SENIOR Chief Bright Nalubamba has been challenged to either join politics or stop engaging in political battles to avoid bringing his reputation as a traditional leader into disrepute.
Authentic Advocates for Justice and Development (AAJD) said this in reaction to Chief Nalubamba’s statement that President Rupiah Banda should stop associating with former president Frederick Chiluba because donors still perceived him to be corrupt.
In a story published last Friday, Chief Nalubamba was quoted as saying President Banda should not associate with Dr Chiluba because the donors did not regard the former president as an innocent person even after his acquittal.
“We read with a great sense of shock and fear sentiments attributed to Senior Chief Nalubamba that it was wrong for his excellency President Rupiah Banda to fraternise with former president Chiluba.
“Unless Senior Chief Nalubamba is saying that he does not respect the jurisdiction and verdict of our courts that acquitted Dr Chiluba, we are not surprised by his novel support and desire for donors to try and decide on matters that are purely Zambian,”
AAJD general secretary, Laiford Mwanza said.
Mr Mwanza said AAJD would have expected Senior Chief Nalubamba to put the interests of his subjects above those of the donors and was surprised by his failure to respect and uphold Zambia’s sovereignty.
He said Chief Nalubamba’s personal negative opinion of Dr Chiluba could not supercede the positive discernment of the former president’s personality by the majority Zambians.
He said Chief Nalubamba should have embraced and promoted the friendship between President Banda and Dr Chiluba if he was a fair-minded person.
He wondered why Chief Nalubamba had suddenly thrown himself into political battles that were likely to damage his image.
“Just a few weeks ago the same chief was quoted as saying that chiefs in Southern Province were not in support of President Banda when in fact it was not the case,” Mr Mwanza said.

This Mwanza should also just come out in the open, it is tribal bigotry ‘Kumawa kumodzi” that has made him lose his head and support Kanitundila who is clearly in the wrong. What respect can one honestly give to the so called “jurisdiction and verdict of our courts that acquitted Dr Chiluba”. You bet it even Kalindawalo or that rapist Mpezeni’s kangaroo court would have been able to dispence a better verdict that what Chinyama and Phillip Musonda vomited. If aMwanza thinks swallowing such vomit is what amounts to respect, then “ndiye kulakwa nditu kwa aMwanza”. I would not be suprised if you are a brother to Regina Mwanza’s former husband, kupusa ngako!
Let the chief talk why should they be allowed to talk only when supporting RB and not opposing
iwe Advocates fimofimo wat are u telling us?we know ur a brown envelope beneficiary….wafuma kwisa iwewine?
Advocate wakwa FTJ iyeee. Go to sleep and leave us in peace.
Malabishi…another briefcase NGO,where do these boys come from…its only on LT and state owned media that such chaps are even given time to open their gobs..get your paycheque and enjoy while it lasts
Suddenly little chiefdoms who were instituted by colonial government are making so much noise.
Every body wants a share of the $8.5m Chiluba claims in Zamtrop. Why else can a normal person defend Chiluba. Stealer of other people property including wives?
Chiluba enjoys supprot from the majority of Zambians? Huh! Then where was this majpority when his immunity was being stripped?
HERB needs Chiluba (a Bemba) to win Northern and Luapula Provinces. TIts well understood that the majority of decently educated people understand issues and have questioned the acquittal. Unfortunately, the educated dont form the majority in Zambia. There are millions without an education who dont understand and blindly support the same aquittal. Add that to the educated who support Chiluba and you have the majority on Chiluba’s side. Pretty soon, the same acquittal will be used as campaign propaganda by the MMD especially in Luapula.

The majority are on Chiluba’s side. Its not the majority that demanded the removal of Chiluba’s immunity. To the contrary, it through demonstrations by a minority mainly from Lusaka comprising civil sociey organisations, students (specically University of Zambia students), the opposition, the Post and LPM’s political will to fight corruption.
As things stand now, Chiluba is not a criminal but a thief.
Plain trash from the Devil’s advocate, Mwanza. Look LT you’ve stopped comments on CBU arrests, allow me to digress a bit here. During the Nurses countrywide strike we lost lives, many lives. During CBU demonstrations we lost just money and a vehicle! Look at the extent Lameck is going to ( Minister, Home affairs)!! A car really costs money, nomba mwebantu lets be reasonable and think again.
ba LT, what did my Chief say, give the full story not just the reactions. Thank you
It is the minority of fools who are saying that the majority are on Chiluba’s side. Us the majority are saying to hell with this thief and his dubius aqquital. It doesent take one to be educated to know that Kapupi it guity. Both ilitarates and educated know people know. This includes Mrs. Mwanza (FTJ’s concubine), Mr. Mwanza the husband to Regina, the author of this stupid article and Chiluba’s lawayers. Chinyama, RB, DPP, Kunda all know that this chap is guity thats why they dont want us to appeal. Such uselss articles must not be aired.
Lusaka Times, Stop writing missleading headlines. The advise of Nalubamba can not be said to have attracted condemnations from this so called Mr. Mwanza. This guy is a no body. He does not speak on our behalf. Therefore, his unfortunate thoughts must not be construed as a representative view of the Zambian people. Please improve on your grammer unless you wanted to sideline with this author.
#14 it is this same kind ot journalism that is actually misrepresenting facts, it is like the kind of airtime Siulapwa is receiving from ZNBC which really sometimes makes me wonder, if Givernment is really doing something about our dire situation, why can’t they just get in with the job instead of paying people like Humphrey to talk about CBU students when he has never been there to undetstand the frustrations we faced which certainly the current students dstill face if not worse.
#2 imagine, why didn’t people complain when chiefs even attanded a political rally in Chitambo in the presence of kanitundila?
