All National Team Supporters ( ANTS ) interim Secretary General Bob Kayukwa has challenged Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Kalushya Bwalya and national team coach Herve Renard to resign for alleged poor performance.
Bob Kayuka says soccer legend Bwalya alias ‘Great Kalu’ has failed to deliver on two occasions: First when he as Chipolopolo Boys Trainer and now as a sport administrator hence for him to relinquish his position on moral grounds before they are ‘considered fired’.
Kayuka says Renard has equally failed to lift soccer standards to greater heights hence he too should resign on moral grounds.
He was speaking in an interview with ZANIS sports in Lusaka today.[quote]
He said ‘ great Kalu’ and Renard have got problems of displaying a better line-up to satisfy soccer fans, a situation which described as a minus and a very big disadvantage to the nation as a whole.
He charged that Zambia has got ‘remote chances’ of qualifying to the 2010 World Cup to be played in South Africa.
” Kalu and Renard have failed us. I’m so upset by the failure and combination of Kalu and Renard who fail to just constitute a team for us. We are not after merely participating ( in international and regional tournaments )but bringing the medal to our motherland, Zambia,” he lamented.
The visibly annoyed ANTS official said time for Kalu and Renard to go is now so that fresh blood could take over to spearhead and drive football forward. He said Kalu and his tactics will not help Zambia anywhere because they are failures.
“Great Kalu and Renard should swallow their pride because their tactics are not helping us and will not take us anywhere. They should simply move and pave way to serious people who know and can ready football,” he added.
ZANIS
Is this guy (Kalusha) still great?
they are getting a fat salary and dont expect them to give up that.
Let them go, Kalu no longer great and his Renard.
I totally agree with this Bob Kayukwa. Kalusha is a failure in management and administration. The guy has no clue about management and knows nothing and about administrative planning. Playing football and adminsitering football are two different things. The late Ucar Godfrey Chitalu and Alex Chola were outstanding people both as players and as coaches and Kalusha can hardly match those two. Kalusha step down before you are pushed. You were a good player but that is it. The rest is history – Zwa Kalusha so that you remain with some respect but if fired you will be humiliated locally and internationally. Zwa `Zwa Zwa!!!
Thats why Zambian football can never improve, iwe Kayuka do you know anything about football? just shut up and watch. Let the coach and Great Kalu do their work.
kalu is a finished guy
In 2008 we had Anti Rigging now we have ANT…………go zambia go!
We are the most gullible people on earth.
Zambians are the most gullible people on earth.
what a load of nonsense .. these are the ngos that need to be disbanded.
#5 FYOBE FYO
You are the one who ought to shut up with your Great Galu. What silver ware has your Great Galu ever brought to Zambia apart from East And Central Challenge Cup? Not even a simple Cosafa Cup!! Its people like you addicted to second best who are keeping Zambia down. You somehow believe Zambia will never go beyond what your great Galu has done.
Zed has done a lot for this Great Galu and all he has given Zambia back is second best in everything has has laid his hands on. As a Coach he was paid the most a local Coach has ever been paid and what did the nation get in return, Zero, second or fourth best. And you call that Great. You ought to be ashamed. They are people who have a passion for Zambia and are tied being second best and we want to move on. Just get out of the way.
kalusha ni mbushi,he should be shown the door.
How can a “Great” fail to a point where they have to face reality and resign? Great Kalu. Zambians, you have nobody else to blame but yourselves for making Kalusha inot a demi god and now you have to deal with it
true i do not see anything in these guys.given all the financial support you cant perform then what else do you want.am fade up.we need people to bring results not opportunists patrick phiri was a better coach than hr.its better for a zambian coach like p phiri to be paid that money than a story teller.
Renard has failed to constitute a team, that can compete. I will give a comment after the Egypt game. I know alot of people will say a lot of things, but the bottom line is we messed up our chances.
