The Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO) has announced that its customers across the country should expect intense load shedding.
Corporation Public Relations Manager Lucy Zimba told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that this is because of one of its generators that was taken out at Kafue Power Station recently.
Ms. Zimba said the generator was taken from the station about two weeks ago for urgent maintenance works.
She said the maintenance works are a routine for the corporation to ensure that the power station is in shape.
Ms. Zimba said the situation is expected to normalize by mid next week after all the works have been done conclusively.
She said a total of 165 megawatts power outage has been affected as a result of the development.
Ms. Zimba has since appealed to its customers to bear with the national power utility company because it is doing everything possible to ensure that the situation is normalised.
Mid this year the ZESCO Kariba North Bank power station, was partly gutted forcing the power utility company to increase load shedding to most of its customers to cushion the loss.
ZANIS
I thought things were getting better with ZESKOLO – anyway, let me leave space to the affected in Zed to comment. I’m out for the next few hrs…
Thought Zambians were used ti that. Do they need warning really? As if they could help it! For those in diaspora. It`s small things like this which make a difference. hand up those have have had no electricity for more than 30 minutes the last 10 years! Tell me where you are and how long for the power was gone. I will give you a refund! lol
Thought Zambians were used to that. Do they need warning really? As if they could help it! For those in diaspora (in the western world). It`s small things like this which make a difference. hands up those that have had no electricity for more than 30 minutes the last 10 years! Tell me where you are and how long for the power was gone. I will give you a refund! lol
If you can survive pa zed,you can surviveanywhere in the world, a few weeks ago it was fuel crisis, now zesco shedding, dont we have project managers who can plan for these sort of maintenances so people dont experience these shortages
Sisala must be smiling where ever he is now because people use to think that Sisala was the problem
I fail to understand why we can never learn from our mistakes. Year in and year out we are faced with the same problems, Zesco load shedding, fuel shortages, cholera etc. Does it mean that in zed there are no people in the right positions capable of solving these problems once and for. Let our govt. give priority to these areas which will improve our economy. Zesco machinary is too old thats why they keep on repairing them, why not buy new generators , Zambia is rich but priorities are being misplaced.
Iwe Calculas mwali tapping lamya yandi? I have just been on the phone talking a friend and that`s exactly what he was saying! I agree, you can hire and fire, if the system is rubbish, even Obama can fail.
In Zed, are these CEO, M.D ,members of the board highly educated, because one wonders what vision or 10 year plan they have , to give Zambia efficient power supply and more people access to power. Becuase the mines and industry need Zesco. Just because Zambia is a third world country, does not mean Zesco needs to behave like a third world supplier. When ever I call my brother back in zed, there is always problems , NO lights, no petrol, “the maid passed away so they is no one to feed the Dogs’ and ‘so Now the dog is dead.’ This place is a JOKE.
People ,including my relatives need to be more serious.
ZESCO should have standby generators to use while maintainig the others.
Now it is like a person with one pare of pants, and when he washes has nothing to put on. This is shameful.
ZESCO has recently increased the electricity tarifs and that was meant to end these loadsheddings. Now What?
The country is a joke!!!! no vision!! Why can’t they learn one or two things from SA regarding planning, these guys here are busy building huge power stations for the future. They have learnt from their mistakes!!Apart from power stations, they are expanding their roads, ports, water infrastructure, all these developments are for the future. But pa Zed no one talks about the future its always crisis management.
We Can even a person with only a pair of pants will have a strategy. Wash them briefs when he goes to sleep. In the morning, amenso pamo! No kushaina sana. Tumisisi (tourists in this case) fulu fulu. Kanshi ninshi impondo yakwata kabamba kamo epela.
#9. We Can. Even a person with only a pair of pants will have a strategy. Wash them briefs when he goes to sleep. In the morning, amenso pamo! No kushaina sana. Tumisisi (tourists in this case) fulu fulu. Kanshi ninshi impondo yakwata kabamba kamo epela.
#10 FIFA money mudala. But then again we couldn`t host the Africa cup. lol!
Zambians are not result oriented hence the absence of progress in all areas of our lives. If we were result oriented, people would resigning for failing to deliver.
The load shedding has been on for about 2 weeks now that when announcements are being made. If you are going to run Zesco as a business do you need an engineer MD? What business methodologies do they teach in engineering. Let someone who’s preocupation is raking in money run the company and you will see how the engineers at Zesco will be made to sweat for their pay cheques. Then no employee will receive free electricity. Imagine the spokesperson at the ministry of health is a medical doctor. Some crap!
# 12, you mean one Busitele (Moral Booster)!!! hahahaha!!! ya good strategy but ba zambia tabakwata strategy
#11 and 12, Magicroundabout
Wansekesha sana!
ZESCO is worse than this.
Nga imwe mwebalepontela fye ukutali while enjoying ubukata bwa bene, don’t u think there’s more dignity in making efforts to make a difference at home?
