ACTING MMD spokesperson Mike Mulongoti has challenged former Defence minister George Mpombo to resign from the MMD because he has become irrelevant to the party.

Mr Mulongoti who was reacting to Mr Mpombo’s continued attacks on the MMD said the fact that the MMD was not responding to his utterances showed that he had become irrelevant to the party.
He said keeping quiet did not mean that the party could not take action against Mr Mpombo and that it was a matter of time before action was taken.[quote]

“As a member of NEC he should have been doing something that can build the party and not divide it. If he wants he should leave the party,” he said.

Mr Mulongoti wondered why Mr Mpombo was crying for a convention when he had abandoned the people that voted for him as chairperson for energy.
He said that Mr Mpombo’s behaviour had consequences and that he should not blame anyone if the party acted.

And Mr Mulongoti refuted claims that the MMD is panicking because of the formation of the Patriotic Front (PF)-United Party for National Development (UPND) Pact, saying it is strategizing for the 2011 elections.

He was reacting to UPND president Hakainde Hichilema’s claims that the MMD was panicking because of the pact.
He said the MMD could not panic because it was not even known who would challenge President Rupiah Banda from the PF-UPND Pact in 2011.
He said the two leaders in the pact – Michael Sata and Mr Hichilema had been beaten by the MMD on several occasions and that the party would only be concerned if it was a different candidate who would challenge President Banda.

He said it was the PF-UPND Pact that was panicking and that was the reason the two parties came together because they knew they could not dislodge the MMD from office.

MMD national chairperson Michael Mabenga agreed with Mr Mulongoti on the matter and also said the party was strategizing for 2011 elections.

Mr Mabenga said the MMD was not asleep but strategizing for the 2011 elections and the opposition should look out.
He said it was Mr Hichilema who was panicking because he did not know what he would be even if the PF/UPND Pact won elections.
He said Mr Hichilema was panicking to the extent of allegedly bribing people in North Western Province with cows so that they could vote for his party in future elections.

When contacted for a comment on calls to resign from the ruling party, Mr Mpombo said Mr Mulongoti had no moral or political right to ask him to leave the party.

He said it was Mr Mulongoti who was a liability to the MMD.
“It is Mulongoti and his colleagues who have plunged the party into a crisis it is now experiencing. Unless people like Mulongoti leave, the party faces a irreversible political calamity,” he said.
Mr Mpombo accused Mr Mulongoto of not having feelings for the party.

  1. Our so called ‘leaders’ are nothing but a bunch of ifikopo with no idea of their job description. Honestly, is this all they can do?

  2. This Monkey is not only annoyinh but very destructive thug. He should have learnt from the demise of his colleague Teta Mashi.

  3. The current political scene is interesting to say the least. All these guys are desprate. The opposition despite the previous by-election wins are in leadership limbo.Mpombo doesnt know his future and MMD are indeed looking for ways to win the next elctions.

  4. Mpombo is overdoing it, I think his point has been made and the fact that the Mad Dogs have been forced to call for a convention should now bring Mr Duicker’s BP lower and strategise with the masses on finding the alternative to RB, it is not easy but can be done, incumbency, read, POVERTY, will always work to the advantage of RB even though clearly he is a wrong leader at the time really needed some good leadership.

  5. (He said: keeping quiet did not mean that the party could not take action against Mr Mpombo and that it was a matter of time before action was taken). Why did you reverse the CB MMD committe’s suspension of Mpombo? It crystal clear your MMD is not sure of what the result would be in case of bye election in Kafulafuta hence your dithering. And man are you one ugly son of a******

  6. Simple mathematics: Say MMD = 5, PF = 4 AND UPND = 3, it is a given that MMD’s is bigger than PF’s 4 and also bigger than UPND’s 3. However, if PF and UPND combine their 4 and 3 together in a Pact, their tally is 7 which is 2 bigger than MMD’s 5, regardless of whether its Sata or HH running. This is the simple maths eluding the thick skull of Mulongoti because if he appreciated this simple arithmatics, he would not have farted this statement: ” Michael Sata and Mr Hichilema had been beaten by the MMD on several occasions and that the party would only be concerned if it was a different candidate who would challenge President Banda.” Besides, its not a given that Banda will be the MMD candidate. He might not even be around in 2011, alah!

