NRP will not have pact with parties without conventions – Mumba

Share

The National Revolutionary Party (NRP) will not go into an alliance with any political party which has not yet held its convention ahead of the 2011 tripartite elections.

Party President Cosmo Mumba told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that it was the wish of the party to see not more than three candidates contesting the Republican Presidency in the 2011 elections.
Mr Mumba said this would minimize the splitting of votes which he said has always disadvantaged the opposition parties.

He disclosed that his party has already started identifying Local and Parliamentary candidates for the 2011 tripartite elections in all the 150 constituencies.

He said so far, the party has picked a Mr. Charles Mwelwa for Mwense Constituency in Luapula Province adding that next week the party will be selecting a Parliamentary candidate for Kanyama Constituency in Lusaka province.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mumba has said his party is in a serious financial crisis and appealed to all party members to help raise funds in preparation for the tripartite elections.

And Mr Mumba has appealed to All People’s Congress Party president Kenny Ngondo, UPND member Clive Chirwa and National Democratic Focus (NDF) president Benny Mwila to join his party so that they could form a formidable force which would be able to liberate Zambia from the shackles of poverty.

In another development, Mr. Mumba has hailed President Rupiah Banda on government’s initiative to build houses for police officers.

He said it is important that this project is extended to all provinces and districts in the country so that accommodation problems faced by Police officers are minimized.

“When police officers are living in poor sanitary conditions, it breeds corruption which is rampant in the police service”, said Mr Mumba.

He lamented that police officers are doing a noble job for the country and as such, need to be looked after very well.

  1. This Man is a comdian, he should join either BY or Father Ken rather than him calling the oldtimers. so his agenda is BY Vice(political) and Father Ken Vice(Admin) then him Presidente. LOL

  2. Actually, he claims that he has an honorary Doctorate, from where, I dont know. We had a number of such a few years ago, including one from a self proffessed healer of Aids- a deviation from his clearing company.

It is an insult to those who hold real PHD/Dsc or were genuinely honored to be given a similar title as these clowns, please, it not Dr Mumba, its Mr.

  3. Mic mouse parties. bootlickers looking for jobs. politics of hunger pa Zd. Think about your children and align yourselves with the PACT. It is for the good of the country.:d

  4. Who is this chap to call for any reasonable people to join him? Please, this chap better remains in oblivion. We respect different views but not these. This chap this just publicly state that he is an MMD cadre. Any way, Zambia will soon be free from these chaps very soon. We shall soon have a better goverment.

  5. Uyu Dr Cosmo Mumba, let us demand to see his PhD dissertation. He must put it, in PDF, on some site so that we can analyse it. Otherwise, it is one of tthese online PhDs.

  6. While one should not despise the day of small beginnings (tafimbwa lubilo) one still wonders how a party that survives on pree statements can have an impact on the people. To identify 150 people to stand as MPs means every member of this political party will stand in 75 constituencies at once. Does the Zambian Electoral Act allow a person to compete for more than one seat? mmm just wondering!

  7. I have a strong feeling that the sponsors of this boy Cosmos Mumba are MMD to split the votes at the general elections and make it easy to rig the elections. There are too many political parties and NGOs in Zambia. With a population of 12million, we have almost 20 political parties.Anybody can just wake up and decide to form a political party. It reminds me of Zaire in 1960 at Indepenence when there were more than 250 political parties, but the difference then was that most of them were sponsored by Belguim, to make sure it was ungovernable and to sow seeds of chaos. There should be a minimum number of membership (fully paid members) before a political party is registered. Can the NCC look into this as well as the number of NGOs. So much poverty X too many political parties=No Direction

  8. iwe ka cosmo has your ka useless kictchen party ever been to the convention and who voted for you to the president. We do not need you in our pact. Kafele kutali.
