Kalala’ s assertions wild and unfounded – Shikapwasha

Share

Chief Government Spokesperson Lieutenant General Ronnie Shikapwasha

Chief Government Spokesperson Lieutenant Ronnie Shikapwahsa has described as wild and unfounded, assertions by former State House Special Assistant for Policy Implementation and Monitoring Jack Kalala that chiefs from Eastern province directed President Rupiah Banda to purge the late President Mwanawasa’s tribesmen from Government.

Lt. Gen. Shikapwasha told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that statements by Mr. Kalala were not true because the late President Levy Mwanawasa had a wonderful relationship with the chiefs in Eastern Province.

Lt. Gen. Shikapwasha, who is also Information and Broadcasting Services Minister, says allegations by Mr. Kalala were strange because President Banda, Vice President George Kunda and the entire cabinet worked well with the late president.

The Minister observed that Zambia as united and peaceful country did not deserve to have leaders such as Mr. Kalala, who makes statements to deceive the nation.

Lt. Gen Shikapwasha stressed that Mr. Kalala failed to contribute to the development of the country when he had an opportunity to do so adding that this is why he had resorted to making such statements.

Meanwhile Lt. Gen. Shikapwasha has urged Change Life Zambia Executive Director, Father Frank Bwalya to honor the people in authority as they are chosen by God.

Lt. Gen. Shikapwasha said it was important for Fr. Bwalya, as a clergyman, to recognize that the government which is in place has been chosen by God.

He said contrary to Fr. Bwalya’s observations, the MMD Government under the leadership of President Banda has gone ahead to provide quality leadership in the country.

Lt. Gen Shikapwasha noted that a lot of developmental progarmmes have been initiated and were progressing well while the performance of the economy has improved.

The Minister wondered why Fr. Bwalya has continued making statements against President Banda out of hatred.
He advised the Catholic Priest to show love to all the people regardless of their political affiliations.

  1. For once i agree with Ronnie (unbelievable!!!). Kalala is just barking and trying to get attention. My only problem is that any story/thing with the word “Mpezeni”…yaba, usually has some ounce of truth, pantu mudala wamukanwa sana!

  2. Ba Gen dont sheat or cheat us leaders are chosen by people not God. God forbid. I thank you that you now started working instead of listen to radio programmes during working ours

  3. Gen. this is what we need a parent who will guide the lost sheep. its seems the LPM administration was happy that nepotism was almost taking shape, not that he the late was entirely in the fore front of that but his own people. Remember the out burst and pamphlets that rocked the streets, Mwanawasa’s family tree and was banned. I have many friends who really benefited and today are denouncing MMD as a party as they feel marginalized. Lets not divide this country into little sects of ethnic groupings. We must work as a team and the more we divide ourselves the better it gets for foreigners to grab our resources as we will be busy fighting.

Ba Kalala move on mudala dont drag the nation into your frustrations. You had your chance and actually I’d love to take up the post you held (LOL).

  4. Namulambe’s comment on this matter is what would let the cat out!! Namulambe should comment on this issue period!!!

  5. No need to cry now. You want us to cry with you forgetting that the time you were enjoying ba uncle´s time eating we were watching..So even this time dont drag us into this! We love to watch. Even these easterners the time is coming. Zambian leadership…we know that wako ni wako!!!

  6. The day we all start thinking as one zambia is the day when this nation will start growing. Does it mean that we all have to have our own tribesman in state house to feel that we are Zambians.I think the answer is no. We have 72 ethinic groupings in Zambia and all can not send their own to state house. We are all Zambians BASA and this issue of aligning ourselves to tribes of our origin for power must be stoped.

  7. #8 Dont get me wrong all we need is a denial or confirmation from Namulambe. He is the one alleged to have been subjected to those ‘unpleasant utterances’. Unlike the many cadres on this blogg some of us are balanced in our views on these important national issues!!

  8. God is not a registered Zambian voter! How many times did he vote for Rupiah. Evidence ilikuti Lt colonel Rev Shikanyo!

  9. Kalala should tell us which chief said, was it mpezeni, undi etc, or is there the unlikely possibility that they all spoke at the same time. secondly, why has he been quite about it untill now. Did he want to wait untill there was a family tree sacking.

