PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Mwense Member of Parliament Jacob Chongo has differed with party secretary general Wynter Kabimba’s claims that second Republican president Frederick Chiluba is engaging in active politics.
Mr Kabimba recently claimed that Dr Chiluba was engaging in active politics and the PF would seek the court’s intervention to stop the former president from accessing his terminal benefits.
But speaking in an interview in Lusaka yesterday, Mr Chongo argued that by Dr Chiluba mingling with taxi drivers and vendors on the Copperbelt, he was not in anyway involving himself in active politics.
As former president, Dr Chiluba was at liberty to comment on economic, political and social issues affecting the nation.
“I wish to disagree with the secretary general of the PF who is saying that Dr Chiluba is engaging in active politics and therefore he does not deserve his benefits, that is a lie.
Dr Chiluba is not involving himself in active politics but is it because of some good things that he did when he was president that people on the Copperbelt are following him?” Mr Chongo said.
Mr Chongo argued that in the 10 years that Dr Chiluba served as Republican president, not everything that he did was bad and it was out of the good things that he did that people on the Copperbelt and Luapula provinces were flocking to him each time he visited the two areas.
He said that it was important that Mr Kabimba and others desisted from exhibiting personal hatred against Dr Chiluba.
Mr Chongo said that it was because of the hatred for Dr Chiluba that the PF leadership was talking of seeking court redress over a straightforward issue.
“I urge the people of Zambia including Mr Kabimba to desist from hating Dr Chiluba. Some politicians have a natural hatred for this man. As much as people think that there were negative things that he did when he was in power, there were other positive things that he did and so on the Copperbelt and in Luapula, people are going to be following him,” Mr Chongo said.[quote]
He said that, in fact, Dr Chiluba was at liberty to support a party of his choice but that such did not constitute engaging himself in active politics.
During the campaigns for the 2006 elections, he said Dr Chiluba came out in the open and declared that he was supporting the PF but the leadership did not complain that the former president was engaging himself in active politics.
“Can Mr Kabimba explain what Dr Chiluba was doing in 2006 when he declared his support for the PF and why didn’t the PF condemn Dr Chiluba at that time? This is serious hypocrisy that we should not allow in politics,” Mr Chongo said.
He said the PF was worried that it was losing its popularity on the Copperbelt and Luapula provinces owing to Dr Chiluba’s seemingly soft spot for the MMD.

am tired of this
Do you have to stand for a political office in order to be considered active in politics.Somebody educate me on this one.
Do you have to stand for a political office in order to be considered active in politics? Somebody educate me on this one.
Chongo is being stupid, because he is failing to remember what Chiluba did to Dr. Kaunda over the same issue. I know Chongo and Chiluba both have DRC blood that is why he is supporting him. He is PF but is ready to support MMD, does this make sense? I know these chaps since I also come from Kashiba, Mwense Village Mukomansala so they cannot fool me.
GO TO YOU TUBE TYPE SATA SLUMS A BBC REPORTER..PLEASE WATCH THAT SHORT THIN

Chikomela Galu Kuluma Mbuzi, ka! Ka FTJ did the same to Super Ken. We know these tricks. Atekanye FTJ. Nga niba Chongo, just shut up!
Have declared my intention to sand as MP for Mwense Constituency. Seems Chongo has become a big nuisance. He should be thankful to PF for having been elected MP, else he would not have been
Can Kabimba explain why he did not complain when Chiluba was busy campaigning for Sata and PF. Remember Kitwe Freedom Park rally! This is rubbish coming from Kabimba shuold be thrown to the dust bin were it belongs. I do not think any serious person would hire Kabimba to represent him/her in court.
its a pity that some people scared of something they have not seen……………………………………..

Zambia’s New Law May Bar Opposition Leader From Presidential Polls
DOW JONES
A clause adopted by Zambia’s National Constitutional Conference requiring a presidential?candidate to have a university degree could bar the country’s main opposition leader from contesting for presidency in next year’s polls, officials said Monday.
The sinking Titanic is now afraid of the master dribbler? Mwanya ba fee colour. FTJ is back with a bang. He campaigned for you so let him campaign for Nyama Soya. It will be a double act with Super Ken, kabili they have buried the hatchet.
