Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama denied Zambia a fairy tale semifinal spot follow a dramatic quarterfinal post-match penalty shootout in Lubango on Monday. Zambia bowed out of the Africa Cup on 5-4 on post-match penalties after holding Nigeria 0-0 after 120 minutes of action.
Noah Chibvuta, Christoper Katongo, Emmanuel Mayuka and goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene all successfully took their penalties.
However, newcomer Thomas Nyirenda from Zanaco who has had an outstanding Africa Cup debut saw his penalty kick saved by Enyeama in between Mayuka and Mweene’s successfully taken spot kicks.
Nigeria advance to face Ghana in the semifinals on Thursday in Luanda. Meanwhile Nigeria were the stronger side in a first half. Nigeria pressured and dominated led by Osaze Odemwingie and midfielder Mikel Obi while defender Daniel Shittu too had a go.
Zambia had two chances the first Katongo’s header sailed wide in the 32nd minute and James Chamanga’s back flick from a Mbola cross flashed wide of goal two minutes from halftime. Zambia were the better side after the break Katongo and Mayuka harassing Nigeria who at times looked static in attack apart from Odemwingie all through until after extra time.
Zambia: Mweene, Musonda, Himoonde,Sunzu,Mbola, Nyirenda, F.Katongo, Chamanga, Njobvu, C.Katongo, J.Mulenga
Nigeria:
Enyeama, Shittu, Obasi, Kaita, Yusuf, Etumu, Echiele, Apam, Mikel, Yabuku, Odemwingie
At least we gave them a good run for it. They will never forget us :d/
well a loss is painful but reality is that zedians like eating a lot of theory. wake up from your never ending dreams and do something real, we need proper sports facilities and good investiments in the players. right now none of the zzambian players feel they are employed and if we compare the europian or even north african teams, the players not only die a little for their nations but they are also aware that futubo is their daily bread earner. Let us ensure that each player has a medical insurance, has a home to stay in, attends regular training on a well fed belly not lyonse zigolo, ala.
mulemona abanensu ama stamina, ifya pompa and still running like weightless creatures.
lets not just say we gave them a run, the nigerians were there for one purpose not to play a fair game but to…
Yaba yakosa nomba…..anyway the boys played well and the best way forward is to keep this team together so that they mesh their skills and know each others skills and lositions together. With time we will soon start reigning as champions.
The teams that we have mostly played featured high level players from European clubs and we gave them a good run for the trophy.
They tried, but in future I would like C. Katonga not to react to public critism the way he did. As soccer lovers and stake holders we will alway criticise when you play badly and rejoice when you play well. Dont be like MMD who call everything an insult.
Whats done is done. the boys played well, but i now think time has come for us and Renard to part company. He has done well for us. But nomba let him go.
Good fight boys, you made us proud, you fought a good fight, played a good game.I can stand up and proudly say to our world “I am a Zambian” . Well done boys well done. And guys please be real with yourself, we only deserve what we can handle. And Yes “Che” You are the man, I have also been bagging on this for long, lets be real we do not even have a stadium to host other teams and we want to win the world cup and Afcon, come on guys lets build infrastracture for our players to develop. These guys are wowed by the stage because they don’t see these at home.Lets keep this team, let them grow and develop together with the coach, we will be better.
We are used to stories like, yes they played well.
It is high time our playes started scoring goals.
This thing of we played well is nonsense. What is the point of kuchita bwino but no bana? We need graduates for the national team
Well…well…well… i said it…. did i hear somebody say good fight? my precious foot!… # 8.. u are spot on my brother. Tulimakula! Football is about goals people and not how well they play..
Yaba! I have said it and I will say it again….. Ala twalibelela ukulusa . :((
That’s as far as Zambia can go, ati we played very well but chashupilefye, yangu tata. 😮 this rhetoric should stop!!
Let us play well and win! not play well and lose..lyonse malilofye. And we got guts to call ourselves bullets when all we can do is shoot ourselves mumatanta. Awe nakakana [-(
Ba Moze Bigge! Ati shani ifyondemona….naimwe mwalisoma ka.:-b Awe sure nabena Mulongoti iyo yena balakapa.
