MMD chief whip Vernon Mwaanga has urged foreign missions in Zambia to desist from attacking the Zambian Government because that was against demands of international diplomacy.
Mr Mwaanga said in Parliament yesterday when he contributed to a debate on President Rupiah Banda’s address during the opening of the fourth session of the National Assembly that there had been tutorials given to the Government by some diplomats serving in Zambia.
He said it was not right for diplomats to give tutorials to the Government and even attack decisions made by Parliament.
“Even in poverty our sovereignty as a country still stands,” he said.
He said foreign missions should follow established channels to render advice than doing it through the media.
He urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to follow up the matter because it had channels through which foreign missions were supposed to communicate to the Government.
Mr Mwaanga who said he was a trained diplomat said diplomacy was supposed to be conducted through established channels.
And the International Federation of Christian Churches (IFCC) president Simon Chihana urged diplomats accredited to Zambia to desist from commenting on internal matters of the country.
Commenting on the incessant statements by some cooperating partners on the acquittal of second Republican president Fredrick Chiluba, Bishop Chihana said Zambia was a sovereign State and implored the diplomats to stop meddling in internal matters.
In an interview in Lusaka yesterday, he said if Zambia’s representatives in foreign countries commented on internal matters of the nations where they serve, he was certainthose would be deported within the shortest possible time.
As such, he said, ambassadors accredited to Zambia should respect the country’s sovereignty.
“Zambia is a sovereign State and we would appreciate if foreign ambassadors accredited to this country stopped commenting on internal matters. Let internal matters be left to Zambians and let them realise that strangers cannot speak on the country’s internal matters unless they are invited to do so,” Bishop Chihana said.
He said though the cooperating partners were assisting Zambia , that should not be a guarantee to comment on internal matters.
“They should not use their aid as a weapon to condemn our court rulings because if they respected the ruling that was made in London, why not respect the ruling in Zambia after all both were done by competent judges,” Bishop Chihana said.
He said that ambassadors accredited to Zambia should play a role of reconciling the various political players in the nation as opposed to promoting divisions among citizens.
Recently some diplomats commented and expressed shock at the acquittal of Dr Chiluba by a magistrate’s court.
[Times of Zambia]
Iwe your diplomatic experience to reason with normalcy and not to join every Jim and Jack turning Zambia into Chibolya. UTH has no drugs because the THIEF stole the cash and bought small sized shoes. Just concentrate on your medication
Donors, please cut aid because these clowns are misusing it. Period ! Fikaisova
Hope Tom Carter is reading this.
Tom I would rather you give that £37million to people who want to go on benefits than give it to people who will turn round and insult you. Ba Mwaanga mwanyela kuntulo apapena!
Mwaanga, you are on medication, just go home and take a double dose then rest. You look tired and so are your thoughts..This pygmy marmoset monkey- CHILUBA has stolen money from poor zambians and when donors voice their concern, you start frothing at the mouth. We are tired of your foul smelling ejaculations…..
Mwebantu just what has gone wrong with these chancers called Reverends, Bishops, Pastor and well call them whatever you want.
For those not aware, the only sin Tom committed is by saying this:- “The developments in Chiluba’s case have sent very confused messages to the donor community. We [Britain] give Zambia about US $60 million each year in direct budgetary support, and we have to be accountable to the British taxpayers because they are the owners of this money,” High Commissioner Carter said. “We need to ensure that the money that we give to Zambia is being spent correctly.”
High Commissioner Carter said Zambia’s corruption fight should not just be in words and declarations, but be matched with action.