According to Given Lubinda, the spokesman of the Patriotic Front, Zambia’s largest opposition party, the decision of the NCC to adopt the clause means that the party’s president Michael Sata may not be eligible to stand for the highest office in the country next year because he is not a university graduate.
“The target of the new clause which is designed to fuel leadership rift in the PACT between the two partners is clearly Michael Sata, the PF party president, ” he said.
The NCC, established in 2007, is in the process of formulating a new constitution for Zambia. It is dominated by seasoned lawmakers from the ruling party who are pulling the plugs on the PACT for mounting rivalry the sooner Mr.Sata has been forced to declare his candidacy.
Sata is a strong populist critic of foreign investors entering Zambia’s copper mining sector. Last year, he narrowly lost the presidential polls to President Rupiah Banda who had just entered the political fray but since consolidating fast his political vail against the 7 years of polarisation Mwanawasa created.
Zambia’s minister of information and the chief government spokesman Ronnie Shikapwasha told state media Monday that the clause wasn’t targeting anyone but is aimed at coming up with a “quality” president.
Zambia is Africa’s largest copper producer.
:-@:-@:-@chiluba enjoys the talking.i think iam sick of this ka man
This just MMD working hard to bring down the PACT they tried with HH now they have entered the PF zone to couse confusion. Who like Kafupi on the copperbelt, is it love when they call him Lazo!!!!! when they say give us what you stole:d/:d/:d/ am from CNC and KTK so no one can cheat me at they love FTJ for what he did BUFI IT’S A BLUE LIE.
Why is that other papers they say completly diffrent from what is on LT????? is this MMD mouth peace or what?????
CHONGO WHAT IS YOUR AGENDA?
PF should grow up,why didnt they complain when the midget was supporting them in 2006.That midget is lucky Levy (MHSRIP) had a human heart
Bola nipanshi bane! can we call RB quality sure because of the degree?:o
Chiluba and Maureen are just protecting their pay packets.
They both know that if they don’t support MMD then the PACT will bring them to court once elected.
Veteran or Senile Citizen.
Stop using Sata’s wife’s name.
She hates your guts so why think she would say these things.
This is the boring end of Zambian politics, no principles, we say anything for the sake of moving masses. Kabimba when Kafupi was supporting PF you should have cautioned him then, not now that he has moved camp, you just bring out the shallowness in your argument, which could be valid, but because of past experience, you fail to move those who reason and only manage to move those that are easily blown by the wind. Kabimba you are four years late you should have made that statemnt a long time ago…and please ignore Chiluba, fearing him like this is just making him big for nothing, if he is no threat, ignore him….ohhh may be he is indeed a threat to the majority of your electral college (Kaponya’s maketeers e.tc), who may be seduced by their first love Chiluba, before Sata came along.
It appears PF is contradicting itself. Last time they said loud and clear that FTJ is not a factor in Zambian politics. Now why are they complaining about Chiluba’s visit to Copperbelt. This talk of FTJ engaging in active politics is nothing let us leave the man out. This thing of using FTJ by MMD proved unworkable in Kasama and Solwezi by elections.
We in PF made a grave mistake by allowing Chiluba to nominate people from Luapula Province to stand on the PF ticket, these are the people that have been causing confusion and undermining the PF with support & protection from the speaker of the National Assembly.
African politics are so so behind in the Modern era wash with good governance examples. Africa twalisebana lelo tatwakalabe.
If one critically analyses what Zambian politicians spend their time talking about, you realise that they do not have the people of this country at heart. It is all about self preservation. Lesa twafweni!!!!!
PF guys complain too much. They complain about everything. Typical Sata’s followers.**==
It is failure to reason to accuse PF that they accepted FTJ in 2006.This is democracy it takes a fool to reject people when they come to support you, because democtacy is about numbers. If MMD felt aggrieved that FTJ was campaining for PF why did they not invoke the law, that FTJ created in a bid to sort out KK.PF know that law and let them use it to sort out this kafupi, may be in his next life he will not make a constitution to target people. He created thids bad constitution and personally i would to see his document do justice to him.May be when he cries foul RB might learn something from that. There is nothing wrong with PF invoking the law ,go ahead kabimba show these morons that shalow policking will always backfire in the long term.
