Ministers disown Mpombo

Share

SEVERAL Cabinet Ministers have disassociated themselves from their former colleague, George Mpombo’s claims that some of them intend to resign from their government positions to join the Patriotic Front-United Party for National Development (PF-UPND) pact.

Minister of Home Affairs Lameck Mangani said Mr Mpombo, who is Kafulafuta member of Parliament, is only trying to create an atmosphere of suspicion.

“Mr Mpombo is a dreamer. Why should he speak for Cabinet ministers? He is only trying to paint a wrong picture. If he resigned his position in Cabinet, it does not mean that others intend to do the same,” he said.

Mr Mangani said the best approach to take, when there are issues, is discuss as a political party.

“When you resign, what surety is there that you will not find the same problems in other political parties? Every political party has its own problems. Since Mr Mpombo resigned his ministerial position, he should also leave the party,” he said.

And Minister of Works and Supply Mike Mulongoti described Mr Mpombo’s claims as false.

“Does it make sense that someone who is already inside the house should go outside to knock so that he can enter the same house? Mr Mpombo was a minister and he went out before he could even complete his term, and now he wants to come back,” he said.

Mr Mulongoti said Mr Mpombo should not think there are ministers who want to emulate his decision to resign.
Minister of Lands Peter Daka said Mr Mpombo is trying to nurse his self-inflicted pain.

“The man is just hallucinating. I am certainly not one of the ministers he is talking about. I am contented with MMD and its programmes,” he said.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Kabinga Pande said he does not intend to resign his position.

“Resigning is a personal and individual decision which cannot be announced by Mr Mpombo,” he said.
He challenged Mr Mpombo to be courageous enough to name the ministers.

Minister of Community Development and Social Services Michael Kaingu said he is not in politics for sustainability but service.
He pledged his support for President Banda and his administration.

Minister of Livestock and Fisheries Development Bradford Machila wondered why he should resign his government position.

“Why would I do that?” he said when asked whether he was one of the ministers Mr Mpombo was talking about.
And when contacted on the challenge that he names the ministers, Mr Mpombo said he was taking a nap.
“I am taking a nap, my dear, so call me at 16:30 hours,” he said.

When phoned later, he was reportedly out to the farm.

  1. Heheya, we do not expect you little cowards of ministers to come out in the open. After all you still want to reap from Govt then do the needful at the right time. I hope the pact will not entertain those below standard individuals.

  2. Zambian politics has gone to the dawgs, there’s no maturity, discipline or wisdom, its like these ministers spend so much time responding to what Sata and Mpombo say everyday, what time do they work, only ystady Mangani was yapping about Chongwe, then shikapwasha on LITASCO,Mulongoti on Mpombo, just when do they sit down to do some work…GOD help Zambia, there’s so much pettiness in this government

  3. VIRGINIA CHINENA,
Please,if you have got a stable mind dont buy any crap from sata.he is part of the group that have degenerated our state of politics to a state of feaces.and i wonder why your clueless zambians even pop up his name as a possible presidential candidate.can you people if you are sane look around and find some one who can take this stinking country to another level of politics.current politics in zambia lack debate because they are infested with loud dirty mouths like sata, late teta, mulongoti, mangani,
Kambwili and the like.so constructive minds can not engage. So sit down and reflect and who can meet our aspirations in this era not even the ****ed pact some people ate touting.

  4. Mpombo haz scored a spectacular goal; send ministers in a state of panic. Very soon they will start pointing fingerz at each other. There iz no need for any minister to dissociate themselvez from G.Mpombo’z incinuationz.

  5. My advice to Mpombo is “if all else fails lower your standards and shut your trap.” Just join the bandwagon of “political misfits” rather than talking trash to irritate the public.
With reference to comment #6,may be i’m short sighted but i really dont see anyone good enough to become a republican president out of our contemporary politicians. They are all not in the right frame of mind to lead our country to prosperity.Michael Sata,Kambwili and other motor mouths are just a bunch of nonentities whose political mileage is of hidden personal desires!

  6. Its amazing just how devoid of logic Mlongoti’s reasoning has become. Please read the analogy he draw between Mpombo’s resignation and claim of Ministers planning to desert Kanitundila emass: “Does it make sense that someone who is already inside the house should go outside to knock so that he can enter the same house? Mr Mpombo was a minister and he went out before he could even complete his term, and now he wants to come back,” Mlongoti is clearly senile, not even the Ngwazi Kamuzu Banda at 100 years old was so Dementiated, I mean the decline in intellectual functioning, e.g. problems with memory, reasoning and thinking are so abundant in Mlongoti.

  7. #10 You are not being very clear yourself!! If Mpombo has information as to who is going to resign, then why does he not name them? Name them or shut up. I am more interested in real issues relating to agriculture, the economy, education, the environment and health. Mpombo does not offer any ideas on real issues. Why not offer constructive criticism so that we can have a real debates about the issues facing our country?