#6 Magicroundabout, They can be called Revs. Bishops, Pastors, etc. But take care and find out where and who trained them to become what they are. Some took only a 6-month programme, no depth! so what do you expect from some of these quarter-baked chaps???? remember in zambia there is a ‘university’ called Matero university. You can get any paper you wish: BA, MA, PhD, etc which would be recognised only by you! And remember there are many tutemba ‘churches’ which can call you all sorts of titles: Rev, Pastor, Bishop, etc only recognised by your small group and other unsuspecting innocent poeple in society!
the problem is these donors funded the task force in order to secure chiluba’s conviction without even eveluating the gravity of the evidence the prosecution had.so after the prosecution failed to get the conviction as they had fragile evidence.disappointment is what is creeping in looking at the amounts that were spent.so you can’t buy convictions to be seen that you are fighting corruption.even OJ simpson was aquitted of murder when the defence counsel outwitted the prosecution. did bill clinton play a hand.? So it applies to chiluba’s case.john cochran sangwa and simeza were too much for junior mutembo nchito
This Mwaanga should be on bed-rest
If you don’t want them to comment, stop getting their money!
If you don’t want them to comment, stop getting their money! Sovereign state my butt.
So it`s all about outwitting the plonker next door? Guilty or not? It`s all about who has authority then? I bet Brits will be happy to read your comments!
#13 For Akapondo. You might as well not get their money at all. The fact is if my tax didn`t supplement the Zambian budget, that country would come to a stand still, well, if not get into reverse gear (which I realistically believe it is).
Zed dwellers, the finger feeds you, you bite it, chew it and swallow it. The only reason the donors are commenting is that, the biggest account-holders in their land are Africans and Kafupi, to be specific has quite a lot a money in UK.
Those donors are only helping us. you our leaders MWANGA you have no heart for your own people, if you donnot provide for your own children do you think your neighbour will ;; now you must face it for the passed 45years Zambia is still sinking into deeper poverty donors have given so much that has been stollen by you our leaders you dont care about your people
Mwaanga plse get your retirement package and rest
What soverenity madness if all of our ecomomic growth depends on the donors. If you get their money be ready to dance to their tune. Don’t bit the finger that feeds you. Grow up!!!
Unlike Zambia, the British govt and other sane governments are accountable to the electorate or taxpayers. If you don’t want their comments, say no to their money
Mr Mwaanga I really feel sorry for you because your state of mind is highly suspect.
This is the problem with using old and wasted politicians. Times have changed since the 70s when all types of blunders were covered up and people were just shifted around to cover inefficiency. The media exist as a cornerstone of our democracy. Our MPs do nothing but look forward for the next paycheck and there is no one to voice important concerns. Our sovereignty has been sold by politicians like mr chiluba and mwaanga that have stolen from national coffers. Please do not insist that were are independent since we depend on these people for our well being. The concerns by these diplomats are genuine and are in the public interest. It is politicians like mr mwaanga who are a real danger to our sovereignty.
Mwanga has always been in govt since 1964 if you look at him critically you will learn that the way he is wornout that is how zambia is also gone down no developement at all only sinking and sinking we need some change in leadership if mother zambia will develop
I fail to understand which sovereignty VJ is talking about. The happenings in the Judicary, Mulongoti’s comments at Radio Mano, FTJ’s push for restoration of lost immunity, and many other issues once analyzed and understood together will make any sane person conclude that what VJ has said is R U B B I S H! It dosn’t make sense. Indifference is the waste crime. VJ doesn’t expect diplomats to remain quiet to the trash that is being peddled by this govt. Don’t just claim your so called sovereignty, which I don’t see, understand what Tom has said.
Does it mean we dont have young vibrant men and women to take care of our country affairs unlike using these outdated politicians with full of politics of benefit? When one is on medication they need a bed rest. If you talk too much, you might end up insulting a chief ( Donors)
The likes of Mulongoti can even kill just to ensure that an oldman rules beyond 2010. This is what deters not only young vibrant and other luminaries from joining politics. At the end of the day you are confused whether it service or benefits or survival that draws some people to politics. Why do we have Munkombwe, Kibaki, Michuki, VJ, Mugabe etc in politics today? When Kamuzu lost elections, he was too old to answer to allegations of crimes committed when he was presdo. Now how could have he ruled Malawi had he won elections against Muluzi
sorry dementia exposed vj no need to cry foul over someone s cash.no free things
I would be inclined to agree with the foreign diplomats if the ones throwing stones did not have any skeletons in their cupboards (Mmembe). The fight against corruption can not be selective.
