Reinstate Namakando committee — VJ

Share

Politician Vernon Mwaanga

FORMER MMD national secretary, Vernon Mwaanga has advised the party’s national executive committee (NEC) to reinstate the Simasiku Namakando-led dissolved Western Province executive committee.

Mr Mwaanga said there was no way the NEC should fail to recognise the reconciliation between President Rupiah Banda and the dissolved executive committee.

He said the acting party president had taken a reconciliatory path which should be recognised and the best route to take was to reinstate the committee.

When contacted for a comment, MMD deputy national secretary, Jeff Kaande agreed with Mr Mwaanga’s advice but said NEC would have to sit and make a decision.

“I totally agree with Mr Mwaanga’s advice but what I should say is that we are just waiting for a directive as NEC and we will act.

‘‘Now that the national secretary, Dr Katele Kalumba is back, he will liaise with our party president and give the directive as to when NEC should meet to decide on that matter.

“This is not a one-man show. It is not about Jeff Kaande but it is the responsibility of the NEC. I mean, who am I to argue against the president,” Mr Kaande said.

Asked about his earlier statement that Mr Namakando ceased to be a party member after his executive committee took the party to court, Mr Kaande said such were the regulations of the MMD but that since they were made by the people, it was up to the same people to bend them.

Mr Mwaanga said it was important for the NEC to realise that the president himself had reconciled with Mr Namakando and the rest of the NEC members and follow the path the president had taken.

“Unless this is done, the party will leave itself open to acrimony. The provincial executive committee is next to the NEC and this is why I am saying the party should find a way of dealing with this issue,” he said.

He said President Banda’s stance to reconcile with Mr Namakando should not be taken as a sign of weakness but that the president had looked at a broader picture, a position he said was the best for the party and its members.

He believed that the party had the capacity to deal with various matters in an amicable way and advised senior members of the party to stop attacking each other in the Press.

Mr Mwaanga said senior members of the party should show that they were able to handle issues internally because what was currently happening did not paint a good picture to the members.

He advised MMD members not to worry about the negative statements coming from the party’s enemies because as a party in Government, the MMD had scored various successes in growing the economy, poverty reduction, agriculture, health and in education.

He said the MMD needed to manage its politics well as it prepared for the 2011 tripartite elections.

Mr Mwaanga said the policies of the MMD had won accolades from the international community which was why the party’s enemies were attacking it on a daily basis.

  1. Northern Province rejected them,North Western Province did the same and Western Province plus Lamba land has been added to the list so these guys are getting cold feet. The only province they stand a chance of winning under RB in 2011 is Eastern…

  2. These men and women seem to be media hungry so they issuing statements and counter statement. They feel by being in the press everyday is working. I do not believe anyone anymore. They are like a bunch of visionless people who are shouting form different planets. There is more enermy in MMD than the enermy outside. RB must stop this shit. It is not good for their part.

  3. Reinstating the western province will the be the best thing to do.That which needs to be done must be done quickly. So as to completely defeat the packet or I mean the pact and the opposition. The young people are passionately waiting for this great move.
#1 Know that things have changed. And that wind of change we are skillfully positioning ourselves to grab it again and again. You will be shocked all pact supporters.

  4. Just a word of caution to Mr Kaande: in as much as reconciliation is the way forward, people put in place rules to guide the ways in which we relate, as per “club” & regulate us for sanity’s sake. These rules must be followed lest we fall into Lawlessness(hope i’m not mentioning some easterner’s name here). Otherwise, go back to the party grassroots & seek their approval before abrogating their rules since (in my opinion), they are the “same people” you refered to. If not, it is good ridance for Namakando & team

  5. Mr. VJ sir, me personally am not worried about who is going to be the president my only worry is you yourself i hope and trust that this time you are not going to be used. I want to assure you that if 2011 they use you and they win God is going to deal with you and you are going to regret it. let the people of Zambia Vote for whom they want not you, God is watching your dark corners in case you think you are clever.

  6. Has anybody heard from heard from veteran and patriotic who are on a government payroll to blog and insult the intellegence of Zambians? I am just waiting for ZNBC to be bought by a Chinese firm have them to go back and work. As for VJ he is just preparing for his shameful skims but hopefully by then he will be at Leopards hill.

  7. MMD is a lawless confused party, they dont even observe there regulations. Contradictory statements are popping out from any one. After 2011 MMD will be dead and buried like UNIP.

