THE United Party for National Development (UPND) and the Patriotic Front (PF) have not yet agreed on who will be their joint presidential candidate in the 2011 elections. This is contrary to assertions by PF president Michael Sata that he will contest the republican presidency.
UPND spokesman Charles Kakoma said in an interview yesterday that the presidential candidate for the UPND/PF pact will be chosen by a national governing council of the alliance.
He said no-one has been chosen as presidential candidate for the UPND/PF alliance because the two parties are still working on selling the alliance.
“I am a member of the national governing council where decisions are made. The national governing council has not chosen anyone to represent the pact in the presidential elections,” Mr Kakoma said.
On remarks attributed to Mr Sata on one of the private radio stations that he (Sata) is the presidential candidate, Mr Kakoma said the PF leader must have been misquoted.
And UPND Namwala member of Parliament Robby Chizyuka Chizyuka said Mr Sata does not qualify to be the UPND-PF pact presidential candidate because people in the UPND strongholds do not recognise him.
Major Chizyuka said that in several parts of the country, people only know UPND president Hakainde Hichilema as their candidate, and not Mr Sata. “I was in Kaoma, Nangoma and other places where UPND is leading. Mr Sata is not even known by these people and, to be frank, the people in these areas only know Hakainde Hichilema as president,” he said in an interview.
On Chinese Investment
In another development the UPND says that it is not opposed to Chinese investments in Zambia as long as the investors uphold Zambia’s industrial and labour laws. Mr Kakoma said Chinese investment should only be allowed on condition that they uphold the labour laws and respect workers’ rights. He said that there is nothing wrong with Chinese investment if they adhere to the laws of the land.
He said the Chinese have invested all over the world, in Europe, America and South Africa and there is no problem if they uphold the labour laws.
He said people working for the Chinese in Zambia, especially miners, are subjected to unsafe working conditions. [quote]
And Evangelical Youth Alliance International president Moses Lungu and Major Chizyuka have wondered why Mr Sata is so opposed to Chinese investors in Zambia when it is evident that they are helping to improve Zambia’s economy for the benefit of all Zambians.
Mr Lingu said that Chinese investments are key to the improvement of Zambians’ standards of living. “Chinese investments in Zambia cannot be ignored; it would be at our own peril. So many countries the world over have welcomed it because they have seen that it is genuine,” he said.
Reverend Lungu has challenged Zambians to work hard and learn from the Chinese on how they have managed to bring massive investments in their country.
Rev Lungu called on politicians to stop attacking the Chinese who are creating jobs for Zambians.
Major Chizyuka also wondered why Mr Sata is strongly opposed to Chinese investors. He said Chinese investments and projects in his constituency are impressive and effective. Maj Chizyuka said these include investments in mining and infrastructure development such as road rehabilitation.
He said Chinese investments are real and consistent. Some of the investments, he said, go back to the early years of independence when Mr Sata was in Government. Maj Chizyuka said Mr Sata seems to have forgotten about the great things the Chinese government did for Zambia during first President Kenneth Kaunda’s reign.
“Mr Sata is forgetting that most of the investment in this country was in the 1970s and was brought by the Chinese whom he is condemning today,” he said.
Maj Chizyuka said it is high time the Zambians appreciated the work the Chinese are doing. He wondered what investment Mr Sata would bring to Zambia if he came to power.
Maj Chizyuka also condemned Mr Sata for reportedly cutting short an interview with the Voice of America. He said such an opportunity (interview) should be used to market the country.
“How do you bring wealth to the country if you cannot sell your country through such interviews with international journalists?” Maj Chizyuka said.
[Zambia Daily Mail]
They still have time to decide. Only make sure the right man is chosen.
yes, they are still working on that 1. after all it is even too early to choose a candidate. just wait and see..
If they continue with kind of attitude, the pact will disintergrate before the elections. Some how Hakainde made a mistake to trust Sata who is not ready to give way to anyone else in the pact to contest and can ruin HHs political career.
Sata is/will be the person in his stronghold areas and HH is/will be the right person in his strong hold areas.
For the first time in HISTORY, we are going to have TWO presidents, i like it, whats wrong with that, Sata and HH seam to be doing fine and they can continue doing the same when they share bedrooms ku plot 1
Yes, the right person should be chosen. Whoever is chosen should submit and support the other. Whoever becomes President to represent this PACT should ask the other to become his vice to cement all parties who will be part of this. Surely, Zambia will benefit with only two Presidents standing in 2011 as that will be a sign of growth. Maj. Chizyuka should be checked as such are sell-outs and maybe used.
