The United National Independence Party National Revival Forum (UNIP-NRF) has pledged to work with the United Party National Development-Patriotic Front (UPND-PF) pact in a bid to strengthen the opposition alliance.
UNIP-NRF Chairperson Malimba Masheke said the revival forum consulted the UPND-PF pact on the matter before deciding to work with it.
General Masheke, who disclosed the development at a press bring in Lusaka today, however pointed out that the UNIP-NRF will remain independent even as it works with the UPND-PF Pact.
He said the decision to work with the UPND-PF pact was a way of exploring means through which the forum would contribute to efforts of providing a serious alternative to good governance.
General Masheke, who is also former Prime Minister, said the UNIP-NRF decided to work with the UPND-PF because of its (pact) vision for leadership.
He emphasized that the UPND-PF pact must be guarded jealously and urged the UNIP-NRF members to remain resolute, steadfast and united in working with the pact.
And speaking at the same press briefing, UPND president Hakainde Hichilema expressed happiness at the decision by the UNIP-NRF to support and work with the pact.
Mr. Hichilema said the UNIP-NRF’s decision to work with the UPND-PF pact was the right step in the right direction.
He said there was need to work together regardless of where one is from adding that this would strengthen the relationship between the UPND-PF pact and the UNIP-NRF.
And Zambia’s former Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo Adrian Bauleni and a Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) member David Kasanga have joined the UPND.

uko,,,wapya munzi, another nightmare for Inept Kunda,as if he hasnt got enough problems already with the floods and trying to discredit the PACT at any given opportunity,,now this, awe sure
This is very serious now…!!! what have they seen in UPND through pact that every one now is joining pact through UPND. Only half hearded man can just follow PF when they know there leader has no degree which is the requirement for any one to be presidential candidate. It is up to sata to tell his supporters that he will not stand instead of misleading his people. Sata can play a very big role in this pact..!! he can still have exective powers instead of telling lies that he has two degrees,, forged one…!!!!!.
This does not scare the MMD at all. The MMD is strategizing for 2011 and is also bringing prudent economic growth in the nation. They steered the nation well during the financial crisis. The MMD is scooping the 2011 elections.
On another issue, it is interesting to note that all the people joining the pact are joining through the UPND. I wonder what that means for PF 😕
Please UPND/PF pact let sata come out strongly and show the nation his qualifications. sata has alot of support along the line of rail and can sell well for the pact..!!! instead of telling us the true about his hinden degrees and plans to show during nomination day can prove imposible to any meaningful zambian. sata please do the right thing before HH takes over your support. Just tell the Post news paper to pubishes your qualifications for free so that you maintain your support which you have through out the country….!!!!!! where are the people in PF. Tell sata to show us his degrees. we can not just keep on supporting him without knowing which lies ahead of us concerning our president..!!!!
Who do the UNIP-NRF represent other than themselves? Who are they by the way?
Like it or not, this is good news for the pact, and things will get even better. Watch and learn…
Mr Capitalist,morning boss!
I think this is not meant to scare the mmd in any way,its s strategy the PACT is using to gain more support from the grassroots, though any well meaning mmd member should get worried not scared,as for the prudent economic growth, do you think that is enough to convince someone who is living in a flooded house in kanyama or ngombe township to vote for the mmd,if thats the mmd strategy for retaining power, then they should be scared, coz the PACT so far is gaining moment, while mmd,has to deal with the likes of mpombo, magande, etc
5.. Every vote count…!!!! they might be 5 or 6 but it is something. The problem we have now is sata..!!!! This man is a crook…!!! he is failing to tell the nation about his celebrated degrees..!! we still doughting whether our leader has any qualification…!! why can he not publish his degrees…!!!!
Whether Movement for Morale Degenaration is worried or not, strategic or not, people have seen enough of them.Gone are the day when the electrolate were illuded days before general elections to vote for people with empty promises. No New Structures,no schools,no hospitals,no new roads,no new office buildings, findeco is collapsing, not even an elevator is available, just making noise on the media n opposition any goodwills expressed by any worried and caring Zambians.Supporting plunderers.Travelling all around the world.Defending wrong doings by anyone belonging to MMD.we bet you are leaving.you just get ready for your beds in prison.Decorate them for your goodness.
it is posible he has forged degrees…!!!! which will be very big problem to his party. people who are against him is his close friend like machungwa,,, kalumba,, chiluba,, and chibamba..These are people who knows sata in and out..!! he has no regnised degree from reputable university…!! The question when did he studied it..? 2. when did he graduated..? which university confered it..? Stop listerning to man..!!!! Let pact choose their president instead of wasting time with this comedian of politics.
