Chiluba’s Pettiness – a disappointment in the Diaspora

Share

By Patrick Hatontola

On 21st February 2010, Former President Dr. FTJ Chiluba called for a press conference at this Kabulonga residence which has been generally described by Zambians in the Diaspora as a hallucinating session. Many have commended Emmanuel Mwamba (Chiluba’s spokes person) for not participating in this circus. What an eye opener to those thinking that Chiluba is still a political factor when his own have lamentably rejected him.

I found the speech unbefitting a former head of state. It turned horrendous moods into depressing moments to listeners. It made sad reading to Zambians who eagerly waited and rightfully so, to hear the former head of state articulate issues of national importance delivered with sincerity and maturity; humility and truth, pragmatic and visionary based on experience.

Alas, that was too much to ask from him. His speech could not transcend above the expectations of political cadres at ward level, to say the least. This goes to show the degree of mediocre he manifested. No matter what amount of compromised reasoning one deployed, they would still not comprehend Chiluba’s fallacies. The question is how could FTJ – a good speaker and eloquent orator stoop and sink that low? How could FTJ deliver a speech devoid of truth and objectivity; a speech remote from wisdom; and more so, a speech that is socio-economically and politically useless? Yes, this is what happens when one reaches a dead end. Fair to say that FTJ has reached a point of diminishing returns to be deemed politically impotent and strategically stale.

When you delve into the contents of his speech, it becomes apparent that Chiluba was at pains to please the invisible hand. Perhaps, its the hand that holds his temporal liberties. To see his predicament, one can easily zoom at his narrowly secured acquittal in the plunder case and the impending disaster from the London Judgment once registered.

In his speech, Chiluba accused Zambians of curtailing his freedom of movement. Be it known to him that Zambians have no issues with his coppe belt visits but for his continued lies on the copperbelt- the people whom he caused irreparable damage during his reign of misrule. The speech was founded on a reason-free axis save a hopeless cry for prolonged freedom more in a form of a prerogative pardon. Chiluba could only do this by decampaigning the opposition whom he believes will bury his hopes, his quest to remain a scot- free criminal suspect. While he can’t see beyond his nose, Zambians do.

Trivially, Chiluba claimed that Sata did not even know how to write minutes. Conversely, Chiluba stated that he defended Sata three times in a claim that a vote of no confidence was passed against him. It is public knowledge that Sata successfully completed his term as Minister without portifolio with an impeccable and a celebrated service delivery record as Minister of Health. Chiluba is killing himself with his own dosage because his vehement support for Sata in 2006 elections proves beyond any shadow of doubt that he believes in Sata’s abilities to govern the country. Why then is Chiluba today abusing his conscious through desperate lies that Sata has no ability or capability to govern? This opportunism is there for everyone to see.

Listen to his claims that he will facilitate the issuance of people’s titles deeds, why would a former head of state voluntary relegate himself and shamelessly usurp the work for administrative clerks? As he aptly observed the admirable works of states- men such as Bill Clinton, let Chiluba be of service to himself by emulating these noble men. These Men have channeled their energies and time to pertinent issues such as the fight against HIV/AIDS and propelling programs that Forster economic emancipation. These world icons never engage into bootlicking like Chiluba but remain true to national duty as it demands. Former president of South Thabo Mbeki, Benjamin Mkapa of Tanzania and Sam Nujoma of Namiba’s silence are perfect examples of what a former President ought to be.

The million dollar question is whether Chiluba’s mediocre and pettiness is embraced in the ranks of the MMD. If the MMD leadership is to gunner support from grass roots, it should disassociate itself from Chiluba in all ways. If left unchecked, Chiluba’s talks will upset the MMD’s political fortunes faster than he spoiled the country. This is with conviction that people can no longer be proud to be identified with him. Let Chiluba know Zambians will forever distance themselves from his maneuvers. With all the misery, poverty and suffering he has caused to Zambians, the least FTJ can do is keep quite than brag of any service because his tenure was characterized by gross disservice against all odds.