Arresting of percieved political opponents is by no means a fight against corruption. Almost all our politicians are candidates for Chimbokaila. It depends on who is presdo. There is so much political interference in all aspects of life in Africa. Given chance, even this thread can be closed now
Now extending threats to the hand the feeds you VJ. Unlike you bunches of rubbish their govs have to answer to the taxpayer’s hard earned money. Be careful with your words, these statements were made cus you dont want to be outdone in bootlicking. If you were a trained diplomat then you would know how to be diplomatic with your tone and words. You wrestle day and night with the Post but rest assured these same donors are very powerful with equally powerful medias that can destroy you and the image of our nation in a heartbeat-look at Zim.
Tom has every d a m n right to comment and the world is watching-be careful with the nonsense you say in public. Those same boots you lick will kick you in the face one day. Chiluba stole their money, you are stealing their money right now…
Its not a nice thought but when I read things like this or any nonsense statments by these politicans I just wish they could all bundle on some plane together with RB and the Lord can just smack that plane from the sky-enough is enough!
LT, what is this process of awaiting moderation? I thought we are all free to express our views? If you have suddenly become a gov media please do come out in the open as there is nothing wrong with my comment-just I am, like the majority here, not happy with this VJ chap-he should just drop…
When is this parasite going to do us all favour and disappear off the political scene? Parasites like him and Mulongoti never even contest elections. There is a Deja Vu feeling about what is happening. The foreign envoys will simply switch off aid and Zambia will turn into another Zimbabwe.
Don’t bite the finger that feeds you. If you do not want the diplomats to interfere,do not get their money. The Chinese rarely borrowed from the west and repaid all they owed that is why they were able to pursue their internal affairs freely, so have the Venezuelans, Libyans etc. But poor Zambia, just a week of sanctions and we will end up being another Zimbabwe.
Mr Vj, what are you talking about? Even the free ARVs that you are taking are donor funded. Why don’t you want the owners of drugs to take stock?
VJ may have become vocal because Shala Mwana is on her way back to Zed. He may be thinking of taking her to livingstone again!
When will we Zambians stand up and say enough is enough. These incompitance politicians should learn to be humble enough to keep their mouth shut, respect those who feed them. Are they too old to find some other careers. They think they know much about politica snd zambia, what foolishness. The late president PLM throw out some of these, unnecessary outdated politicians i just wonder how they came on board. Wht is it that RB saw in them? Birds of the same…
If that picture i saw in the Post website is a true reflection of him VJ, i don’t shala mwana will fall for him
My question to Zambian citizens is why should foreign diplomats speak for your needs. The only reason they are speaking is because Zedians are quiet as usual as spineless politicians plunder the country. What sort of people are we who do nothing in the face of being robbed. The British colonial masters had been right when they noted that Zambians were like this. I have not seen any demonstrations against the thefts at MOH, Chilubas requital and soon to be granted immunity and many more. I now respect the Kenyans when they said enough was enough.
Thou shall not reap where you did not sow. Donors, cut off the aid and see what happens. That way we shall be made to work harder and develop in the real sense. Please don’t promote laziness.
I don’t see how the words spoken by Tom would influence the course of justice and he does not comment in the course of the trial. All he is asking is what every concerned stakeholder( of which he is) is how strong are our institutions?
Seriously people have to debate these matters freely, I thought the only time you cannot comment on these matters is when the case is going on. If VJ is a trained diplomat, he should have experienced how much talk there is after and before such cases in America and United Kingdom.
Zambia will never get politically developed without the freedoms of speech. Yes we all under law, and that’s why Tom waited until the course of justice has taken place and after we have the right to comment and say what we think.
Hey!!! Can it be true?? Is VJ still alive??? I thought I heard that his skull had become rotten and had passed on in South African clinic. Welcome back home VJ. No more rigging of elections with your extended life, eeh!!!
What moderation LT?????
pls baVJ tapapata, don’t formulate stupid laws for our kids, just die baMudala,we tired of you.we don’t even need chililo upon your death, mwativuta but vapaka!