  7. But Mulongoti, awe sure, bushe kwaliba such degree of urgliness? Has this guy not been Kansundila’s cholaboy, which woman would even come close to him? He would be sweating with aplications to lonely hearts columns and busy jerking himself off over those small pictures on top of the Post. Since the MMD is coming close to “inshiku shakwa Noah”, I would be careful if I were this Mlongoti fool and be nice to Fred M’Membe because if he decided to take away these ‘fwenkhula” pictures Mulongoti, you would have to grow yourself a bionic right hand for a life of w**nking, every hour!

  8. Bushe is it the politicians or the media who are responsible for such trivial information like politicians commenting on fellow politicians e.g. who insulted who, who said what etc?. Sorry but I find it extreemly irrelevant and nonsensical

  9. Iwe Mulongoti, expell Mpombo ala. Why do you always fear him? Expell him so that us the PACT grabb the seat. If you cant expell him then keep quiet man.

  10. This shows maturity from the MMD as the MMD does not hold grudges but is a democratic party that is neither regional nor dictatorial. The MMD is surely the party of the people and the best choice for the 2011 elections.

  11. Where did this man get this ugly nose from? Ati mumbwapalanoko palawiso ukuwama. In this case ths man nipala wiso ukubipa. Mulongoti uliwakamona zoona mudala.

  12. Mulongoti is a scarecraw and the owrst bootlicker the world has ever known. If Mpombo is irrelevant then Mulongoti is useless and worth for the rubbish bin. Mulingoti is the worst enemy of democracy and most useless bootlicker of the day. Mulongoti is a carder and shameless bootlicker.

  13. Mpombo warned you of giving you POLITICAL DRUGS AND IN THE RIGHT DOSAGES. Be careful iwe ka Mulongoti. Magande is winning the MMD President post. Watch out

  14. Can someone, anyone supporting UPND-PF pact please answer the following. And please, dont give me the ”we know what we are doing” answer.
1…HAKASATA is on record that the current cabinet is bloated. Tell me where is the Pact going to put its cadres if they ever came to power without creating more offices.?
2…How is HAKASATA going to tackle the Taiwan issue ,since everyworking brain knows that Sata got billions from Taiwan with the promise that he would chase the chinese and recognise TAIWAN?
3…is the 90 days great revolution still on?
4…As for HH,is this late Mazoka’s legacy he is pursuing of selling off his votes to SATA?
Getting rid of the MMD is far much easier than runing the country…..

  15. I ‘m just waiting for Senior Citizen utter his usually propaganda nonsense. I actually enjoy his Blog, its like looking back at Russia/USSR in the days of proper-agenda , don’t get me wrong, I am a socialist, that backs freedom of expression. If RB had to start running outside state house naked and mentally insane, Senior Citizen would give a reason and praise RB for that.. it just who he is!

  16. awe ka molongoti,

just fire him ……dont ask him to leave he doesnt want to leave , he loves mmd

or u can have RB go on tv and say like he did with chibombamilimo and shakafuswa …

” i will take them to the nEC and fire them from my party.i will follow them to the constituency and remove them ”

thats more like what we wanna hear…

  17. Hey! I we #20, Zambia fimofimo! Stop living in the past. What do you know about the pact of which you are not even a member? Even if you are a member you will never be in the top administration of the pact, neither will you be in the administration at the ward level. STOP!

  18. # 23…Macho fimo fimo, i see you are as blank as any of us. I dont blame you because i know even HakaSata himself does not have answers as well. And what past are you on about ,SATA made a pact with the devil and we should not pretend that it has gone away…These are issues that need to be looked into….and no Machobani iam not interested in any position…besides they are all taken, even the ones that dont exist yet !All the best to all of you with high hopes for those positions…wina azalila

  19. Spot on # 22 these guys have just grown cold feet after Solwezi and Kasama the just cant stomuch another lose in Kafulafuta.Had it not bin 4 dat Mpombo wud have long gone, and Mpombo is well aware of dis already he has dared them to fire him worse still 4 MMD he continues to be disrespectful of Ba Bwazwani.

  20. No.13 Mrs. Capitalist. You should get the facts right before commenting. Who cheated you that mmd is a popular party and is the best party for 2011? For your own information mmd is only found in the rural areas, come into town and you dont see people openly supporting mmd apart from the paid up caders. Its only that you are not in Zambia thats why you cant see the reality.