The advice to Mr. Sata as a potential candidate is that, let him not respond to Chiluba’s childishness. He must rather continue focusing on issues of national interest for the better of all Zambians.

  1. Thank you Mr. Hatontola. We need more articulated issues like this. You have put Chiluba where he blongs to. Well written article and the thruth has been said as it is.

  2. Its not only Chiluba who is petty, all Zambian politicians are too petty. they behave like 1 year old kids. Responding to attacks even when not necessary. I think keeping quite is best even when one attacks you because you gain respect. Now its tit for tat! takwaba ati abakote baimwelemo, nabo abaiche bab nuuu!!! malabish!

  3. Thank you MR, you have just hammer the nail on its head let this short man keep quiet than creating more harm to zambian and let the pact leaders not respond to this childish leader (chiluba), just keep on fighting for the lives of poor zambian.

  4. If I were to describe Mr. Chiluba, I would say: all eloquence of speech but rotten to the core.
Wouldn’t touch him with a ten foot pole!

  5. This article is very brilliant and points every aspect of Chiluba’s past and his current concern. He has no morals and the Diaspora has rejected him totally. It’s hard to see a former head of state lowing himself to a ward cadre. Mr. Hatontola please keep on giving us this intellect analysis on issue of importance.

  6. while you have ably and rightlyput chiluba where he is suppose to be i am afraid your article laboured too much to place sata where he is not. you demonstrated how chiluba failed lamentably during his rule and proceeded to use the very disgraced chiluba’s approval of sata as proof that he is material for presidence. isnt this ironical. sata was part of it all and has his own indaba to answer for. both are riff ruffs.

  7. #3 you are right FTJ should keep quiet or involve his craftness in the fight aganist HIV than dividing zambia into pieces

  8. Breaking news, Chiluba’s Heart problem has started after reading this article. But Zambians seem determined to speak out more of his evils. This is the price he has to pay for coming back into active politics

  9. One sentence summerizes that press conference “a speech devoid of truth and objectivity; a speech remote from wisdom; and more so, a speech that is socio-economically and politically useless” SIMPLES!

  10. I was also terribly disappointed with FTJ’s speech. Actually I couldn’t finish reading the article, I felt sick. It was so unnecessary. I mean finshi balelwisha ba FTJ. He already has his freedom. The man he is treating like this was behind him during his tenure, gave him all the support etc, I mean they are comrades and now for him to turn like that its sickening. Yes they can differ in politics and go at each others throts, but there should be some decency and morality.

  11. Mpongwe MMD backs RB

THE MMD in Mpongwe has endorsed President Rupiah Banda as the party’s sole candidate in the 2011 presidential elections. The delegates to the Mpongwe MMD Constituency conference resolved that they would back President Banda’s candidature at the party convention and during the 2011 presidential elections. Constituency chairperson, Andrew Banda said the party members in the district had realised that there was no better candidate suitable to lead the ruling party to victory than President Banda. The conference unanimously resolved to back President Banda. “The MMD in Mpongwe is intact and without any divisions, we are sure that the party will emerge victorious,” he said.

  12. Embattled and exposed Sata not credible — Mumbi, Chimumbwa

TWO former Patriotic Front (PF) secretaries-general have said their former party leader Michael Sata does not have the credibility to contest the Republican presidency and they are ready to testify that the PF leader had fathered two children out of his matrimonial home.

Edward Mumbi and Charles Chimumbwa yesterday said that they were ready to testify and prove that Mr Sata had fathered two children out of his matrimonial home.

Mr Mumbi also reiterated that he would petition any attempt by Mr Sata to contest the Republican presidency.

  13. He said he was convinced that with the background he had and the revelations made by former president Frederick Chiluba recently, Mr Sata was not suitable to be president.