Spot on Mr.VJ. I still do not understand why particularly the west want to think they are competent in African affairs when they are still grappling with corruption themselve. Today you can’t go to the UK and begin to comment on their corruption, they will either label you one terrorist or another thing. The economic crisis we face today is a creation of the corruption in in these countries. Who tells that man from uk that he is wiser than our judiciary. He must keep quiet and stick to protocal. He is welcome to go and participate at the Post newspaper as editor in chief designate.Don’t come to Zambia and start behaving as though you just landed from heaven, if there was a time when the west could potray that picture that time is long gone.We are in the know now.Mutual respect is key.
Excuse me Mr. “trained diplomat”, what have you done for Zambia, except use bombastic language to confuse Zambians? If you are so concerned about diplomats commenting about Zambia, then you should stop accepting donor funding. Did they not teach you about accountability at your “diplomatic school”? May I remind you, that tax payors in those same countries supply your funding. Your time is up, get some rest and write more of your self-serving memoirs.
#38 you are so right. When are Zambians going to be outraged by what is going on? Why are we so docile? As long as we keep quiet and accept the status quo, these leaders will keep taking us for a ride.
Anyway I don’t like VJ, but I think he has a valid point on this one as free and independent Zambians we need to support our Tonga brother. Diplomats should not be attacking our Govtment. We can do it as citizens. This was a breach of protocol. Just as it is okay for us black to call each other niga, this does not give a white boy to call us nigga’s if you know what I mean. I think I have never seen, read or watched Leslie Mbula attacking SA politicians here. So guys lets us not get blinded by the hate for VJ . He is an experienced man and he has a point here.
#43. See Through. Stop deluding yourself and learn to be honest. The UK does not need a poor country like Zambia. Zambia needs the UK more than the UK needs Zambia. Grow up and stop being bitter for nothing. I do not know how old you are but there are certain things you just have to accept.
Mwaanga, these diplomats are the representatives of the tax payers whose money you misuse. They are sent there to Zambia to see that the money they send to you is spent in accordance with their set rules. When money is squandered, do you expect them to keep quiet? Why is it always right for MMD to use the media and if others does the same it becomes an issue? Why do you think the media is there for? It is only for the MMD guff balls? Let people and the world know that something is wrong. Let us hope you wont attack CNN for that video of the Zambian embarrassment at the UN.
Lusaka times. Are you having problems? Is Shikapwasha on your back? How come every comment now is scrutinized to the last word?
#46 True PF. Tom is not calling anyone names nor is he attacking Zambians let alone the government. The problem you blacks have is you do not accept criticism. Infact, he is not even criticising anybode here. He is only demanding an explanation. Surely there is nothing wrong in doing that by someone. And, he is right this money comes from people sweating it out day after day only for someone to pocket the money just like that.
I only wait for a day they will stop giving to plonkers like you.
I really want to beat up the whole of cabinate!
In one breath VJ complains about the protocol used by diplomats to comment is wrong, however, in the same breath not following the protocol in Chiluba’s appeal case is acceptable.
VJ and the MMD publicly receive donor money for Zambia. Additionally, bear in mind fellow bloggers that they are still begging for more. However, when donor money like K27 billion goes missing they do not want to be criticized about how they handle corruption cases.
My conclusion, you can not have it both ways. VJ it is time to retire and let a younger person do your job. I always wonder whether any of you have thought of making use of your pension.
Do these politicians read the complaints we always blog. if they do why are they so dull to just pick a few points and learn how Zambians are betrayed ;; it indeed breaks our hearts how our own people are (killed) by these politicians who steal money meant for their medical services;;
Zambia’s political scenario stems from a few recycled politicians who do not want to retire. They use the same tactics to win elections and do not want to let the young generation to take part. My question is what are all the young people in Zambia doing about it? Zambia is dealing with an old school mindset in the 21st Century and it is affecting the country’s progress. Dr Kaunda became president of Zambia when he was 40 which was encouraged by the ruling chiefs. Our problem is in the last 44 years somewhere along the line the baton of leadership is not being passed on to the younger generation. This picture is wrong, no wonder so many young Zambians are in the Diaspora and do not want to take part in politics.