There is time to iron out the pact. Make sure Sata is known in the UPND strong holds and HH is known in the PF strong hold. that way people will know that if they vote PF or UPND its just 1 and the same thing
WHO IS THIS CHIZYUKA GUY KANSHI? HE DOES NOT NEED TO DESTROY THE PACT, HIS JOB IS SECURED AS LONG AS THE PACT WINS. ITS TIME FOR UNITY IF WE EVER GONNA GET THESE THIEVES OUT IN THE COLD. THE PACT SHOULD BE LOOKED AT AS UNITY IN DIVERSITY. ONE ZAMBIA BA*******LA ONE NATION. ONE NATION , ONE LEADER. AND THAT LEADER IS SATA
The bottom line is that AlaBee must go and go quickly.
Chizyuka has no right to comment on either Sata or Hakainde he is expelled from the pact let him go to MMD why is he wasting his energy kanshiiiii
I dont think now is the time for confusion in the pact. We know Sata may not be the best canditate but neither is HH. The best we can do is put both in one team and we have a winning team. We need to get rid of RB, even if it means having two presidents in State house
looking at political muscle and experience, it is only natural that Sata rules for the first 5 years then he gives way to HH in the next 5. HH needs a little bit more time therefore he needs just for a while to work under Sata learn a few tricks then we can trust him with the Pullman Mercedes Benz
Cheap MMD propaganda.
They dont have to decide, fielding 2 candidates could double their probability of winning. Viva HH, Viva Sata
SATA is the right man. chizhuka ubo bushi!!!!!!viva sata viva pact.
The very issues that Chizyuka was asking you to iron out are now arising. You have vindicated him. How is it possible that we in the marriage can have to positions if we intend to form gvernment. How possible is it that one fragment of government is for Chinese development (UPND) and another is completley against it (PF). These are the intricate issues that should have been ironed out from the on set. Stop fooling yourselves in hoping that this presidency issue will be sorted out later. The time is now, for all those who mean good, let those strong holds be given time to accept whoever will lead. As much as Sata has following so does HH. Iron out these differences now, so the Pact can sing one song, not just kick out MMD.The Pacts doom will be going to 2011 with a disgruntled electrorate
Kanitundila, sitting on this issue is like sitting on a bomb waiting to explode, the old man will need to some to terms with the fact that he may not lead. Thus they need to iron it out now, so as to avoid people like Sata going to radio stations and announcing he is the candidate. Moreover the constitution only allows for one president so that decision should be made soon. They both cant lead Zambia at the same time, and the issue here is that it seems no one is backing down, not even HH.
the issue for plot one will be trick and the pact has to do a good job to award the deserving person or else stones and fists will fly.
Sata during the VOA interview was right tho the tone of his voice was betraying. Thats how he speaks and he must be understood just like that. A Selemani echoed his words well with clarity and nobody is speaking against it. Siimply because Sata hanged up the phone does not mean he is medioca. For those who do not know that the Chinese brought prisoners to come and build infrastructure in Zambia- research. The crew was stationed on the flats by the show grounds way back in 1987. Stop and listen people do not complain and Sata knows what he talking about and do not be quick judging him. He spoke in his own capacity and never attributed that to PF or UNPD.
this pact will stamble b4 2011! it wont wrk the leaders will fight
Excerpts from Zambia’s seasoned political analyst i have just read today is spot on when he says and i quote:
“In Politics, the worst thing is to trap members for long in a valley of uncertainty on the fundamental issue of “leadership and political power framework” in view of the challenges a political marriages of convenience create. Voters align with leadership that is clear, historically risk-adjusted, measured across a broad spectrum of criteria and with a record of holding best practices and building upon them. When these norms are missing in party politics, members become disillusioned and susceptible in the political arena” Quote BM.
They can/should both stand, the winner will appoint the loosing collegue as vice. trying to pick on either will break the pact.
SATA for president, this is not sobibor.and if there are some small hearts who think comrade sata will ride on the tonga vote the better start nursing your ulcers.goodness is that the thick skinned man is going for his fourth consecutive defeat.
Experience is the best teacher. Here is MMD,Major Robbie Chizhyuka and indeed experienced analysts being vindicated. This PACT is a fraud marriage to nowhere. Its a circus of two sore losers.