And Mr Mumbi said he also worked closely with Mr Sata as his secretary general in PF and dared to reveal more reasons why the opposition leader should not attempt to contest the Republican presidency.

He challenged Mr Sata to refute allegations that he faced some disciplinary cases before leaving the police force.

Mr Mumbi said in 1998, when Mr Sata was MMD national secretary, three national executive committee (NEC) members wrote a letter challenging him to explain how he left the police force and he failed to do so.

  14. Mr Mumbi also accused Mr Sata of having misconducted himself when he was minister of Local Government and Housing in 1992 by transferring K1.2 billion received from the Ministry of Finance into a 45-day special investment account that was opened at one of the commercial banks contrary to regulations.

He said the matter was investigated by the Anti-Corruption Commission.

  15. He sad going by the New Testament, which today’s Christians follow, it was wrong for Mr Sata to have more than one wife.

Reverend Alfred Banda of Lusaka said a leader should have one wife and it was wrong and questionable for Mr Sata to have two wives as alleged by Dr Chiluba.

Mission Press director, Miha Drevensek said in an interview that “the whole issue is too dirty and I do not want to issue any comment.”

  16. Mwata you are the people we want to see eliminated from this generation .People who cant discuss developmental issue but always dwelling on hearsy and nonsense romours. Look at the discussion at hand and contribute your brain not your s**t

  17. Chiluba is not the only problem here; it’s also the man who has given him authority to talk rubbish…and that is R Bee. I hate this man from the bottom of my ass

  18. Bishop Chihana said it was wrong for leaders to have multiple partners because that suggested that one was lacking in leadership abilities.
He advised people vying for national offices to avoid getting involved in questionable relationships.

Evangelical Youth Alliance president, Moses Lungu said the Bible in the New Testament was clear on the fact that leaders should only be married to one wife if they were to serve the people better. He sad going by the New Testament, which today’s Christians follow, it was wrong for Mr Sata to have more than one wife.

  19. To every action there is a reaction. This is why when a hypocrity in his quest to be eating eucharist dubiously sinks low to the level of daily defaming and framing others, overstretched tolerance of others has a point of action and FJT just delivered with precision and damage to the disdain of PF mishanga sellers. They don’t even know where and how to drive a damage control.

  20. mwata sata has never denied of having kids, he has just denied of having married to the woman he got kids with and for the God seek can you stick to the topic at hand (mwata) and dont paste and copy put your opinions on the table about the topic at hand

  21. Well written article Mr. Hatontola. Chiluba is now showing his desparation to remain a free criminal. In 2006, he supported Sata hoping LPM to lose elections so that he can be free. Am sure FTJ smiled when LPM died coz he knew it was the beginning of his walk to freedom. Now he has found a new friend called RB who manipulate his way to freedom. So in order for FTJ to hang on to his bought freedom, he has decided to be close to RB and start spitting into his old mates’ faces. I wonder what will happen if RB loses next. Kafupi, you will not be smart forever.

  22. #3 and number # 8, I was gona say exactly what you are saying. Zambians can longer be fooled anymore. They can now voise out. Wapya munzi.. The PACT can not be shaken by FTJ. i like the comment in the article saying he is politically inportent and strategically stale

  23. I really felt sorry for the current wife of 2 inc as he laboured to put across some aguments in favour of Nyama Soya and against King Cobra, you could actually read the face of his wife as she silently prayed for the conference to come to an end.In my own opinion, i think she has started doubting the sanity of her short hasband. we may be headed for another devource and 2 inch will again sing his “Bushimbe nabumpeshamano stanza”

  24. Biased article. It is Sata who is petty and he started it all. Remember, it was Sata who said Chiluba stole some ones wife. How can an adult be stolen from her husband. When Sata was sying all this you pretended you never heard. When Chiluba responds all hell breaks loose. Sata drew first blood. You hypocrites. You expect Chiluba to remain silent while Sata is barking. Chiluba has more damaging info about Sata. Mind you Chiluba has a thick dosier on Sata. Just wait. It is Sata and Chiluba who is deperate. Sata is desperate to be president so that all skeletons are not exposed.