:d Mr. Capitalist are you Nervous Mumba.
KIZITO! YOU ARE THE PEOPLE WHO ARE TOO TRIBAL AND MISSING THE POINT.IT DOESN’T MATTER WHICH ROUTE PEOPLE USE TO JOIN THE PACT,IT IS STILL THE PACT AND THEY HAVE TO FOLLOW THE RULES LAID DOWN BY THE PACT REGARDLESS OR PARTY LINES.MOST OF YOU PEOPLE DON’T EVEN UNDERSTAND WHAT IS TAKING PLACE IN ZAMBIA WITH THE PACT.THIS IS REAL LEADERSHIP WE ARE SEEING HERE BETWEEN SATA AND HH REGARDLESS OF WETHER OR NOT SATA HAS A DEGREE.STOP THINKING LIKE KIDS AND TRY TO THINK AND UNDERSTAND ISSUES.
WE HAVE SEEN THIS IN ALOT OF FOREIGN COUNTRIES WHERE PARTIES JOIN HANDS TO WIN THE MAJORITY AND RULE.SEAT BACK AND LEARN FROM WHAT YOU ARE SEEING IN ZAMBIA,AND FOR THOSE WHO THINK THAT UNIP JOINING THE PACT DOESN’T MATTER,ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT MMD IS NOW RUNNING WILD, AND SCARED.REMEMBER SATA GOT ALOT OF VOTES WITHOUT SOUTHERN NOR EASTERN PROVINCES…….DO THE MATH NOW.COME 2011 MMD IS GONE,AND ITS FOR THE BETTER.
i HOPE THE FIRST THING ON THE TABLE IS TO OPEN THE LONDON JUDGEMENT AND PUT THIS CHILUBA ISSUE TO REST….INSTEAD OF FINDING LAND FOR HIM…….THE CAN CLEAN A ROOM AT MOKOBEKO AND GIVE HIM A NEW GOVERNMENT NAME WITHOUT THE FAKE DR IN FRONT.WE ARE TIRED OF THIS LITTLE MAN.
Kizito you are not making any sense,im trying hard to read between your lines with all the spelling and grammatical errors therein, its just impossible to see you point of view,as for Sata’s qualifications, thats between him and the electoral commission when filling in nominations, none of your business,so,roll your tongue in,tuck your head between your thighs and watch the sun go down..KAABOOOOOOOM
‘Elo ya zanda nomba fye’ for MMD, ya ya ya ya! What a wasted opportunity for the Party that could have gone down in history as the Party that catapulted Zambia into the 21st century.
1991 was a year full of optimism and renewed energy in our young nation. MMD was riding high and mighty as the torch bearers of the renewed hopes and dreams of the citizenry. But alas, greed, nepotism, tribalism, thievery, corruption, mediocrity, pride, etc, took hold and the entire Party has become arrogant, visionless and a heaven for crooks and autocrats. A bunch of leaders who are only interested in self-preservation and get-rich-quick schemes at the expense of national building and unity. At the rate they are going, very few folks will miss their ineptness and hollow promises. WHAT A SHAME!
12, 15. It is sad to read what you are talking about man. am not against sata. In fact, when sata started his campaigns, in 2001, I was in the copperbelt and voted for him. am not tribal. it is only am educated.more than you can imagine…!!! you can not keep quite about such important issues about presidential candidate. I know two of you find it hard to believe that sata has no degree and you have not voted for him,, I have voted for him…!!! why can I keep thinking that he has a degree from his bedroom..!! what will happen when told by electoral commission of zambia that sata is disqualified.!! you are going to look a candidate the same day..!!!! come on man..!!! it is not between sata and elec torial commission of zambia, it is other way round…!!! sata vs supporters.
KIZITO,WHAT DO YOU UNDERSTAND BY THE TERM “PACT” YOU SERIOUSLY THINK THAT SATA’S DEGREE MATTERS WHEN THE PACT HAS HH, WHO HAS MORE THAN ONE DEGREE, THERE’S NOTHING THE MMD CAN DO TO BLOCK THE PACT.IT’S OVER FOR THE MMD.KIZITO CHECK YOUR GRAMMATICAL ERRORS BEFORE YOU JUDGE OTHERS.I HOPE GONE ARE THE DAYS WHEN WE HAD LEADERS THAT ARE RULING JUST TO ENRICH THEMSELVES,AND HAVE LEADERS THAT CAN ACTUALLY HAVE THE INTERESTS OF THE PEOPLE AT HEART.