We need the degree clause to also apply to the national team.No winning spirit in the team.Nigeria were literally holding on and were there for the taking, but poor finishing from our strikers.Anywhere if the coach says anything after a quarter final position was a bonus ,what did we expect we need a more experienced coach who can set higher targets for the team not just the quarter final.Good luck chipolopolo with looking for a new coach.
lol funny to know Zambians love football like Nigeria, every body is a coach they bring up their ideology. the coaches have their own tactics….. one thing for sure is African countries needs to grow in all aspect, every thing works together for good. I bet even the champions from the Nation Cup will not get to quarter final in World Cup we have raw talent but no support is a shame! we Youth Lets get involve and be proud of our Continent we are the future and the world know this….
UNFORTUNATLEY IT HAD TO END IN A PAINFUL WAY. RENARD HAS LEARNT THAT THERE ARE NO GOALS GIVEN FOR GOOD PLAY OR BETTER BALL POSSESSION. HE HAS DONE HIS PART AND IT REFLECTS THE CROP OF PLAYERS WE HAVE.
MY ADVICE TO RENARD IS FINISH YOUR CONTRATC AND MOVE ON TO ANOTHER TEAM. I KNOW YOU WILL GET SOME SYMPATHY BUT DEFINITELY THE FUTURE IS ROUGH AHEAD IF YOU INTEND TO EXTEND YOUR CONTRACT(GIVEN THE CHANCE).
ALL THE BEST AND GOOD LUCK.
SO NEAR YET SO FAR.
A lot of critics on the floor, however, we have upped our game and we really game Nigeria a play for their Money. For Herve and the Chipolopolo boys good work and we are within grasp of a major title. I hope Herve does not leave for he is doing a good job. Keep up the good spirit.
atleast Angola tried, one, they hosted the tournament amidst the so called global economical crunch while we had the opportunity before levy died. we would have used a lot of home ground had we hosted the tourney but always kulusa chabe where it matters most. its better you lose during the opening matches not pa knock out stage lyonse.
#10 Moderator, Am thinking that if i display my degrees, i can be considered to stand also!!:-?
Last night’s quarterfinal match between Zambia and Nigeria will be replayed; NO penalty shootouts!
Venue: Lubango
Time: 16:00 (Zambian Time)
Viva Afcon! Viva Chipolopolo!
Good play but we lack the instinct at the goal mouth.
we would have won that match by a wider margin.keep the team intact please.=d>:-b^:)^
Well done boys You will do better next time. Please keep the Coach and he will Perform wonders next He seems to be a good coach for Me.
The coach has to go coz his main aim was a quarter final berth for Zambia nothing else. What else would one say the result are according to his predication. The boys played well but in soccer there is always a winner and a loser. Let the Frenchman go for big teams in Africa the way he put it himself. In fact he is lucky that Zambia has enriched his cv. Soccer is about winning let him go after his contract.
Well played Zambia. Nigeria is nothing. its embarrasing that that team is representing Africa and World Cup. Very sad for Zambia indeed. we missed Kalaba in the front. we were definately the better team but as usual not good enough at the firing range.
Ba Moze, you might want to learn to spell “technical” before you start giving any advice on technical issues!
We have been to Africa Cup finals before and we have actually played in the FINAL itself on two occassions, 1974 and 1994. So what is this nonsence of targeting the Quarter Finals! The target should be LIFTING the AFRICA CUP. Anything else is failure!
Kalusha on SuperSport just before Angola 2010 said Nigeria was he favourite. So what do you expect when you meet the same time, Kalu or is it Galu & the coach both had no faith in our team going beyond 2nd Round. That is why they hugged each other like mad kids when Zambia beat Gabon to go to 2nd round. To them the Journey ended there. Now Rehnard says even when you kick out Kalu he will be somewhere else not Zambia. The Chance provided him with a CV only for himself. There was serious tactical comical errors, with Nigeria 1 man down we should have scored. Not those over the bar shots I watched in dis-belief. We are Perenial failures at AFCoN games
You see,if our boys had degrees…, it would have been a ~o)
our yesterday match against zambia was the worse match nigeria ever played, we didn’t deserve the victory at all, as for the coach i think he should be removed before our world cup campaign in south african, honestly speaking, ”Amadu” doesn’t have what it takes 2 take them 2 the world cup.
Now that we are out of the AFCON. Let us plan aheard and get to work. It is no use crying over the past. We have the CHAN qualifying round in March, we get back to the AFCON qualifiers towards the end of the year. Lets keep up the spirit and aim higher. The CHAN will be very interesting as many countries are now interested. So if we have failed now let us make it next year in the CHAN. Time for planning is NOW.
only easterners are disappointing in this country the likes of RB and Nyerenda or Nyirender whichever.