  8. Has anybody heard from veteran and patriotic who have been on a government payroll to blog and insult Zambians intellegence I am just waiting for ZNBC to be sold to a Chinese firm and let them go back and work there see how much blogging they will do

  9. This is becoming a circus. I guess thats the problem with having some democracy in a party. The PF would surely never have such problems

  10. This man VJ only appears when elections are drawing closes. Mr. VJ this time around your tricks will not work. It will not be very easy to play your rigging game with the PACT. The impact will be too much for you to handle. Just stay away instead of puting your life at risk.

  11. I hate to say this but the deafening silence from the two seasoned bloggers,Senior Citizen,Capitalist and the other bootlikers is rather shocking,,,,either the foreign mission office from which they blog from is closed for xmass, no internet access in their shared apartment,or they are really enjoyin themselves they cant bother about LT,whatever the case they are missed

  12. Jeff Kaande, Rupiah Banda, Ronnie Shikapwasha George Mpombo, George Kunda etc are not MMD members they are just there because MMD is ruling otherwise they could be either Unip, Upnd or HP. Kaande says ‘those are the MMD laws” Can he quote us the Chapter where that law is found in MMD consititution. You will see how many of them will remain in MMD should it fail to retain power

  13. #7 I agree with you. It just shows how devided MMD is. “Movement for Multi Destruction” These hooligans must go. We don’t need them. Starting ichi chine chi RB.

  14. V.J. mudala naukula. You should now stop your crooked ways of rigging votes. If you will rigg votes any more with your state of health appearance, this will haunt you up to hail because that’s your next destination. You the Mwadia Mweka Daddy, park your katundus as you have already done with the Kanitundila family by taking them to Mundawanga garden. You should also remember to build yourself good prisons because come 2011, we are not going to spare you like you spare FTJ, but cage you together with FTJ. The first to be arrested will be George Kunda, Mike Mulongoti and Fake Reverend Shikapwasha since they don’t have immunity and then after we remove Rupiah´s immunity in Parliament, then Tandiwe will be trained as a Prison warder.

  15. #11 Actually not having senior citizen, veteran, patriotic is kind of a relief on the blog, but I agree with you I kind of miss them because from their blogging you learn how naive, stupid and blind some people can become just for the love of money. As for the embassy on Mass AVE in Wash DC it looks open it looks open I drive by everyday. I think as time get closer to election these guys are starting to have fever because they know they are going back to Zambia and work for a Chinese firm they have defended so much as the saying goes be careful of what you wish for. As for VJ I dont think is an issue or a factor any more because come 2011 he would have moved to Leopards hill, mutumbi or some site in southern province.

  16. MMD need to keep the momentum of internalizing its strength, unity and victory drive at all levels. Certainly it will never lose in 2011 for many fundamental reasons if the realignment can continue like this. It has the most reliable party predisposition to fall back on. Systematically stay on top of issues and strategy while rattling hard the enemies who in reaction get trapped in their own insults centered politics in tabloids without a country wide strategy. Keep the successful dedicated approach of multi-level responsibility. Keep the many leaders and technocrats driving development and only selected few assigned to daily politicking as provocation political machinists for diversion that trap the inimical heads in insults.

  17. #11 See I told you the Embassy on Mass AVE is open and veteran is back what the heck. But iwe veteran wachilamo please be real

  18. Look at GK’s steadfast provocation on the PACT leaderlessness. It has rattled Satan himself in reaction. He is indignantly brazing with insults below a national leader standard all directed on GK and then GK evokes party functionaries to gear up for 2011 when the leadership issue is getting delicately explosive and sensitive. Meanwhile RB is growing the touch with national constituency canvassing and does not see or read the insulting centered tabloid like the major voting constituency around the country.

  19. 10, leave VJ alone. Just organise your pact if you think that it is possible to do so. That rigging thing is a myth for consumption by ignorant people. Do you honestly believe that VJ can rig elections? Remember that VJ was with Sata in UNIP and MMD. Has Sata ever told you how rigging is done? Sata is simply not state presidential material, that is why he is a perpetual loser. For your comfort though, Sata will continue to come out second in presidential elections as long as he lives.

  20. DR KENNETH Kaunda has said that former defence minister George Mpombo has been barking like anything at President Rupiah Banda.