#13, my friend, SA is a seriuos economy!!! Sometimes Zambians you should swallow your stupid pride and learn from your african counterparts!!!! With or without 2010 world cup SA had planned for infrastructure expansion. The only infrastructure related to 2010 are stadium mostly which they funded using their own money. Roads, hospitals, schools, Ports, Refineries, Pipelines, Power Stations, all these have nothing to do with the world cup.
I THINK BA ZIMBA MWATILEMESA! EVERY PASSING DAY POWER OUTAGES AND YOU MANUFACTURE ALL THE LIES TO DEFEND YOURSELVES NOT WITHSTANDING THE LIVES THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN LOST DUE TO YOUR INCOMPITENCE IN DISCHARGING YOUR DUTIES DELIGENTLY. I THINK IT’S HIGH TIME THAT YOU CHAPS NEED TO BE RETRANCHED TO PAVE WAY FOR CAPABLE CITIZENS SO THAT ZAMBIANS CAN HAVE PROPER SERVICE THAN THE CURRENT SITUATION WHERE LOADSHEIDING HAS BECAME LIKE AN ANNUAL TRADITIONAL CEREMONY.
# 18, What difference can one make at home when you have decision makers like RB, VJ, Shakapwasha, Mulongoti etc!!! My point is lets learn from other people especially those near us not always looking for donations for our budget!!! for how long Zambians are we going to beg!!!
#3 I have put my hand up. I have had no power for hours on end right here in Gaunteng. Amd my friends in Cape Town have had the same. Rural towns here even worse. This power shortage is not new and people are behaving as if they don’t know what is happening. Unless you live under a stone, it is public knowledge that the economic growth in sub Saharan Africa is growing at an unprecedented pace and new Power stations are being built all over the region including Zambia. Even Coborabasa in Mozambique is also being expanded. You think you can build a largest mine like Lumwana and not take a knock.? You must be kidding. DO you know how many smelters are running and how much copper is being pumped out of the mines? And you expect no load shedding. You are kidding
#22, Bootlicker, which Gauteng do you leave in??? there is no loadshedding in SA currently, it was experienced in December 2007, January and February 2008. This was lack of planning but they had learnt from their mistakes. Tell me which new power stations are being built in Zambia apart from from rehabilitation of some power stations!!!!
#19, Tonga Breeder
I totally agree with you. There is very little inestment for the future at Zed. The only thing our politicians think is how they can make it at the next election.
We need investment in this country. Our roads and cities are becoming smaller for us.
These power outages are a true evidence that the economy is expanding at a fast pace and yes the MMD have put in place measures to make sure we do not stifle this growth
In fact, under the ongoing rehabilitation of equipment, ZESCO has budgeted $1 billion for expansion of the Kafue power station and $120 million for the Ithezi Thezi power station.
Refurbishment of Kafue power station would boost power from 700MW to 800 MW. At Ithezi thezi, power output would be expanded to 100MW from the current 80MW. Also about $2 billion has been earmarked for expansion and rehabilitation at various power stations, with several international financing groups expressing interest to join hands in the undertaking.
These are not toy projects like building SATA’s toy wooden…
Bootlicker SA is not in the western world! Have a look again at my post. Tongabread calm down son. Look at my post aagain and you will see the irony in it! Grrrrrrrr! Nothing against you! But why don`t Zambians have a sense of humour? Fyonse ni serious! I was being sarcastic for God`s sake! Please google the word sarcastic and read it in english before you shoot me down again.
number 15 ubukopo, who tod u that Engineers cannot b good managers?.if u have no brains 4 the tough engineering stuff, hang yo bowls n stop exposing yo little brain.
My Brothers and sisters in the diaspora. Please don’t make it look like life is far better where you are than pa Zed. It may be for now but most of you guys are just living hand to mouth! What you should know is that this power shoratge is really as a result of fast pace of growth Zanbia is going through at the moment. If you are in country in Southern African that has no power shortage then that country is far behind Zambia in growth rate. Leave us at home to deal with the problems as we invest more and more in mother Zambia. We see where you will be when you come back from wherever you are with that hand to mouth living. Some of you even have to do more than one job to make a living!! Shame on you!!! I rest my case!
#25 Bootlicker try saying that to Zambians in Zambia please! Bakakusuma pamukoshi. They have obviously heard that before. Looking at your post, all you are talking about are plans plans. Plans this, plans that. I know you are from the Eastern province, but, have you ever heard of a saying “Nkaya mailo”?
ctd from 25..These are not toy projects like building SATA’s toy wooden BOAT. These are massive projects and take time to come online. No wonder some of you bought the 90 day economic miracle from SATA. You think you can put these projects together in 90 days and you believe that??? Surely you need your head to be examined if you buy the PF lies and I pray power does not fall into the hands of these liars. RB is the best president this country could have ever had. The POST Newspaper you are blindly following is bitter about the loss of their $3 million dollar loss in Zambian Airways are are recruiting some of you in their negative crusade against MMD & RB. We understand $3 million is a lot of money, but you lost it because of your poor judgment and don’t take it on RB please
RB is always on the move coz he is not proud of his country!!! Zambian govt has been sending its top brass to SA, but have they ever thought of improving the Zambian healthcare??? Is healthcare rocket science??? Is maintenance of roads rocket science??? planning for future energy needs is it rocket science???? Food security is it rocket science??? Fuel management is it rocket science???