HH and Sata should not take their supporters for granted. They can not make them support the pact just because their leaders want them to. If HH is stupid enough to believe that Sata will step aside after 5 years to let him be president then he does not deserve the presidency ever! Sata the same man who wanted Chiluba to stay for an unconstitutional third term is now expected to vacate plot 1 after just one term! What powers would HH have to compel Sata to resign the presidency?
Journey to no where with PACT
“that evolve its politics around insults and hatred”. Quote BM
“is incongruous with national interest, evident development, peace and voters” quote BM
“in kitchen sink politics of personal attacks and insults on the incumbent. No effort to articulate issues that would help reverse the trend of voter apathy and overcome wide scale poverty among Zambians. Voters are finding themselves without an alternative while facing a tough choice in decision 2011 between “democracy and national disintegration” Quote BM
“Like never before we have centrists, populists who are armed with their usual utopia, opportunists and some reckless tribal cabal preoccupied with interest of their clans and needlessly assassinating the character of a seating President ignoring the fact that republican presidency is not only a symbol of unity, but national institution a country cannot afford to destroy” Quote BM.
Its impossible for either of the pact leaders to give way to the other for 2011. So the wisest way to sort it is firstly, get both to stand, then get image builders (posssibly from the US ) to portray this as a well planned strategy. The 2 can then campaign for themselves and for each other when they are in second gear….
I tend to wonder when people are talking about who should stand for presidency. Thats is not an issue on who is to stand, the first thing that should come to your mind is there was a memorandum of understanding that was signed between the two leaders. Do you think both of them could sign something in favour of the other or just mere compromise?. It must have been something fair from both sides. Thats why they are even working together and its not an issue to them. This man Chizuka has been a problem and if y memory serves me right he was expelled or suspended from UPND bacause what he says is useless. He is basically a rebel from UPND just like the rebel PF MP’s. We have even heard from the man in the council who belongs to UPND that the PF leaders must have been misquoted.
“why the prevalent perversion as if Zambia is not Greater than anyone of us with individual needs or voters are without issues that need public office leadership? Looking at how competitive Politics is degenerating into cynicism and Pull Him Down wanton theater instead of propagating issues of nation bearing. Surely, democracy has been misunderstood ” Quote BM.
“In many mature democracies, political campaigns articulate issues of public bearing on which citizens can comparatively make informed decisions and politicians convert them into their voters based on what citizens come to learn and appreciate from the campaign. Politics of centering the stamp on insults as if Zambians are perverted lot with a national passion for insults has no political dividend” Quote BM.
*****S *****S AND MORE *****S
PEOPLE u might as well rally behind RB why the hell would i want a burnt out 5 time loser with no educational background to be my president………. for the embarassment please get out of here. Oh ya and what a 35 YEAR OLD who has had no experience running his own household to be my president who hardly has a backbone to speak out, or put to the table anything new…….. HELL NO. Zambians get off your coke or whatever ur sniffing on this is a counrty we are talking about and not a bloddy circus this is not Zimbabwe alright. Lets rally behind a president that is of substance and experience, someone who can be both our father and our teacher believe me voting for RB will not be a mistake, he will WIN AGAIN AND HE WILL BE THE BEST PRESIDENT OF ZAMBIA.
Its Marriage to nowhere because they fail on all benchmarks below:
“Voters align with leadership that is clear, historically risk-adjusted, measured across a broad spectrum of criteria and with a record of holding best practices and building upon them. When these norms are missing in party politics, members become disillusioned and susceptible in the political arena” Quote BM.
Vanity, vanity, vanity its a vanity show.
Oh boy is this marriage possible. Can HH and the UPND community accept Sata as president or can Sata and PF accept HH to president oh boy how is it going to work. Well we all that the PACT is the way to go in order to kick MMD out. Somebody advice on a workable solution.
Well obviously Sata will be the candidate. He brought the larger population to this pact so there is no way we will see him playing second fiddle unless he is mad. However, he should learn how to behave as President you just dont walk out from an interview. There are more civilised ways of showing that your interviewer is crap! King Cobra stop acting like a Kaponya because you will obviously be the next president.
Come to think of it this story is from the Zambia Daily Mail. I think it is not a true story because the State media wants to divide the pact as usual.
