Share

Zambia head into Mondays quarterfinal match against Nigeria with suspensions.

The team will be without two key players.

They are midfielders Rainford Kalaba and  including defender Kampamba Chintu.

The two all have all accumulated two yellow cards each accrued from Zambia’s Group d matches.

Monday nights kick at Tundavala stadium in Lubango will be at 21:20 Zambia time.

  1. 🙂 It is very nice to watch Zambia play knowing only a few of our people shall enjoy the game for what it is a game. Whether the team wins or loses they at the least would have put in their best. The loses from the past have garnered humbleness in our people in that this sport is nolonger the blasphemous second religion it once was. We enjoy it like we enjoy Barca play; as sports entertainment.

  2. #4 – you’re right to call them KK11 as that is their proper name. “Chipolopolo Boys” was coined by South African journalists they first time that Bafana Bafana came to play in Zambia after the end of apathied. The SA journalists heard shouts of “chipolopolo eyee” and assumed that was the name of the team. As usual, our mediocre press, did not correct the error and themselves started calling the team “Chipolopolo Boys” – the name which has stuck to this day. However, the proper name is KK11, which has now been changed, by error, to Chipolopolo Boys. What a pity our own journalists lack imagination!

  3. Fair enough # 5. Nevertheless, I think CHIPOLOPOLO is in keeping with past (1980s) and present (2010 African) football performance. KK 11 just reminds us, mostly, of how KK first liberated us from colonial rule (thank you, we’re forever grateful), but then just built tunnels at state house and forgot to develop our country. No hard feelings though, he’s now in the right place as National treasure and our Elder.

  4. We may not have those guys ,but i think we have enough extra wheels… oh i mean extra legs to make a nice replacement

  5. Heads up on a story on BBC “Herve Renard says he is keen to take charge of a top African team when his contract expires in July”. Our press, most likely the politicians just may have screwed up the best thing that happened to football in Zambia since the Gabon disaster. I think that we should have been more supportive of Kalusha, Munaile and Herve Renard from the start. Ok they messed up with the game with Ghana in London last year but I think Kalusha and Herve Renard are ambitious would like to take this team places, specifically; friendlies with European, Asian and South American teams. This is the only way Zambia can compete for major tournaments. To the government, dig deeper in you Zamtrop account and pay our footballers, and the manager make it attractive to play for Zambia!:-w

  6. I was wondering how much we will miss these three players
😕 I do not doubt that the replacements will do just fine, but I will definetly miss Kalaba’s creativity.

    thumbs up!

  7. Take courage little Zambia. It is your season. You will win against Nigeria. You are the 2010 AFCON champions. Don’t be afraid.

  8. kalaba was dope without him its like cutting off a leg of the team, zambia will limp against nigeria.Am sure we will make it though, its our time to reign in this mutha something

  9. Yaba…ika shupa ko panono mwe. Anyway, Nigeria also has their suspended players on the bench.

The better side deserves to move on… I also choose not to be emotional this time. l-)

  10. Its the super ball time new york giants jets vs the colts indiana polis. as for chipolopolo good luck as you stragle

  11. #14 ku shupa bola is our share…kaya, ni Mulungu chabe…sure! Do your best boys and God will do the rest..I cant help it but be emotional[-(

  12. yaba yazandamuka twaluza chapwa ba kaponya aba ama yellow sure…..problem they didn’t expect to get to the next round…..it was a miracle

  13. yaba yazandamuka twaluza chapwa ba kaponya aba ama yellow sure…..problem they didn’t expect to get to the next round…..it was a miracle:((:”>:o:-?:(

  14. :d

Easy guys, don’t be scared of Nigeria. Trick is Zambia should try very hard to unnerve them with an early goal. That is how you get under Nigeria’s skin. As soon as you score an early goal against them, they instinctively pull back to defend like a fortress and forget to go on the offence. That is also when they begin to be jittery and make a lot of mistakes.

That is how we in Ghana have always been able to beat them. An early goal spoils their game plan. Anyway good luck. The Black Stars would be waiting for you. This year we don’t have 6 of our top line players, they are all on the injury list so we are fielding Team B, the boys who won the World Under 20 Cup. They are still on the learning curve so there is no reason Zambia cannot beat them if they get pass Nigeria. Good…

  15. Today’s game will be very emotional, losing is very painful. I hope our boys will do their best and make us proud. We love you guys, all the best…

  16. I have been at painz to comprehend this horrible CHIPOLOPOLO name for our natinal football team. Kept wondering how it came about and made an appeal to thoze in the know to explain to no avail, now thanx to # 5 the mistry haz been laid bare. What happened to the rule that all accumulated yellow cardz are cancelled when you get to the next stage of the competition? Or simply when doez it apply? The onus iz on the Supper Eaglez, but our boiz are more determined now than ever.

  17. we are finished No Kalaba in front i feel sorry for my country to tell you the truth people christopha katongo is finished he has faild to deliver in all the games i feel like crying…..:((

  18. No. 22 Chipolopolo is not a horrible name unless you do not understand Bemba… it just means a BULLET and the origin is in the morale boosters we used to sing as fans when Zambia had Independence Stadium for a slaughter house. We used to whack, humiliate, pulverize all our opponents like a bullet piercing through flesh… And we would go Ba Zambia Iyee Ba Zambia Fipolopolo (BULLETS). As bullets we held such an impregnable record for being unbeaten at home for 14 years until 1986 when Algeria (same guys most of you underrated) snatched a 0-1 scoreline to go the the 1986 World Cup. Unless you guys are so young to remember. KK11 is a name attributed to our former President and so the moment the MMD came in, this had to change and we all know that. So CHIPOLOPOLO is not a horrible name at all

  19. wer ar u getting yo data, check it again. Felix katongo is playng ba LT. do u want us to provide u with with the Caf & Afcon rule & regulations. u can do beta pliz

  20. Who ever is playing and not playing we will beat the Nigerians. They are not the usual Nigerian team. But I can say watch out for Osaze Odemwingi.

  21. Now Zambia the only team in contetion on the south of the equator were the tornament is being held. Please lads, ensure that you reach the finals.Angola were chucked out by Ghana, hence they will switch there support to Chipolopolo boys .We cannot let this Cup cross the equator,it must remain on the south of the equator. All the best Go Zambia Go even [-x is enough to make us proudl-)

  22. But Game ya siku yalelo…niyowofya mwe…buti manje niwandani yamene azangene mutimu today??

Imwe ka green nike uniform kaja nikamushe…but kawhite colour kaja palibe pa national flag..where does it come from??? School me please!

  23. #24, So chipolopolo is a Bemba word and it means bullet, quite interesting. Just like #22, I too have always felt the name chipolopolo sounds horrible and weird. Well, it is said, ‘What’s in a name’?
The team has no choice tonight but to fire live bullets not blanks. Good luck!

  24. guyz football is football anything can happen. Each of the teams has a chance to win.let the best team win.PLEASE avoid amanoyamatako.

  25. im very nervous about this game. we are two games away from the final. If we could only just hang on.The end is so near.We need to play like we played the last few games- with heart! Renard show the boys the movie” 300″ . The human spirit has no bounds except those that God has set. Tuleya bane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. I hope our keeper doesnt mess up today and our not so capable captain manages to do something useful, not just give the ball to the opposition, please. Also no more embarassing misses, when the ball is slowly passed to our forwards in front of an open goal at least connect with the ball
