Government has warned the Church to beware of infiltrators that use the pulpit to insult the government of the day.
Southern Province Minister, Daniel Munkombwe said government will not tolerate arrogant criticism or be controlled by unreasonable arrogance.
He was speaking yesterday during a Council f Churches in Zambia (CCZ) Livingstone Chapter fellowship dinner at David Livingstone College of Education (DALICE).
Mr. Munkombwe observed that unreasonable politicians are inciting Church leaders to insult President Rupiah Banda and his government.
He said the church should not be seen to gamble with leadership by entertaining some political leaders whom he said have nothing to offer.
“Why should the church gamble with leadership? We are trying to learn to suffer by entertaining some political leaders,” he warned.
The Minister said the Church is a partner in development and that it should help instill confidence in the government of the day.
Mr. Munkombwe called for unity, love and brotherliness if higher developmental heights are to be attained.
And speaking earlier, CCZ Local Chapter Rev. Juden Siachitema has commended government for improving infrastructure development in the district.
He however expressed worry at the unregulated opening and closing time for bars and taverns in the city and further appealed for intensified security for the safety of human life and property.
Meanwhile, Livingstone Anglican Church Father John Katete has implored Christians to utilize the festive season to strengthen relations and marriage bonds.
“Let the festive season strengthen marriage bonds. When everyone is busy eating and drinking and merry-making, Christians should use the period to work on their relationships,” he advised.

Firstly as Christians we are to ensure justice for the vulnerable, in Zambia that means each and every citizen. If mr. Munkonbwe would read the Bible he would see where it explicitly says when evil men rule people mourn. Zambians have been mourning since independence, thus we shall criticise. As for Christmas should Christ not be celebrated year onwards since we are a Christian nation. Criticism is the fuel of a democracy, he who wants a Kaunda dictatorship can simply build a Marty Mcfly time machine and travel back to the future.

#2, Munkombwe has always been a clown and at his age it is shameful. You will have noticed that he mentions the name Rupiah Banda whenever he opens his mouth. Munkombwe is more than a bootlicker. It’s like the only way he can cling on to his job. He is a sick man and should not be taken notice of. We all know that only Chiluba uses the pulpit to advance his agenda without shame. Chiluba pretends to be a God- fearing man yet standing by his side always is a loose woman he stole from someone.
What did we do to have such crazy old leaders? while he was at it, he might as well have warned people against clergy men who steal peoples wives and daughters and deal in stones
