Cagey Zambia Shackle Preying Eyes

Share

Zambia trained behind closed doors for a second day running in Lusaka as Herve Renard declared the whole idea good of the team.

Renard and his 16-member team have been reclusive and chosen to hold its training sessions at a private school in Luburma away from the praying eyes of reporters and curious fans.

“It is perfect, the concentration has to be good,” Renard said as he raced out of the double-locked LICEF pitch in Lusaka.

Even the security guard at LICEF school has been given instructions not to let the media in.

Instructions include vivid description of each reporter to the security man and organization they represent with a warning for them not to breach the second and final gate that gains access to the pitch that is shielded away from sight by the LICEF school hall.

Even team manager Solly Pandor was cagey on the phone as to the true whereabouts of the team and listed Barclays Sports Complex as a probable venue Zambia was holding its training session on Tuesday morning.

The only semblance of the national team’s presence from a distance of the second gate inside the LICEF campus is the team bus, Renard’s car and the characteristic screams and shouts in Bemba of players obviously in action on the pitch.

At least the reporter managed to catch a glimpse of midfielder Isaac Chansa waving in the team bus as they raced back to the team hotel for lunch.

Meanwhile, the team breaks camp tomorrow and regroups on
Boxing Day for departure for South Africa, where Renard says another closed door training session will be the order of the day.

The team will be joined by the rest of the foreign-based call-ups in Johannesburg during the New Year period.

  1. Hahah doing a runner now!

  3. Dont be that negative…we know we are not that good at football but its important to have a positive view of things sometimes.Dont think that these boys also like loosing, its only that the situation is beyond their control…lets give them a chance and our moral support…we will comment after the africa cup of nations is over..amen and good luck for zambia

  4. I fancy our chances against Tunisia & Gabon but i honestly think Cameroun will wack us but anyway lets hope for the best & good luck Zambia.

  5. We should not expect miracles, but if the team trains well, any team that underates us will pay the price, that includes cameroun. This will be a tournament (AFCON)full of small teams beating big teams.

  6. Our team is not 2 bad in midfield & defence but what we lack are quality & consistent strikers who are hungry for goals. The likes of Chamanga & Sakuwaha have what it takes but then like most Zambian players they lack passion & consistency which makes Zambia an unpredictable side.

  7. Ba Herve Rernard, next time you call people stupid be ready to pack. Please be polite because we pay tax and when we complain its because we are not happy. In our culture if you call people stupid without mentioning their names then you have insulted the whole village. unless you dont know this fact seize from provocking us

  8. Lets wait and see!but if a team is good, then its good no question,if our so called flag carriers of Zambia are bad, then they are bad.

  9. If your child is not as strong as your neighbor’s, you do not need to pump it in him/her day in and day out that he/she is hopeless. That will just wipe out the little confidence that may be there. Ba chipolopolo are ours whether we like them or not. Thats all we ve got. No negativity will ever help matters. If anything, they need our morale behind them. No. 4, I would be more weary of Gabon than Cameroon and Tunisia. Zambia has a poorer record with not so good teams as compared to good teams. Any team that is not careful will end up paying heavily at the hands of Chipolopolo. Go boys! Go Zambia!

  10. lets try to be honest with ourselves…..we dont have a team and first round we are heading home as usual……………just wasting our money!