Mwaanga utundila in politics still talking, u made politics as the only thing u can do in life and u cant do anything else in life it seems, please spare us from your corrupt mind.
A lot of bloggers here are just muzungu puppets. Britain could not be where it is now if it was not for the free lablour of Africans. They are also selective in those they condemn. Howcome nobody is forcing Museveni to have multi-party politics in his country? The British are doing business with Gaddaffi, when was the last time that the people in his country were allowed to to express themselves freely. Do they really think that Sata is the Mr Clean of Zambian politics or Mr Mmembe or even the late LPM?
MMD has been ruling for the last 19 years and the wealth of Zambia is not trickling down to the poor. How many of these so called preachers are standing up for the poor. When it comes to corrupt Chiluba they are ready to stand up and twist the word of God to suit the corrupt environment in Zambia. The donor countries are doing the work MMD has not done in places like the health sector etc. for the last 19 years. No one is perfect but by the grace of God they try. However, These pharisees and Chiluba use Christianity for political advantage using it to control people without a voice. They want to end accountability which contradicts God’s word. When Jesus spoke his actions matched his words.
Mwaanga should not lie to people that he is a trained diplomat, when KK sent him to Moscow at 21, he was functionally illiterate. This is common knowledge. Trained diplomats are people like the late Gwen Konnie, Givens Lubinda, Kasuka Mutukwa etc, not VJ. Any trained diplomat would never have tried to establish ties with the National Party of South Africa on the verge of Madiba’s release from prison or worse still court diplomatic ties with Taiwan. If he is a diplomat, then he is a quack one. About sovereignty, had he been to school he would know no poor man or country has one.
48 I was contributing on the important subject of soverenity of state.I think this matter calls for mutual respect in the discourse.Which I think is above your “grow up comment” this does not in any way show us why you feel Zambia must sit and listen to a uk diplomat lecture us on issues am convinced we have capacity to compentently handle. The attitude of thinking that the west is needed more than they need us will perpetually condemn our great nation to continued dependence that the uk and the west at large need to forster their own agenda. If you think they have your interest at heart, to borrow your term, you are deluding yourself.Do you know that you are Zambia’s aid to the uk and many other nationals that are making that country tick ? Mutual respect in these matters is cardinal.
Sorry to deviate from the topic. I have just read an article in the post where Chiluba states that whoever criticizes him pokes God’s eye. Firstly, that is blasphemy God is so holy that every power bows before him even a finger. Secondly, God loves every human being on earth. Does he not think that when he sold industries which were people’s livelihood in Zed he made Zed dependent on foreign aid? Did those poor Zambians left without jobs not cry out to God for their suffering? Does he think he is the only person in Zambia allowed to be corrupt and evade the law? If Chiluba was the perfect Christian leader why did he not build a single school or hospital during his reign? Does the bible not say judge my people by their fruits? Thirdly, Chiluba is ready to accuse and judge donor…
Thirdly, Chiluba is ready to accuse and judge donor countries for dirty money. However, he conveniently does not admit his mistakes. How can you remove a speck from your brother’s eye when you have a log in your own. Lastly, Zambians beware of wolf in sheep’s clothing?
MAGICROUNDABOUT,to hell with your peanuts.which country can come to a halt without your paltry tax?pay that tax there to assist the white man take care of the queen you immigrant.infact just save your meagre earnings so that you can have something little to invest when you come back home.or else even here we will employ you asshole.you still in that old fashioned mode of bragging about staying in europe?i feel sorry for you.if i may ask you.how do those homos fund a trial in court as if they are funding a developmental project or a race?so they should accept the outcome.failure to which it is a conspiracy.and tell them we dont need their AID it’s just a catalyst of poverty.infact it is a tool a white man uses to blackmail a blackman so that he can always remain indebted to him.swallow…
LT you guys are being bribed, there are certain characters who can puke any ship and you dont moderate them.some of us even if i send a scripture you want to moderate it.piss off.