This is the problem in zambia. you prefer other candidates than others. Even if you know this man is disqualified..!!! criminal your assessment of my comments show how bad you are in your reasoning.!!! we all like sata because he has support..more than HH..!!! he could have easily won.. MMD brought this clause just to block him and they will not let it go..!!! if they do,,they will be out,, who want to be out any way? sata must just support his partner and stop assuming miracle can happen during nomination day just like he wants to build houses in 90 days. and bring economic miracle to zambia. Only people like you can trust him that judge sakala will do him fever than his home boy rupiah banda…!!! your reasoning is a shy vancouver skeleton…!!!
Kizito,
Quote”This is the problem in zambia. you prefer other candidates than others”,this statement speaks volumes, anyway,im not a PF cader for yo own information, as CHILICHILL has plainly put it,PACT is between PF and UPND,i really dnt know what you harping about,if you know very well that Sata hasnt got a degree and you dont support him, shouldnt you be celebrating that Sata will not stand during elections, and for FFS read through your comments before you hit the submit button
Kizito It is clear to me you think that the only preson to lead the pact is Sata because you voted for him. The pact is an agreement between the two parties, now it looks like three, and it is up to the people to decide who will lead the pact. It should not matter if is Sata or HH or someone else just don’t be biased and support the pact. There is one common goal Kick MMD out of Government.
The MMD is in a typical Ostrich mode, busy burrying its urgly head in the sad while the ground under its feat is busy shifting. Zambian politics is very regionally based and even though Gen. Masheke lacks support along the line of rail, he will move multitudes Kwahae and this is no doubt a plus for the PACT. By the time Bwezani realises what is happening, the world will be gone, washala washala mwana wa Gwanda!
When he arrived in Mansa yesterday, President Banda was accompanied aboard a ZAF plane, by PF rebel members of parliament Peter Machungwa (Luapula Constituency) and Jacob Chongo (Mwense Constituency). Among those who welcomed them were PF rebel parliamentarians Elizabeth Chitika Molobeka (Kawambwa Constituency), Dr Bernard Chishya (Pambashe), Besa Chimbaka (Bahati), Joseph Kasongo (Bangweule), Ernest Mwansa (Chifunabuli), NDF president and Nchelenge parliamentarian Benjamin Mwila, Mansa trainee nurses and ZANAMA members. These Katangese MPs have no shame at all, even in prostitution, be it political or groinery, there has to be a degree of honour!
mr. Capitalist is Musaba in Canada. and hez an mmd ‘booty-licker’ wht is economic prowess whn only 400k out of 11million are in employment? minimum pay is 268k Kwacha (58 us dollars) per month! wht economic development in your stinky a.nu s is a govt. tht pays graduates 1.6m Kwacha per month and gives the same amount to NCC members as pocket money per day! wht development is in country where minors (street kids) roam the city on empty bellies! wht the f*** r u talking about Musaba??? If u r paid, ur day of reckoning is near!
Smooth criminal u just robbed punk ass Ni gga Kizito of his pride! it’s so shameful tht Kizito can claim to be Zambian and an educated one for tht matter. To my read eyes hez one those congolese who play one of us coz they bribed there stu pid makuta (congolese money) into buying a Zambian passport and thereby get a visa! Kizito u r so ignorant of every sh it thing a decent man can know. If u wanna debate with the likes of Smooth(criminal)., learn to spell check ya wrk first. if by chance u happen to know tht ; then enroll into nusery school!
“,as for the prudent economic growth, do you think that is enough to convince someone who is living in a flooded house in kanyama or ngombe township to vote for the mmd.”
Smoothcriminal #7 Greetings. Concerning your above statement above I have quoted, it should speak volumes to many when it takes an MMD controlled central govt to act on behalf of majority controlled PF councils. It simply means some councilors are not working. Why didn’t they build any drainage systems with money allocated to them? Now I don’t know whether Kanyama or Ngombe is controlled by PF, infact I don’t know who controls the two places. But this is enough evidence that the MMD works hard to address people’s problems like they are trying to do with the floods.
Mwanawakwitu #11
Not at all. I am not nervous.
All you fools are just making noise what’s the relevance of the pact when MMD has just over luapula province and very soon southern province will follow in tandem
Mr Capitalist!
