Watch out for independence celebrations from Saint Petersburg,Russia on saturday, the 31st of october 2009.
This just shows us how we are all so proud of our nation, the only thing that brings us down is the greed amoung our leaders. You can see the patriotism in the eyes of these Zambians and the hope for a better Zambia that they have. Time for Rupiah his sons and his government at large to go!
fantastic pictures, chalilila pa zed!ZAMBIA the REAL Africa!!!!!!!!!
Were non-Bembas also allowed to celebrate in Kasama?
I say thumbs up to all you fellow Zambians who have kept the spirit of patriotism and see the need to celebrate this national day wherever you. Those who waste their time advocating that we all join them in writing off this day like their hateful spirit is doing, must be ashamed.Sata opposed the liberation of our country and cannot be expected to see the need for this day. This is why only patriots should be condoned to ascend to the office of the Presidency because they have national interest at best.Viva mama Zambia! Keep the spirit of our Zambianess together.
I ask PF cadres here like Kufwenamwine to print these Globally celebration parties photos and deliver them to Sata to shame his unpatriotism and hatred for our country.
Yaba…i miss home enshita tu gelo tupwalala pa-zed.kutulyafye for free, iyeeee kuba ngamuka LOTI…..

#13,are you really ok today?there is nothing for free ,man be very careful AIDS is real, control yoself!!!!!!!!!
What exactly are all these people celebrating? This was just another excuse for Zambians to get flipping drunk. In the meantime after 45 years the country is a disgrace. Our leaders have failed us in every possible way, Infrastructure is horrible, the economy? That is another story, street kids everywhere, cases of HIV/AIDS are still on the increase, not enough jobs to go around, not enough Learning Institutes, accomodation being built but only for the rich and considering that 70% of the population lives on $1 a day, that’s not alot of rich peole. Our president is never in the country becoz he is out scouting for more funds for him and his ministers to plunder. Its quite sad that after 45 years we still depend on the western world to take care of us. Awe sure ni mwachuleni kwena!!!!!

St. Petersburg twabwela! Watch out LT!
You can only afford to kwasa like that in the diaspora. Back in zed we were busy chasing fuel and food stuffs. There was nothing to celebrate accept for those who chew taxpayers money day in day out.
Show us the pictures from Malawi also.
people in the diaspora pretending to be independent.
It appears these pipo living abraod are more Zambians than those of us who are at home.Or its coz of having some disposable income. They celebrated 45 yrs of independence in style. I have not seen any phot from Lubumbashi or Pretoria.
I didn’t hear of the feast in France!! what happened guys? it is now two years that nothing happens
Oslo mwashaina! Wait for sweden next year.We are going to start planing now.
Fantastic pictures and nice to celebrate 45th Independence in style. Thats how much important this day is to patriotic Zambians. We celebrated ours in style too at Munde Village in Kalabo district were had gone for work.
Good pictures. We must be proud of being Zambians.
moscow here we go tulesangwa munchende thanks LT respect!!!!
It would have been nice to see how the street kids, orphans and asset stripped widows in Zambia’n cities “celebrated” 45 years of independence. For the rest, we know that this was just one excuse for indulgence. As they say, ‘Any excuse for a party, hey…’
Na ifwe fwe bena Mongolia twaliposapo ama pics, ba LT balepaula!
Oslo, Oslo, Oslo, Oslo wonderful bane, good job.
Zambians all over the diaspora what are you celebrating in a foreign land? being IMMIGRANTS?
what about us in SA ba Chirwa.
finally Atlanta we are represented, that was cool
All these celebrations, what for? Just last week I received a form to register a company in Zambia and guess what, the form asked me to sign that I abide by the “1892 british law” What does it take for someone at the Registrar to see that forms they are sending out are so outdated, and here we are celebrating what for!
Well done mother Zed, thanks to all that sent pix that is nice
This is a real problem for Zambia…we need to start celebrating economical freedom… but as usual in Zambia, this is a perfect oppotunity to drink. What is there to celebrate if 90% of the pipo live in poverty???. That’s why political parties just buy beer to win elections. The more beer a political party can buy, the more votes are expected. We need to make GRZ work by boucoting these celebrations…though i doubt give the huge appepite for beer and braai..