Bootlicker, please answer me
#29 My brother try to build anything without a plan and lets see how far you will go..I rest my case
# 22 A.s.s Licker. Dont cheat people. The load shedding in SA is always planned. What we have in Zambia is not actually load shedding. We may have no power for 8 hours. Your friends knew that we will have high demand for power with projects like Lumwana. What plans did they put in place to avoid outages? Those smelters you are talking about have been there before. My only uncle was with Zesco and in charge of projects like power for Lumwana,he left because of people like you who want to mix politics and management of development of our country.Zambia has more resources to generate power without hiccups. Just tell your people to invest peoperly.
MMD is improving the health care system. As I speak there are few leaders coming her for treatment. Katele Kalumba is the Third in Command in MMD and when he felt ill he was not evacuated to Morning Side Clinic , he is right there in UTH. Things are improving. Give RB a chance and judge his leadership based on the numbers at the end of his term when he launches his re-election in 2011 after crushing all the sponsored enemies of the MMD at the National Convention next year
#28 Boolae. Did you know that there are countries in this world where locals protest against expansion (growth) programmes like building housing units in their areas? Growth/expansion has it`s own problems. Yes power is just one of them. Health facilities, schools, conjestion on roads, social amenities, you name them, they have to keep up as well. In Zambia all you guys worry about is building akamusakuta. The rest fikaisova. Reason there are so many untarred roads in Zambia and well still one UTH! Need I say more?
I think Zesco is becoming a failed company, going the way of Zamtel and Indeni. But then that is the story of Zambia today.Nothing seems to work,no vision,no planning just fire fighting.
#28 Boolae, you are really useless, which blogger here is saying is better off from where they are??? We are talking about Zambian govt planning for the future fool!!! Anyway keep on comforting yourself that people in diaspora live hand to mouth!!!
#32 Bootlicker. Can I ask you when these plans will be implemented? That`s what I was trying to say. Do not just talk the talk! But hey, Zambians would buy your cheap talk any way!
# 28 Boolae, I’m sure you have built a house in Chalala where there are no proper roads, no sewer (Pit latrines and Septic tanks), no pipe water (using boreholes) etc and you think its good leaving!!!
#34. Bootlicker I hate bashing people directly but if you are going to throw feeble punches like that without guard, you will get knocked down. How is MMD improving UTH? Please tell the world! What miracles have they done in the last few weeks? Employed 2 more doctors? Patients having four meals a day? A well stocked Pharmacy with third generation antibiotics?
#26 Come on my brother, you might have left your relatives in Zambia in the bush without communication, but things have improved my friend. We have the Internet as well and don’t tell us plain lies that in 10 years there has been no power outage in the West. Just Google New York power outage for your elf and come back with another lie.
#41. Bootlicker there you go! More like a monkey-branch to branch! Do me a favour and google Newyork power outage-you will get reasons why it happened and how long it lasted for.
#37-Tonga Breeder – When did you come to South Africa?? Bootlicker is very correct, SA is experiencing huge power problems and load shedding was there this year and it will resume again next year. Which power stations are they building because the construction of Nuclear power plants is now on hold because of no money. Eskom is also experiencing huge problems my friend, many electrification projects have been cancelled as well. Why do you think the Eskom CEO was fired/forced to resign by the board?? Its because they also did not plan for the future, so its not only ba Zesco nakuno vinavuta mudala. Infact they plan to increase tariffs here by 45% for the next three years!!! They alreay hiked by 37% this year and it is killing us! Watch out they are coming for you better start saving boss…
#41. Bootlicker by the way. I would be embarrased saying that if I were you. In the bush? Yes because MMD has not improved things. Why should there be people living in the bush in the 21st centuary
OK last posts for today am sure my fellow MMD patriots will deal with the rest of you. #40 all I would say is go to UTH and see for yourself. The UTH mess can not be solved in 90 days. You have o start from Somehwhere and work has started. #39 Chalala is part of the Free Economic Zone in Lusaka you have been hearing about and the ring roads master plans the Japanese proposed and check the budget for next year and you will see that provision has been made. That is the work in progress and come in five years and we shall talk again on this issue. Good day all.
#28,Booolae
I really have a problem with your way of analysis.