  8. Do not underrate Mpombo,he has just brought up more confusion amongst the MMD ministers who have
now gone into panic witchhunting on who is who to resign and join the PACT.
    #3 u are very correct.

  9. If just a simple claim like this can send such shock waves in Cabinet sending a troop of senior ministers scampering for the press to deny they are part of the impeding exodus, then you know they have something to hide because they are on the bandwagon. It’s also interesting it was the ones from Kumawa like Mangani who came out first, denying. Only time will tell, for all those who have a length of memory will recall the day when Chiluba’s bwato Cabinet was scuppered unleashing a ministerial scampering episode of biblical proportions. With Kansundila’s circus, I smell “déjà vu” here!

  10. what happens when a “Mpombo” wants to be a human being! “Koyasi” it is. A mpombo belongs to our national wild life parks and do not talk politics. Oh! the vail has been lifited on poor Mpombo.

  11. @10, yours is reverse logic. How can a person think like you do except if they are chainama escapees. You do amaze me. And you have the courage as well to appear on here. Well I guess that you will argue that you are entitled. Fine, but please this space is for sane people, you will do well to find another site where mates of your like mind blog. Not LT Ok. Take heed!

  12. Reminds me of Hitler’s Germany- Every one was a suspect and everyone gave unsolicited denials. Man are we gonna have less sex due to fear that tommorow we may be fired on suspitions that we are part of the ‘pact.’ That is what insecurity breeds. You tell lies to please the master and hope it will last forever. Knowing RB any time some heads will roll soon. By the way is Namulambe untouchable? Shaka and Chibomba were dismissed on lesser offences.

  13. #16 (Muntuza), do you reckon you know better? I rather doubt that. Just make your contribution but keep those sentiments to yourself. #10 has not said anything that should be demeaned, especially not by people seemingly like yourself, who think your breath is worth a damn thing!
    Go easy!

  14. aka pondo
you have no brains thats why you are working in TZ of all places just come back you are an embarrassment to Zambians in the Diaspora

  15. Stop shouting each other down! For christ’s sake, you are disgressing from the issue at hand.
From the denials i can see that all these guys are scared stiff to be seeing or perceived to be talking to the pact. I have always thought Mlongoti had a demanted mind, and his analogue confirms it. What is wrong with talking to people from the pact! King Cobra has come up with a seemingly good political stratergy, scare them and let scamper in all directions.its like witch craft and soon every one will be witch hunting! Its the oldest con in the book! lol He and Mpombo might just have been bluffing, but look at the hype it has generated. I would have been more interested in Nalubambe’s comment though. Mpombo seems to be running out steam, resting at 2 pm. Just where is Shaka’s, and…

  16. The biggest problem we have in this country is having people like mulongoti and mangani in cabinet. For this country to prosper we need people who should behave and act like human beings and not like robots which have pre-programmed set of instructions to follow and can not do any other thing. What makes mangani think that if someone resigns his ministerial position then that somebody must resign from the party?. Mpombo, as controversial as he may be, has every right to remain in MMD. So if MMD wants to remain in power beyond 2011, then the President MUST ensure that all the bad mouths in government are fired soonest so that the party starts repositioning itself properly. The citizens detest the MMD bad mouths, which, if not controlled and stopped, shall cost the MMD the presidency.

  17. AKAPONDO

Is true that you are working in TZ!!! Wow! are you in film industry, ah probably you are a trader!! Chi…colour chobe

  18. ….Magande. The pact should not worry about the crop of ministers RB has in his cabinet, but concentrate their efforts on the disgrantled elements within the MMD like Masebo, Magande, Mpombo, shakafuswa and others! What do some Ministers in cabinet have to offer, nothing!, and thats why the present leadership does not inspire confidence in ordinary Zambians.

  19. Does anyone really believe the likes of Sata and Kambwili are any better than the present cabinet ministers? People as ‘principled’ as Kambwili who as soon as he smells money changes his stance on the so-called infestors? MMD should stop reacting to the likes of Mpombo and concentrate on real issues. For example Zuma will be opening a new sugar cane plantation in Southern province, which will bring employment and earn the country forex. Those are real tangible issues that are happening on the ground. Just ignore disillusioned malcontents such as Mpombo. Why has he not resigned up to now from the MMD if he hates it so much?

  20. Just like #3 has stated, would anyone expect the likes of Mangani and Mulongoti to come out in the open? Just yesterday this same Mangani opened his big mouth to say that Rupiah played no part in the Chongwe compensation claim but to the contrary Chongwe himself has issued a detailed statement in which among other things he has personally comfirmed that Rupiah is very much involved in the matter. What this tells us is that Mangani is a shameless liar and should never be trusted in what comes out of his mouth. The calibre of these MMD ministers is a disgrace no wonder they are engaged in the in-fighting amongst themselves. Veteran, Senior Citizen, Capitalist and MMD bootlicker can you comment on Chongwe’s statement in light of What your minister Mangani said yesterday?