W@t the heck & f**k is this Major Aggrivated Robbery Ch*** talkin bout.Luv to see you suck Kobra’s sh*t in 2011.Majah Muthaf**** or Let me call you Mr. Bob Dole, you too God damned to understand tha way tha game is told. You gotta make a change. Its time for us as a people to start making some changes, lets change the way we live, and lets change the way we treat each other. You see the old way wasn’t working for us Zedians, to do what we gotta do to survive.Suck ma ****kkk.
Can anyone tell me where i can watch Mr Sata’s botched interview with Shaka ssali. I am told he threw a tantrum and hung up the phone in the most uncivilised manner possible. Please i want to watch to see for myself.
Major Chizyuka leetollle full. thata why its a PACT because both HH and SATA cannot command support from all povinces mambala iwe. On China he does not oppose investment but stealing of raw material which we give them at less market value, the controversy is adding value to raw materials before they can be exported. For your information when these raw materials leave zambia money do not come back to zambia fo re-investment ukufwa umutwe iwe *****.
lets wait and see ..if sata wins HH will be thrown out and the pact will no longer be together..please believe me..sata is a snake ..king cobra..he was with kk he turned againest him was with chiluba turned
againest him ..he need help from LEVY pretended to be a good friend ..so BA HH very young in politics being used ..HH open your eyes ..sata is a king cobra ..go to his office and see
Chizyuka should keep quiet this was the reason for him to be expelled. No post on the MMD and its gang of wools and jackals.Mind you the MMD has regrouped to ransack the wealth of Zambians
for all those insulting chizuka, you are exhibiting the same traits as the hooligan of a leader that you follow.you know what chizuka is saying is true, and the truth hurts.if you have any wisdom solve your impending problem of presidency
Sata really disappointed every well-minded Zambian and PACT follower that VOA iterview. We have seen the signs in the man’s propensity not to uphold the constitution (both that of Zambia and that of his own party). We have seen the man’s failure to even articulate simple issues in the public and internatonal forum. Sata has outlived his “sale by” date. Let’s look to others that are much more progresive for change, rather than recycling the same old expired chaps!
when chizuka told you to sort out the foundation upon which the pact should be formed you quickly expelled him.where is it now barely two months now others like sata are declaring publicly that they are the candidate. kakoma you think you can unsettle sata from top seat then you and hh are jokers.
# 38 AISHA, Mundala walasa thats exactly the point Mr Sata want people to see about this Chinese investors, Sata is not against the chinese investors but his call is asking the chinese to add value to raw materials before they take them to their country and leave with nothing, Chinese if they are true investors they should add manfacturing industeries in Zambia which will process this same raw materials as opposed to digging our copper and take it to their country china.
Don’t panic boys! plenty of time.. we are going to announce our choice next november, when we have had atleast 12 mmd MPS JOINING THE PACT. I can’t wait.. this rb will be left alone!!
#42 you are have sumed it up all .I wish those blind followers of this self centred thief can see this .Satana is a liability to the country .There is no way that the Chainese will stay in the country if Satana became president ,later on buy copper from Zambia the effects will be catatrophic within three months of Satana ‘s rule ,if fact pipo will overthrow him .So lets not waste time on this grade two school leaver,he’s a hazard.
Sata for President? hhhhhmmmm….well, he is popular but not the best there is. HH is smart but not very popular….its a tricky one. #39, I agree with you entirely
Iam scared! Sata must let the young man HH run for plot 1.
Either HH or Sata Zambia will be fine. What we want is root out MMD becoz they have over sayed, 20 years is too much for a multi- party system.
Mr Kakoma, when is your ‘national governing council’ sitting? i have a message for them; DO NOT WASTE TIME THINKING YOU WILL COME UP WITH A CANDIDATE. This issue ,if you are realistic enough, you will know is a non-starter even before you table it. Please stop thinking you will ever ‘agree’
It’s a shame that Zambians have gotten used to embarrassment through what I may call useless experience. How can we have a president who is followed by South African police over a US$ 27, 000 which was confiscated from him when he was a minister without port folio in Chiluba’s Government. This man is a devil indeed, and un ethical by nature. I do not want to talk of his local atrocities because they are too numerous to mention. In London he wanted to cheat about his passport that a Chinese store it not untill camera reviewed the truth about him. Really I cannot have such a president. Why should we always be having the worste as if we are cursed from the president to the national team such as people like Mbesuma who are so weak and tired to play in the national team. Wake up…
Zambians can have a good president if they can bury their diferences and forcus on development to improve the standards of living for our own people. Senior citizens such us KK, Chiluba, Micheal Sata and others should use their experience to help the president lead the country properly. These people made their mistakes and at the sametime scored some successes in their leadership, hence they should use their mistakes as stepping stones to build others and their successes to inspires. In zambia people with intergrity are runing away from politics because of trading insults. Experience is important in everything, but it needs to be good experience and not useless and cruelity in nature.