On your “What you should know is that this power shoratge is really as a result of fast pace of growth Zanbia is going through at the moment. “ If there is fast growth ( as you want us to believe) in some sectors that use electricity, then ZESCO is making more money. So why not buy standby generators — why make us suffer? By reading the story above you can cleary tell that the load shadding is not even related to economic growthn but it’s routine maintanance.
#46 We Can. This is what this Bootlicker failed to see as well. Some people are just too thick. But, then again youcan`t blame them can you! Why sould people suffer for planned work? If the country is developing that quickly to a level where ZESCO has no clue what they should do next, I should be getting worried and not excited.
#45 Bootlicker. You leave a lot of unanswered questions! You`ve been found out my brother. Enjoy the rest of the day. Got to pay my power bills now. Ahah!
#5 walasa. they said sisala….tribalists. Â Number 9, give ideas for things that you know better———–generators for standby purposes for the whole country, Man , make jokes in venacular.
Very sick indeed. In the face of unjustified tariff increase, Zesco has the audacity to repeatedly lie to the general citizenly with impunity. I hate Zesco for this load sheds it has continuously embarked on year in year out. Tell us if Zesco is slowly sliding in Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia and indeni in term of industrial machinery obsoluteness. This be the case, a Zambian mind will opt to privatise. All you Zambian managers have proven to be useless in his 21 century. You cannot plan, coordinate, strategize, innovate, control and oversee . There is a leadership crisis in Zambia. All you Zambian Engineers, what were you trained for Hmm????? Leadership crisis coupled with Energy crisis will drive this country deep deep in trouble. Zesco sucks!!!!!!!!!!!
Gdp has grown by 6.1 % in Zed…..however I am now querying where is the money going? This useless MMD party for 20 years is failing to maintain Zesco, infrastructure in Zambia is awful …failing to increase doctor teachers and nurses wages….abolished widfall tax for so called jobs that do not contribute much to Zed revenue ..Lusaka is filthy. MMD has to go they are a useless, greedy, Chiluba idolising party.
#49, susuman,
What do mean when you say “generators for standby for the whole country” ?
Do we have power stations the whole country — which Zambia do you? According to you, when one generator is down then it cannot be replaced. It can only be repaired and the whole country ( hospitals, homes, institutions of learning, etc ) will have to wait for the repair before they can use electricity !
This shows we are operating at full capacity. there’s no spare capacity. The solution is to invest in more power generation. I suppose the recent tariff hikes will help raise some cash for that, though hard on consumers. But more money needs to be found. Unless we have sufficient power capacity, power cuts like this will continue.
Magic I couldn`t agree more with you. Have perused your postings today and got to say, top drawer man. You`ve made the fool!! from “South Africa” look even more stupi d. Well done brother. You have my support. Nice one.
All guys critising my views have lost it completely. I am a well travelled person and know what I am talking about. Most you guys are plate breakers in other people’s countries. Even if you are leaving very well ( very doubtful from what I have seen around ) you should not be proud of economically contributing to the growth of another country if you are a patriotic citizen of Zambia. I may have build a mansion in Chalala but it is still on Zambian soil!!! What is the use of you complaining about issues happening in Zambia when you are busy developing other countries? Let patriotic Zambians speak not you chaps who live in a fool’s paradise!!!
#12 Magic. Ati bamba imo epela.Won`t get over this one Magic mudala
#55 Are you sure? Leaving? Travelling and living are two different things by the way. LEAVING! NIIIIIIIIIIIIICE!!!!!!!!
52 Should read, which Zambia do you know?
Just for your info since there is talk of RSA, Today I read that RSA has just gotten a loan for USD1.3 billion from the ADB as part of the cost for building new power generating plants.
#49, susuman
Do you know anything called backup? The same way you see vehicles carrying spare wheels or countries having reserves that is the same ZESCO is supposed to operate.
But for the rest of your comments in #49, I will not respond becuse they are utter vomits not worthy looking at the second time!
The fact is even ESCOM is undergoing severe elecricity generating problems and they are are cash strpped.they dont have money to invest in new power generating plants.equally most of the countries in southern cental and east africa are undergoing same load shedding problems in one way or another.uganda is peharps one the the countries who have just unveiled a mega plant that will see them even export.Tanzania is just recovering from a 12 hrs a day load shading cruch.the problem is that what the great supper ken left is what we are relying on even today albeit the population and industrial activities multiplying.ka FTJ and his then hardcore leuternant sata just came for picnic.the current leadership do not even know how and where to start.if i were rupiah i’d go china.no size.