baliyumfwa presure fikamba fyabo ba Nigeria, next time we need to aim high not just be satisfied by reaching the 1/4 final.EPO NAPELA
To me, zambia should have won 6-0. Its a shame the way nigeria played. We were outclassed in almost all departments. Really disgustingly disgraceful. Any way it just goes to show that the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong, nor riches to men of understanding or favour to men of skill but time and chance happens to them all. We won simply because for some reason,God decided we should win
What saddens me most is…in 45 years, we have not won any major trophy, we ve never qualified to the world cup and we have never hosted a major tournament. Another thing that hurts me most ist that war torn countries like Angola,Sudan , Rwanda even ethiopia have better stadias than us, who have enjoyed peace. South Africa, straight from apatheid hosted the Africa cup and won it. pa zambia all we know is, banateya mushe! shame!
#23 Nachale, thats a nice one. There is one online called, “Degree in Accurate shooting!”.:-w
#29 Mpangula,[-x, whatever crimes Kalu may have committed, please don’t call him Galu. Lets give him abit of ^:)^.
Those boys have no experience as such you dont expect them to play four matches in a row and expect them to play better. They simply got tired, the coach should have made substitution up ffont.
why did he not use mbesuma, Singuluma and chansa.
Tefyo boma penalty filya eyo-kwati chimpombwa!:o:o:o:o:o:o
Coach did very well and indeed what is wrong is our wrong political vision less we have. The coach used what we have from the clubs. We need to look at a bigger picture. Remove, visionless MMD and then you will see things picking up.
# 8 walasa.Nigeria was at its weakest point & all we can say is we played well,if we did then where are the results?:o:o:o:o We need to wake up from this self deception
Is Nyerenda related to RB?
BRAVO, THE COPPER BULLETS.
#22, Bulasa, “smart”, i like. “smart Ar.se”, i don’t!!:-w
The Chipolopolo guys played well, its just that in football there is always a winner and loser, otherwise the team played very well and i would like to advise my fellow Zambians not to insult the coach or great Kalu, give them a credit, they did their best and they are not the ones who were in the pitch.:o:-\”:-w
#42 Chipata girl, Correct, but why should it always be us to lose?:-?
Its amazing how people are praising the PE teacher and his great Galu. These guys have just ripped us off. First they set a low bar and cross it and then they want us to believe they are football geniuses. How mediocre can you really get? The PE teacher even has the guts to say He wants to coach a top African team. How about making Zambia a top quality team? This is so sickening. I will be happy to see FAZ and it PE teacher’s back. Zambia could have done better or even won this tournament.
#39…No! but what else do you expect from easterners other than, sleeping, globe trotting, marrying younger wives and falling to score penalties??? :-w
#41, Ba Moze, YOU are my ROLE MODEL and I meant no offence.
I apologize if I have offended you in any way.
^:)^ ^:)^
Uyu mutumbuka Nyirenda, how did H.R pick on you@-)the chap wasshievering even before he took the spot kick.It seemed as if it was his first time uku chaya ka penalty.
It’s now known the Pharaohs will retain the ~o) again.Come to the talk of infrustructure,pa Zed there is misplaced priorities. How can one decide to demolish the Grandstand at Independence stadium before funds are ready?first govt should have made funds available and soon after demolishing the old structure the construction works should have began. This speaks volumes about our team if those in the fore front can not believe in themselves and think other teams can do better than our own team.
#46 Bulasa, I too, wish to extend my apologies. I guess i over reacted. :)>-
why r we zambians haters?? if we had left AFCON in the 1st round it would have been worse for Herve and the boys..
Zambia lacked goals which is mostly the usual case.No hungry strikers at all, what should be done about this kanshi?? twali tuka aka kote?I think we need to see witch doctor…
#45 katalina [-x, No Tribalism on the blog. Yashani iyo. Am an Eastener. Not happy:-w
Y r we zambians haters?? Nothing less than the cup would do?? whatever herve and the boys can do is not enough unless the bring the cup.. Shame on u zambians who think u can coach and score from sofas, bar stools and screens.. Put yo money where yo mouth is and step up for the team.. then we wil see how easy it will be for u to get the cups.. Africa and World cup… am so upset.. Who even thought we would get to the quarter finals.. CHIPOLOPOLO u hav done me proud:)>- go even further next time…
well done boys, balichepa the Big
#37 u are spot on my brother- the garbage that simata simata and his bunch pick from the ground as players are what HR works with and its unfortunate that our local coaches can’t spot quality players in raw form that is why the chief local coach ,at this time and age,he still thinks of the likes of Sichone, sinkala etc.it is clear that our chief local coach is trapped in the past and clearly has no new players that his bunch of coaches can claim to have unearthed in the recent past hence the cry for the old folks to come back in the team.