  10. Did I go to watch football in Angola on invitation by Dos Santos? How come my host didnt want me to be with him in the Presidential Box, but was with his rather cosy wife. I was no where in the crowd………no, since I was not invited as I claimed, then I was ku-Gate D equivalent and stared at the fireworks display in utter bemusement.Simply, I was not a VIP. Remember theguy before me? He also went to the G8 summit uninvited and was chased back. I was’t chased but I tucked myself in a non-descript seat in the stadium and swallowed my humble pie. I even said to myself, naine KuNdola stadium…..only it wont be as colourful an occassion as the one I was “invited”to.
When we say Zed is on auto pilot, this is exactly what we mean maguys.HE HE HEHE HE HEHE HE!!

  11. Kalala, kalala, am sorry for you because nobody told you, those “special” posts at state house come and go with presidents, any new president brings in his/her own people, thats an open act known to all.So stop crying and carry on!. Ask Richard Sakala, you think if micheal sata was president would have maintain mwanawasa’s people?? well i don’t know what you smoke, whatever it is, it does not “agree” you.

  12. Since his statements on LPM when he was in hospital in France, I have never trusted this lying Reverend. Zambians should always take whatever he says with a pinch of salt. He is now lying between his teeth that the government of Rupiah Banda was chosen by God. Perhaps by god. Looks like we back to the days of “panshi so and so, kumulu lesa.” This is a tragedy.

  13. To understand the confusion and desperation fueling irrationality and passion for tribalism in Jack Kalala, understand his lost opportunities in crime.Read the Inock Kavindele diaries:

Zambia, ABSA US$100m scam– who is involved?

On 15th August 2003, a motion to impeach President Levy Patrick Mwanawasa SC was moved in the National Assembly by UPND Chief Whip, Crispin Sibeta.Sibeta laid impeachment charges that accused Mwanawasa of corruption, nepotism and breaches of the Constitution.Rooted in the twelve allegations and twenty five counts, was one corrupt allegation that President Mwanawasa received kickbacks from an oil firm and importer of crude oil, Trans Saharan Trading (TST).

  14. MMD Vice- President and Kapompo West Member of Parliament Enoch Kavindele laid 32 documents on the table in Parliament supporting an Opposition impeachment motion against his former boss and MMD President, Levy Patrick Mwanawasa. Many thought Kavindele was suffering from a poor taste of sour grapes. He was fired three months before this motion as Republican Vice-President by Mwanawasa.Mwanawasa accused Kavindele of practising corruption.Among the documents Kavindele laid on the table were two books written by Simon Zukas and Andrew Sardanis entitled ‘’Into Exile and Back’’ and ‘’Africa- Another Side of the Coin’’.

  15. Kavindele stated that they duo raised money from many sources including Trans-Saharan Trading (TST) who gave the MMD USD100, 000.00.

Kavindele said that of this amount, USD60, 000.00 was given to Mwanawasa in person through Emmanuel Kasonde. Other amounts were given to MMD National Secretary, Newstead Zimba and to State House Principal Private Secretary; Jack Kalala who was given K20million.

  16. RB, Shika, Mlongoti, etc. were chosen by God to mislead us. God help us and # `17, please tell us more, we who were ignored by God. Leave the Lord out of it.

  17. God does not favour anybody because he created all of us. Thus I entirely agree with you # 16 that he does not possess a green NRC to endorse the RB regime. He is Almighty and beyond such acclaims. The truth is the RB govt was chosen by a minority Zambians of flesh and blood. Not God. So Squealer please leave God out of this and fight your own battles politically. Squealer will always remain Squealer.

  18. Beside the multi millions dollar Public Relations businesses MMD kept generously giving to Jack Kalala without competition, Jack Kalala who was given K20million from the Zambia, ABSA US$100m scam with Trans-Saharan Trading (TST).All these windows of scaming Zambians Kalala had under Mwanawasa are no more in this RB administration.Someone look at Jack Kalala in the post newspaper and tell if there is leadership in that chap.

  19. Its only in Africa were you can tell people that leaders are chosen by GOD, this kind of talk should come to an end if we are to develop, leaders are chosen by ELECTORATES, dont get me wrong i believe GOD.