Sata is naturally a bad leader and nothing can change him in his old age, as they say you cannot change the spot of a Zebra. All zambians know that Sata’s leadership was full of failure, therefore why should we bring the same weaknesses back to haunt us. Please Zambians this experience we want is not usefull.
Things Fall Apart
Why can’t Sata join KK to do humanitarian work or better still be an advisor to the Government. He can earn more respect that fighting for presidency. This man failed his own family and has divorced four women, which really confirms his poor leadership. His children are all the time caught in drug trafficking by the DEC. If he cannot lead his country well how can he lead a nation with it’s different cultures. Even the bible says to be a an elder or deaon you need to be able to provide leadership to your children first thats when you can lead the church. Does it mean all these woment were bad and he was the most perfect one.
The ball is in the Pact’s court. At this time victory is in sight for the pact. However, the most devisive issue will be the presidential candidate. The way I see it, the pact can learn something from Mandela. Sata can win the election for the pact and set the agender during the first term after which he can step down for the capable HH. Am sure this was the initial arrangement unless someone has become greedy. This will put the leadership of the pact to test.
Pure! you somehow give me an impression that you are an under 18 with a computer access. No offense meant, take time to look at Sata’s perfomance record and history, then you can then suggest that he can stand aside while Zambians are put to shame. Anyway you’ll grow up to understand except that then great leaders like Sata will be fewer.
Ba Sata too much chamba, i didnt like the way he behaved on straight talk africa interview
The PACT, it seems was not founded on truth, do not turn your artillery on me, bloggers. Somehow, though too early to conclude, it is apparent that both HH and Sata are not ready to let go, one for the other. This is scaring, Rupiah will start jumping up and down like a cat. Let unity and common sense prevail, one to give way to the other and help change things in this country, otherwise we shall forever be in this “foools paradise” of MMD.
58, shaniko ka link, though I saw it, I failed to watch, failed to open MP4. We seem to be in the same chalo, I want to see how he behaved.
#60 Go to politics category. The link is still there. Be prepared to be embarrassed. You would want any Zambian on an international forum to represent Zambia well and you want to feel proud at the end of the day regardless of their political affiliation and I would have been proud of Mr Sata if he had delivered because on the international stage there is no ruling or opposition party. We are all Zambians, but Mr Sata really came short on this one and the joke is on all of us Zambians for allowing such a retard to rise to the level of Top Opposition leader. Surely MMD needs better opposition and not what is on the table today. I hope the opposition clean up this mess.
All of you who want to rush the pact just want it to fail and give phoolish MMD an advantage. Sata and HH are fully aware of the MMD manouvres. George Kunda on Radio Phenix expressed worry on the imagined divisions and confusions in the PACT- can a man with 6 senses believe this wag wash from Georgie boy?
Both Mrs Sata & Hakainde should help Zambia by demanding for the release of Ms Mary Musiyalike who in in prison in China. This should be don on humaritian grounds. We understand that the Zambian lady was carrying cocaine without her knowledge into China and was arrested on arrival. Please use your political power to let her come home. Our relationships with China should not just in trade or business but human rights too. Zambians must demand for the release of Mary Musiyalike.,
#61 I really support your intellectual thinking. These are best ideas that may lead Zambia to development. Cheers my brother
Wishful thinking on the part of the MMD. Their hour has surely come!
Let the best man be the next pact president and to lead Zedians
I bet some of these bloggers talking ill of Sata’s comments on Straight Talk Africa may have not heard the full version which is accessed when you click on the audio or video links below the one which directly opens the audio where Sata hanged up the line because he was angry. But having heard the Ethiopian and South African callers’ comments, which were all in support of Sata, this gave me a wider picture as to how China is being percieved by the people on the ground. Imagine chinamen opening utuntemba mu Jorburg sure and then you call satas neck? think twice before a truckload of fecal matter from china lands on your faces
Whoever is chosen we will vote for as long as it is not mmd.