Mr Kenneth David Buchizya “Mwiza Mabucibuci” Kaunda, it is better to have a man who barks than one who keeps his tail between his legs especially in a politically and economically hostile environment like ours. Moreover, RB is your bululu through Mama Betty, so you see things differently.

  21. Actually the so called pact between PF and UPND is an exercise of futility. Practically it would be very difficult for any political party to unseat the ruling MMD, especially now that it is very strong past the polarization years of 2001 and 2006 when the party had politics of ending up with a 29% President. No doubt President Rupiah Banda will perform to greater heights and many voting constituencies are realizing this fact. The so called pact’s focus is to remove MMD as its core business without national agenda for the country. Such is failed politics.MMD is up to the challenge and is certainly folding its hands or sitting idle because the party is very much electifying the grassroots.

  22. I we veteran by the time you come to your senses it will be too late and you will be in Zambia working in a chinesse mine as propaganda PR for a dime a day

  23. President Banda is aware that a few Zambians are disillusioned and deadly scared that MMD may falter only to risk the most stable country to fall in the hands of dysfunctional bitter megalomaniac opportunists in the PF-UPND pact. Like many patriotic Zambians he knows that this will not happen because the MMD has a bigger pact to make with the Zambian people.

  24. This VJ is here again becoz he knows that the elections are around the corner, I personally hate the devil in this man.

  25. This is why RB says and I quote him, “I want my fellow political actors, organisers of this political party, to go from door to door and convince those who are not with us why they should join us. We want to unite our country and only a strong ruling class can do so. I don’t want to hear from my political party that ‘this group of people is against us, that group of people is against us, this one is against us,” Banda said in November.”They must have a reason for being against you and it’s your duty to go and convince them that they are wrong to be against you,” the President added.

  26. Any smart Zambian is grounded with the facts that the future of the so called pact is bleak and purely academic in existence because “it has been formed out of desperation for power by the two tribal and power hungry political party misleading men.The pact is an implosive marriage of convenience and it is a matter of months now if not weeks before it implodes in its disastrous divorce, Yes the two misleading men of the pact have no plans for national development or unity, but their interest was to get into government to settle their heavy foreign contracted debts like Sata with Taiwanese Government and HH apartheid South Africans.

  27. ‘He advised MMD members not to worry about the negative statements coming from the party’s enemies because as a party in Government, the MMD had scored various successes in growing the economy, poverty reduction, agriculture, health and in education.’
Are you sure VJ you believe in this statement ,if you truely believe in this stay away from fixing elections and retire.Every time we are nearing an election you pop up from nowhere. If truely MMD has brought development to zambia test it against the people ‘s will by holding free and fair elections.Development speaks for itself by more votes instead of this cheap propaganda you using.!!!!!!!!!!

  28. In # 25 i meant to say”MMD is up to the challenge and is certainly “not”folding its hands or sitting idle because the party is very much electifying the grassroots”.

  29. #24, I concur with you on your Kaunda comments. It seems now that the campaign is on not only VJ is panicking but Kaunda as well because he wants his brother-in-law Rupiah to be another Wa mu yayaya. Kaunda says Mpombo is barking at Rupiah and that his language is not acceptable. This former president seems to have forgotten that during his autocratic 27- year dictatorship he used to call Zambians STUPID *****S and I wonder, was this insulting language acceptable?

  30. Good afternoon bloggers

I’m really fed up of observing the confusion within MMD so I’m just reading your comments today. #16 Old man, you cant say “A..” and then stop there…what is it that made you ask that question? #16 & #18 are also waiting anxiously…

  31. Bloggers, I wonder if you have observed that someone, and I’m sure he’s not the only one on LT, is in the habit of creating different IDs and then posting diverse comments. This is an ethical problem concerning the anonymity of the internet; not only does it confuse others but the deceit would run through your own everyday life as well. I think it is a sully thing to do and I wonder why LT Webmaster has failed to stop it? I also dont see anything nice about it because I see no problem in identifying myself and saying what I have to say… without camouflage!

  32. Mr Veteran # 25,28,31 & 33 you are in America so u have no idea whats happening on the ground here, our rural folks used to be easily cheated by the MMD but now they have all waken up.They have spoken in KASAMA and they have spoken in SOLWEZI and they continue speaking in WESTERN P & LAMBALAND. Come 2011 it will be bye bye MMD unless RB who i believe should be your bululu voluntarily steps down, but knowing the bootlickers they will neva let him do so for fear of losing their jobs.