  20. Kavindele also accused Mwanawasa and his wife Maureen of being involved in the importation of 30,000 metric tonne maize worth USD7, 350,000.00 through their ‘friend’. He stated that the going rate for maize was USD125.00 per tonne but Mwanawasa had instructed that the importer be paid USD245.00 per tonne which had resulted in an over payment of K17 Billion. (Daily Parliamentary Debates for the Second Session of the Ninth Assembly dated Friday August 15th 2003).

  21. According to today’s POST Kalala calims that Nalubambe was present when these East chief discriminated against him. Since Nalubambe was fired, why can’t he niw say the truth is what was narrated indeed did take place. Can he now spill the beans. Somebody is lying here. I have doubts about the credibility of both the MMD and the post newspaper and those running o the Post for coverage. They have their secret agenda too. I wish the Post could retain some of its past objectivity. Maybe I have just become skeptical of any Zambia messiah

  22. General Shikapwasha the Bible also clearly states that when the evil rule, people mourn. Being Christian I am grumbling. In this case though Shikas on the Kalala chap is correct do not divide our country.

  23. President Banda is a statesman way above these attention seeking noise makers. The Head of state has a national constituency to serve and deliver to development other than giving legitimacy and credibility to every armchair critics’ needlessly squeaking in acts of aberration not adding any momentum to national development.MMD has enough political machinery on the ground and on blogs to attend to political waffles instead of getting the head of state divert. Let Kalala, Mpombo, Namulambe, Sata and HH blog with activists here. RB will never waste his time giving an audience to insults and individual dreams.

  24. He stated that this importation of this K37 billion maize was done by Minister of Agriculture Mundia Sikatana despite the protestation by Finance Minister Emmanuel Kasonde, who stated that Zambia had a bumper crop and the maize importation was too expensive for millers. This contract was given to Maureen Mwanawasa’s relation Eddie Chibweshya through his South African company called Space Ages International without Sikatana allowing any tender procedures citing ‘directives from State House’.

  25. Kavindele also accused Mwanawasa of showing his corrupt tendencies as early in 1992 where he procured University of Zambia land without payments and had since built his house there.Mbita Chitala defended Mwanawasa strongly calling the impeachment charges as fictitious. He accused Kavindele of benefitting from oil and Maize transactions. He further accused Kavindele of giving illegal authority to LAMISE Investments to import 4500 metric tonnes Maize. He charged that the law would visit Kavindele for his ‘corrupt dealings’ emanating from his time whilst he held the position of Republican Vice- President.

  26. Chitala also defended the allegations that Maureen had received K700 Million government funds and used it on her private initiative in the Maureen Mwanawasa Community Initiative (MMCI) stating that the ‘’ the work of the First Lady is outstanding. Her institution was assisting vulnerable people.’’He continued that: ‘’In the first four provinces she has so far visited, namely Southern, Western, Northern and North-Western provinces, people appreciate her work.’’ He cited Choma District as a shining example of her work where she had created 166 environmental conservation women’s clubs.’’

  27. Chitala was however silent on why K700 million government funds were used for these private activities.Chitala also defended Mwanawasa for not paying Zambia National Service (ZNS) K160 million the outstanding bill of grading the road to his Teka Farm joking that ‘’the President never commanded ZNS to grade any road to his farm or do any work or project on his farm whatsoever.’’

  28. A motion to impeach Mwanawasa on charges of corruption, nepotism and violating the Constitution was defeated by a vote of 92-57.

Bob Sichinga, Edith Nawakwi, and other opposition members of parliament supported the motion. Eric Silwamba, Derrick Mbita Chitala and Dipak Patel viciously opposed the motion.Who could have believed at this early stage that Mwanawasa was corrupt and nepotistic? Who could have believed that Mwanawasa’s wife, Maureen was involved in maize importations? Who could have believed the charges against Mwanawasa or his administration especially that he had made the fight against corruption as his hall mark policy?

  29. Many characterised the impeachment motion, though serious, as attempts by Mwanawasa’s enemies to stop him from the noble cause he had embarked on of fighting corruption!