PF UPND Pact will never enter the corridors of power in State House because they have failed to give reasons why they should be voted into office. They tried last year to resurrect the spirits of 1991 but unfortunately people reminded them the conditions of 1991 are no longer existing in Zambia. Their President Sata claims he stands for the poor, that can’t be right when he is raising his campaign funds from shadowy businessmen. We shall attempt on this blog to show the people that Sata raises from money from shadowy businesses and in turn parrots whatever he is told. PF can’t say lets remove President Banda from office because he has a big nose. Surely are those the reasons you can advance as campaign strategy.
:(( thats the pact for you. No future forever. No state house. No plot one. No majority in parliament. and lastly, enjoy being in then opposition. Thats good for you.
On this issue surely the pact has no leg to stand on. They were in cahoots with Chiluba to the extent that Sata said he would drop all charges against him if elected in 2006. You cant have it both ways. #32 your argument does not make sense as you are infact admitting that PF have in the past broken the law. What this shows is the fragile nature of Zambian political relationships. The one who is your friend today, is your enemy tomorrow which I think does not bode well for the survival of the pact.
I think PF/PACT have run out of ideas, when midget campained for them in 2006, they encouraged it, now they want to silence him because he is doing the same for Alabee. Do they stand on any principles at all, or they are spineless to borrow HH’s term.
Chongo is an opotunist, who stoped at Mufulira mine at shift boss level back shifts. It supprises me that this man now can even speak like that. This was a failure in the industry who went to campain home using a highered vehicle from a fellow miner, since then this vehicle after the campains has never worked beacuase it came back damaged and the owner of this vehicle passed away later last year. Ask the closesed people that worked with this man just at shift boss level he was so bad that the only character he displayed was aguements without results. He is scared, he will have no pay if PF came to power.
Who designed this set up of rebels representing MMD on behave of the party they rebels against? Does it really make sense. Chongo aletola no bulepona-without PF this man by now Katwishi.
Zambians, please concentrate on develpomental issues, dont discuss individuals. These issues have gone to the courts of law and we must respect indegeneous institutions that we have set up. Personal hatreds should not blind us to real issues.
There is nothing that the people you are supporting are going to change. They are just a duplicate of the the existing government. Take time to reflect instead of insulting your leaders and looking at them as foolish people. They are imperfect, but there are also positive things they did. You remember walawala? You remember our roads before? What used to be where manda hill is now? What was the situation of our Zambian companies just before privatisation? May be you are too young to remember. Then continue insulting. I pity you.You need Godly wisdom.
Zambian people must demand an intelligent political debate from political leaders before the 2011 general election. Mr Sata claims to speak for the poor and this is a good thing to do – speaking for downtrodden masses. But the top leadership of the PF UPND pact are members of the international plutocracy; when South African authorities confiscated US$50,000 from Mr Sata, he said the money was for consultancy services. What about the Mezaf project? What about those offshore companies in Mauritius where a top man in the Pact sits as Director? The top leadership of the Pact has failed the morality test; they have fallen prey to financial inducements and for this reason they cannot say they represent the poor. PF UPND is completely sold out to international capitalism.
No 35 is it the PF that broke the law or it is FTJ.Chiluba came up with the law on former heads of state and their involvement in politics he broke it on his own accord and MMD did nothing about it.Now that the PF understands the law they can enforce it on chiluba in his individual capacity not as MMD.Fredrick broke the law so we can’t let him break it again and get away with it.He will not learn,he needs to learn from his past mistakes. And he claims to have influence on RB so if he is squeezed he will influenece RB to make a people driven constitution.
As Zambians we seem to be very short on memory. It is also frightening to see people vying for presidency and heading opposition parties to fall in this category. Sata, has always been a divicive person from long ago. The vigilante era (’80s – UNIP era), UPND was formed because Sata did not want Mazoka (HSRIP) to run for presidency in MMD. FDD and Heritage party are all a result of him advising Chiluba on the third term. Mwanawasa resignation as vice president was a direct result of him. His MPs have been suspended and threatened for expressing their views. He is a self imposed leader of a party. The question is, is Sata suited for this generation and era? Does he meet the technology era world? Sata is clearly riding on a popularity of a majority ignorant Zambian, sorry to say this.
Let FTJ exercise his democratic human rights. Bill Clinton campaigned for Hilary. We should not insult one another or our leaders in our criticism. These are parents and its not in our culture to do such.