Zesco simply sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
fade up with crap talking alot people need to manhandled please you have failed to hell zesco still living in the past simple machines can not sorted out.please step down.day in day out same story load shading
I agree with Booolae – some people make the diaspora sound like it is paradise. i dont want to go to south africa where I will be killed because those ignorant people hate their fellow africans and where my daughter has a very high chance of being raped. Zambia is not perfect but we are making progress at a realistic pace. You can not change things in 90 days even if your name is Micheal Chilufya Sata. I think we should take a balanced view and not just bash our country for the sake of bashing it. Why do Zambianshate themselves and their country so much?
kwaliba ****** pa LT,he is the one who alwys brags about being in the diaspora.talking big every time like he is in paradise and belittling every zambian blogger who goes agaainst his oppinion.one wonders what this guy does and how he earn his living because he is blogging all the time.even if he is an executive in any organisation there is time to get busy.you ***** ought to stop this habit.we know how tough life is where ever you have sought economic refuge.real men are we guys who are making it happen at home.in europe you ass hole or America you can make a house of blocks.you use particle boards and ceilings that’s why when there is a bush fire you get worried.moreover you even get them on morgage because you can afford cash.worse still with you you are an immigrant you can get…
Ladies and gentlemen, let us show restraint when posting on this site. True, people can have differences but that does not warrant the foul language. Instead, we should learn from each other on how best Zambia can develop. Being in the diaspra or Zambia does not make one more Zambian than the other.
come home and visit chalala, shimabala even kafue and see if you can compare with the awkward way you live.there are about 5 major airlines lines landing into lusaka everyday and who do you think are on these flights, you destitutes from the so called diaspora?it’s we locals asshole.why should i crave to stay in the so called diaspora when i can enter Hong kong visa free and soak my self in the irish pubs of kowloon and jive in the posh night clubs of causeway bay.if i want burbbery i just cross over into guangzhou.same material you are ripped off in a whitemans shop i get for a song from a chinaman after all everything comes from there.so bonse mwebaba mu diaspora and are so proud that you want to make us look like we stay in sobibor mwanya nokunya especially you boy who spend all you…
#67 Akapondo, i sense that you are a very unhappy person!!! I haven’t read any blogger saying that they leave in paradise. All they are saying is Zambia should learn from other countries, after all China and India learnt from the west and now they are busy implementing.
Instead of debating the current topic you are quick to get personal, my brother you are very shallow
TONGA BREEDER,
Blow off your trumpet and come down to earth where you belong to.dont paint so rosy pictures a country which most peole albeit being in zambia know more than you may claim to.south africa is in a deep power crisis read yesterdays mail&guardian or the star.you will read that jacob zuma is going to the world bank to ask for a multi billion rand loan to enable escom construct new power plants or else after 10 years if this investment wont come forth south africa will be in a total blackout.so you are the only one who knows at which site escom is constructing those power stations. Embarrasing enough even power outages have become rampant only two days ago is it at soccer city in the midst of a game between kaiser chiefs and supersport amalaiti yaliya and fifa is concerned coz…
#2. I have lived in the UK for a minimum of 15years. The closest I got to power outage was two years ago when I used to live in Beckenham. A power station which supplies Beckenham and many other areas blew and was up in flames. It was a Sunday and I was coming from church. But, b4 I could even reach home in few minutes time electricity was restored. In short I did not even experience the outage. I know some blogger would say: Ha!! But that is UK. It isn’t a question of it bieng UK but planning. Botswana is a desert but thier piped water runs 7/24, every day every year. They don’t have water falls for hydro electric power. But, you will nevr hear power cuts.
contd, this is the second time this is happening.even in another town the same thing happened a fortnight ago.so south africa is also crippled with this power outages problem.we are living in an era where imformation is on the palm all the time so where ever you are dont cheat people and think you will get away with it.and do you know that at escom there is one guy who is zambian and had worked for zesco at one time.he is the guy who laid the under water cable connecting chilubi island to the national grid, yes he is some big guy there.but because he does not blow his trumpet loud you cant know him.so south africa nabo bali mu bwafya nabo ubukulu.
# 69, Its common knowledge that Eskom is experiencing problems in financing there current projects, but they are proactive in finding solutions. Medupi will be operational in 2012 and Kusile thereafter. Which soccer city are you talking about?? that stadium is not yet complete how can it host a match?? don’t be critical for nothing. I think you are just trying to be personal with Tonga Breeder, i support his postings!
…Whereas, Zambia has the lion’s share of fresh water in the Southern African region but maybe more than 80% of the population don’t have access to clean, treated tap water. Zambia has at least a water falls in each province but we can’t tap hydro power from these natural resources. Sun light is throughout the year but we can’t tap solar power from it. We have call but people keep chopping trees(depleting the forests) for charcoal and firewood. Zambia has got the most fertile land in the region for agriculture to even feed the world. But, we are the biggest food beggers and our leaders are even proud of that. SO ZESCO DON’T LIES TO PEOPLE. AS 1 BLOGGER SAID-ZAMBIANS ARE USED TO LOADSHADING.