  30. TRANS SAHARAN TRADING (TST), THEY CAME, THEY STOLE, THEY LEFT!

Trans Saharan Trading obtained offices in Nangwenya Road, Lusaka in August 2001 and cited in their documents their lawyers as MNB partners (Mutembo Nchito, Nchima Nchito, Dr. Patrick Matibini and Elijah Banda).

Although ZNOC where the sole importer of crude oil in Zambia, TST anticipated that they would take ZNOC’s place.

  31. When Mwanawasa assumed office he quickly dissolved the Zambia National Oil Company (ZNOC) accusing it of insolvency and stating that it could not meet its huge liabilities. ZNOC was a parastatal, designated with the sole duty of importing crude oil to Zambia On 8th April 2002, Minister of Finance Emmanuel Kasonde announced that:‘’By a special resolution of the shareholders’ (Minister of Finance) meeting, the Zambia National Oil Company (ZNOC) has been wound up and dissolved. This action arises because of an urgent need to rationalise and streamline the supply of crude oil to Zambia to maintain a permanent and sustainable supply of petroleum products to Zambia.’’

  32. Earlier Minister of Energy Kaunda Lembalemba had informed the nation that INDENI and TotalFinaElf would take over the role of ZNOC. He announced that an interim tender had been awarded to the two firms to import 180,000 metric tonnes of crude oil. TOTAL held 50% shareholding in INDENI.

He however emphasised that this contract was a short term measure in the wake of the ‘’collapse of ZNOC’’.

Treasury documents showed that ZNOC owed ZANACO USD45million and USD20MILLION to Standard Chartered Bank. The total debt burden of ZNOC was estimated to be in excess of USD100 million.

  33. #13, Dumbwiza:

You probably don’t believe what THE POST writes or Carry’s in their paper, but since Kalala has been using THE POST to make these allegations, I urge you to read today’s (or yesterday’s) POST. There is an article on their website where Kalala answers back these chiefs. He does detail exactly what took place, where the meeting was held, who was present, and what was said. He also details what happened thereafter at a State House meeting when Namulambe complained about what was said by the chiefs to RB while on tour together in Eastern Province. Go read it for yourself.

Anyway, tribalism is very s.t.u.p.d and retrogressive. KK understood this very well, and I hope RB and subsequent presidents can work very hard and resist indulging in this vice—-IT IS DANGEROUS!!

  34. Thanks #41,Yambayamba. However if you read the post story, Namulambe appears best placed to have spoken out. Kalala is simply reporting what he presumably heard from Namulambe, any chance of distortions or even fabrication? Namulambes only concerns were about how that lambas wanted government to continue implementing the ‘legacy’. I think he missed the opportunity to speak out, i see no reason why he then instruvted Kalala to speak on his behalf after he was fired.

  35. maybe we must admit that tribalism is african or zambian, because all these people are educated people, yet tribe is all its about

  36. #30 Senior Citizen,
I am beginning to think that your praises of Rupiah are not genuine, unless you are so brainwashed that you require urgent counselling. I wonder what tune you will be singing after 2011 because your man will be back at his farm.

  37. I would like to advice Mr Kalala that he has no moral rights nor principles thr reason being he could not say what he is saying while he worked at state house. He was going to be listened to then than now. You do not need to wait until you loose your job to expose the wrong things. Zambia does not need that but developmental debates. The ‘Mpombo approach’ is irretrogressive. Lets talkabout real issues affecting the Zambian people and how to solve them.

  38. The problem with us Zambians is we are happy with our situation..Basically we have no leaders..PERIOD.. HH is young but lost.Idont care if a person’s tonga, bemba, lozi, ngoni even european.. I wanna feed my children, educate them n give them a good life.Is it there in Zambia.Half of us here don’t even live in Zambia n thats wrong..We need new ideas n new leadership not these washed up people running politics in Zambia..Anyway good luck to Chipolopolo 2moro.I luv Zambia..

  39. OFFTOPIC
There are ten oil producing countries in Africa why can’t we buy oil directly from them and refine it at indeni? That would reduce the cost of petrol and in turn reduce the cost of living for all Zambians!.