#52 MMK, you are right, nothing other than a cup would do. And am not ashamed to demand it. AFCON, we have been there before no big deal, AFCON Quarter Final we have been there before , no big deal, AFCON Semi-Final, we have been there before , no big deal, AFCON Final, we have been there before, infact twice, so no big deal either. But the Cup, after over 45 years of Independence we have not won and we want a team that will take us there and also to the world cup. Nothing less. How are we going to boast to our parents that our generation of footballers was great when we have people rejoicing over a quarter final achievement as though they have won the cup. Our parents achieved that and we have not bettered on their success and that is a shame. This mediocrity ought to end, really.
The problem is that Zambians have just become addicted to being second best or perennial losers. How do you celebrated being number 8 in Africa like you are number one. That beat my mind. We need to demand first place. That is the only way we can archive it. If you set your target to be a loser , you will surely archive it.
# 28 Kayz Says
I Quote “only easterners are disappointing in this country the likes of RB and Nyerenda or Nyirender whichever”.
Well Well I will put the record straight. 1st our border is wide and porous so people like RB & Nyirenda are not “Easterners” but from Gwada in Zimbabwe and Malawi respectively. Thats why the mess.
All FAZ members should have degrees to make informed decisions and understand the technical aspects and dynamism of football as a sport, both administratively and on the pitch! Otherwise big up to the boys and all the supporters of our beautiful game of football. It was an uphill battle for the boys considering that the boys were trying to outdo their Coach, whose goal and objective was just the quarters, and the FAZ President who had rated them far below Nigeria! Once again, well done! GRZ and other stakeholders, give us the infrastructure and all that goes with it! We got a future in the young boys! Otherwise we love our Country Zambia! Don’t we all?
Zedian pliz na economy efyo mufililwa bunda bwama negatives nama degrees kwati niba lungwangwa.Although we lost honourably you are suppose to work on your weaknesses not ukukondema.
Soccer fan no.7 what we are happy about is the progress we are making and not that we are content with how we performed as Zambia and this is the most crucial time for us because i can see us completely distroying this foundation(like we destroyed Dag and Independence) in the hope that we will build a much more better side.As a Zambian i know very well that the coach is going, some fool will suggest disbanding the team altogether etc and before long we will be back to square one.THAT IS ZAMBIA FOR YOU!!!
LT should stop this nonsnse of tribalism all over, pipo are victimising easterners why? Its well known that some of you pipo are selfish of your selfs thinking you are the super tribe,we are all equal and zambians, no name calling. You even blog in your venaculer we tolarate you coz we are reasonable.LT should delete such humiliating blogs and reminder that our official language is english, Can we blog constractively coz we have so many visitors on this web site not only from zambia.lets be issue based. My Nigerian friend just asked me to interprete some of these blogs coz he did not understand. Just like you are not serious so is our soccer standards will be.
Nine Chale, meine Liebe Bruder, uli kwi?
Abana balala; balala! High blood pressure ukudropa!:((
Utugumbuli twalilia pa Zambeziland till the last three minutes of the game. Oh…Tata Lesa! Ala tacaweme. :((
Maboyz bweleniko… this is how far you can go. We shall receive you on a green carpet.. a sign of hope for the future. Nigeria from now on will respect Zambeziland like they did in 1994.[-(
Jay-Z is a fan of big arses- big fan of Arsenal
Had we won the cup then those complaining here would “suddenly” be supportive because of the prestige it would give them. Perhaps we all need to learn to support through thick and thin. Then we can share both glory and not be brought down by defeat. Do not be surprised to see Zambian players being approached by the Premiership…every performance is watched by different people for different reasons. The boys did their country proud. The coach was so disappointed he stormed off but those are the breaks.