Akapondo, if you want all your articles published, grow up and stop wasting people’s time with comments that just do not make sence or are without any logic. Va bupuba uleke we munthu iwe LT apapata sure!
sebuloni kamutanda, banoko indofu ukutikama.it’s good for you *****s to desparage others and find it hard to swallow when it comes your way.a m a s o ukukosa nga wire bulasho.

If you dont make enough by jumping on that stick, take your frustrations else where.nkakulepwila akashi kobe ine nshakwata mano.
Why has LT not reported that the high court quashed the contempt proceedings against Prof Ndulo , mmembe and Mujuda of the Post. This happened 2 days ago? Just curious…….
V.J hope you not going now to Thailand where some doctors have made strides in finding a vacination for a certain sickness….By the way ´´they now realize that ´´don´t bite the hand that feeds you´´
Akapondo the millions Zambia recieves which Tom was talking about is as a result of small contributions from people like me. I bet it`s difficult for you to figure that one out. What with that foul mouth!
Chi Vernon,Shut your adulterous mouth .It is only in this corrupt country with useless leaders where you can even open your mouth. You are a finished product whose only interest is to enjoy yourself.Lay off and do what ypu are renowned for, having children from even your girlfriend’s children
Yes ba VJ is it OK for the Chinese to threaten to withdraw their investment if you allow Sata to win, and then you complain when the British guy says he is “shocked”? Which is worse?
MAGICROUNDABOUT,your pride invites a foul mouth.it’s evident from your postings that you look upon us like underperfoming beings.we might be led by an inept political leadership but we are able people paying taxes triple of what you bragging about.those whites are faulty.they act on impulse.in 1999 me i realised that there was something amiss with chiluba.and i had no doubt that somehow he was betraying people’s trust and started stealing.when we we voting for chiluba in 1991.we persevered for him we were being ambushed by unip vigilantes and state sponsored shushu’s.but we had faith in the man an on the orizon we could see both politica and economical emanticipation.and chiluba was then a very humble and down to earth man with modest dressings.and we sood for him.

CONTND. So after ushering chiluba into office with a landslide victory in 2001.he performed well in the first term.that’s why in 1996 he had an easy victory over self overated dean mungomba.come 1998.chiluba teamed up with the likes of faustin kabwe and all leadership qualities eroded.you could tell from how he started to dress.when i first saw him in a gold rimmed set of spectacles and leather jacket, high heeled designer shoes.i came to realise that my president in whom i had too much faith has hit cloud nine.he even became arrogant when responding to public reaction.castro was on rampage shooting anyhow withot any parental guidance and it confirmed my fears.chiluba was lost.divorce was the last straw.enter regina.the divorce it’s self was well orchestrated buy eric and sata.CONTD
In an nutshell.am saying when chiluba started carrying out all these extravagancies.all these donors knew and instead they were hearding to his office to hail him as a beacon of democracy.zambians realised and started complaining.the donors with all the money they were putting in the economy were quite.chiluba challenged us to produce evidence.instead of the whiteman assisting us buy providing auditors to audit their finances they remained quite enjoying dining with chiluba. the democrat.so now that as zambians we managed to bulldoze chiluba to court and whatever transpired what do these people with long noses want to tell us?you whites are wapped you dont have our interests at heart or else you would have helped us catch chiluba in his pants.so magicroundabout keep on kissin their…
AKAPONDO
Well spoken and from what I see, you stand our history very well. I lived those time of the vigilantes and were really annoying Chiluba was our saviou gr.
I think with that background you are giving, the point here is. Chiluba himself before was a champion of democracy( We all agree Chiluba brought a lot of good changes including food abundance and the stability of the Kwacha and the end to Vigilante queuing civil servants including teachers and nurses-Am still coming) Do you remember, the role of shushushu being elaborated by the chiluba government?
Thanks, that truly Chiluba changed and the Castro case is one good example of how the chiluba image was tarnished.
Analysis of what makes African and the Arab leaders infallible and all knowing is that our freedoms of speech are thwarted and so leaders stay on and on cause there’s no condemnation and it doesnt matter where it comes from. We all have people we don’t like for one reason or the other, but we still have to respect their opinion.