  21. AKAPONDO
That’s why you don’t exclude yourself from the diaspora, because you hoover around TZ!!! You are such an embarrassment mune

  22. bane, kindly concetrate on issue at hand than insulting each other. I guess you spend your time doing nothing but reading LT. find something elso to do. Thats why this country will take long time to develop because people spend too much time blogging. ALA

  23. I think pa LT palifula bashushu pa MMD ba pushi. Definitely do you expect Mpombo to mention names? Sure nangu you are really dull. And I expect Mangani, Mulongoti to talk talk its their job to defend shit and nonsense. Just watch and see. MMD claimed they were popular ku Solwezi you all saw ifwacitike. So for as long as shit is coming from an MMD guy who currently eating from RB , i wont believe it. I would rather believe Sata, HH and people like Mpombo

  24. #11 & #16. For me it’s a four way tie-ignorance, closed-mindedness and s.t.u.p.i.d.i.t.y. These vile vises have for centuries indeed enjoyed a cunning tendency to go hand in hand. It has to take blindness of the worst order to reality to not see that Kansundila is plain corrupt, dull, lazy and s.t.u.p.i.d. Our resolve ought to be to remove this scourge from our corridors of power and not to be silly by implying that my contribution on #10 is illogical in the Mlongoti realm, which amounts to being ludicrous in the improbable realm. Before you paste stuff here, please listen to yourselves first, silly monkeys!

  25. I think pa LT palifula bashushushu ba MMD ba pushi.

  26. Pa kwindi abena MMD, balya sana, lekeni bambi balyeko naimwe. Ba S.H.I.T. People like Mangani, Mulongoti, Kunda G, Ronnie balandalanda fye…….

  27. With so much precedent abound of the nature of Zambian politics especially towards the end of presidential terms, I will not be the one caught denying the antecedent. I mean, Mulongoti is a silly monkey and it has to take another silly primate to follow his illogical thinking premised on a wish to retain the status core for the sake of his own pocket. All sane minds know that from the fact that Mpombo is no longer in cabinet, it would be brazen stupidity of monumental proportions to infer with certainty that he wouldn’t know of any minister/s about to bail out of Kansundila’s cabinet, since he may have recently been talking to Musokotwane, Kunda or Namulambe. Only time will tell!

  28. Firstly, everyone should know that Mpombo is a product of the Family Tree. He is a modern day Judas Iscariot to his political party MMD. After amassing wealth as MMD minister, he can now sit comfortably in his armchair and become a critic of the system he supported but left some few months ago. Remember when he was Energy minister in 2005, the country experienced fuel shortages when he was busy enjoying himself overseas. Ask him what development he has brought to Kafulafuta. He is lucky his image builders the Post are busy giving him space since they appear to think now he is talking sense since he is no longer in the system. The likes of Sata, Kavindele and others who were part of the MMD system are now regarded as great thinkers because they are no longer in the system. What cheek!

  29. Just a thought, if mulongoti and mangani joined the pact and the pact won, they’d probably still be ministers. hell masebo, magande and mpombo would probably also find their way back as ministers. shakafuswa is best remembered for his slaughtering of hoochies at parliament motel! it’s just garbage in garbage out in all the parties. nothing is gonna change if we keep recycling comedians, these chaps belong in a circus, all of them

  30. MANDINGO man men (39) you are damn right. These people are a bunch of power-hungry comedians with nothing to offer apart from rhetoric. Why should we be taken for a ride this far? Why should we take them serious? They have all failed and fallen short of the expectations of Zambians, fullstop.

  31. This is an embarrassment to the UPND-PF PACT.Politics is about voter conversion and not spewing unintelligent hallucinations on a daily basis. When you over do the lying business, integrity is lost and and your demagoguery becomes a myth in the courts of wise public juriprudence.Mpombo is a political failure and too dull ‘crosstitute”to realize all these. His intermittent party shifting aside, he has never been a political force. In 1991 he was just a UNIP vigilantee that kept threatening Ndola rural voters and lying to Dr.Kaunda for the crash of MMD.in 2002 he moved from UPND to MMD. in both 2002 and 2006 he lied to Levy that he could pull Copperbelt for Levy but results showed disaster.Despite country wide MMD support, had Teta in NW and RB not delivered landslides, Levy could be one…

  32. MMD does not depend on Mpombo’s failed logic to win elections but national wide party functionaries, strategists, public good will & issues of the time.To unintelligibly insinuate that MMD would lose or take destruction at the whim of a useless hallucinating loser is failed understanding of real power politics driving variables that trigger dynamics.MMD is more solid today than the worst years of polarization in 2001-2006.At no other time than the early years of MMD has this party better restored and reconnected with its grassroot party functionaries as under RB.MMD has a very bright future out of 2011.I have always avoided zeroing on the 2011 prospects to avoid impregnation the MMD membership with complacence & damage competitive democracy by deflating opponents.