  25. I was not disappointed at all because I never expected Chiluba to rise above pettiness. When was he honestly serious with life? He claims to have been a brave gladiator against KK’s one party dictatorship and yet when Aka Lewanika and Dr Remmy Mushota asked him to deliver a letter to KK giving him a deadline to restore multi-party democracy, he chickened out claiming he will delegate his general secretary Newsya Zambia Zimba who also bolted. It had to take Arthur Wina’s bollocks to steal to hand deliver it to Kaunda and the rest is history. Suffice to say Chiluba turned out two days later in a bright yellow suit claiming he can deliver it, much to the disgust of Aka, Chitala and Mushota. So to much, he is a chicken!

  26. Who cares if Zambians in the diaspora are disappoited by Chiluba’s press conference? these guys are failures by nature! they failed to make it at home and therefore trying their lucky breaking plates in the diaspora!! Zambians at home are the ones who have the right to say whether Chiluba’s conference was good or not as they are the ones affected by the politics at hime. You failures in the diaspora just continue working your bums off for pea nuts and live hand to mouth!!! Zambian have every right to know the true colors of people who are vying to get to plot one and if the revelations Chiluba made about Sata are true then he is not suitable. As for HH i think he can still say the money was collected by the company he worked for not him personally so he still is ok on this matter!!!

  27. Abena George, bushe are you related to Kunda and also infected with sickness of the head? Let’s wait and see once they are in court when Sata is insulated to spill the beans. We now want to know who kiled Baldwin, Ngenda, Paul Tembo, Wezi Kaulung’ombe etc. Who ordered KK and Chongwe to be shot and who was gun-running for diamonds for Savimbi in the process endangering the security of Zambia? Who put our boys on a not airworthy buffalo plane, sending them to their most violent deaths so far away from home? I hope Sata will provide answers to all these questions, in court. We will then see who has been swallowing the eucarist, with the devil, chiwa!

  28. Ba mwata mwaba tole, bushe Chiluba nibanga banamayo kaupapo nongula nibanga abakashana babikapo imitwe?
And you Abena george, Chiluba started sleeping with Regina while she was still kuli ba mwaza and he call himsel born again. Chiluba has been hiding muli Bible but this man is doing brings shame in the eyes of the God. Yes Sata agreed having two kids with another lady. How many kids does Chiluba have with different woman. Kalailomona ukuba holy Kapuba sana

  29. #36 open your eyes and see beyond ,cant you see that FTJ s conference was out of desparation. he knows that his freedom is hanging on a cobweb if his shield is remove from power he goes down. so to prevent this he has to frastrate the Zambian so that the shiel continues in office.it is a cry of a desparate
    man .

  30. Excellent article from Hatontola. Indeed he has writen for the diaspora, but will the man in the Zambian Katondo street buy this? No. Chiluba is an excellent political performer and believe me, that press conference was not for the educated and informed, but for the common man in the street. That speech was meant to tickle the likes of William Banda and his army of ‘kaponyas’ who had shifted allegiance to Sata in Lusaka and the Copper Belt. It was also meant to discredit Sata in the eyes of the religious. On politics he may not have scored, but this is real-politik, and I am afraid, he has wounded the cobra, fatally!

  31. this is absolute rubbish from hatontontola, who told him the diaspora is disappointed. we are disappointed that people see in sata a leader when he is a buffon thats all. sata is the one who started this whole thing. why cant chiluba speak out and defend himself???? can you explain to me why its okay for sata to say whatever he likes about people and lie all the time while others must keep out?? and chiluba did not accuse zambians of curtailing his movements he said PF and not zambians. why lie?? just do an article based on the truth and declare your allegiance to the useless sata

  32. Correct the Saint. you have hit nail on the head. sata is wounded fatally thats why HH said no me I am not party to this argument. its between sata and FTJ!!