But mwebantu mulaponta
Gentle men if u realy watch zambia football name the squad that u think wud hav made it to the world cup, i asure u zambia is not ready there ar no players to fulfil yo hearts guys. lets just start from zero, even if we brot sir Alex he wudn’t manage
HR is a bad coach period. He wont take the team anywhere, we had a good team that played against South Africa, as Zambians we needed to see an improvement in terms of results. But the guy has used almost 70 players and he has failed to come up with a team. He even went to an extent of using college students. Bwana Kalu should be shown an exit door, he is doing damage to the lovely game of football
Kalusha should just do the honourable thing, quit. You cannot live in South Africa and at the same time purport to run FAZ affairs. Ba mwisha ba Kalusha Kabwali baleke kulimonesha ta ati tenze bantu. This is the 21st century and their stars deemed in the last one. This kaca of Luapulan lumpens clinging on to power ot the pretext of “finishing program” that no one knows ended with Chiluba. Kalusha should just get the hell out of that chair or else he will be chased like galu ya chiwewe that he has become. The London fiasco was so shameless, the ***** should just go to save us further embarassment.
It really pains me alot to see a Top Goal Scorer in the League with a 100% goal scoring record not featuring in the National Team. Kabamba qualifiers to be a Zambian, but Kalu and his tandem of thieves are blocking the young man in favour of Jacob Mulenga who has never scored or assisted the team in finding the back of the net. Zambia wake and smell the coffee. Kalu has failed.
What the ****! are you talking about? Do you know anything about football? Do you know when Zambian football went under? Do you know what Phase Zambian football is in? Go bring Sir Alex Feggies from Man Utd and you think Zambia can win a trophy? Shut your ****n mouth up. Go and heat up your ****n ass in the heat and find other things to talk about. Don’t bring your dame ignorance here – you shameless, ignorant and retrogressive ass!
I agree with #17 in that Zambia does not just have the quality of players to win things at international level. The current crop of players are too small to compete effectively with big boys from north and west africa. a sign of poverty up-bringing?
But don’t get me wrong, there is talent in Zedi and I always watch the team play international games, now with the internet.
I visited Zambia and watched some games, which was refreshing having been used to the premier league. The boys do try considering the playing conditions, let alone their living conditions.
Government should concentrate on supporting schools and college football if the local league is to improve. There has been a lot of money pumped into FAZ to benefit a few individuals whilst grassroots (foundation) football suffers.
The problem in Zambia is that we enjoy hero worshipping dead wood. The sacking of those two failures is long overdue.
Will firing Kalu and the coach help emprove Soccer standards in Zambia? To be honest, Foxy has never impressed me as a coach nor Kalu as a soccer administrator, but the problem is low soccer standards in Zambia goes beyond Kalusha and Herve. People should therefore sit an identify the real cause of our mediocricy rather than calling comestic remedies to footie in Zambia. The soccer fortunes its appears to me where tied in ZCCM, now that ZCCM is gone, a new approach to identifying and nuturing talent at an early age must be found, Investment in infrastructure is needed bla bla bla bla
This looks like it is personal. Kalu heads FAZ so his administration should be asked to fire the coach. You do not ask the administrators to resign. They do not coach the team. That is how football is managed. I think!
agreed!
kalusha bwalya should resign before he is forced out like we did when he spoiled our team as coach. How on earth can some FAZ president live outside his country? what soccer admin will he do? what successes have we achieved under him?
How many billions of kwacha do we keep wasting on him and his crew sending them all over the EU just for him to field some school going kids in a WORLD CUP PREPARATORY game? Where did you ever see such nonsense? and which fools among you is supporting such mediocrity?
Hello?
This guy should get the hell out and go live with his wife in SA working for Suppersport and FIFA, maybe his below per performance and services are needed there.
As for us, we will not allow this anymore and we will stone him if he does not take heed.
**** o’ yo! can you please allow these guys to do thier job.no wonder we can’t go anywhere because every now and then we are firing coaches and hiring new ones! zambian football is ****ed up at the moment and firing kalu and renard is not one of the solutions! shout out to RB!
Zambian football is unsavable!! Firing Kalusha wont solve the problem. How many Zambian footballers play for reknowned football clubs?? Zero.. I dont know why most of these Zambian football players consider playing for P*$$Y CLOT South African football clubs as a major professional break through..They should set their sites on English or Spanisg clubs..just maybe Zambia will qualify for any World Cup, otherwise forget and leave Great Kalu alone you good for nothing Kayuka!!!