Akaponda, we shall come back to help develop Zed when time is right!!! By the way we have also built houses in Zed but not in Chalala
…SOLUTION: BUY NEW GENERATORS FROM CHINA (CHEAPEST SOURCE) USING THE MONEY THAT RUPIAH BANDA IS GOING TO USE TO GALLIVANT THE WORLD IN THE NEXT 6 TO 12 MONTHS. YOU CAN DO THAT BY FREEZING HIS USELESS TRIPS FOR THE NEXT 12 MONTHS. THATS PART OF CONTINGENCY PLANNING. THEN CREATE AND FORMALIZE A COMMITTEE THAT IDENTIFIES/LISTS ALL POSSIBLE RISKS AND THEIR IMPACT AND THEIR LIKELYHOOD TO OCCUR. FROM THIS EFFECTIVELY PLAN YOUR OPERATIONS AS AN ENTIRE CORPORATE.
DIASPORA,
Mwaba guilty.and who is not a happy person ?i was just advising that you stop being aloof for nothing.ubu sushi mwalekako.infact i didn’t even have you in mind.so now i’ll pay attention ku machinchi yobe.all am saying is there are people that are better off back home than you miserable scumbags who are always parroting being in the diaspora.you should stop that foolishness.am not saying everbody, no.there are buddies out there who are sober and dont refer to us back home like we live in a hopeless society.we may have inept leadership but we are not inept.so boyi ndi kapondo kansansa
#14. THATS WHY WE NEED PEOPLE LIKE SATA WHO ARE RESULTS ORIENTED BEING IN LEADERSHIP. I DON’T THINK MICHAEL CHILUFYA SATA WOULD TOLERATE THIS LOADSHADING NONSENSE. 2011 WHERE ARE YOU?
Diaspora,
That’s why i said is it soccer city because i was in doubt where the incident happened but it’s only two days ago and kaiser chiefs were wired.anyway in this era of the internet twalakweba nombaline.pembela. On those power stations you talking about those are projections and they have been halted because of lack of funds so until that loan zuma is asking for from the world bank materialises.
DIASPORA,
Oh yeah, you will find us castling and mosling as long as you dont come with a full blown ego coz you will be bruised.you might not have built in chalala but i hope you haven’t demeaned the name since it sounds local in the breadth of chazanga, mutendere or kalingalinga. You are used to sunningdale, kabulonga, emmasdale but anyway every one knows that there are no plots in these areas and there are no hungry councillors who grab land so maybe you were the only luck one.anyway wherever you have built good luck to you.
#19. DON’T WORRY ABOUT #13. I can’t believe the way Zambians find excuses for refusing to develop. #13 is an absolute dunderhead. Instead of advocating learning from SA, he is talking about FIFA money. Mind you #13, Zambia was given a chance to host a similar tournament which was turned down. #13, don’t you think there was also similar money from various organisations to fund the development? AMANO BUCHE NGA RUPIA BANDA. Just a reminder #13. There’s no world cup in Botswana but they, too, have infrastructure plans which they implement just like SA. So what excuse do you have, again?
PETER,
you have been talking sense but you just end up by parading one big flop as a messiah who will bring results to this country.what action are you talking about.because the very day this guy will enter office he willl be met with an empty bowl.and he has got no economic clue whatsoever that’s why in he his rantings you will never hear him mention the word inflation, economic growth and GDP he will always talk about corruption.1991 the post’s first edition carried the headline “COPPERGATE SCANDLE” how francis kaunda and them used to dribble copper shipments.the main source of imformation was sata.all that KK was doing sata knew, now he was chiluba’s right handman how did he fail to know that the guy was plundering this country
#22, LUMWANA MINE INVESTORS never came in incognito. In fact it took years for them to start consuming appreciable amounts of power from ZESCO. What am saying here #22, is that ZESCO should have planned upon having know of the scope of this mining activity. Lumwana invetors weren’t hiding their intentions. ZESCO being an engineering co. they would ve known the approximate consumption capacity. They would have also identified with related SMS companies as a direct consequent of Lumwana project. It scares me to have Zambians always just refusing to do the right thing, and have s.t.u.p.i.d excuses for not having to do the right thing.
#15. Theres no University Programme which does not teach resource management in this 21st century. Engineers, Scientists, Medical Doctors, Astronaults are all taught management skills in their respective programmes. In short anyone from any academic/professional background can be a manager-bad or good.
contnd. Sata will just inherit the same load shedding problems reason been.him and chiluba when they came to power they never bothered to invest in the infrstructure kaunda left hence demand was growing whilst supply was shrinking so you expect this man to come out as a messiah again.if sata was to become president today.he’ll face big problems because of his false promises.giving people false hope just like jacob zuma.but unlike zuma sata will surround himself with hardcore cadres in markets, street vendors and bus stops such that any descent will be met with vulgar language and all you people who are gentle the old tag will echo again ba “SOME OF US” and you will be looked upon with scorn like you are the sources of poverty.