I dont like the way Kaunda led us for instance, the socio economic status left a lot to be deired, but I dont hate him as a person.
True democratic values are such that people speak freely and that truth people free to make decisions not only about leadership but about their lives also. We have a lot hidden from us you will believe me and we just hear things from rumormongers and valued decisions are delayed as poverty keeps on thriving in the scum and dirt.
Its just human nature that we want to hide to enjoy that sweet wrong way of life, but for the the sake of others, ideals such us free speech have gained ground representing the majorities and so that a positive balance is achieved.
Unfair leaders are always there and mostly its not their intentions to be, but oppennes and criticism are ways of informing them that what ever they campaigned on to become leaders is now long overdue and that others would do…
ZAMBIA IN THE SUN, thanx for your acknowledgement and extras, you know, the problem with this blog is that half brains are plenty.people like magicroundabout feel like they are the masters of the blog.you swallow whatever they puke, you differ in opinion with them you are on the receiving end especially that they are in europe.what idiocy.issues should have a history and based on that people should make a judgement based on their own opinion which should be respected.chiluba stole, levy started the prosection.assuming chiluba annointed sata as his succesor and sata came to be president do you muppets think that chiluba would have ended up in court.you wouldn’t even have been making all this fuss about chiluba.these whites are a scam.they are a let down.
Akapondo I have to read your essay first and blimey you have decided to post under a different screen name. But look , you`ve got your “knickers” twisted here. The same basungu you were saying should f off are the ones you are crying out to-they should have helped catch Kafupi? Is it their duty? Blimey we might as well give them the country! lol!
Magicroundabout
I think Akapondo’s context is that, the west has changed context in a number of issues,( Look at Megrahi release, is it not true that one of the reasons is cheap oil; ) and cant easily be trusted, but the point am making is that stereotyping, and labeling are not an effective basis for judgment and decision making. Tom was commenting after the courts had ruled and there’s nothing wrong with that, so whether Tom is British or not does matter, he is pointing out, that Chiluba’s corruption case outcome sends confusing messages to the British Taxpayer( Hopefully you and me inclusive-That Zambians dont care if one steals donor aid, maybe because they didn’t work for it after all. And its true that it is going to be cheaper to import from Libya. Russia closes the tap…
These decisions make the pound stronger-to put it lightly and cant be quoted-What necessitates making decisions on military action in the west and whether necessary or not are usually economic reasons hidden behind moral and security reasons. Luxurious lives in the west mean, you have to sustain the flow of these supplies at affordable cost or the people will not vote for you and so politicians are under pressure to source and provide for their people; My government’s priorities are different, you and I know that, if as president, you keep the gun faraway from you in terms of a coup de tat, you can rule for as long as you want. The vote, you will have the means to control the ballot and so whats your worry? A well paid army general is all you need. Appeasement is next…..keeping sacred
cows. I have a burning debate in me perhaps this is not the forum, but, my point finally is; I listen and make my own judgment about stuff. Theres nothing wrong with Tom making that statement, he is expressing his own opinion about this matter and probably representing many British Taxpayers.
What a load of rubbish! What ever happened to freedom of speech?
Typical of currupt politicians. The minute somebody points out what he/she
felt was an incorrect and surprising decision- referring to the court’s decition
In the Chiluba acquittal trial- just as many “Zambians” had expressed their
Disappointment. Nothing wrong at all!
Should he, along with his fellow diplomats and all of those that were not happy with the court’s
decision called a meeting at state House? What a waste of tax payer’s money that would
have been! And why is the Government’s Chief Whip warning and threatening diplomats and
those that wish to express their dismay of a court ruling? I am sure nobody has done anything illegal,
nor are they inciting violence, nothing of that sort, but merely giving…
an opinion!!
And if their comments Are inciting in any way, let the courts deal with them? After
all the president is always on hand to remind us about the rule of law, innocent until
proven guilty and all of that malarkey!