What can i say, the majority have spoken. VIVA PACT.
It seems HH has acumilated a following on the blog. I dont blame you for supporting the younger man, I am also ashamed of Sata’s behaviour on Straight Talk. As much as people may try to cover for him, you know if you conduct yourself in a certain manner, even if you have a point your message will not be heard. I think for those condemning Sata their worry is similar to mine, what kind of leader is he, who cannot allow others to express their views. History has shown Sata has no tolerance, and this program exposed his lack of humility and ability to expose his intellectual capabilities publicly. His tendacies are more dictatatorial.I similarly want change, but fear for the change we want in Sata. Kakoma, are you sure Sata will adhere to your decision if he is not chosen as leader of the…
The Chinese economy has grown tenfold in a mere three decades. In 2008, amidst the widening global financial crisis, China’s Gross domestic product (GDP) surged by an admirable 9 percent year-on-year topping US$4.4216 trillion and consolidating its position as the third largest economy in the world. Concurrently, China is rapidly becoming an important source of outward foreign direct investment (OFDI). Starting from virtually no OFDI in 1979, the initial year of China’s open door policy, China has accumulated over US$ 90 billion of OFDI. China’s OFDI flow and stock now stand as the 4th and 6th largest, respectively, among developing countries.
At a time when Western OFDI into Zambia and other developing countries has but dried out, it would be S.T.U.P.I.D.I.T.Y of a suicidal order for Sata to adopt such an *****ic and antagonistic stance towards Chinese investment. If indeed he thinks it is bad for this country, what options has he got to replace it, Taiwan? ? If not, what plan has he got to tailor it in a way that it is beneficial to Zambia, a big ZERO! Even if he did, he hasn’t told anyone about it and by any misfortune he is elected, they will pack their bags and quit Zambia leaving millions purgatorized overnight.
This is the most interesting time. Seeing that both are power hungry and would like to take the top job. When one will be president, the other will automatically become the Vice I guess.
Did you guys listen to Kunda’s triviality, state of nervousness and arrogance on phoenics. Really Kunda is a political wreck and he is ultimately inexperienced. No wonder he is just appointed and Solwezi Central went to the opposition, the guy can not elabolately appeal to the electorate. Its clear that this pact has sent shivers down Kunda and RB’s spines. Right now this pact should learn to treat this merge as an egg. Let the one man picked learn to be humble.
Caution: Mind the way you guys in the pact trade. The political wolves in the MMD will stop at nothing to cause havoc
His vile monkey theatrics are only going to peril millions of innocent lives out there; the man has no clue about how international economics work. The only place Zambia is headed with Sata is his homeland – HELL. We are all aware and it was news in the Taiwanese/ Chinese Mainland newspapers that in 2008 Sata was forwarded millions of US$ by the government of now imprisoned former Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian in order to change diplomatic recognition from Beijing to its renegade province of Taiwan. The man is a satanic power hungry and thieving lumpen who will sale the country for a song as long as his pockets are lined up. He will be worse than Mugabe, Idi Amin Mobutu and Bokassa put together. Our nation is at a crossroads, Chiwa needs to be destroyed.
Kunda’s immature arrogance sucks lol !!!! Go pact go! Boot out these merciless wolves out plot 1
As for HH, I even wonder why people talk of him as a potential candidate for president. He is a two times loser and during his first try, he rounded up support from UNIP and FDD but still miserably failed. During the last presidential by elections, his cut at the polls was even further reduced. I do not know whether Tongas understand the meaning of “diminished returns” but I will put it in simple terms to them: “At his peak, VJ was for the right reasons well known, handsome and could bed any woman he wanted. However, these days, all women know him but all for the wrong reasons and none would risk bedding him for obvious reason”. Now, HH has tried twice and failed twice. The reason he is failing is the obvious tribal stench that catapulted him from obscurity to the apex of UPND…
how can a normal person support sata for president? people lets stop being foolish. whether sata is your relative or you have something to benefit when he becomes president ..face it this old man is not the right material for president. if the pact adopts sata i would age HH and upnd to move on their own and leave the pact rather than helping this old map destroy our country if sata is pact president and HH stays on i will vote for RB
how can a normal person support sata for president? people lets stop being foolish. whether sata is your relative or you have something to benefit when he becomes president ..face it this old man is not the right material for president. if the pact adopts sata i would urge HH and upnd to move on their own and leave the pact rather than helping this old map destroy our country if sata is pact president and HH stays on i will vote for RB
Besides, it takes more to be president of Zambia than just being a chairman of a few SIDO companies stolen from ZPA, a stinking tribal stench nauseating all outside Tongaland in addition to being a lousy and boring public speaker easily outwitted by a semi-illiterate 73 year old former Northern Rhodesia police constable with a debilitating heart condition and foul mouth wedded to alarmist politics. In short, HH is young but he is undeniably damaged goods. For the pact to win, I will put my bet on them co-opting Fred M’Membe or Magande to be their candidate.
