Zambezi District Commissioner Bisalom Luwaile has appealed to the Ministry of Energy to find a lasting solution to the power outages being experienced in the district.
Mr. Luwaile says the district has been experiencing power black outs for more than a week owing to the lack of diesel in the ZESCO generators.
He said the company which was contracted to supply diesel to ZESCO has been failing to meet the commodity demands on time.
The district commissioner said the issue of having broken down generators should be a thing of the past because the country has enough generators being manufactured on the Copperbelt.
“We are not sure why we are still talking about generators because the country is now stocked with generators”, he said.
He explained that district’s productivity has been affected by the constant black out by ZESCO and that nothing has been done to improve the situation.

There is no excuse Zesco managers get paid and have enough education to know this procedure. This is careless and makes Zambia lose alot of revenue. I reiterate if these Zambian managers can not run Indeni or Zesco… get an expatriate with a record and qualification who will do things proffessionally. This is utter nonsense and won’t resolve Zambian incompetent managerial issues if not confronted.
I suppose one has to also look at the resources provided for individual managers to run ZESCO efficiently. Question is IF the goverment knowing that ZESCO has alot of potential to export electricity …and is important to the vital success of any Zambian industry. WHY has it been neglected in the past 20 years rule of MMD??? MMD DO NOT EVEN THINK OF SELLING ZESCO AS THE ANSWER!!!!!!