The fact is the economy is growing at a fast pace. The Finance Minister delivered economic growth of up to 6.1% when many forecasted economic growth of 5% or less. The Central Bank Governor delivered reserves of USD$1.7 billion which are one of the highest in Zambia’s history. The Minister of Commerce Trade and Industry delivered investment pledges amounting to about USD $600 million+ and the MMD govt delivered poverty reduction from 80% to about 60%. Surely with this economic growth and increase in economic activities, electricity will be on high demand. The construction industry is growing at a very fast pace and we both know an increase in construction activities means increase in electricity demand.

All those plans by ZESCO concerning Kafue, Itehzi tehzi etc…where not a joke but planning for the expected increase in electricity demand. ZESCO is doing everything it can to deal with this electricity problem. Lets give them a chance and work with them. Besides, even ESKOM was facing load shedding problems some time back.

The problems with Zesco are long overdue! As far as I remember loading shedding has been there for over ten years now, surely if we had people with good idea at Zesco or in Government this problem could have sorted out in the last ten years. One really wonders what they are doing at Zesco if they can continue failing the people in this regard. I really wonder how people work with so much power interruptions everyday. Can someone address the situation at Zesco once and for all!
Bakamba ma experts ba pa zed, who am I to add something?
I am on my way to Zambia for the holidays next week. But I can’t stand the load shedding. Zambia need alot of Help. Thinking of going home should be a thing to look forward- to, but in this case it is creating fear. How long should one live in darkness?
This load shedding is worringly becoming ‘ too normal ‘ .
I see it’s been argued by some that rapid growth of the economy is placing demands on the grid that outstrips it’s capacity. Surely if there is a vibrant growing economy then, acheiving that in itself, should facilitate for adequate power generatiion ? What i mean is , i don’t see these to be mutually exxclusive. .. ie one cannot happen without the other.
And comparing other countries power generation problems is no excuse or cause for comfort ! As # 91 Jackal has pointed out , it’s been going on for just too long..!
Magicroundabout .., today you are SMOKING….LOL..!

This bashing between Zambians in the diaspora and those at home is quite a shameful thing to say the least. For a while, it had died out but it came back to life again on this thread. We need to realize that whether home or abroad, life is not a bed of roses and we’re all striving to live a better life so there’s no difference – only the standards are different, so both sides could do better avoiding comparisons because this usually leads straight to personal attacks.
#84 Akapondo In your case, I would advise that you just enjoy your time here and try not to get so worked up with some of the comments on LT . It is the perspective from people like yourself on the ground that enrich those of us who are not there – so when you feel yourself getting angry, take a break and do the…
MAGICSPEG,
small little dick,i might have hurt you badly.for you to go in such a rage of feat.you will die of hate i diot.you want to die young and leave that ugly thing you call your wife at the mess of your thirsty sex lustful friends to be excercising new styles on.what realy bit your ass from my postings.anyway i dont respond to boys who get excited when they look at their testicles and get exclted when they see that they have grown in size a bit.you are a disgrace unto yourself.i now see the reason why your mother absconded giving birth after siring you.you are even lucky she should have smoulthered you in you infacy. Nexttime i’ll scotch your ass with a cigarrete but.i wont exchange insults with you half brain.
…”mosling” or “castling”.
Judging from most “diasporic” comments, I think the problem is that our knowledge is mostly enyclopedic and too western-influenced than Zambian so we try to round that out our past Zambian life experience, which unfortunately is outdated. Perhaps that is why most diasporic bloggers like Veteran, Capitalist, etc. sound so theoretical and perhaps controversial – that is because they’re “independent thinkers”. Just some analysis…
Immediately you started spewing your filth.i tried to respond but immediately my threads were bouncing due to server error 500.and it’s always the case with LT.everytime a semi human being like you provokes me each time i try to respond immediately i start experiencing these problems. Your mother should count yourself lucky is friday today am goint to the mosque or else i’d have given her a hell of ulcers
NINE CHALE,
Thanx my bro’ and note taken. I have followed your threads for long and i presume you must be based in south africa but you dont make a farce out of it. even when you are commenting on our crisis back home you do so without scorn wanting to portray those of us who are back home like we are in a place worse than gomora.immature boys like this magic are the culprits. just read anything written by this magic guy it’s always about him being in the diaspora and always negative on we back home.we will stay here chika la chobe.even a destitute has a place for burial.
# 96 Nine Chale , Good post , good positive thoughts…. You definitely gave the ‘affected ‘ (# 1) enough space ! ..They have spoken!
I just have a little doubt about your perception of independent thinking !
Nearly three quarters of the new people Banda appointed were from Eastern Province. Well, let’s see if he can win the 2011 polls only with the support of his “ba kumawa”. He is a stinking tribalist and I hope all the other tribes will make him pay for this bigotry of his. I hope the North-Westerners too now realise because the only one of two cabinet portfolios they were holding is lost to one of Kanitundila’s own kumawas.