Magande for PACT candidate……YES WE CAN!
Viva PACT. whoever will represent the PACT will win. MMD is leaving in 2011
RB will be a lonely figure just before 2011 elections. Just wait and see. MMD is full of vultures, ka. He will never know what hit him or at what point in his Presidency he lost his mates. By the time he opens his eyes, the only people standing with him will be Thandiwe, Temwani and his twin, His sons and most likely George Kunda. And maybe, just maybe, another sibbling to Temwani!
Dr KK once arranged a marriage between PF and UPND. Mr Sata walked away because it was not on his terms. Now he is the rider and UPND is the horse. Sata is galloping to victory. Is it not interesting that the many bloggers here who are enthusiastic about the Pact are PF suppporters? Where is Heee heee heee? Is he happy to have a ‘grade 7’ as his President now? The only hope that HH has is that Mr Sata’s coronaries will clog up suddenly between now and 2011!
If Sata is not know in UPND strongholds then teh PACT is failing there. They should educate the followers in strongholds of both camps, You cant say we are sharing while you hold on to yours. this will undo the PACT.
It many be advisable for teh PACT to pick a presidential candidate now whilst there is enough time to win over those who will be disappointed that Sat or HH is not picked. If they leave this to the end, it may cost the PACt dearly.
From the look of things, Sata wants to be president. HH may accept being under Sata. But will staunch UPND be satisfied with this?
UK-Zed Observer
That is exactly what Sata’s ploy is. His followers are die-hard and they will never vote for HH. But it is Sata who will be sold to the UPND areas by the pact. Come 2011, there will be no pact and Sata will have pinched some voters from HH. But, here is the conundrum: Those who will be unhappy with Sata in the pact piping HH, will turn to RB and once again RB will win. The pact is the best thing for MMD since sliced bread! Unless of course, Sata is no longer in the equation. Sata cannot win over new voters. His support base is static.
#61, I have just heard the interview! Though I usually differ with you mostly in your opinions, I agree on this score, Sata made a foool of himself. Give HH a chance, please we have a problem here bloggers, whether we like it or not, Sata is not the material we need, period! If we take this unreasonable line, this PACT is going to tumble and crack, big time. As a reasonable Zambian, I will start looking who the next MMD president is going to be after their convention, certainly not Kanitundila!
Sata is just duping his followers. He has found a way of duping peoples money.Keep been dupped you guys coz you enjoy to be duped. You have not yet seen the surprises of this cobra.A cobra does not appreciate reasoning. All pact guys you are headed for a serious shock.MMD is again headed for another victory come 2011 you will be SHOCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If MMD know that SATA is going to be president for the PACT then they will just waite for the day of filing nominations and then include the degree issue and that will be end of the PACT and MMD will win again because it will not be easy to put HH within 30 minutes as replacement.PLEASE MARK MY WORDS
If the pact wins, HH will be thrown out of government,Sata doesn’t care. Sata is not the best man and the people of Zambia have shown that by not voting him into power. I think we need HH, we need fresh Blood to run our country. We are tired of these grandpas and the use of their outdated knowledge and theories of running the country. Lets move with time.

Awe shuwa, balatampa ukutintana nomba line….chikwati cha pa mseu….
There is a mole in the Pact. Sata and HH must start watching every step they take. Someone is trying to bore the Pact from within. At this point, they should both not respond to this nonsense. Sad part is that our leaders to not engage advisers even at early stages. You can not lead a nation or a party without political advisers. Look at what Palin did, she went rogue not following McCain advisers, where did it take them? LOST. If one of these two Sata or HH go rogue, that will be the end of the Pact. The mole will have succeeded.
#74, 76 I am still trying to figure out your allegiance. All along I thought you were a Pactist? Like you have stated, I also seriously doubt the Pact’s chances under either of the two leaders given their lack of principle.