RENARD as been courted by one ka tanzanianian stinking corrupt multi billionaire called manji to tutor his team called young africans replacing a serb called dusan kondic.he even expressed his wish to leave.and it was in the tanzanian press that he is not happy to be in zambia because KCM are no longer paying his wages and this ka tycoon syphons the tanzanian goverment and spend lavishly.so renard can’t resist the temptation so ka chikamba kali mukuya
has been courted it should read in my first paragraph.
the potential of zambian footbal must finally be positively restored,i agree with kayuka a macho like renard did not only bring inconfidence to the team but also shame to our football superiority in the continent, kalusha as a player did also not bring glory as of winning any tournament his dribbling tactics were more or less in vain, renard to me sounds like a romantic frenchman in the outskirts of paris and am sure his cv does not proclaim any legendary background, terminologies like great kalu are issues of the past,my suggestion is fire renard and mr bwalya and hire professional prominents who are able to remove the shame..
failing to plan is planning to fail, lets identify the successors before we fire the current incumbants!
Kalu’s FAZ presidency is only a result of boot-licking cadres intoxicated by nostalgic memories of his playing days and the prospect of financial gain. I’ll never forget the day he hired cadres to demonstrate in support of his then dual roles of national team coach and FAZ vice-president. It is widely accepted by discerning fans that Kalu is only using his time at FAZ to enable him mingle in the corridors of power and eventually get a sit on the FIFA board. He wants to be another Platini but is going about it the wrong. He barely spends any time in Zambia and is completely out of touch with reality. Remember the embarrassment we suffered at the hands of Ghana.Â
Renard is not a top coach but I think he is just about right for the money at stake and the current profile of our national…
I was about to lay down a highly sophisticated analogy on this topic but wifey just called…so I’m offf to bed to answer the great call of nature.
Kalu to resign?Yes
Kalu’s main campaign promise when he was contesting for the FAZ presidency was that he was the best person to guide Zambia to World Cup (WC 2010)qualification.He claimed that he had connections and contacts in the international Football that would enable him organize better preparatory games for the National team.Where is Zambia now?Eliminated from the WC 2010 qualification and now on the verge of not qualifying for AFCON in Angola.Simple reasoning says if he failed to deliver the goods. So he must resign.
Renard to resign?No
It’s not his fault that football stds in Zambia are low.He can’t be blamed for the fact that most of our international based players ply their trade for some 2nd teams even in SA.He had to make do with whatever resources that were available…
Kuya bebele!
we will not bask in past “great K-shit!” glory.
Non of the past FAZ executives has received so much $$ support from GRZ like this one, yet their performance/administration and achievements are far below par.
What Job shall we leave them to do? please! get a life people,
We have seen enough and it will not get any better. We need them replaced with people who can deliver. Even Anif Adams has proved more successful as a soccer administrator than any of these clowns!
They MUST get out!
or will will force them out.
Nine Chale Epowaba?
Read the article i wrote oon zampeople about KK11..Chipolopolo name has a curse. We need to change the whole team and the whole of FAZ.
Its not the coach and administration. Our players are the problem! They seem to have no imagination when the chips are down and even when the goal mouth is wide open! Jacob Mulenga you are a disgrace!
Zampeople is your site a spoof of journalist or are you really serious? Do you have any journalist training or even simple english comprehension and punctuation skills? Your site is horrendous and similar to a ghetto pimped myspace page.
Kalusha Bwalya has no giving heart, and is jelous of up coming young boys , take up his past reputation. For sure he should go.
Akaso bambuli imwe. How many times are we going to fire coaches and the administration I see some *****s wanted Kalu to win them the world cup-you f o o l s. Zambian football died when Kafupi sold the mines. You knobheads should realise the back born of Zambian football was ZCCM. Look at the players you have now. They all look like they are just about to die with akashishi. We used to have big players-Melu, Kazika, Jerico Shinde, Mulala brothers, Zyambo, Hangunyu, Emmy Musonda, Alex Chola, Johnson Bwalya, Kalu himself, and the others. They were all big guys. Look at the crap we have now. Leave him alone akaso bangwele.