  21. Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence. — Albert Einstein

  22. He is at it again. Singing the masters song again. But utekanye how you deal with Mpombo. You may just loose the whole copperbelt. If you have not alredy lost it. Wekapubawe!

  23. mulongoti is speaking sense.#13 good comment,# 20,powerful questions.where is veteran to put some sense in mpombo and # 26.votes are votes whether they are coming from rural areas or not.the good thing with democracy is that your vote will be counted as 1 whether you vote from kabulonga or chadiza.so if mmd is not popular in towns,we can not say it is not popular at all because the majority of voters are in rural areas.

  24. #13 u’r such a f**K for thinking MMD is the best party around. lets we see what others can do. no wonder you are a stupid capitalist.

  25. This man has turned into a ferocious beast and needs to be dealt in a hard way. Even though the Zambian economy has become a symbol of success to the outside world that MMD was doing the right things, we have people that are so tribal that they can’t accept that Rupiah Banda has united the country. Mpombo has a mentality of an insurgent and he needs to be retired together with his nephew – Namulambe. They came together, they must leave together.

  26. This Mulongoti would qualify for ugly man of the year and he owuld probably also qualify as Zambia’s dullest politician and bootlicker. What a situation to be in, he failed his degree eight times and celebrated for a week when he was finally awarded it and probably dubiously. Taba, kwena only in Zambia can wwe have such sycophants as ministers. It tells a lot about our disorganised society. We mourn the brain-drain otherwise such lumpens like Mulongoti should never ever be anywhere near the instruments of power. Bwafya kwena!!

  27. it makes sad reading for mandrax delaers to be insulting each other via the presss…mike, time will tell ..george may be right and tell michael and rupiah not to bury their heads in the sand ka!wina azalila come 2011…

  28. Ba Pact, please give us your Cabinet if you won elections in 2011, Lubinda, Guy Scott the two presidents, who else? Kambwili? Is that why you are advocating a small cabinet because you cant find enough people that can actually speak in public and make sense? MMD surely has some bad elemements, but the majority are presentable.

  29. And just an observation, why is it that the pact supporters are the ones insulting others on this blog all the time? Does it have to do with the Leadership?

  30. Mpombo, Mlongoti, Shika…they’re all the same MMD BS. Only difference is, one is hurt, the others are having a great time, feasting on off our sweat. They’re all airheads, devoid of intellectual thought, cheerleaders who very soon will have nothing to cheer about. Give me the name of one thinker in the MMD. Nil. Masipa A Poho. MAP.

  31. # 37, where did you see two cabinets in one nation? You expect the Pact to have a cabinet for what? Cabinets are formed after you win power not before. Probably you are advocating parallel govts. One question Sir, Are you satisfied with current cabinet iya ba Grade 12 and some grade 7 chaps?

  32. Isn’t calling the President a liar defamatory? Why isn’t the DPP protecting the office of President? It is a very serious accusation to call a head of state a liar and it is time that someone was made an example of. In UK, people are giving evidence on the war in Iraq and the nearest that anyone has come in calling a former Prime Minister a liar was to say he used ‘subterfuge.’ The office of President is of such importance that immunity from prosecution was granted to the holder by law. Why is that so? People may not understand this but the President is Commander-in-chief of the armed forces. If he is a liar how can he send troops into war? If he is a liar, how can he defend the constitution? Someone, must be made to adduce evidence of lying. It is treason.

  33. Second, the Speaker of Parliament must act on MPs who are defaming the President. MPs are supposed to attack and or criticise the government but not the office holder of the Presidency. Perhaps Michael Sata, who knows how to use the law should become President, then, people will know what it means to defame the President. HE Banda is too nice for this office.

  34. Ba SAINT ….awe naimwe you are so ingnorant man. As if you are not the saint. Go back to grade 8 and 9 to learn more about CIVICS. You find this questions…1) what is democracy, 2) what are the powers of the president? 3) what are the functions of parliament and its MPs?? etc. If a grade 9 can answer these simplesqustions , its so surprising that the saint cant.

  35. “He said Mr Hichilema was panicking to the extent of allegedly bribing people in North Western Province with cows so that they could vote for his party in future elections.”
WE COULD HAVE CALLED IT ‘BRIBE’ IF THE PARTY CELEBRATIONS WERE HELD BEFORE THE ELECTIONS, LIKE RB AND HIS TEAM BRIBES PEOPLE BEFORE ELECTIONS ARE HELD. ARE YOU SO IGNORANT EVEN ABOUT THE DEFINITION OF ‘BRIBE’? YOU MUST BE AN EMPTY HEAD I.D.I.O.T.