DIASPORA,
Loftus vesfeld is the stadium which had power outage on wednesday during the kaiser chiefs/supersport utd match.and contrally to your assertion construction of soccer city stadium or FNB if you like finished on 21st october 2009 and was officially handed over to SA 2010 organising commitee by GRINACKER LTA who were the main contractors
#104 Akapondo, My brother you are really a Disgruntled chap, the outage at Loftus Stadium was as a result of technical problem at the substation not loadshedding!!!! Be reall! and Soccer City Stadium has not been handed over!!!! Last week Grinaker was showcasing the project to FIFA to Commemorate 200 days before kick off!!! Whats wrong with you???
# Akapondo 104 You really got issues. The problem at loftus is not load shedding but technical which is normal and was fixed. Bawishi if you are calling Chalala as real development then we are in trouble. Dont fool us we are always in Zambia and we see these things. Our city looks like we had civil war sometime back. Even Zimbabwe with current political problems has better infrustracture than us. Eskom has its problems but you can see they are working on resolving them and planning for the future. Its not all roses in Diaspora but the truth is Zambia is not doing well. With our limited resources we can do better. So lets be real and start addressing key areas. Even Angola, coming from a serious civil war is developing better than us.
THE PROBLEM I HAVE WITH US ZAMBIANS IS THE ACCEPTANCE OF MEDIOCRITY. PEOPLE ARE TALKING OF DEVELOPMENT WHEN WE KNEW VERY WELL THAT WE NEEDED TO EXPAND OUR ELECTRICITY NETWORK MORE THAN 15 YEARS AGO. HAD WE DONE SOME SERIOUS PLANNING THEN THESESPROBLEMS WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THERE. BUT OH NO THE EVER MEDIOCRE mmD GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN SLEEPING ALL THIS TIME. i BET YOU IT WILL GET EVEN WORSE AS OTHER PLANTS START UP LIKE CHAMBISHI METALS ANDLCM. WHY SHOULD WE ALWAYS COMPARE OUR SELVES WITH OTHER COUNTRIES. JUST DO YOUR WORK FULL STOP. SO WHAT IF SA HAVE POWER PROBLEMS.LET THEM SORT OUT THEIR PROBLEMS AND LET rbb SORT OUT OURS FULL STOP. THATS WHAT WE EXPECT A LEADER TO DO. NOT GIVING EXCUSE EVERY DAY.
Rubbish ZESCO can export electricity to other coountries but fail to give to local people.
Akapondo’s comments on zambians in diaspora are very offensive. Why do you insult us all?? keep your beef with magic between the two of you please. You dont know how we live so dont judge us with your illusions. We can choose to stay wherever we want on this earth and so can you, just as you have chosen to stay pa zed. You seem like a knowleadgeable fellow but your insulting comments have made you lose a measure of respect. Take it easy man, we all zedians.
LOL at Akapondo , Somebody give him some cafenol preferbly the childrens one. Some people are really bitter
Akapondo, yeah you are really bitter that some people leave outside Zambia??!!!! It doesn’t mean that they are better than you, we are just making a leaving as well. Infact we are economic refuges but we are getting the exposure which one day we shall pump into some Zambian politicians like RB
Akaponda, ha lol, people are laughing at you. but take it like a man. its okay to be in Zed, nothing wrong, if things were right , I would be in Zed tomorrow. I don’t want to Mr rich, I want to be a simple Joe that afford to educate my kids and able to provided for my family, which is something most Zed people can not do.
Akapondo, i think you tried to venture into the diaspora elo fyasa chupa!!! Ukafwa nechikonko mune
NINE CHALE! Brother I like the wisdom God has put in you. Continue dwelling in his presence. Good day.
MMD is sleeping at the switch. It focuses on selling and luring foreign investment …but does not build up Zambian entities like Zesco or infrastructure. Magande , HH and Inonge Wina would be good leaders . Zambia needs people like them who love the Zambian people…who will work hard behind the scenes to improve the country and not their pockets.
All you chimps who had ganged up against me.i`ll be back in a while.CHI DIASPORA,CHI TONGA BREEDER bunyo bwago,ka SLUMDOG it`s like you dont lessons about me.CHI GHOST RIDER all you tea boys in the diaspora i`ll be licking your asses not so long.

TONGA BREEDER, iam a bitter man so you say,and you are a happy man ?ok fine i agree.but for today iam happy my friend.iam in zanzibar.i`ve just joined my friends in celebrating idd el hajj which falls tommorrow.so you see even bitter guys at least can have leisure.i know you can believe it because you know that we can not afford unless you.so be brave and post me your mobile and i`ll call you from the hotel landline to convince you thomas.umfwa kapuli tuli bana bansansa.and i think i know you.you are the guy who pesters zambian traders on kirk street asking for change.better come home
