Three female Monalisa School pupils drowned at Adventure city in Lusaka, on Friday.
Police Spokesperson Bonny Kapeso confirmed the incident in a press statement made available to Zanis in Lusaka yesterday.
Mr. Kapeso said the three were among fellow pupils who had gone on an educational tour at adventure city when they met their fate at around 14:00 hours.
Mr Kapeso disclosed that the trio has been identified as Bernice Namusa aged 12 years, Kakulu Mate aged 11 years old and Mirriam Mambwe aged six years old.
The spokesperson has since advised the general public to be extra cautious especially when accompanied by children at all times.

iye…adventure city is death city
adventure city is death city
This is realy sad news. MTSRIP
Too sad, but I do not subscribe to this culture of warnings after accidents, do it before!
what really happened? no life savers around??? mtsrip
The problem is that in Zambia we do not take issues of health and safety seriously both at work and outside. This is reminiscent of the recent drowning of the ZRA guy with his chikafu in Siavonga. Facilities that have swimming pools should provide life guards without which they should not operate. We do not need FDI to implement this. It s simple common sense. Otherwise we will continue with the needless loss of life.
What is happening to our councils please are there no healthy inspectors any more. I remember very well when i was in grade 2 we use to be taken for swimming lessons at ndola swimming pool and always there were attendants there to help us and provide the support. Shame on you Adventure city can this thing be sued.
WE HAVE A LAWYER FOR A VICE PRESIDENT, DPP WITH NO BALLS, POLICE WITH NO TEETH. JUST CLOSE THE PLACE LET SOMEONE EXPLAINE AND PAY THE FAMILIES WHO LOST THERE CHILDREN. LAST WEEK IF IM NOT MISTAKEN RUPIAH BANDA WAS SHOCKED THAT 50 SOMETHING PEOPLE PERISHED IN TWO DIFFERENT ACCIDENTS, WHEN BUS OPERATORS A LEFT TO RUN THERE BUSINESSES UNGOVERNED. THEY DONT WASTE TIME THREATENING RADIO PHOENIX AND THE POST THAT THEY WILL REVOKE THERE OPERATING LINCENSES. CLOSE THIS GOD FORSAKEN PLACE.
Hish i never thot such a thing could happen at adventure city.Too bad what is happening to my zambia sure mwebantu ? First we had lovers and their swimming lesson tragedy in siavonga ,now it is our imitikula empanga being lost..M.T.S.R.I.P.
The current crop of teachers have no sense of responsibility over the children. so if you leave your child with them on these so called tours or functions it should be at your own risk.
‘be careful’ thats all. What a joke. the issue has to investigated fully, you can not just ask clients to be ‘careful’ when a deth is involved.
MAY THERE SOULS REST IN PEACE
Iwe chi # 10. Shimulanga pebwe. Adventure city has been there for sometime alot of teachers have taken pupils there and very few accidents have happened. Now just because a few teachers have decided to be irresponsible and because of your shallow thinking capacity you want to paint all teachers evil. Generalisation is valued by poeple of low education like you. Look at the problem holistically dont apportion blame. If anything management at adventure city should be taken to task coz they are supposed to provide life guards. And that has been the trend everytime we went there. I dont know perhaps coz of stinginess they fired them. And just a few days ago their was the siavonga saga. Somebody would have thought that was a wake up call for safety in swimming pools by the powers that be. ala
This school must be sued for negligence, though no amount of compesation will sooth the families who have lost these little children. My heart goes to the families. I suppose the law provives for any public pool to have a life saver.
Whenever I visited Adventure City there were a lot of life savers around, infact at each one of the pools there was more than one, have standards gone down or have they made so much money that they dont care anymore? May the souls of the little ones rest in peace!
Very sad indeed, mtsrip, this is devastating 4 da parents.wheres this adventure city
This is very sad but atleast there should have been a teacher to monitor the Children, how do you leave kids that age to wonder about on an educational tour. Its a big case here , if they can’t take responsiblity on these tours , they should not go for them.
The story is very poorly written. LT cant you employ real journalists? Both this story and the one on Henry Kapoko are severely half baked. They met their fate at 14h00? How? Why? What happened? How did these youngsters die and what is this adventure city?
We need more details on this story? Every water park or swimming area should have a life guard….what precautions have been taken by adventure park in relation to this incident?Teachers are not all trained to be life savers or first aid workers.
LT lacks curiosity! is the problem with your typists or your journalists? mtsrip.
If they can’t afford lifegueards, they have no business staying open. They better close the joint ASAP.
May the souls rest in peace…….and may I urge everybody to be on the lookout for the devils manoeuvres, especially party lovers to be alert this festive season. These may not just be accidents. The agents of darkness are very busy. We all need Gods protection every time we start a new day, and thank him for making it through the previous day.Â
At Adventure City Life Guards are there, but where were they or what were they doing when the children were drowning?
why is it that pipo never take life so seriously
Where are lifeguards when these accidents are happening ?!!!
I am very emotional at the moment, I just had a flash back of how we have all enjoyed life until this present age vamene tinapitamo Ma adventure yambili; these children shall not see that. But they are in heaven as we speak with the lord Jesus especially the littlest one. Ba Jamaco help us true bloggers, how can we contact Miyanda so as banga ukeko and fight on for he is a true democrat that lacks the voice, his quiet plans need a spark under his butt.ocks andflame I. His bosom to help spread moral responsibility in our nation. We needto arrest every avenue in our beloved country to shake it to God’s blessings.
I concur with No. 21. If they cannot afford life guards they should close. The laws should be enforced! I hope someone is looking into this case very seriously, swimming pools without life savers are death traps. If there is no life guard – and people don’t know how to swim – there should be very big signs that “you are swimming at your own risk” Can the authorities look into this and not just – “oh sorry” and life goes on as usual!!
FINDINGS: According to akalimbusha;the pool in which these kids were was so crowded. The life guards only realised there were dead bodies after the others had gone out of the water. As we all know, kids usually make lots of noise when playing in water(screaming, jumping, splashing). The 3 poor little ones could not be heard screaming (for their dear lives) above the “usual” noise.
QUERRY : Â why shouldnt management put a limit /control number of kids in a pool at one given time?