  36. ladies and gentlemen all we can talk about is Sata this, Mulongoti that, Hichilema and the Legacy, personal issues only, lets talk about developmental issues lets suggest to the non listening govenrment how it can state listening and implement development programmes.

i dont kn if some of u dont get bored discussing personal issues without content………..or is it the zambian way????

  37. Politics is the waste job one can embark on especially in Zambia.Mulongoti is one of the bootlickers we have produced.Because you have been told that in this plane am boarding fuel is not enough to reach our destination.2011 is the destination, fuel are zambians behind MMD and plane is the MMD.Let him crush with MMD.

  38. The debates about leadership in Zambian political parties only comes from the MMD. Meanwhile, Mr Michae Chilufya Sata has lost 3 elections and Mr Hichilema 2. In UK there is no leader of a political party who attempts an election 3 times and continues as leader! If Zambians in the opposition were really serious, they would have kicked out the Satas and Hichilemas long time ago, but could it be that these ‘parties’ are so financially dependent on the two that they would be nowhere without them? If that is the case, it is a dangerous thing to elect any one of them to power. An individual should never be bigger than the party. I am not MMD but that is a better option for democracy.

  39. It is also interesting to note that some MMD members want to change a leader who won them an election! Those whose leaders have failed up to 3 times, do not want to change their leaders! What kind of thinking goes on in the Zambian psyche? This is a nation that needs Sigmund Freud to resurrect and analyze this. Granted that Magande has a democratic right to challenge for the leadership, why is there no challenge against the real LOSERS (Sata and HH)? I am certain that had Mazoka lost another election, he would have handed over to another. A gentleman indeed! But why are we still stuck with no real choice. I am disappointed.

  40. It is interesting that when hard questions are asked about the alternative to MMD all sorts of insults come up. #41 what #37 is asking for is a Shadow Cabinet from the opposition – this is not a second cabinet in the country. #20, 24 actually as we go close to elections I see a situation where the opposition will become more and more irrelevant. Sad but true – I tell you, by 2011 someone will cry. Just one comment about freedom of expression – a few months ago one Senator shouted “You lie” when Obama was giving a speech. He had to apologize unreservedly. The so-called independent press and opposition leaders insult the president all the time in Zambia – what a shame. The degree of tolerance of Rupiah Banda is actually annoying.

  41. Please old folks retire……it is about time you gave chance to your children to
rebuild the country……Thankyou for your parts, awe mwe!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  42. #51, Shadow cabinets is like doing shadow boxing. It makes nonsense. Why have a shadow govt like you know who is going to win parliamentary positions? You see, this is the problem we have in Africa, we start counting eggs even before they hatch. Politics like weather do change. The Pact can be strong today but that does not mean they will be in power tomorrow. There are young men and women very capable of leading and up to now are just assessing the situation obtaining on the ground. You will be surprised to find that Sata and HH are not the ones to take over leadership but a nonentity who comes up and mesmerize the aspirations of the nation and takes over. What good will the shadow do? Only Africa because you believe in being led by others that you know who will even lead before hand.

  43. In Management, shadowing is like doing like doing apprenticeship. Are you willing to do apprenticeship with RB, Vera “Chiluba” Tembo, George Kunda, Shikapwasha, Mulongoti, Liato and others that are in office today? Why do you think it takes some months before forming cabinet? It is to evaluate, do background checks, and all in all finding right people for right positions according to qualifications and experiences. Sad that we do not do that in Zambia. Probably will not be in the situation we are now. Perpetual poverty and poor state of our political leadership. Guess what, that is the reason we have leaders who thank appointing authorities in their wills. Why, no qualification, no leadership and failure to understand that allegiance must be to the people not the President.

  44. Finally, my friend, #51, I think you misplaced what is annoying. What is annoying is having Banda as President and his perpetuation of corruption and ever growing tribalism. Do you recall the person who coined the word, wako in wako in UNIP? Probably that will help you know what really is annoying.