There is no evidence to show that mmd is working hard,if it had worked hard,we wouldnt have seen these floods,we wouldnt have had deaths because of the same floods, they should have planned for it,and when campaigning, point out to the electorate that look,we have a network of drainage system around lsk,if they planned properly with the interest of the masses at heart, they wouldnt have bought hearses, instead they could have bought ambulances so that our mothers dnt give birth at bus stops,if they had planned, kunda wouldn waste his time and taxpayers money going for an aerial view of lusaka, then going back to order more ministers to take another view, where are priorities my brother
Smoothcriminal
I though we were talking about floods. I don’t understand why you started talking about hearses when the issue was on floods.
All I am wondering is why didn’t the councils (which are majority controlled by PF) build any drainage system? Why didn’t the councils plan for the floods? The central govt has to plan on a Macro level. They have to look at the situation in Kitwe, Ndola, Chipata, Livingstone, etc. Lusaka is not the only city in Zambia. Councils who plan on a micro level could have planned for drainage systems but they didn’t. You cannot expect the central govt to do everything. It is simply giving councils a free ride. Just look at Chipata municipal council and how hard they are working. They want city status and are working towards it.
Oh,i thought you would get it,i was talking about priorities,if the government is working hard, they could have forseen this situation of drainage and taken advantage of the situation and gained political mileage, more over, the central govnt oversees all the projects being undertaken by local councils and its their responsibility to make sure that everything is done accordingly,,,Imagine you have a step son,you give him money to buy food for the whole family,he misuses the money, meanwhile everyone else goes hungry because of your step son,are you going to sit there helplessly and point the finger at your wayward son,im sure you would find a solution then sit down and grill you son,and as far as im concerned, funding for the local authorities started being disbursed late last year, october
Mr Capitalist
Dont blame the councils, blame the Ministry of Local Govnt
Department of Housing and Infrastructure Development
The Department of Housing and Infrastructure Development (DHID) is charged with responsibilities associated with infrastructure development (i.e. construction, rehabilitation, repair and maintenance) of urban, peri-urban and rural water supply and sanitation services, roads and market places and the provision of support services to Local Authorities. The departmental goal is to facilitate infrastructure development, improving co-ordination between the Ministry and Local Authorities, Donors, NGOs and other stakeholders. The department is headed by the Director, Mr. Peter Lubambo, assisted by heads of different units under the department.
Its now time for MMD to join the PACT, HH’s war is loud, and great, that its shaking every province, the fight that was starated by Mazoka continues when even people thought its finished with his death..Here we come the name of PACT,..Viva PACT
chilichill2006 & Smoothcriminal – You guys have spoken very well. It’s this Kizito and Maestro who keep on degree issue. The pact is not about degree or the next president and the Veep. We will deal with that issue at a later stage. We want to come with a strategy that will surprise the MMD. If Sata shows his degree, everyone (MMD) will focus on him because he has more political support than HH. I wish to advise the people not to focus on degree item. The item to look at is the campaign trail for the pact. VIVA Pact!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#34 Litunga – Sata should produce his degrees so that we are aware if he is eligible for plot one position. If he does not have, we should be selling HH for President. Time is not our side. We should heat the road to all provinces and campaign for him especially in you province where MMD is strong.
On “And Zambia’s former Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo Adrian Bauleni and a Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) member David Kasanga have joined the UPND“, I glad that sensible people are now sure that only the mighty UPND has a manifesto and credibility to transform Zambia into a developed country in record time and that president HH is the right man to be Zambian President.
Well, let us wait and see what PF will do in favour of president and PACT presidential-candidate-to-be HH.
Have a blessed day you.

The excuse of “funds” is totally unfounded. In other countries, municipal bonds are issued when councils do not have funds for infrastructure projects. If the councils where serious about development, they would have issued bonds to raise funds for such projects.
As for the step son analogy, 1.) Who is the step son accountable to? 2.) Who has the power to deliver disciplinary action against the son?
As far as I am concerned, the MMD govt did not vote for councilors, the people did and the councilors are accountable to the people. The councilors should have dealt with the problem of drainage systems. Now it has to take central govt intervention to do a job councils have power to do. [tbc
In every company you have a structure, you have someone in charge of Finance, someone in charge of Operations, someone in charge of marketing, someone in charge of IT, someone in charge of public relations etc. You cannot expect a CEO to do the job of the person in charge of Finance, Marketing, etc when they are people who can do the jobs.
The councils are supposed to do those jobs. If they cant then why did they bid for the jobs? Why must it take central govt intervention to do a job a local council can do? It does not make sense to me.
