Former President Frederick Chiluba

The Forum for Progressive Politics (FPP) says former president Fredrick Chiluba has the right to support President Rupiah Banda in the 2011 general elections.

FPP Secretary General Charles Kafumbo said Dr. Chiluba, just like any other Zambian citizen, has the right to choose a candidate to support in an election.

He told ZANIS in Lusaka today that it was unfortunate that some people have decided to politicize Dr. Chiluba’s decision to rally behind Mr. Banda and support him in the 2011 elections.

Meanwhile, opposition Patriotic Front (PF) spokesperson Given Lubinda said Dr. Chiluba’s decision to support President Banda in the 2011 elections does not shake the PF-UPND pact in any way.

Mr. Lubinda said the pact would remain united and strong despite not getting support from the former president.
Recently, Dr. Chiluba resolved to support President Banda for the 2011 elections.

  1. There is nothing new which president Chiluba (Rtd) is doing today which he didn’t do for PF in 2004-2007. He visited many copperbelt towns amongst them being Chingola, Mufulira, Ndola and Kitwe. He visited Luapula and enjoyed all the endless clouds his natural life pulls.PF danced for him on every trip. So what is it that has changed today when the man of the people is merely revisiting his people? President Chiluba has registered no interest in a political office but merely reconnecting with the common man where he is coming from. Wasn’t he using his GRZ2 number plated vehicle in visiting his people around the country in 2004-2007? What is wrong if he keeps using the same ones too? And if what PF cadres in Kabimba are saying that he is inconsequential, why the hyperventilation on a…

  2. I dont see the problem here all former heads of state can take a position in the interest of the nation, even mandela supported mbeki and zuma when they where standing so what. He doesnt have to give up the benefits of being a former head of state

  3. Yes#3 you are right even Clinton and jimmy carter supported Obama. He is experienced the things he did not do when he was there in the office he will be able to tell the next president, your mind his only thinking about the fraud, let him share his political experience with the new president please people we need to look forward if we have to develop our nation.

  4. With the MMD in power, Chiluba has the right to do anything. He could steal again and nothing would happen to him.

  5. Senior Citizen where you on the posts about a Zambian woman in Edith Nawakwi being threatened with treasonable things from an Animal?

  6. :d/No # 4 Alexander thus the reason we want to think past Chiluba. There is nothing he can contribute to Zambia. In silence though he could work wonders because thatway our people do not see the evil that robbed their nation of a development channel such as Namibia, Botswana or the Seychelles. 1991 I saw a hope in a people that had got rid of a tyrant; Zambians were ready to change the climate of our young nation. That hope, people from foreign lands reading this post, viciously torn away by evil greedy men. Zambia was set back by a few named UNIP and MMD officials period. Any Zambian that does not see that requires prays immediately*-:)

  7. sata, wapya you know what the master dribbler can do.one coleague who doesn’t like ka chiluba and stays at the flats in ndola attested to me that awe chalidiba pa flat ku ndola.umu boys nachimukalipa he is wondering just how zambians think

  8. #1 at least you have accepted that the guy is campaining for RB. Yesterday people in Kalulushi were cheated that ex miners should attend a meeting at a well known guest house where their problems including titiles would be looked into only to find that the meeting was being addressed by Mr. Fredrick Chiluba who later dished out 50pins to all those who came. The exminers expected a solution to their problems such as bad pensions from ZCCM not 50pins Much as you have said that he did the same for PF, I would like to also advise Mr. Mwamba, FTJs aid to stop telling lies. Also be mindful that FTJ with held Dr. Kaunda’s benefits on account that KK was engaging in active politics. So tell us whether there is a law or not that stops a former head of state from active politics.
