Collins Mbesuma improved his chances of a 2010 Africa Cup of Nations place today when he helped Zambia to a win over Mozambique in a friendly match.
The Moroka Swallows striker scored a goal in the 73rd minute to give Zambia a 1-0 win over Mozambique in their friendly played in Johannesburg Monday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Zambia’s proposed friendly match against Malawi scheduled for January 3 has been cancelled.
Faz communications manager Erick Mwanza confirmed today that the friendly was cancelled after both local governing bodies failed to agree on a venue for the match with Malawi proposing the match be played in Blantyre while Zambia wanted it played in Johannesburg.
Mwanza said Zambia’s next confirmed friendly will be against 2010 Fifa world Cup finalists South Korea on January 9 at a venue to be announced in Johannesburg.
Meanwhile, Angolan-based midfielder Danny Hangunyu had by press time not reported for training camp in South Africa.
Team manager Solly Pandor however said almost all the foreign-based call-ups include Rainford Kalaba, Christopher Katongo plus the latter’s brother Felix have joined the team.
And the Israeli-based pair of midfielder William Njobvu and Emmanuel Mayuka joined camp Monday morning.
congrats lads, viva ntofontofo !
Mbesuma finally you are reviving yourself.Iam happy for you.Now please behave and dont shake too much.I remember how you were lambasted by the POST when you bought a truckload of shakers in Luanshya.Jus take your time, they are watching and ready to finish you.
this is encouraging, hope u can improve even further at the Afcon
Congratulations lads! Hope those small wins wont make you big headed. I am also yet to be convinced mbesuma is fit enough for Afcon. Though he has been enjoying enough playing time at swallos, he has not stamped himself as the “ntofontofo” south african fans knew him to be. His scoring form is still far from full recovery. Hopefully that goal acts as a confidence booster him.
we are not playing the likes of Mozambique in Angola, the best is to have high friendly with the teams that are in the region of our oponents. still i could not understand why HR has really kept his head hard on SInkala. the problem anyway is the porous FAZ who are afraid of HR. what more with Erick MWanza coming up in open to tell the nation that HRhas all the poweres. who told him that Zambia National Team is for HR? Boot lickers indeed. to me as long as HR remains indiscipline, Zambia is going for a holiday once more in ANGOLA and we shall come back fastre than we are leaving. Am of an idea that the teams that will qaulify in our group will be dependent on how many goals they will score against ZAMBIA. this is my thought. it happned in the past and it will happne again. ZAmbian 4ever
# 5 . Bwezani think. No good team wants to play Zambia. They would rather player other stronger teams. As long as we keep being eliminated early at big tournaments even the likes of Mozambique will not be available.
# 5. be real my friend, which big team do you think can play you of all countries. at our current standard, mozambique is the best . in fact we were even lucky to have had a friendly with Ghana during the qualifiers. Thank God for a team like Mozambique, our standard is sycheles don’t overrate yourself.
coglats to chipolopolo boys.
but Mozambique is at the afcon so what do you people mean by condemning the game, what if we meet them in the quarters? dont just talk think things through. we still need andrew at all costs
well done lads , keep winning just maybe ur fifa ranking will improve thereafter the so called big teams will be interested to play u matches . At the moment b4 AFCON ,any team for preps is good enough bcoz its all about working on strategy .Keep it simple 2 matches is ok not 3 which can lead to fatigue .Even the mighty Ivorians have 2 games with tanzania u know , they are keeping it simple bcoz the road is tough in angola ,the players need all the energy they can reserve now . Good luck against the koreans .
Thoz who have watched Mozambique recently will tell you that they are no longer the small team that we used to humiliate,i watched them give Nigeria a hard time in Lagos in a game that T.B Joshua prophecied would be a tough game…So congrats Lads though i feel FAZ could have organised 1 or 2 friendlies against a north and west African team goin by the compositionn of our group @ AFCON.Go Zambia Go…
Congrats Lads…Mozambique have come out of age thats why they are at AFCON..I would have loved us to play West African or North African opponents going by the composition of our group..South Korea well, a benfit of doubt..!! GO Zambia GO..
Congrats Collins ‘Yama soya’ Mbesuma for coming back in form. Just continue “RUNING AWAY” every morning at least 10 Kilometers and when you come back make sure “YOU LIFT HEAVY METALS” and avoid amasamba mbata when you visit your Home town
Not too bad lads well done. For the usual critics look at cameroon they have choose to camp in kenya
where by the lads beat Kenya Two Nil at there home ground.Idont know of late how Tunisia are doing but chances are the lads will pull to the next round.
Faz is littered with very dishonest people. I know people are trying to be proffessional but at this rate Zambia is going nowhere.
zad go go zambia.I can rest assure you that good things are yet to come. Please lets support our team zambia.Yes there are mistakes in the selection of the team but i think one man can not destroy the whole team.Viva Kalusha.Critics please give kalusha bwalya a chance.Let him prove himself that he is the right man in that job.and indeed he is.We are yet to see football at the community level and school levels next year.Viva Mwanza and Kalusha.
Iam still not impressed with the outcome of the game. I will not congratulate the chipolopolo boys for now. Zambians stop pretending. A build up to the finals Zambia can only score through the seemingly finished Mbesuma. A lone goal for that matter in 90 minutes against mozambique? Please. Its pretty serious and pathetic. The coach has been with the time for too long to find and sharpen the strikers alas this kid and his cliques has completely failed. we don’t just give blind support. Herve does not understand that Zambians need the goes not just participations. Herve, Mwanza, Munaile, Chilemena and former great Kalu suck!!!!
If Zambia does not learn to find the net
viva chipolopolo viva mbesuma!!
Does anyone know where we can the Cup of Nations on the net?
oops! Does anyone know where we can watch the Cup of Nations on the net?
