The Zambia Centre for Inter-Party Dialogue (ZCID) has advised politicians in the country to stop using unpalatable language against Republican President Rupiah Banda.
ZCID spokesperson Langtone Sichone says it is unfortunate that some politicians in the country were using bad language against the Head of State.
Mr. Sichone told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that this disrespectful and must be discouraged by all well meaning citizens.
He said there was need for politicians to understand that Mr. Banda is the Head of State who deserves to be spoken to in respectable manner.
The ZCID spokesperson wondered how politicians using unpalatable language against President Banda would feel if people used the same language against them when they were in President Banda’s position.
Mr. Sichone said the use of bad language to express displeasure is not the solution to the many challenges the country was facing.
He added that politicians should instead offer lasting solutions to some of the problems being experienced in the country.
He said ZCID has for long time now been advising politicians against the use of unpalatable language against the Head of State.
Mr. Sichone said it was unfortunate that despite ZCID’s advice to politicians against the use of bad language against the Head of State, some politicians have continued with the trend.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sichone has also expressed disappointment at tribal politics being practised by some politicians in the country.
Mr. Sichone expressed worry that if continued, tribal politics have the potential to divide the people and the nation.

If he does not want to be insulted, he should stop insulting his political opponents too. You still recall him in Northern province claiming: “ONANA ONANI, VIMASILU” or not long ago him claiming: “Ama politics akunya”. Not long ago, he was also heard claiming: Every time I think of Sata, I think of Satan. It is very unbecoming of a head of state to be saying such unpalatables and now that people are giving him a taste of his own medicine, he should just enjoy it silently not “kungo lila lila chi president chi mchembele conse sure monga ka mwana”.
Lanstone Sichone has been trying to get a GRZ appointment since 1991 but has failed. I would like Mr. Sichone also to advise Mr Rupiah Banda to stop insulting other people at his rallies and press conferences. This man has a nack for insulting any one even without being provoked. If you insult Sata, expect an outlandish insult in return. So the best way for this man to avoid being insulted is to first respect other others.
Who does Sichone think hes fooling here? His political career is in a mess, he is broke and from the last count, he had two jackets remaining. If the Head of State wants respect, then he has to earn it!! People will respect you if you respect yourself first, then others. As for now, its open season for RB!
It is not good to use abusive language especially on the public domain like this one. I like RB and his government because of the discipline within the party. Come 2011, RB will scoop elections with land slide victory!
This useless jobseeker is talking sense. But as some people have already said, it takes two to tango. If the president respects others they in turn will respect him. Otherwise it will be fighting fire with fire. After all nobody has a monopoly of insults.