I sent a box of goods worth $1600, customs at the airport charged me $3000 to clear the goods. What is the difference now and the colonial days when our own so called government charges 170% on goods. Something that I buy for $2 by the time it lands in Zambia it costs $30. And then the government talks about high prices and eradicating poverty. Our own Government with these high taxes is the root cause for all our problems.
to all the guys here saying that we shouldn’t celebrate coz most of the pipo in zed are in poverty that is failure to reason!!!! why do i say so? coz poverty has been there and it will be there not only in Zambia but also in European countries!!!! i feel its better to have freedom than having food without freedom!!! that’s my opinion!!!!!
This is really nice to see people celebrating. Wish they could have shown ma zedians ba pa jozi. In Oslo it looks like the muzungus were feeling the track “Ona Mamy” by JK. In pic number one, thats why balaichena ba fitusha, riding a bike with no proper shoes on or fall gear! Bati lokombwe niwa n.y.e.l.e.
People posting negative comments about Independence Day celebrations have forgotten the meaning of being independent and the whole essence of celebrating. Yes we are poor country but if we dont drink and just sit at home will that change our poverty status??? Or will the registrar of companies suddenly realise he has outdated forms??? Let people celebrate, relax and come togther even for a day, we deal with problems every other day so please……..
Ba speechless, that is what happens when you want to undervalue the goods.
Don’t be negative bane. We were celebrating our independence away from home. While I understand ati insala pa Zed, but that’s not even a good enough reason to be posting negative comments for those of us who went out and supported the parties. Yes, I drunk more than 16 beers and had a good time. Does that make me less sensitive to the problems in my country? Come on people, don’t just complain becuuse you couldn’t/didn’t get to do anything. #53 Speechless, I feel your frustration my friend. I’ve been in that position myself. You’re so right about our government…this is a major issue. That’s why I am very critical of RB’s recent statement to Zambians abroad to return home and invest. Just to get through Zed customs is a freaking nightmare plus akubosha bosha here and there?…
# 57 purebreed, that’s not correct my friend. When you under value something, you still end up paying for it anyway. The issue is, the taxes imposed by our Zambian Government is just ridiculous. Simple math here: you send a carto Zambia worth say…5000USD by the time you get through, you end up paying almost between 1800-3000USD on top of what you’ve already spent. So, if this is a car you’ll be selling then where is the logic here? It’s things like these that make it so hard for many who would like to go home and start something money generating ventures. Try to go and register to get a business license in Zambia today and see how much crap you’ll put up with (if you even get it) These are REAL issues my friend and not fairy tales. Have you ever dealt with Zed customs…
MOSCOW, RUSSIA
It used to be like that during our days (1982-1988) with Ruskaya Vodka and Dyevshki. The only difference is that we needed NO invitation b’coz we were the organizers ourselves.
Now back home, the life’s tune uttered its fame and everything went dry. Anyway it’s okey since some animals are more equal than others, so they think.
Purebreed do not make assumptions if you have never been in this situation. My good were sent directly from the manufacturer to Zambia. The fact that the manufacturer had a better air freight rate to send the goods I agreed that they send them directly. Being in the USA were it is illegal to change a invoice they sent it as. The Zambian customs people told me the prices on the invoice were way too low, without even considering the fact that I have a business in the US I was able to get discounts on the goods at wholesale. In fact they even said our policy is to assume every invoice that comes through in Zambia has been changed. How can we have government workers promoting lies or wanting people to make up invoices.
Nice photos congratulations  LT Oslo number one.
Crates, I agree with your point on Zambians returning home. The next time RB or another president asks Zambians abroad to come home. We really need to not just listen to the speech but to interject and ask these so called leaders what items have been put in place, especially when it comes to this customs duty etc. It makes you wonder how the Indians and Chinese get through this nonsense. If anyone has any idea let me know, because I find it hard to know that I have to go through such headache as a Zambian. Unfortunately these Customs officers do not realize that at the end of the day it is not the business owner that suffers. The business owner passes the customs cost on the local Zambians their relatives that end up paying so much money for stuff that is not worth that much.
What about us in Germany? Where are we bana ba Mama Zambia. Please Zambians leaving in Germany we need to create a net work and keep in touch. May be it´s only I who don´t know where others are.