  33. 34. #14 and #16, There was nothing that happened at the Airport, all what they were doing was a rehearsal of an emergency drill. In short they were just practicing for a plane crash emergency at the airport and how they emergency team could respond to that event. They normally do this after two years.

  35. African child. Kasama actually went to the opposition in 2006. so the only parliamentary loss in the sense is Solwezi. As for western and Lamba land ( as you call it, which actually has a very small population of voters. ) Are you sure they will vote for the against MMd. If they do, who do you think they will vote for ?

  36. Whatever differences, we are one Zambian family. Even the differences between political parties should not be based on hatred but on competing ways to develop Zambia and her people. Anything other than that is selfish and voters will be foolish to vote for such individuals or political parties. Differences within policyical parties should be resolved, otherwise a house divided cannot stand – and certainly cannot rule Zambia effectively. The PACT, MMD etc should encourage themselves to reconcile within themselves. There’s so much acrimony within parties, a sign of ego, pride and self service. Who wants to entrust Zambia in such hands?

  37. African Child,
In a mature democracy as ours, your right to post an opinion is respected. We do not inhibit free speech if with an element of responsibility whether with substance or not. Allow to lecture you that “assumption is the lowest level of knowledge”. Yes I’m here in the US but certainly better earth-wired to the ground around the country. In a networked world I’m a real time patriot ever ahead of many even some journalist by all dimension. You will be shocked that I have physically traveled the whole country and visited all Chief palaces and health centers in all provinces and districts. Know that your so called PACT leaders are too busy evolving around the tabloid spewing insults on RB who doesn’t even read or see their tabloid.

  38. African Child,
Tell us when your so called PACT misleading men last reached out to voters in Kalengwa,Mutanda, Kashiba, Chipoma, kasomeno,Kabunda, Matonchi, Kapushi, Kalabo, Sailunga, Chavuma,Tembwe,Ndungu,Muyombe,Lumimba,Mwense, Ndubeni,Chief Mushili’s Chileshe area, Kapundu, Milenge, Mwense or Nchelenge to mention but a few. These people all they see and hear from is RB and District Commissioners who visit them all are on ZNBC news bulletin day in and out taking development. Voters have no heart for tabloid insults nor know what animal a PACT is. If you think insulting in the tabloid is a game changer, I say dream on.

  39. We are bringing the whole western to the pact through the UPND. Actually, western province, North-western and even part of southern (Livingstone) voted for MMD in the last election because they thought Magande will be the next party president for 2011, from the MMD promises of 2008 campaign. Whether you reinstate Namakando and his friends or not, it will not make any difference. UPND has re-gained their position in these areas. Advise, if you want to bring back these areas to MMD, just put their Magande as presidential candidate for 2011. People are now well infromed they do not want to be cheated, they know people of substance to vote for.

  40. Zambia a mature democracy???. Why cant people be honest for once, our democracy is still in its infancy, and of late it has become like a still born child. What ever your political affiliations, there needs to be some objectivity in our discussions, otherwise some of the things being said by some of the commentators are typical of those in a communist state where you uphold the party line regardless of what is at play on the ground.
We have a country that is in desperate need for well informed, articulate, visionary, nation proud leadership and that is not self serving and yet you have people who are proud of mediocrity and satisfied with the status quo on both sides. We cant keep selling ourselves short, self criticism should be part of growing up and creating a better Zambia for all.

  41. In a mature democracy as ours, the right of individuals to post an opinion is respected and protected. We do not inhibit free speech that has element of responsibility regardless of its baselessness in context. This is why all mature patriotic Zambian in solidarity with MMD don’t waste time on none issue based blog entries because they have no bearing on the big thing which is Zambia. We would ruther stay unwavering to the finish line of MMD victory against enemies of the country than waste our time on irrelevant obstructionists. In the same vein let me lecture to PF thugs that “assumption is evidence of lowest level of knowledge”.This is why you see a sub 2 school drop out is entering VOA forums insulting the world because of inferioty complex.NRDC poultry certicate Lubinda insulting…

  42. The Angolan state-owned oil company, Sonangol, has signed two initial oilfield deals in Iraq.

The two, the Qayara and Najmah oilfields, are in Nineveh province, known as one of the most dangerous regions of the country.
State owned company, just like the many Chinese company investing in Zambia. This multi approach to investment should be what Zambia should be workin to achieve. Foreign investment, Zambian private investment, State owned investment and combinations from all these sectors. The country is using its oil resources for when the oil runs out and yet we are arguing about a fair taxation policy for our copper. Zambia, the animal farm of Africa. Independent for so long but has not the courage to create economic independence. The corrupt are selling us into the sewer.

