The Forum for Progressive Politics (FPP) has advised all politicians and Zambians to embrace the adoption of an article by the National Constitution Conference (NCC) that allows only a person with a minimum academic qualification of a first degree from a recognized University to contest the Presidency in an election.
FPP Secretary General Charles Kafumbo says politicians need to learn and understand that the NCC adopted the article in good faith.
Mr. Kafumbo told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka that it is unfortunate that some politicians and sectors of society are not for the idea to adopt the article.
He said time would come when politicians and other people will learn and understand the importance of having a President with a degree from a recognized University.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kafumbo has advised those aspiring to contest the Presidency but without degrees to stop issuing statements on the article but instead study for a degree from any recognized University.
And Mr. Kafumbo said the FPP would continue supporting the article and other articles that would be adopted in good faith.
Recently, the NCC adopted an article that allows anyone aspiring to contest the presidency to have a degree from a recognized University.
ZANIS
we need an educated president,,to solve problems of 21 century..failure will say we need a president who acts like a chief..NO NO ..WE NEED EDUCATED PRESIDENT ..REMEMBER EDUCATION IS A KEY TO SUCCESS
#1 with due respect how do you measure a person to be educated? By the way I have a Degree full time Job and studying for my Masters but I still feel puting a close for a 1st degree or whatever degree is counter productive. Let the people be the judge,. All those with degrees are free to stand and campaign why make the race a preserve for degree holders alone?
This whole thing is targeted at one person alone Mr.Sata, if the MMD can defeat him why fear? Remember it started with age, when it caught RB they quickly removed it.So this shows the NCC is being used by the MMD. When sata said he has one, Katele kalumba was quick to say we shall investigate it. Even B4 he files in nomination papers. Lelo Ba MMD lelo.
Why is MMD so scared of mr sata? let’s wait and see what will happen next year.
You can not make a consitution to fix SATA and expect it to stand the test of time. For as long as a certain section of the people fill they are been descriminated against, it will not last but rather become a HOLLOW piece of paper which will go into the dust bin soon rather than later to pave way for a people driven constitution.
The CONSITUTION is made for the people and not people for the constitution, this you need to put at the back of your brains.
# 1, If an educated president solves problems, then what problems has RB solved with his degree? It appears to me that, this so-called “learned” and “educated” man has created more problems. What if a person has a degree in Catering or Greek Art, how is that degree going to help that person with leadership? This whole thing is a fallacy.
NUMBER 2 I HAVE A DEGREE ALSO ..SO I DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SAYING..
NUMBER 5 ..IF SOMEONE HAS ANY DEGREE IT MEANS THAT PERSON HAS DONE COUSES LIKE SOCIOLOGY AND PHYLOSOPHY, ECONOMICS AND MORE . ..IT MEANS THAT PERSON CAN REASON BETTER..THEN SATA SAID HE HAS A DEGREE SO NO PROBLEM..BESIDES THESE ARE POLITICS
this fpp thingy is just crap..we don’t need these to be given media coverage..they are misleading the masses..i have a degree as well but therir views are so cheap!
no.5 the process of acquiring a degree in whatever area of study is stringent and requires a high level of discpline, positive interaction, learning, teaching, consultation, criticking and research among many other attributes. a degree in greek whatever for example does not teach about greeks but also about history, geography, philosophy, economics and sociology before, during and after the era in question. on attainment of any qualification you have a more refined person who knows so much about their area of study but also understands that he/she does not know about other areas and will need to work with others who have other abilities. it is such attributes we want to have in our future presidents. un educated presidents trhink they know it all and tend to make it a one man show.
after reading him/her it sounds like i agree with no.7 100%. i actually wrote before i read no.7