GOOD TEAM WORK, FANTASTIC CONNECTION, GOOD WINGERS….ZAMBIAN. I BET IT U GUYZ PLAYED FANTASTIC FOOTBALL AGAINST US, I MEAN OUTPLAYED US. You could ve won d game exept from d poor finishing from ur strikers, u had all the chances. Honestlly i didnt blv we wld win, but dat is football. Those guyz shld be allowed to grow am sure they wil get to semi final next nation’s cup. All hail ZAMBIANS…Great Super EAGLES……………
Wat we need is consistency guys! Let the coarch stay. We will not do any good by firing him. He has done better that the other coaches that we had is 14yrs atleast by taking us into quotas. Even better than Kalu. Give him another 2yrs and you will see what will happen. For me, after watching the guys in the CAN, i think we will soon become a force to reckon with. By the way it was mentioned on supersport yesterday that a lot of scouts are after our players.
#57 ala efilekaipa #61.
Iwe #61 The bottom line is the wise man from the East miscalculated and we lost!
Well dear #61 Bbola, it is time you also carefully explained to your Nigerian friend of our true rich relationships tha exist in our land. Our freedom to name issues as we see them should not be left to the interpretation of those you meet but to who you are a child of from Zambeziland! Tell him we lost the game because of the misculculation by the wise man from the East. True or False
I really dont know what a degree has to do with this and i am sure those bringing a degree here dont know what it takes to get a degree. Its not like getting the certificate you have, you work for it, you have to be good. But that was good football. **==
the boys played and i am happy with the way the zambian team played aganist the eagles
this is the way football is next time the cup is 4 zambia .

wow great news..
@-)@-)what next..?? ok ! :)]:)]:)] fone calls for a new coach..am sure he managed to achieve his goals:-??:-??quarter final berth and a bit on the side for the CV but:-w:-w:-?:-? but we need someone more adventurous , some who can in bring that decisive blow in the players to taking chances when they come so many in a game …thats what we need ! i thought **== zambia were the better side and should have won but…oooh ! how cruel penalty shoot out can be … but they played well in the tournament and i have made a good name for the team .8->8->#-o#-o:-h:-h:o):o)<:-p<:-p**==:d:-b
keep the team intact, coach included… getting the ball forward has been accomplished, defence good… Now focus training on ukutonta…. Maybe Chilu Lemba the Sharp-Shooter Bongo can help…
#45 stop your tribalisim remaks. We are all Zambians and need to respect one another. No name calling, remember the wise are from East.
Renard and Kalusha both had the same aim, to used the team as a spring board to something else. That is why you saw the P.E teacher just walk away after the defeat without consoling his players. No heart for the team at all. I can just assume he went to a quiet corner waiting for a call from ‘a high profile’ African team. And Kalu might just get that ‘high profile’ FIFA position.
Ba Mashimba think extensively and you will realise why and how i used that language.’baba’ ni pragmatics.I have realised your level. Its not bad doing linguistics.
# 67 lets sell our country to the outsiders positively not bringing cousinship all over coz outsiders dont know what you are talking about coz this is not community fm radio its worldwide for any one to read,so you better improve your language on this one.Well, as you said i ve told my nigerian friend that you were just kidding coz of tradition ties. For your own information some medias even quote your comments as official blogs when anaysing zambian soccer. To anwer your quetion its TRUE we lost but what next?Name calling or rebuilding.WACH you words. I wil be BACK 2morrow coz its night here, need to rest, please be here #67.to be continued.
the technics of the team has really improved,it seems there is understanding between players and the coach.wat a great game.keep the coach for the next 2yrs.he knws hw to identify young players.look at the way mbola played?he may go very far. lets keep the coach.our country cant afford a higher profile coach. lets forget of local coaches, they dont choose players on merit.most of them listen to the fans views, us as fans dont understand football, we watch it.keep hr, we may go to brazil in 2014

YOU HAVE A CARROT UP YOUR A.S.S
The BEST and most entertaining team of the tournament is out. The football was excellent. Well done Zambia but sorry that you gave away your victory to the Nigerians. It was all yours but you started with fear and the Nigerians took advantage. Next time believe. Next time think. Next time imagine you are the champions. Next time act as winners. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
Chipolopolo, well done .A lot of people never expected your performance to be of the standard you desplayed. Not only zambians but other countries as well including my own Kalu.Thankyou chipolopolo ,thankyou guys it was a wonderful show.Let’s keep the same spirit. One day the cup will come home.
