. A sachet going at between K500 & K1,500 is affordable. Say if a 700ml bottle going at K35,000 to K45,000 each only a few would afford. I am advocating killing business for others but every product that has adverse effects on the community should be controlled by either rasing the price or restricting its distribution. In this case LCC should levy it and ensure the contents are sold in larger bottles. This should apply to DGM. The earlier the council acts the better. At the rate consumption of TUJILIJILI will end up having a nation of drunkards. The situation is out of hand.

  27. Wake up guys! Those things are not safe. It is just that some promised the P.I.G several cases for their cadres and a few bucks for 2011.

  28. #3,#31#32 boi ukafwa ulechula if u wl be thinking in thoz lines, the way u tok shows tht u a poverty minded person ,the mannerz u hv got , are the real effects of utujilijili, promotin nd encouraging such jst bcoz our country is poor then u wil jst be drinking fake beer.uchinje,………

  29. tujilijil sholud just be banned because alot of youths have now resorted to drinking this bad beer be it at home, school. Even those who work do take with them the so called tujilijili in their pockets at work that is why most of them sometimes are found drunk. There is no way some body can be buying beer at K500. Lusaka City Council (LCC) there is nothing like tujilijili are not a danger or good for consuption, LCC your statement means that you are encouraging more youths to be consuming this fake beer. NO TO TUJILIJILI.

    • i support the idear of barning the sell of sachet beer tugiligili bcz it has brot harm than good to our beloved country zambia viva luo shame 2 the tujilijili takers bafikala

  30. PUNJI NUMBALA 49, WABE SHOMBO IWE!YOU HAVE HEARD THAT THE DRINK IS SAFE TE? SO WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE DRINKING THEM? JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE ENJOY ONE DRINK DOESNT MEANT THE WHOLE ZAMBIA SHOULD CHANGE AND START DRINKING YOUR “HIGH CLASS” DRINK. IN EVERY COUNTRY EVEN HERE IN THE UK YOU WILL FIND CHEAPER DRINKS AND EXPENSSIVE ONES.. ITS NOT THAT THEY DO THIS TO MAKE PEOPLE BUY USELESS DRINKS NO.. IT IS TO TARGET DIFFERENT BUYINNG POWERS WITHIN A COUNTRY. IF YOU ARE EDUCATED YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS CAUSE THIS IS SIMPLE MARKETING MY FRIEND. SO BEFORE YOU COME HERE AND TELL ME I WILL DIE A POOR MAN PLIZ FIRST GET AN EDUCATION. I ACTUALLY STOPPED RESPONDING TO IGNORANT PEOPLE LIKE YOURSELF. TOLE

  31. I knew this was going to happen.this is Zambia the real Africa. Visit one of the police stations in the city and check places where they throw their rubbish, I was so amazed at how many empty sachets of Tujili-jili i found such that i even took photos of them.Nowadays Council workers, cops, some college/university students and even teachers just smell of tujili-jili. The commodity is sold on every corner of every street and I think it contains weed or cocaine in it.I once tempted a friend of mine to try b4 i cud do it myself, after 2 sachets he went to the toilet and and never came back. am told when he reached home he ate his baby’s cereal. Tujili-jili is not safe, if you want to die soon go ahead and drink, assuredly I say unto you 2day Tomorrow u will be with tetamashimba in Paradise

  32. NUMBER 54 UR A STRAIGHT FAGGOT!! HOW MUCH IS THE CHEAPEST DRINK IN THE UK AND WHAT IS THE % VOLUME OF ALCOHOL IN IT U FAGGOT? U REALLY WANT TO MAKE THAT COMPARISON? HOW MUCH IS THAT CHEAPEST DRINK AND IS THE MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE THAT ATTAIN A LOW INCOME CONSUMING IT? IF UR TRULY IN THE UK U WILL UNDERSTAND THAT U CANT HAVE ALCOHOL (LIQUOR WHICH TUJILIJILI IS) BE ROAMING AROUND EVERY STREET CORNER. U WILL ALSO KNOW THAT THERE ARE STRICT LAWS (STIFF) THAT ABIDE THE CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL. THIS IS NOT ABOUT BROKE, RICH, CAN AFFORD OR WHATEVER IS GOING THROUGH YO BLOCKED HEAD, ITS ABOUT TUJILIJILI AND THEIR EFFECT ON ZAMBIA AS A WHOLE… FIRST THING U NEED TO DO IS GO BACK AND SEE FOR YOSELF BEFORE U COMMENT U FAGGOT….