  33. #41 VETERAN, For once you are very right when you say ‘ When Overdoing the lying business integrity is lost’. This best describes Mr Mangani with his chain of lies.

  34. We only have ourselves to blame by making people like bena Mpombo look like they are our saviors politically. Everything they yap about has become “hear, hear” like they respond in parliament. And if by chance some other party came into power, the Mpombos, Kavindeles and the like would form Cabinet! No wonder there are two professions you can never challenge:Female Prostitution and Political Prostitution. Fellow Zambians, surely these people have taken us for granted for too long. We have been tolerant for too long.

  35. fellow zambians let me lie and defend all this rubbish done by my Boss because i am paid for all my bluffing, and my frend Mike is paying for what he did at that Press Conference when he climbed the tree and Peed on ba Boss otherwise he ws to be fire.We call this…. Sebana wikute.

  36. #48 Mangani…..you are funy man ..hahahahahah, heheheheh……ati sebana wikute like what Senior Citizen Veteran does here on LT. Hahahahah its true ni sebana wikute!!!!!!

  37. RB is also just too slow in acting. These Chaps the Pombo’s together with the Post Newspapers are criminals. RB knows their criminal activities but he can’t act. In the meantime the criminals are busy trying to put amala ya mbushi ne mpombo around his neck. Please RB time is of essence; let the anti corruption take action on these people. These Chaps they have taken up the so called fake legacy as their shied from their corruption just like they used the so called fight against Chiluba corruption to shield their own corruption which they carried out against Zambia with the help of International mercenaries. Mr. President, please act now, otherwise those of us with information on these people will soon take action, and the consequences of our actions will be far reaching.

  38. Please don’t allow this villain of a Mpombo to give an impression that he can go into shadow boxing with you. It is not good for your image. Put the moron where belongs. You don’t have to chase him from MMD but at least t let him test the coolers for their past criminal deeds.

  39. South African Companies Plan to Invest $600 Million in Zambia

Dec. 8 (Bloomberg) — South African companies plan to invest $600 million in Zambia over the next two years, Zambian Trade and Industry Minister Felix Mutati said.

The investment will be made in industries including real estate, agriculture, mining and manufacturing, Mutati said at a seminar today in the capital, Lusaka. South African President Jacob Zuma is currently visiting Zambia with a delegation of 60 representatives of South African companies.

  40. Am not a supporter of any party in Zambia, but for those of you who are supporters of various parties i have a few pointers.
Do you think just because you change the name of a political party then that will being development? What is it that Sata with Willie Sanda, GBM and the like will bring to the table. Remember Sata and all these people were all in MMD, do you think their mentality has changed just because of a different name of the party? You will have people like Mpombo Masebo Magande and the rest joing the pact if it wins, that will practically be the same MMD in government under a different name. Its like you chase Supreme Furnitures and bring in Burnnets (however they spell that). Lets not be fooled by people who talk sense only when they are outside government

  41. contd. but do rubbish when they are inside. Even RB, if he was in the opposition you would think this dude is our savior! But now that his in power, its kamulya weka! My suggestion to well meaning Zambians is that its time we found a sensible patriotic group of men and women that can run our country. Lets not be fooled by all these job seekers who are just there to win our votes, or who are going to say whatever they think we would like to hear just to go into government. Lets show these politicians that we the voters are their bosses and not their followers. Lets get rid of all these old folks and bring in completely new blood. Sata and RB have been in politics from the beginning of the second republic till now, what is it that they didn’t do then that they will do now? ANS: NOTHING!

  42. Only those 4 or 5 ministers are with RB, where are the rest? This justifies the claims of Mpombo. Look at this Prof. Lungwangwa, he damn scared and quiet! Mulozi will reject him for not supporting BRE.

  43. LT, 5 boot licking Ministers is not several. Let us take out Mangani, Peter Daka and the obvious mental problematic Mulongoti, we remain with only 3. I don’t believe 3 cna constitute the word SEVERAL.

  44. The point gentlemen is, that even if the entire Cabinet resigned and joined the pact, what new things will they bring about? Someone said its like chasing Supreme Furnishers and bringing in Barnetts. What hurts me most is that some people have been in politics from the first republic to date, jumping from one political party to another in the process as the years went by. I have no faith in any of these politicians. The problem is that Zambians are shortsighted and can even afford to look at Sata, Mpombo, the privatisation chap HH and others as our liberators. They just want us to take them to State House and it will be the same old system, nothing will change.