Kalusha did not make himself great. Its we people who made him earn that sort of fame. So leave Kalusha alone and whether you like it or not calling Kalu to resign is not a remedy to the current state of affairs in the Zambian football . Kalu is still our only Icon in this soccer business and he is the only player to scoop the African footballer of the year in the Southern part of Africa. So people please stop manifesting your ignorance and shut up and go for work. Let the zed govt invest fully in this sporting industry if you want to capture excellent players.
With regard to the article, I also urge the president of Zambia to also resign out of humility and forward thinking. Imagine if this would happen like presidents in Botswana have done on numerous occasions. My prayers that you guys seek the Lord God Jehovah and his righteousness so as you raise children that shall not be terrors to the world.
Thanks slum dog…….fortunately I never studied journalism. I’m a business man. I use mysite for business. And yes, its a pimped out version of myspace because i hate static sites..lol
thnx for the positive criticism…u may see a change soon
Even if God was coaching this bunch of players they would not even win the Africa cup. Our best player Felix Katongo plays in the German second division and the rest play in some other mediocre leagues or are busy warming the bench on a second or third division European club. Our local players, surviving on nshima and kapenta with chibuku as desert are physically inferior. Look at how small they look when playing other teams especially north and west African teams. This is a question of poverty not Kalu or the coach.
What kind of credentials does Bob Kayuka have? I would also want to know how far he went with his educaation. The danger with us Zambians is, we love to follow such kind of people who never go anywhere. Someone should tell Bob to shut up.
Someone has already mentioned it, we’re the most gullible people on earth! Kalu was said to have “connections” at the time of ushering in the FAZ President, alas what do we see, corruption in very few transfers. Those who are soccer crazy do not see sense in this, that’s why you even go as far as thinking we shall qualify for this and that cup, nonsense people.
There is a reason there is management schools out there. Having being a great player does not necessarily translate into a good manager. To his defense tho, the standards have fallen so far below zero that it will take more a couple of years to turn things around. We need to get back to basics and let people do their work.
Kalusha can’t make miracles if player a busy drinking but Renard should go because he has failed to make player. remember Rwanda is still in contention.
More than a couple of years? Wisi boyi do you know what a couple of years mean? Or did you use it in the Zambian context meaning several? A couple is two batata and I can never see Zambian football improving in two years time. Someone said you can get SAF or even Arsene to manage Zambia, nothing will change. It`s the players we have got at the moment. More like pimping a Toyota Corona and believing it`s a Bently.
Hey,hey people, hold ya fire.Renard’s a good coach. It just that there’re no talented players in Zambia or is it to say that our players are not world class material.Which players to do you want hime to use.If the Zambian players had class they could have been playing in competitive leagues. You cant compare this team of “dwarfs and paper weights” to Adebayor’s Togo or Drogba’s Ivory Coast.Renard has got no option, but to use the available resources………..that’s the players that we have.Their lack of class is another thing and it aint Kalu’s or Renard’s problem!!!!!!!
It’s high time………………i saw this coming
It is not Kalu or Renard to blame. The adminstrators and coaches do their work. Now when players fail to play you blame Renard and Kalu. do you expect the coach to make 11 subs? The team is chosen based on what they put in during practice. With or without Kalu we will still be on the same level. You must look at the state of our local league and where our foreign players are playing their soccer. Lets be realistic and not use Great Kalu as a scape goat. You will never take away his GREAT title. He has been sitting on FIFA even before he became FAZ prez. Our players are not just up to standard period! YOU CANNOOT PLANT KALEMBULA AND EXPECT CRISP LETTUCE. Bola panshi bane.
Zambians are like South Africans living in denial about their football teams. We just dont have quality players period. Mention one good player or players capable of taking us to the world cup? All good African teams have players in competitive European football leagues. We need to create structures to produce quality players not just names. Kalusha on the other hand has achieved alot in football. Dont bring in your silly personal issues. Zambia has never been to world cup or won the Africa cup. Does this mean we have never had a capable FAZ administration? The gov should put in more resources to produce players.