Scouts from Europe esp. EPL, where are you? If Obi Mikel can play for Chelsea, Rainford Kalaba, Jacob Mulenga,Timothy Nyirenda are all capable of playing. Bakali abaice
Nigeria contain Zambia to proceed to the Semi-finals of AFCON is a better title of what happened yesterday. Congrats Chipolopolo and continue inspiring us true Zambia team supporterd. Let us now look for a Coach but retain HR as Physical Education trainer for the TEAM.
__
Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.
We are tired of “good play”. We want goals!
# 68, you are a sore looser, lighten up. On the other hand, if you had a degree worth as much as the paper it’s written on…:-\”
#5 I agree with you but we must not replace him with a hopeless coach because we shall lose all the gains we have made. The Nigerian goalkeeper’s save was brilliant. It can go into the books as one of the best penalty saves ever. We cant fault Nyirenda the penalty kicker.
Nachale 85 I conquer with you, we are need a light note to all this! At the end of the day we all happy with what the boys put up, everything else considered! So Ba Mashimba no. 68, take it easy and move with flow! We in it together! The degree issue is on each and every one’s lips. Some of us are not even educated, but we have embraced it by being humourous about it! On the education is the basis for development and the only way out of taking out Zambia from its economic malaise!
Enjoy and have a pleasant day! Am outta here!
Well done Zambia. We have good raw talent. All we need is to nurture it thru investment. Hopefully we can have some players come to play in UK. It will do them and us good.
Bangwele stop fighting ala. Sangalaleni chipolopolo always plays well but poor finishing. What have we done to MMD kanshi? MMD is the cause of our poor finishing coz George Kunda for the first time commented on Chipolopolo.!!!:-?:-?:-?:-?
Someone educate me please, do we have professional football in Zambia ie plyers being paid by a club like it is in developed countries? Or do players have jobs somewhere else, then just come to train and play part time for the club?
**==**==**==
we need to strengthen the local league, the government should come up with the deliberate policy to compile the investors to be supporting or sponsoring the teams in the country and improve the sport in the country.
lets talk about football and not insult our leaders.insults will take us no where.lets wait for 2011 and campaign for whoever you think is capable rather than insulting.i think the boys tried thir best zinabvuta cabe.
we have a semi -professional league in Zambia most player have day jobs , usually with the companies that supports the teams they play for.
What we need is a person like KELVIN MUTALE (MALAZA), who always hangered for goals. Renard’s job should now be to start looking for sharp, sleek and goal hungry strikers. Maybe he should try by going into the villages and look for that talent. We just need that to make the team complete
The bottom line is that Zambia lost despite playing well! Our hope and desire was for the team to win and i thought the whole purpose of the competition was to WIN and WIN and WIN the competition and return home with the trophy, not that “we played well”, “gave them a good ran for their money”, that is nonsense we want good results, win games and proceed to win the tournament, then we shall say you are a good team indeed but as things stand you have ” good name” but you have NOTHING to show for it. STOP DREAMING ZAMBIA!!!!!!!
:((:(( crying baby are all Zedians apart from my girlfriend who happens to be half zambian. Go SUPER EAGLES.
SUPEr EAGLES FOR THE CUP, We will come on tour of Zambia with the cup to show una:d:d
iwe FUTURE #95, DONT BE SO NEGATIVE! This is the best we have seen Zambia play in a very long time. There are several positives to be drawn from this tournament. I feel that we have seen a marked improvement in passing ability and more offensive patience from the team. The players have gotten the necessary exposure. In two years time, this team will be alot to contend with, they are all young. We had 16 year olds like Mbola playing well. we have a youthful talented team. I was impressed and so were many scouts. Lets look at the cup as half full. no pun intended:)
does it mean that the whole of zambia cannot produce goal scorers. Si tenzo teya nyunya bane…or sorry, i used lanuage of penalty missers……only kidding it happens. But seriously, i think faz must have a system to tap raw talent like the ZAAA have. But i think they are too selfish to allow real talent, only those that will ‘honour’ them. How many secondary school provinvcial tournaments take place and how many did the technical bench attend. how many social leagues did they go to. Have they seen small teams play? Let’s plan for the future ka…ni ma taxes yama already overtaxed zambians that they use
I will say this for the thirteenth time, HR must not coach of the national socer team whether we win the AFCON or not. Funny and good comparing Kalaba to Obi Mikel or indeed Jacob Mulenga to Drogba; our playerz may even be better and the scouts are all over them, but the dissappointing part iz that of the agents and FAZ. Football iz about putting the ball in the net by whatever meanz.