  40. Kalala and others from your minority tribe in Zambia ,please be advised that for Mwanawasa to be president of Zambia he was voted for particularly by four provinces ,which were Central Eastern ,North Western and Western province.Apart from N/Westestern and Central provinces where you have pockets of Lamba people,so when the pipo of these provinces voted for LMP they did not look at his tribe but his calibre to deliver and when you were appointed not elected we do not know the creteria used by the late to pick you.RB found you wanting and gave you the boot. Please my Lamba brothers if you think you are been marginalised too much form your own political party like Mazoka did for Tongas and Sata for Bembas .we are just tired of you chaps complaining everydayWhy do think you are untouchable?

  41. George Mpombo is responsible for all this rubbish coming from his fellow tribesmate ,i wonder what type of a leader he is .Gentle politics is not a pensionable job it is a social contract, period.Days are gone in Zambia where certain pipo felt that they will rule till they dropped dead. They are so many cappable and competent Zambians who can also do specially designed jobs like Kalala’s one .Bwana Kalala can you tell us an of your achievements you made in your job ,apart from driving those 4X4 and changing your wardrobe to designer suits. No wonder you are bitter chaps because no one misses you but you miss the job because you’ve lost out on the massive benefits which went with your feel good job.Join Sata if you want or HH.Or and grow amagaladeni kwi Lamba there is moni also.

  42. But Mwanawasa was also anaza….the man had turned GRZ into a subsidiary of TEKA FARMS. Yes lets call a spade a spade. We all know that the wife held him by the fimofimo and although he showed the public that he was a tough man(ichibumba)…the man was nothing but a weak man at home and the woman dictated who was to get what contract and which of her bululus was to get what job.Its a pity that while her relatives were all flying or driving, the president’s own mother was using PSVs to get around…Kalala pls spare us !

  43. which God chose u iwe…??don’t put God Almighty in this messy govt..we ve had enough of you and i think its high time u shut ur ugly mouth with that chi nose up!!the bishop is right..Kalala is very rite and time will tell..

  44. People, we are just wasting time debating the issue. LPM was also a tribalist- the first thing he did was to get rid of Richard Sakala as Press Asst. RB is doing the same. Perhaps FTJ inspite his appetite for women and fancy clothes was less tribal than these two, I dont know.

  45. I thnk namulambe is being mature by keeping quite he had an observation he made it he was axed 4 it bt he hasn’t lost his integrity, bwezani shld oso learn to be mum and observe and lastly let’s not live in denial MMD kuyabebele I wld rather vote for a frog than 4 RBB

  46. My big question to the Rev is does it mean that only those in government are chosen by God? Father Bwalya and the rest are not leaders chosen by God? Every leader is chosen by God regardless of whether ruling or not.

  47. Kalala was transporting rebels against Late Laurent Kabila in the Diplomatic car when he was Consul General in DRC,FTJ ordered a James Bond 007 recall back to Ndola,2006 swindled FDD of funds in Masaiti constituency and joined his late uncle president Mwanawasa to campaign on MMD.They fired all the FTJ State house Aides annd a new team of themselves became special assistants,so why become divisive now? Where is the family tree? RB has left the family tree legacy continue in govt and the diplomatic embassies,so RB has maitained the Levy Legacy why are the Lambas complaining? RB ensured that all the appointments made by Levy were implemented, its only the people like Shaka who have lost out.Kalala, RB could not keep you at state hse, just as fired Richard Sakala.

  48. Kalala and Mpombo did not campaign for RB as president,Mpombo was made c/belt campaign manager, but he never went anywhere to campaign for RB apart from in his house in Kansenshi, not even in kafulafuta,Mpombo was to be VEEP, that is why he resigned, the trio have joined hands against RB, why dont both of you emulate Ronnie,Mbula etc who have embraced RB to develop Zambia. We are watching you we shall expose you……

  49. #61Expose the opportunists, they should hold not Zambia at ransom because of their little ego kamuya kamulima amgaladeni ba mwinsho. You were not born aide a State house bwana Kalala.Th filling those money you were been paid was tax payers moni ,the fuel you were filling those 4X4 to go visist your girlfriends was GRZ money,Kalala just wait you are too small my dear.Do not start fire which you can not stop.

  50. Kalala is telling you the trueth but because you have got interest in Bwezani you start insulting Mpombo and Kalala. 2011 is just next year, wait and see.
