Local Government and Housing minister Eustarckio Kazonga says Senior Chief Bright Nalubamba’s unwavering support for the opposition PF-UPND pact, as in a named tabloid, yesterday, is not only divisive but also untimely.
Dr Kazonga says in a statement to ZANIS, yesterday, that Chief Nalubamba is a traditional leader whose role is to unite his subjects and lead them towards a common goal.
He noted that it was now common knowledge that traditional leader’s subjects have different political opinions and affiliations.
The minister said that chief Nalubamba has alienated himself from the subjects that do not share his political inclinations.
” The chief is openly saying that he is only a chief for those subjects who support the PF-UPND pact. This is a dilemma because other subjects have been left without a chief, considering that the Ila people of Namwala district can only have one chief at a time,” he said.
The minister said the declaration is also untimely in the sense that elections are still a long way adding that it will be counter-productive for the chief to preside over a divided chiefdom all the way to 2011.
” Government would like to appeal to chiefs to desist from reducing themselves to the level of being party cadres, ” he said.
The minister said partisan politics are divisive by nature adding that they should never be entertained by respectable chiefs.
Dr Kazonga said Chief Nalubamba should learn a lesson from other chiefs, who are quarreling with their subjects for taking a perceived partisan stance over national issues.

Dr Kazonga just leave Chief Nalubamba alone. Remember what Chitimukulu did during kasama by election viwamina Garu
Chiwamina galu ah ?.Chitimululu was all over supporting MMD the government raised no finger now nalulamba says the opposite these MMD quacks are now quick to point fingers ! yashani kanshi !
Dr Kazonga go through that article again dont get the chief wrong. You should also remember what happen in Kasama, Why cant you aslo say the same about the chief who are supporting YOU like chitimukulu.
This chief is jus a job seeker.A little while ago he was a suppotter of the mmd until he got caught in that scandle where he wanted to sell land of his pipo to foreigners.levy exposed him for who he is. It is on record that he has attemted to dribble his people on saveral occations.
i can cite a few examples: the mbeza irrigation scam, the mbeza bank scandle, the cattle thefts, etc. this chiefs support of our pact should not be taken as something overly good. it may back-fire on us. he has too many skeletons in his closet
Ala, who is this ka Dr to tell Nalubamba whom to support? When Chitimambala supports Kansundila they have no qualms but chaipila Nalubamba to support the Pact, why? Anyway, it’s Kansundila who along with his chief stooge Mlongoti went to crawl before the Litunga like dogs, they should leave Nalubamba out of their business of crawling before any chief to solicit for support. On another note, just what the hell is wrong with these MMD chaps, they all seem to be sick in the body and head. Katele, Koonga, Kunda, Mlongoti etc are all sick. Kanshi finshi balile ba mambala aba? Whatever it is, I want it to work faster, its been a long while since the last time we had a state funeral fimo fimo ka!
He is a chief of high calibre. Always talks sense unlike some MMD ministers.
SEBANA ULYE NEWS CORPORATION, formerly ZNBC, Zambia Daily Mail and Times of Zambia, finshi balelandapo lelo?
so some Phd holders are rubbish in their tuma little heads hee! i thought this man having had a wide view of political and social issues will quickly remind himself that another chief openely supported MMD and no one raised a finger. too gud GBM won those elections. chitimukulu is a mediocre leader. viva bright nalubamba, the chief who reads peoples moods and acts accordingly
Nalubamba is an opportunistic chief with a lot of skeletons in his cupboard. Pact, let’s not swallow everything we are told as long as it is against MMD. Remember KK warned us about FTJ in 1991.
all humanbeings are politicians by nature since every one has his own opinion on all matters concerning the nation
Kazonga – what a fool – let us be objective. MMD is just govt for MMD. Cadres beat up journalists while police chiefs just stand and look. where was Kazonga then?
I want to be objective on this issue. Indeed all chiefs should stay away from public politics and government should condemn all those chiefs involved in politics. But what we are seeing is that when a chief supports MMD and RB there is nothing wrong. If a chief suppot opposition, MMD and RB then rises against that chief. THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH RB, thats why RB has lost respect in Zambia. RB has brought confusion among chiefs now like what Nalubamba is doing its all coz of the recklessness of RB. PLEASE RB SHOW LEADERSHIP.
