Chief Ufwenuka of the Tonga people in Monze District is renting a small staff house at Charles Lwanga Teacher’s Training College due to the non availability of a palace to house him in his chiefdom.
Monze District Commissioner Emerson Machila disclosed to ZANIS in Livingstone yesterday that the Tonga Chief had no palace in his chiefdom hence the development. He said it was sad that the chief, who is the owner of the chiefdom, was homeless.
He appealed to government to consider putting up an official residence within the chiefdom.
Mr. Machila said Chief Ufwenuka’s predecessors used their family houses which have remained for the respective families after passing on.
“Each chief has had his own house where the families continue to live after a chief dies, making it difficult for the next chief to inherit the house,” he stressed.
He however disclosed that the chief’s subjects have embarked on a project to mould bricks for the construction of the chief’s house and appealed to government and well-wishers to come to the Chief’s aid.
ZANIS
Mapenzi basa! A chief with no house, its only in Zambia where u find such things.
Bloggers![-x Dont pretend! Some of you here know that this is your chief. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves. Sonkani ndalama muchite donate kuli ba chief banu. You expect the chief to even do ntwenu muka yanda akanono? Poseniko amano you Tongas. Busy condeming the Pact, yet imfumu ilelala panse, alaa!! And i suppose he has five wives, te? Awe bane, nshitemenwe.
LT, ns.hitemenwe is not an insult!!
While we are at it, where did this Chief come from?…..Tongas dont pay tributes to Chiefs, its everyman for himself!!!!!
This chief must be lazy and useless. How can he fail even to have a small Mud brick house well thatched with Grass or even tree logs. Not all cheifs have Brick and Zinc/Asbestos roofs… This simply means he is a chief who lacks village skills to survive and therefore not fit to lead his villagers
Let the subjects do something about it. Then the Govnment might come in as well. Many of us are in rented houses #2 do not pretend:x:-\”:-w:d:(
😮 what!!!! This is unbelievable…..how can a chief then inspire his subjects when he is busy begging. Get a life chief. You are a disgrace to our people. How come other chiefs before you managed to build their own houses. Simply lazy.
does the chief have a degree as well?:o);))
# 4 spot on and just what is he doing in town? :-?:-?
GUYS HIS RENTING.
The man had a respectable farm in the eastern province where he was working as a civil servant. The call of duty back home made him leave everything behind. we only hope that his subjects will build him a house at the quickest possible time.
Still not making sense because I expected this homeless chief to find a vacant palace where is supposed to conduct his business. The biggest problem is the poor type of housing units in tongaland ,which leaves much to be desired. He probably had one house by tonga standards but was blown off by the winds
It is rather unfortunate for that chief to be renting a school house. What about his subjects, maybe they are renting the classrooms. And by the way , how old his he for him not to have a house or why didnt he move into the palace his predecessor lived.
:”> Eliko bad situa ayo ba chief…am Tonga and ashamed but then again HALA BACK BADALA utano sumwini Gaanki katuyaka!
The chief is accommodated in that house because it is electrified preparation to build a palace and a morden are under way.