Recently Scotland’s justice secretary released the Lockerbie bomber on human itarian grounds. He
As well as the Scottish government received severe criticism from within and outside the
Country, but he did not turn around to warn and threaten everybody. Why? Because we
Are supposed to live in a world were freedom of speech and expression is encouraged, where people’s
opinions are respected!
Last week The president was in New York addressing the UN and encouraged the US and Zambians living
abroad to invest in Zambia. I would like to ask his…
“Excellency” and his “Chief Whip” how such
Comments are supposed to encourage investment, be it, from Zambians abroad or as FDI??
Stop making threats each time your decisions are questioned-and this is not the last time we will question you by the
way-just get on with the job that our taxes pay you to do! If you do not want to be questioned by the electorate and
taxpayers, then vacate your posts and pave way for genuine people that would like to develop our PEACEFUL country!!
Mwaanga is right. Diplomats have ways and means of expressing their grievances with a government. However, having said that why do we feel so inferior that our media have to approach foreign diplomats to find out what they think about our government? Can you imagine the Times in London asking the Zambian High Commissioner to comment about a British court case? OK, the British may have contributed to the Task Force funding but surely they should be able to support any judicial outcome unless they have proof that the Judiciary was leaned upon?
Ba LT, may you please expel Akapondo from this site? He is insulting, its not acceptable..
It looks like you are siding with Akapondo’s insults, I can repeat myself for all I care, i have to make it sink in your heads, that we cannot allow blogger to be insulting women here!!!!!!
68… Which world do you live in…LT is now functioning mukwapa yaka RB…… sh*****t scared out of their pants to be aligned to The Post, even if its their duty to report, fili ekotulya…
Lets be realistic Zambians. I fully support VJ. There is plenty of shit happening in the UK at the moment and i bet its not in the interest of Zambia to meddle in the affairs of Britain. Bilateral relationships should remain as such and should never be used to interfere in the smooth running of another government. We are a sovereign state and we surely deserve respect. Whats the fuss about Chiluba’s acquittal? Its like the man was convicted even before the courts decided. So what was the use of taking Chiluba to court in the first instance if a verdict had already been made. Its the foolishness of a few stupid Zambians that has tarnished the image of judiciary all because of their selfishness.
If we are not very careful with some of these media houses such as the POST, we will get brain washed. Diplomatic missions world over have a code of conduct which they abide by. The tactics the POST use could be compared to the the DEVIL’s strategy. To increase sales, they compile a long list of individuals and organisations that they target over some period of time concerning a hot topic. As the days pass by they quote statements from these individuals and turn them into HOT HEADLINES to attract unsuspecting people’s attention. If you read the POST everyday its rare that you will get the best news other than that which is full of hatred, divisions and distortions. TIME will JUDGE the POST.
If you people didn`t have the post you would never ever get a negative in the media. Do you expect the Times and Daily Mail to write crap? Bushe bambi mwalikalapo where there is freedom of speech and the papers are independent? Ati umwana ashenda atasha nina ukunaya. Thank the Post for all this.
BA BISHOP CHIHANA, AND YOU CALL YOURSELF MAN OF GOD. THE PROBLEM WE HAVE IN ZAMBIA NOW IS THAT. PASTORS ARE TALKING MUCH AND DEFENDING CHILUBA BECAUSE CHILUBA IS GIVING THEM MONEY. AMA PASTORS BESU INSALA. CHIHANA WABA MUSULA
#22..walya…am always saddened when i hear the name VJ, i get sick because whatever the man is connected with does not sound genuine.the comments on chiluba’s acquittal follows suit.pls patient VJ get a life and stop deteriorating us by your comments.Keep yo comments in your heart tukakushike nayo..please we beg..am really tired with this finished man..when is your tetamalilo..sorry but hey the man deserves it
These Diplomats are the only ones who can express themselves freely,ZAMBIANS WE HAVE NO FREEDOMS WAKE UP AND CHASE THE HYEANAS,THEY’VE COME TO EAT THE CHICKENS IN THE CO-OP,TAKE YOUR STICKS AND CHASE THEM TO EDGE OF TOWN….