Kalu and Herve you should have influenced your players to take their chances at goal, or rather all their penalties!! seriously!!!!
lets be real about this. Big match temperament, big match mentality or whatever you may choose to name it will always be an integral part of sport
I have always said this and will keep saying it, this has to be addressed
Losing is always painful, after all nobody wants to be a loser. On a positive note though the players can head out of the competition with their heads held high. We gave the so called “big teams” a good game and I am of the view that next time round the players will be given much deserved respect (they’ve mine) in the tournament and from their peers. I was very impressed, in particular, with Mbola (16 years old, English premiership quality!), Kalaba, Ba Mweene and Chris Katongo. I hope there were European eyes watching those player. The next step is to improve on our limitations (goal scoring, exposure, technical ability, sports science), keep the manager, more money to be invested in football in Zambia and support from all Zambians-lets support our team, it’s the least we can do!
Gentlemen I can safely say finally we have a team congratulations Chipolopolo. All the best in the next games. I know you have grown from this and will put up a splendid performance next time! Now lets prepare for CHAN in March and AFCON qualifiers towards the end of the year!
iwe number 73 leave me alone
For those of you who honestly say Zambia played well but it was not our day, bravo. I know you understand football. Some of you never keep you mouths closed for unknown reasons. Some are saying we have to part with the coach, who is we?
This guy has brought back touch football which is the real Zambian football. If you can misinterpret what we all saw of the football pitch, maybe try politics. The next building block is to find strikers. The coach can never score for the team. It’s the players.
why is it that we are never lucky
Infrastructure and paying our footballers what they deserve is important. We need alot of stadiums so we can host games. have you seen the state of the independence stadium. it is shambolic iye tata!:((:((
#52 I see you see us as world beater, what do we have to show ? I mean where have we invested to expect good results. My point being, you need to put effort and infrastructure, you don’t just wake up and expect results.Build at least a stadium with modern facilities then expect to host a decent football game, the rest will follow. Just Angola over take South Africa after the WC, because they have the infrastructure and a young team to go the distance. They have demostrated the passion for the game by hosting it, not just barking as we are doing. I challenge you on this one. Show me the passion by government, FAZ and the rest.
Lets give credit where its due not lyonse ukulachita condemn. The coach has tried,at least we reached the quater finals after a long tym.Why should we always condemn our boys? They played well even if they didnt score. When did Zambia ever play so well? Tuletasha epo chiweme.
Zambia’s exit from the ongoing cup of nations is indeed sad, and more sad that Zambians are celebrating under achievement! We played 4 games, won 1, drew 1 and lost 2. My primary arithmetic gives me 25% winning rate. For me, anything less than average is way off the mark and does not call for celebrations. Let’s face it, Zambia was not taking part for the first time in this tournament, she has been there several times, wayback, actually before I and over half of Zambia’s population was born! So what is it that we can’t get right in 30 yrs or more? If we were Egyptians; yes, we could celebrate Q-Final exit because we have won the cup six times anyway-not when we don’t even know what it means to celebrate victory of the cup of nations! The coach has done his best under current…
# 109 You have picked a very good example “Egypt”. Look at how their local clubs dorminate the African Champ league. Thats a good sign that things are well, the structures are setup, infrastructure is world class, they can even host Afcon without working on their stadia. My point being, lets invest effort, time and money in this cause, we can’t just be expecting good results always, we have reached this far purely because of talent and nothing else. But talent only won’t get us anywhere. We were to hold all africa games, not afcon, we failed, come on are we serious with sports. We need brave leadership, even burkina faso has done it, Angola from war has done it …
conditions but this does not give a right to insult journalists because he actually does not have much to write home about. So Mr. Coach, give us a break, we have more serious problems to think about football development than listening to your rantings-you cannot leave for Livingstone and then when you get to Kalomo, you say I have arrived just as you cannot aim for q-final and at the same time desire to win the cup! Overall, it’s no player, no coach or any individual’s failure, it’s the country’s failure to think and do better! Zambia needs to make a decision on whether football worthwhile or not.
Stop bringing tribalism mu bola imwe…! Anyway, which borders are others talking about…in fact all Maborders are manmade…! So Nyirenda mulekeni…aziwa kutchaya bola maningi uja mfana! Tribalism “INASILA” kudala…and naborder nawo Wanasilanso kudala! IMWE NA IMWE!!!!
