Kitwe prepares for SNDP

Share

Preparations for the development of the sixth national development plan (SNDP) for Kitwe district are under way.

District Commissioner (DC) MacDonald Mtine, who is also the chairperson for the district development co-ordinating committee, said district stakeholders will be meeting this week to strategize on how the sub district structures will be involved in the planning and implementation process of the SNDP.

Mr. Mtine said the planning process will incorporate the decentralization policy as a new concept that the sub district structures have to understand and embrace.

He added that the district will also review the performance of the fifth national developmental priorities drawn from the submissions that the sub district structures will make as well as what was not implemented in the previous national development plan.

The DC said the plan will consider infrastructure development in the district as one of its priorities especially the rehabilitation of roads and security officers’ accommodation.

The district SNDP once developed will be submitted as an input into the 2011/2016 development plan to the Ministry of Finance and National Planning.

  1. How can it be national when its for a district? And what happened to the fifth development plan for kitwe? We see no development whatsoever in kitwe, except a new filling station and the cascading of freedom park, the roads are pathetic to say the least.

  2. People people people what is being done about the pathetic state of our Kitwe roads?
The SNDP to say the least is absolutely meaningless. Kitwe does not deserve City Status unless something is done to improve its outlook.

  3. !!! SNDP ??
Should 6th also be part of this over amplified acronym/abbreviation?
How about 6th *F*DP (*Fimofimo* Development Plan)?

  4. Planning without the voice of the local residents is futile. Professional advise is welcome but not at the expense of the beneficiaries.
May SNDP participants not only enjoy the ‘sitting allowances but benefit the society whom they represent.

  5. People you talk about roads!! what about the buildings being erected ok ok ok am no “town planning” building expert but like every one else we know when something is not right COMPARISON Mukuba Pension Building – between ZIBSIP college and hostels sits on 4 housing plots now lets look at the ALL NEW MEGA SHOPPING COMPLEX its sits on one housing plot point MEGA SHOPPING IS FOR SHOPPERS but MUKUBA PENSION WAS FOR OFFICES come on imagine the difference in human traffic oh oh oh and then the roads ever traveled on the chibuluma road to nkana east or till it becomes central street . . . . no matter we all know something will be done come 2011 :d