  45. Mulongoti accept that Mpombo is a big threat to the MMD. Small boys like Namakando were suspended; touch Mpombo and face defeat

  46. Both Mpombo and Mulongoti are demagogues who the wise will do well to ignore. No need to insult each other over these 2 muppets. What have Mpombo and Mulongoti done to develop our nation? Zero!! These 2 are in politics to satisfy their bloated egos.I can’t wait for the time when Zambia will have leaders who put the interest of the nation first

  47. I wonder why the same QUIETNESS of MMD was not extended to Shakafuswa and Chibombamilimo. They were expressly expelled.

  48. Mulongoti is indeed dull. If the party’s silence implies Mpombo is irrelevant, then why consider taking a displinary action against him?. Imagine Mulongoti the lawyer representing a client in a court of law; what a dead head he may look!!. For once learn from your past friends ie teta, mistakes and show the people of this country that you are above the rest and respectable. Do not make yourself appear cheap and dull. I know you are the MMD mouth peace but that doesn’t mean you should be misusing your mouth anyhow. Remember, bad mouthing people everywhere are greatly abhored. It is because of cheap people like yourself that are making president Banda unpopular among the electorates. SHUT UP FOR ONCE AND CONTINUE DANCING AT THE AIRPORT FOR YOUR lord

  49. Mulongoti is indeed dull. If the party’s silence implies Mpombo is irrelevant, then why consider taking a displinary action against him?. SHUT UP FOR ONCE AND CONTINUE DANCING AT THE AIRPORT SO THAT YOU PRESERVE YOUR MINISTERIAL PORTIFOLIO.

  50. Mulongoti is a liability to everyone, including himself and MMD! He knows he is vulnerable and wants to PULL Everyone Down with him. Mpombo is more articulate and reasonable, has a sense of pride(therefore dignity!), and does not tolerate nonsense(nonsensical). Mulongoti doesnt have a constituency and in MMD was merely appointed!, so he doesnt represent anyone except off course his ever empty stomach. Such Charlatans are a danger to society at large. He should learn to keep quiet! Where in hell did they fabricate that nose. Its large than that of the Hippotanamus!!!!

  51. All consituencies surrounding Kafulafuta were scooped by PF. Mbombo proved to be more popular in that Area.If they opt to expell Mbombo the seat will be won by the opposition.

  52. #53 Kalos
The most successful transitions of government happened in Namibia and Sout Africa. Why is that so? The SWAPO and ANC were governments in waiting. Where there is an official opposition party in parliament, the opposition are given access to statistics in the government departments so that they can begin to plan their own budgets and strategy. Secondly, shadowing a cabinet allows opposition MPs to concetrate on particular areas of interest and also to show their capabilities before the day they enter government. The material they collect is in the domain of the party, so whether that MP loses or not, the party has the information. Lastly, you have a party spokesperson for each area of interest.

  53. The MMD is like a naked person who boasts about the many clothes he/she has instead of just dressing up when people ridicule their nakedness. So Insane!!! MMD…, katwishi tata.

  54. # 63, Saint, you say the truth. Unfortunately our national leaders do not have the balls to deal with oppositions in the manner they did in Namibia. They are like day and night. They don’t want to meet at all. Remember Levy and Sata near fight at High Court? Look at the way they have been calling each other names. These guys are like kids at a play ground. Ifisapo at their ages. Remember how MMD reacted when Sata came up with the Ghost Worker pay stub for Thandiwe? Everything to them is national secret. Even when they have opposition sworn PMs that can keep national secrets, they do not privy them with data and but have they have to find out through The Post.

  55. Kalos2020 Thanks a lot for the civil manner in which you are blogging and thanks a lot THE SAINT for trying to clarify my blog. Why we need a shadow cabinet from the opposition is so we know who will be taking care of Govt business should the opposition win. If for example Nsanda is shadow Minister of Finance we can start developing an understanding of what we are in for. The shadow cabinet of MMD in 1991 was so appealing to the Zambian electorate besides the fact that people were yearning for change. You are very right, we need to mature as a democracy – civility is still elusive almost 50 years later. It is so sad when you consider what the young man Hichilema says when he opens his mouth. To me he is a misrepresentation of the new generation that should take over the reigns.

  56. Talk of shadow cabinet is an illusion with the powers of the President under the current constitution. MMD’s 1st shadow cabinet fizzled out in reality as FTJ tasted the plot 1 sweets. Fix the constitution first!