Chi Mwanza. Please leave the chief alone. His comments weere said in good faith as it is true that donors would not be confortable with RBs shairing the same bed with the greatest thief of all times pa Z. FTJ. If I were a donor I would withold support to Zambia as well.
Chief Nalubamba, has realised that we are not going anywhere with RB despite supporting him in 2008 elections. This is a good move from the chief.Iwe chi mwanza ulinama nshi?because chiluba is a dangerous thief who steals money and women and if you are not care ful he can still your wife as well.Is this a person you can intertain? He is a thief and his consciencious tells him that you are not cleared.Which majority?Your foolishness with some useless NGOs,cifire’s ngo, siulapwa’s ngo and some small pastors will make this country to remain undeveloped.Behave yourself Mwanza!
FTJ is busy taking notes on those supporting him and those oppossing his acquittal. Very shortl he will start issuind instructions ati, ” Ba Mwamba, Twaleni ka envelopu kuli ba Bishop twanikane na ba Mabenga. Banensu. Oh yes! It pays to have friends!”
#10. thanks for “As things stand now, Chiluba is not a criminal but a thief” you have made my day!
Bloggers, can someone please tell me why LT has closed comments on CBU students story? Yachizanda?
This Mwanza guy is talking nonsense. He has been covered by the partisan press for MMD propaganda purposes.
IMWE BA Mwanza NKALANI CHABE and Enjoy KWANU NI KWANU. For your information I am one of the Subjects WA Chief Nalubamba. I am from Makaba Village KUMBO a NIKO about 5 Km from Namwala – Choma – Monze Junction and I am very proud of the stance my Chief has taken on the issue at hand. Do you know how much wealth in terms of Livestock we lost because of DENKETE a managable disease because of poor policies of your so called Chiluba. Instead of managing our resources he was busy mismanaging them at the expense of Zambians and today You Mwanza you think you have the right to suppress the voice of reason. NKALA CHABE NA KA NGO KAKO KA BOZA MWANA. Watch out my dear 2011 is around the corner you might not contain the anger in peoples heart. WE ARE WATCHING YOU Ba MUWELEWELE. Viva Pact.
Ba Mwanza after donating your wife to KAFUPI you are now even giving him your support. KUSHE ZINASILA ZAMENE ANAKUDYESANI MUFUNA NAZINANGU. For your own information ba Mwanza Chief Nalubamba and us his subject we dont believe in BROWN ENVELOPES like you to do a wrong thing and paint it correct. We are principled people. Take your rubish uko we dont need it. TWAKUKAKILA. KOYA UKAKU LISINE NA MAILA AKUKOLA.
I Iwe chief ….Nizakutundila. Please you should get it in your thick skull that FTJ is more important to me politically and he’s got ‘kang’ono’ . only a fool can listen to a small chief in Namwala and forsake FTJ . I have more to gain from FTJ than this chief …. I have bigger and more serious Chiefs supporting me in southern province and i dont giv a damn about this chap…. He can tell his pipo to vote for Sata and HH and I can have my Luapula with FTJ…. frustrated small chiefs. No place in my empire. How can any politician who wants to win votes in Luapula make enemies with FTJ…… the master dribbler. iam even recruiting xzvier Chungu …he has served his time and time i will employ him as consultant on spaecial projects….on FTj’s recommendation
#25 Did you hear that during the last Presidential By Elections FTJ was manhandled by the Luapula People in Mwense, Nchelenge at the BP Filling Station and in Mununga. If it was not for the Police he would have been resting side by side na LPM under ground. Ask people that come from Luapula RB has no chance what so ever in Luapula. This acquital works personally for FTJ and not RB. Those rarries you so pa TV people were hired from within Mansa after KUBADYESAMO so that BAPANGE CHONGO. The slogan Luapula people have now “NI NSITA YAKULYA IFYO BATULILA”. RB AZALILA I tell you.
Chiluba was judged and condemned even before he appeared in the Courts of Law. So is this the kind of justice we need in our country? Is this what we need to be happening to us by letting a group of individuals to take away the justice of another just because they stand on a strategic or priviledged position? REMEMBER IT MIGHT BE YOU IN CHILUBAS’ SHOES. Leave the man ALONE. What have you been doing for 8 years????? You came with over 100 counts in Parliament to remove his immunity but you are only hanging on to one which was not even tabled in parliament. What justice is this?? LETS NOT INSIGHT PUBLIC ANGER AGAINST THE INNOCENT. WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND. YOU MIGHT BE THE ONE TOMORROW!!!! BRAVO ZAMBIAN JUDICIARY.
I think mama joe if you are really a woman, then you have lost your head.Did you see the young boy in the post newspaper on saturde,he has suffered for 12 years yet no help but here is your kafupi who store our money may be if he was thinking properly we could have equipment to treat such diseases or that money can be used 4 that.Think before you talk and as a mother you must be reasonable atleast.Chiluba is a thief in capital letters. If im caught tomorrow it means i have a case to answer and i should know consequenses. It just dont come anyhow it depends on your character.Think mama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I dont understand why some of the useless statements and NGOs are given coverage?why ?
I am from the East but this my kind of cheif. He understands the term freedom of speech. Firstly NGOs are competing with car registrations it seems AAJD, no wonder mr. Mwanza your organisation niyo Vunda nichi mbaya mbaya. In a democracy there is nothing wrong with not liking an incumbent, some people do not agree with my posts it is called constructive criticism. Like the donors the majority of us Zambians are upset at chilubas aquittal. Thus I propose that next just this once let Urban areas vote, write up a special bill because this is the only way Zambia can claw and cliff climb out of our current national hole with cylindrical vertical walls. Remember family there is power in the name of Jesus.
The Chief is right. Once a thief always a thief.
If he was speaking for them they would not condem him.
