Boxing supporters in Ndola have advised national boxing heavy weight champion Francis “Galagata” Zulu to consider fighting a foreign boxer to challenge his championship.
ZANIS Ndola reports that Zulu’s supporters were responding to cries by the champion that he would soon resign due to lack of challengers for his title.
Michael Mwala said there was need for the Zambian boxing champion to look for opponents from outside the country since he was claiming that no one was challenging him in the country.
Mwala said it was true that a good boxer needed to fight at least four fights in a year.
Another supporter, Joseph Kapembwa, said the Boxing Council of Zambia should take Zulu’s complaint seriously because he was the national champion who needed to prove his championship to the country.
Kapembwa said the council should give Zulu similar support as it gave to female boxer Ester Phiri.
One of the daily newspapers today quoted the national heavy weight champion as threatening to resign from boxing due to lack of challengers for his title.

what a joke…. the world has alot of competition to offer
overweight unfit boxers…. what a disgrace
Problem is not finding challengers but organising the fight. The pay cheque and the like. Logistics are quite poor for our country. It works for Esther because Cottan goes out of his way, wonder why, to use National Milling to sponsor her fights. Which stable does Galagata belong to? Can they organise an International fight? Look at what happened to Chingangu’s fight. Logistics were poor. The man even put up his car as collateral to organise funds.
No one wants to challenge Galagata coz he is well known 4 using juju…
Joseph no pressure Chingangu is the best boxer in da Country @ da moment,he has no competition and he can woop Galagatas ass for fun if he wanted to.Its unfortunate Govt are unwilling to sponsor such a great boxer…
Peter Cottan and Anthony Mwamba should consider taking up Chingangu under their stables coz they have what it takes to organise International maches…
they need to be on a diet and pump some iron in the gym,,,,very very overweight,
this is Malnutrition in adults
Is the guy on the right a real boxer? This is maddness he does’t look fit to me.
too old too fighty….. en what kind of a boxer withe…. a dem big belly….do somethin else!!
@6. I think Chingangu may already be under their stable. I wonder what Galagata is complaining about because, in 2006, Chingangu destroyed him in the first round and I’m sure he’ll do it again at the right price.
