Don’t vote out MMD on grounds of overstaying-Mbulakulima

Copperbelt Minister Mwansa Mbulakulima (r)

Copperbelt Province Minister Mwansa Mbulakulima has said it was irrational for the opposition political parties to advocate for the removal of the ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) from power simply because the party has been around for many years.

ZANIS Ndola reports that Mr. Mbulakulima, who is also MMD National vice Treasurer, was speaking at Mushili Council Youth training centre during the card renewal exercise for MMD Bwanamukubwa constituency.

Mr. Mbulakulima said it was wrong for the opposition parties to want to remove the MMD from power on grounds that the ruling party has overstayed in government.

He said people should only remove a political party from government when it has failed to perform to their expectations.

“The only reason the opposition parties want us out of government is that we have overstayed, but do you divorce a woman because you have stayed with her for 20 years in marriage?” he asked.

Mr. Mbulakulima has meanwhile said there was need for the MMD members to explain the party’s developmental programmes to the public so that the people can appreciate their government.[quote]

He further said the party should be proud that the economy of the country has grown by 6 per cent this year.

He said this has been made possible because of the able leadership of President Rupiah Banda.

And speaking earlier, Bwanamukubwa Constituency Chairman Kelvin Chaumwe, said his constituency had decided to endorse President Banda as the party’s presidential candidate for the next general election.

Mr. Chaumwe said the constituency will also not allow anyone to insult the president.

  1. Mbulakulima is a danger to democracy and to his own party. He seems not to understand how the MMD used this same point to come into power in1991. It seems George Kunda’s class of Plumbers is increasing by the day. These MMD politicians are very lucky to be Zambians indeed.

  2. Mbulakulima stop being funny and silly..stop telling us hw we shld vote,we know hw we shall vote out in 2011..so start preparing land and start farming jst incase u dnt get your old job at the FAZ secretariate.this man does not seem to understand what democracy is…just like George Kunda..who always fights himself and the policies that he was praising in the late Mwanawasa’s Government..what a shame having people like Mbulakulima and George Kunda running national issues.LESA atwafwe 2011 kuya bebele..ZWAAAAAAA!

  3. mulekeni mbula mano uyu, he even has the audacity to use the analogy of a woman in marriage being divorced, what a cheap way of thinking and surely are these the MP’s we have? same dunderheads like veteran, unable to articulate how he is going to alleviate poverty levels but just busy yapping. you are packing the same way kaunda packed. you think kk alisekelamo, chila mubaba even up to now.

  4. concentrate on fattening yoursel before chigumula commences ..2011 MMD is out and chaps like you Mbulakulima will have to learn how to Kulima

  5. unless you ask your boss to remove VETERAN/Senior citizen from the Government payroll for doing nothing, you’re guareented a thrashing in 2011.

  6. Mbulabulimi, it is not that the the MMD has overstayed, it is simply useless. So kuya bebele.

  7. THE Authentic Advocates for Justice and Democracy (AAJD) has challenged Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) president, Stephen Lungu to prove his assertions that the Executive interferes with the operations of the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
AADJ general secretary, Laiford Mwanza said in a statement jointly signed with his information and publicity secretary, Josephat Changwe that Mr Lungu should resign from the helm of LAZ should he fail to prove his statement.

Josephat Changwe, you have failed to run your domestic affairs. You were even fired from ZAMTEL because you spent more time providing security to Chiluba.

  8. Many times we rash to the conclusion without thinking. After critically reading the above article, I can agree with Mr.Mwansa for saying that “People should remove a political party from running the government when it has failed to perform to their expectation”. This is the main reason why we want to change. Those who do not critically analyze issues can call him names and still miss the big point and the picture why we are calling for change.
Second. It is not just calling for change. We must change the running of the government from MMD members to whatever. We are not just calling for changing the name of the party and leave the same people in charge. MMD and all his ministers should not have part in next gov. Zambian politicians are known for changing political parties ifintu…

  9. # 13 what have they performed? these who have remained are doing nothing at all. Its time to try something else not MMD you have really failed us. We are ready for change like we did in 1991.
