Renard has not applied for a job in Tanzania – Mwanza

National soccer team head coach Herve Renard arrives at Football House for a press briefing where he said he has not yet decided to renew his contract when it expires in May this year

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Communications Officer Erick Mwanza says it is wrong for people to assert that National Team Coach Herve Renard applied for a job in Tanzania.

Mwanza said it was unfortunate that despite the coach stating categorically that he has not held any kind of negotiations with any team, people are still speculating about his future.

He said it was important that people learn to tell the truth and not just make assumptions.

Mwanza said Renard was a forthright and honest man who he said had good communication with the country’s soccer governing body and could not do anything without consulting FAZ officials.

The FAZ Communications Officer told a press briefing in Lusaka today that there was nothing wrong with Renard been ambitious and wanting to scale up his coaching profile, saying it was within his rights to do.

He said it was normal that after putting up a splendid performance at the just ended 2010 Orange Africa cup of nations that many teams could be courting him for his services, adding that Renard had no control over that aspect.

Renard and his Assistant coach Patrice Baumelle are currently in France for a two weeks leave and are expected back into the country soon.

Mwanza disclosed that Chipolopolo assistant coach Patrice Baumelle who is also the teams physical trainer, left the country on Saturday while Head Coach Herve Renard left the country on Monday, this week.

And Mwanza has said FAZ would seek quality friendlies for the Chipolopolo boys during the international friendly games scheduled to commence on March 3.

He explained that good friendlies will help keep the team and players in good shape and give the technical bench an opportunity to access and try different players so that the team continues to improve its FIFA rankings.

Mwanza also said FAZ will do everything possible to assist Chipolopolo Midfielder Rainford Kalaba in whatever way it can for the player to join his new club, Zamalek.

He said it was important for the player’s future as well as the nation that the player is at his club and is playing.

Meanwhile, Mwanza has disclosed that the inspection of stadiums and other playing grounds on the Copperbelt have successfully been concluded and that the inspection team is now in Lusaka and would conduct the same exercise from today (Wednesday) up to Friday.

FAZ has also expressed optimism that Zambia’s envoys in this year’s Orange CAF Champions League Zanaco Football Club would put up a splendid performance against Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) of Uganda.

“As FAZ we are optimistic that Zanaco FC will do well. The team left the country in high spirit and we are sure they will post a good result against their rivals”, he said.

He called on soccer fans all over the country to rally behind the team so that the players can be motivated to focus and work hard on the pitch.

  1. Coaching job is a two way event, the coach can dump a team or the coach can be dumped. right now it looks like Renard is holding the dice, and unfortunately the nation must dance.

  2. imwe pliz! i am tired of this man! let him go! one man causing us to speculate so much! why? i have said it before! we are not packing for him! he knows where he puts his bambaz and bombasas. let him pack and go! he can actually call a taxi and it will take him to the airport! he knows how to book a ticket for his flight! he knows how to check in!
as i have said before if he wants he can leave his wife- we are not bothered:d deuces:)>-

  3. he is not a bad coach, given time i think he is the best coach for Zambia. its only natural that countries will approach him, FAZ has just got tod what it takes to keep him. Soccer is a business the earlier we realise that the better. we must not be emotional but rather be business minded and make business decision.

  4. Is this Renard guy the last coach to hold this position? If the guy wants to go, why are we busy fighting about one’s decision? The standard of coaching that we need is that which reached the final after the perishing of the team in Gabon. Why are we getting proud of reaching a quarter final? Please, there are others that coach Zambia. It seems like if he goes Zambia will never be in existence. You might be thinking it is the coach while in fact it is the crop of players that are doing everything. Probably, you never know that we might even get the best coach ever after him. Look at how much South Africa spent on the Brazilian coach, Zambia went and whacked them at home to qualify. At one time Kamalondo made people believe that only KK could lead Zambia. What happened? Same with Renard.

  5. I think we shud loan Renard to Tanzania, lets be business minded!! we are really fed up of his EGO and stories.. Have a good holiday Herve, we are processing papers for your transfer!!

  6. We have to keep Renard. He is an excellent coach. Like it or not, this guy is good at his job. It is in our best interest that we keep him.

  7. if Renard decides to go , we can not stop him but look around for another one.Who knows we may even find a better coach. And if he stays we shall demand excellence from him . Anyhow, what I think is that He should leave while his CV is still good, there is an abundance of coaches out there, we will not be stranded.

  8. Let Renard go, the fact that there is uncertain surrounding his future, this should awaken us to start looking for his replacement. He has done all he had, he has reached a plateau, he can not think any further, let us find his replacement soon so that we do not create a vacuum. Let us not dance to his tune, Zambia is a great footballing nation. Renard needs Zambia, not the other way round.

  9. I did not know Patrice is also assistant coach. Thats news to me. Look at this cquotation from the article…”Renard and his Assistant coach Patrice Baumelle are currently in France for a two weeks leave and are expected back into the country soon.

Mwanza disclosed that Chipolopolo assistant coach Patrice Baumelle who is also the teams physical trainer, left the country on Saturday while Head Coach Herve Renard left the country on Monday, this week”
IT MEANS WE HAVE TWO ASSISTANT COACHES.

  10. As much as I aprreciate soccer as a business this coach is very out spoken and must go he was a reject when Zambia gave him a chance which he seems to forget and now holding the nation ransom. Who cares if the French man leaves coaches come and go VIVA Zambia Viva Chipolopolo

  12. Genltemen we need to be very careful with what we are talking about. Don’t just let words come out of yr mouth like someone suffering from SHIKII POLOMYA…. All we need is a strong stable team, with no regular changes i.e. starting from the coaching bench to the entire team… Players also need to be serious especialy theso facing the goal mouth. I strongly challenge those saying Renard and Patrice Baumelle should go… We need them…. Look at the Egyptian coach, how long has been coach of their Team ??? Answer me…. otherwise tatwakachinje….. Kuleniko mufimitwe ba mumbwe…..

  13. I am for consistence myself and so I would rather we keep Renard he is a promising coach and I think we can go far with him. How many times are we going to change coaches so let us keep him. VIVA RENHARD!!!

  14. # 14 you are the one suffering from SHIKII POLOMYA. If you do not know how to contribute sensibly you better shut your dull mouth. Select your words properly.