  43. Given Lubinda did a diploma in Agricultural Business Management at NRDC whic has its Diplomas alidated by the University of Zambia. Lots of NRDC students have gone on to get higher degrees and hold very important positions not only in Zambia but even in the western world.Chance Kabaghe, Dr Mutelo, Dr Mimba now a prominent veterinary surgeon running his own company in Chisamba is one such product of NRDC. Please let us not demean our contributions by demeaning other people on false grounds. Academic education is not enough. Its a combination of other things including academic education, wisdom, empathy and personal characteristics that makes for leadership.

  44. Sata who is daily dinsulting and demeaning Zambian professionals from time in memorial with a recent episode on VOA PHD panelists is a Grade 2 school drop out.Apart fromm thuggery what has he got for us to risk him with a nation of a civil and hardworking citizens? Given Lubinda his mouth piece daily insulting the intelligensia, leaders, professionals and excelled citizens is a poor Gradee NRDC Animal Husbandry Certificate holder. His Grade 12 are there for all to retrive. No where in hell can those poor Grade 12 Grades of Fiats with two 3 get him into a legimate University even if the credential evaluater is blind or compromised. That is a spark plug and unethical practice anyone would risk with to do.This is why he is daily demeaning skilled lawyers, Economists like GK and Dr.Musokotwane.

  45. # 51-Sata who is daily insulting and demeaning Zambian professionals from time in memorial with a recent episode on VOA PHD panelists is a Grade 2 school drop out with moral and leadership flaws everywhere.Lubinda with his NRDC certificate has no moral justification to be insulting and demeaning Zambian professionals in politics who are aversive to his shoving on a disoriented chap on the country’s Presidency.Do you really think RB and his Cabinet ministers stirring the country forward like Dr.Musokotwane,Dr.Eustance Kazonga, Dr.Kalombo Mwansa, Dr.Phiri,VP His Honor George Kunda,Dr.Lungwangwa, Brig.General Dr.Brian Chituwo, Hon.Mukuma, Bradford Machila,Hon.Kapembwa Simbao, Hon.Felix Mutati, Ho.Peter Daka and all Permanent secretaries can be a match to Lubinda full of Mouth diarrhea?

  47. you people dont you know that MMD can not lose ??? VJ is a big boy …talk talk the popular vote is not impotant in zambia..people will just talk ..but RB WINS 2011

  48. African child,I ask you to think before you talk.It doesn’t mean that just because someone is in America they don’t know whats on the ground.I have travelled many a time to Zambia and know exactly what is going on at home.People abroad are constantly in contact with people back home,so please don’t take other people’s views for granted, let’s respect each other’s views onhere.THANK YOU

  49. Dad ba KK be out of this(let Mpombo) express his views.Under UNIP we could not have this freedom of speech.Tamwalya tafyafula?Just keep quiet. So many things went wrong during UNIP era. Infact your should also be answerable to so many cases that you committed during your presidence.Umulandu taubola boss.Don’t bring back UNIP through RB. We r watching you.Concentrate on your AIDS programme.Zambians are not for sale. Your killed so many peolple iwe fonkonfonko. What are you telling us now.Let Mpombo speak out.You stood against frogs.

  50. Time and again i have been advising my fellow bloggers to take time to visit zed and get facts for themselves,am right now on holiday and have taken time to travel arround from southern province to northern, luapula to copperbelt and of course lusaka. I tell you there is nothing left for the MMD and there seem to be growing anger amongest the general populous over Bandas insensitivity to the general mood of the people. As i have always rated GK as the most inconsistent politician this red lipped chap is annoying everyone in this country with his barking.

  51. #53 VETERAN
Do you know why these PHDs are quiet leaving the dirty bit of fire-fight for the likes Shikapwasha and yourself.? It’s because they are in awrong camp but hey a man has to pay bills and there ain’t many jobs in Zambia for PHD holders you see.