Kalusha bwalya is still great .Its only that the source of his greatness is from play footbal. The great kalu is very good at playing footbal and scoring to make zambians happy. He doesn’t know administration skill .In short he has got know administration skills to manage footbal in zambia.Thats where he is failling us as zambians.Just let him go back to the picht i can asure you ,you will see kalu scoring balls and every zambian will be happy.
I miss the late team whcih could score even without kalu
Yahhh… You were the same pipo crying great kalu.. Great Kalu for FAZ …….. Now you see. Thats what you get for backing pipo for administative jobs with no past record in administartion. Some of you are talking about standards. Who better then FAZ boss to spearhead footie standards ? Im afraid not your great Kalu, who lives in SA and has not manegerial past what so ever he’d rather be on SABC.
abash kalu & renard
People please blame the players, the coach is never on the pitch, he can teach all what is required but if the player are not commited what do you expect? our players can’t run fast there ever drinking tu giligili.
The reason why most of you are calling for Kalu to resign is because you are a bunch of frustrated people and are jealous of him. That job of Faz president to Kalu is nothing, he is a guy you can fire today and the following day he will will have something from anywhere with a much higher pay. Like what some genuine gentlemen said above, the poor performance of the national team is due poor development structures and low standards at club level. My heart bleeds when I remember the great Kalampa Nkana Red Devils of the 80’s and early 90s, We were never eliminate from the African league by any team from south of the sahara and to be specific non Egyptian clubs ( Zamalek and Al Hilal).
Well now at least people know that being one of the greats means just that. Haniff Adam should have been appointed but people seem to forget he is just as Zambian as the rest of us and has done a lot more for zambian football behind the scene than KB and his ego!
Kalusha is great:
1. 1988-African footballer of the year, 2. played in Holland, Belgium, Mexico, speaks good english, good looking, top scorer Africa cup-1996, captained team after Gabon, we reached finals because of him, we almost made it to 1994- but Diramba, sits on FIFA and CAF committees, which Zambian player come close to this?
The FAZ executive must be elected on the premise of what targets they’ll attain in a given period, failure to which tey must voluntarilly step down. As long az they are elected to finish the four year term, we are done! And if Herve Renard waz appointed to coach the team without targets, then let him continue(The man had the cheek to say; ” you expect me to take you to the Worl Cup where you have never been!”).
#51, I meant it would take more than the time the two (Kalu & Renard ) have been in charge which I figured was about two years. So, to restate it, the standards are so far below zero that Kalu and Renard would require more time to actually effect any changes.
no 61 Iron Lion. That position Kalu occupies needs to go to someone pashonet about Zambian football., on the ground in Zed spearheading the development of football and youth football programes. That is the issue with some of you. Is he doing the above things ? or is he in SA ? As boss of FAZ he should be involved in football development in the country. If standards are low , who will fight to improve them ? maybe his secritaries.
We are sick of the same names in politics and now in soccer. Kalusha you have lived your worth of the credit you earned. It’s time for you to let others do things too. Take a rest and have some privacy with your new chick boy.
Bob what did you drink before issuing that statement. Follow the constitution nimwe ba grade 2?
Honestly speaking I can’t blame Renard and Kalu for Chipolopolo loss. The problem of no investment in sport is to blame. Look at our own Premier league and your heart bleeds. the standards areso pathetic, infrastructure is an embarrasment. There is no proper youth development programme. we are just reaping what we have sowed. In my opinion Renard is a very good coach.
No 22, explain how do you watch Zedi football on the internet?
gentalmen, Kalushya has failed for real, were is ian balaka, isaac chansa, clifford mulenga were is that team that beat south africa 3 0? all we see are the given singuluma, hichani, players we are looking for market to sell and marry in south africa. even if u say kalu was great for what? playing in mexico? lets open our eyes will never go anywere thats y even danis liwewe cant even tell us the line up today. i dnt even no our number 3. shamfull
FYOBE FYO #5. You’re excellent man!!!! I like your comment. Keep it up.