On the UNIP faction’s decision to work with the mighty UPND and the verbatim from the POST ““Our working with the UPND is inspired by the vision espoused by its leadership. Suffice to say that we believe in the hopes and aspirations of the party. The party’s pro-poor manifesto is a robust plan identical to UNIP-NRF to rebuild our shattered economy in order to provide basic needs such as food, jobs, shelter and health care to our suffering masses,” Gen Masheke said“, I wish to thank the boldness by the UNIP-NRF to release such timely data to all Zambians at this crucial time when dubious characters like Mr PF MC Sata should never be allowed an opportunity to misrule Zambia.
However, dubious characters are welcome to support young well meaning energetic people like…
#2 kizito.Mr. Sata will not stand but will be the talisman for young HH and indeed the catalyst. HH will need Sata to “INTRODUCE HIM.” So whatever tricks the MMD inspired NCC comes up with will not work. At the moment the old constable will just keep on detracting people like Shikapwasha and George Kunda without letting them know what he is really up to. Ask yourself why is George Kunda calling on the Upnd to sack HH and even going a bit tribal by inciting the Tongas to ditch the Upnd because its flirting with Bembas.
Anyway good LUCKY HH and the PACT but ALLOW our SATA to be your vice ,sorry to MMD
Peace Maker, the Vice President of Zambia will also need to have the same qualifications of a presidential candidate under the NCC recommendations for a new Constitution. Maybe Mrs SATA Dr Kaseba can be placed as a country Veep under the possible Zambian Presidency of HH since she is a credible Medical Doc at UTH and she is ONE with Mr Sata according to the Holy Bible.
Anyway, have a good day and keep well all as we await to see Mr MC Sata’s degree or hear about it on the nomination day for elections next year.

Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.
No4 spare us for expressing your ignorance, parade your degree if u want.as if we are stupid.
Free, free, free, we are free at last. The days for the MMD are gone! VIVA PACT
Capitalist, what have you been drinking or smooking?Do you realise who is in-charge of the councils in zambia?Just to educate you, the councils fall under the local Govt ministry. So the buck stops at the local Govt. Minister. If he had done his homework properly, those floods we are seeing today could have been averted.Ass lickers like yourself on GRZ payroll are responsible for the underdevelopment of Zambia. This is what happens when cronies and ass lickers are put in certain positions, not on merit but for their abilities to suck and lick ass tirelessly.Instead of blogging senselessly, get off your ass and do something constructively at the embassy.
Capitalist, comment #38 refers.Nothing will ever make sense to you except ass licking and ass sucking. Are you so thick that you can’t see where the buck stops?Every organisation has strucures but the buck stops at the head. When things are right he gets the praise and when they are wrong he shoulders the blame.I can not teach you to think but I can only encourage you to think with your little brain. One has to take responsibility, that is why it is very common in the western world for people to step down when there’s a scandal in the ministry they head.George Kunda was humble enough to admitt Govt failure regarding the floods after first accusing the opposition of being responsible.Zambia is extremely underdeveloped and we have a long way to go.We all need to do all we can as a people
The Pact must be wary of Masheke because anything he touches begins to shrink and die. Look at UNIP, FDD and so forth. Good luck to Sata!
Mwanawakwitu at Posting 11: You have hit the nail on the head!
This reall issue. The pact is here to stay. How can a president be promising the Vice president where ever he goes.Yersterday was western province , today is Luapula and tomorrow will be Eastern province or each province. What a shame no real issues from plot one.Even the one who is number two does not know what will hit the following day as promises are all over.Viva pact as MMD has lost direction.Never lie to your wife that come tomorrow l will buy you a car, and the more you lie to her than the other man will do this in no wasting time.Ba Banda learn to tell the truth.
Thanks for your comment guys. Ever since the degree issue has be put in the constitution, all the people joining pact is through UPND. What does this mean to sata..!! they know that he has no degree. Lets start campaigning now so that our president to be will have more time to organise his cabinet and the president…MC Sata.
Masheke cannot garner any support in Zambia let alone Western Province. He is a non issue. This is a man who has failed at anything he has tried since the KK days. I am just waiting to see what strategy the rebel PF MPs from Luapula have. I can see some seats in Southern Province being lost to the ruling party. The first opportunity that the opposition has to dislodge the MMD seems to be slipping away very fast.
it is just time for chane like1991. Folks in MMD, just accept that time toleave office for others is now. .2011 is for who ever Pact President they part will choose, referable hh bez he is young and fresh ideas. we are tired of old politics