  33. #33 A wiseman will keep their mouth shut. Thabo Mbeki is being talked about nearly every day in the media by his fellow ANC guys but he has never talked back. They are now looking like fools because Thabo is zee.

  34. Mr Chimumbwa said in an interview yesterday that he met Mr Sata’s two daughters based in Ndola when he was still party secretary general.
“I challenge Mr Sata to come and deny this fact in my face,” he said.

He said it was unfortunate that Mr Sata could go to an extent of denying his children when facts were plain and could be proven if he insisted on denying them.

He said he was convinced that with the background he had and the revelations made by former president Frederick Chiluba recently, Mr Sata was not suitable to be president.

  35. We Zambians are always reaping what we sow and we refuse to learn from our disasterous mistakes. We have been obsessed with the preference of foreigners to be our presidents, first it was a Malawian, next was a notorious Zairean and now it is a Zimbabwean. The only Zambian president was the late Mwanawasa and unfortunately he didn’t live long. These foreigners continue to oppress and trample on us as they wish. Another threat is Katumbi the Zairean who is messing about in the affairs of our country. Chiluba in particular with the support of the president takes Zambians too much for granted and a way has to be found to put a stop to this.

  36. #42, do not be personal with the author. You sound disgrantles by his eloquence. Since you are short of words, the best you must do is conceed that he has hammured your Kafupi. This article is a rare find.

  37. I am in disapora I am disappointed with Zambians ín general because instead of spending our energy on issues that affect our daily life, you are busy talking of one man and his affairs. Those two are spent forces in politics. Why cant we address problems like floods which are right now affecting our brothers and sisters so this doesnt happen again. The unemployment which is causing our children to be on the streets, the poor grade 12 results

  38. Ka Chiluba we shall arrest you immediately we come to power you know very well that u are not a clean boy. so no matter how you campaign for Nyama Soya you are headed for the Gallows Chi colour. Naiwe William Banda u are a To Le the kafupi ****ed you and are kissing his Moon Yellow

  39. The writer of this article is a PF-HH PACK, JUST HEAR THE NAME, Patrick Hatontola.
iT DOES NOT HOLD ANY WATER THIS ARCTILE.NO COMMENT, WASTE OF TIME HERE…NEXT

  40. The writer of this article is a PF-HH PACK, JUST HEAR THE NAME, Patrick Hatontola.
iT DOES NOT HOLD ANY WATER THIS ARCTILE.NO COMMENT, WASTE OF TIME HERE…LT ,NEXT NEW ARCTILE

  41. What is change? Is it bringing leaders even if they are of immoral background? Foolish to do so. Listening and watching ANC Youth President, Julius Malema of RSA over Zuma fathering 20th child? He said, ‘we as youths we are in no position to discuss the immorality of our elders’ in reference to Zuma. I agree with Malema fully. But its different with FTJ and Serpet Cobra. They are elders and they are just doing what Malema answered of let elders talk about themselves. Serpet Sata started the verbal fight on FTJ, it was normal and the diaspora was not disappointed. Now FTJ fires back, the diapora is disappointed. Are helping correcting the rot, no way! Serpet Sata is aspiring for plot 1 and owez bad mouthed on others and is he clean? No way! FTJ is unclean too hence both are not clean…

  42. PH, thanks. I like your analysis. Keep it going. To the other bloggers with different views, this article are meant to provoke our thinking… hence don’t play the man, play the ball…written a positive critique and we will comment… Articles like this cost time and energy..which only patriotic Zedians like Patrict can sucrifice..

  43. #50 to 51, please do a bit of some reasoning. The author does not sound a cadre like you. His urguments are sound. He deserves all our support. Indeed this sounds like a voice for the voiceless. Do not be as petty as Chiluba

  44. Well written Sir, A good statesman will always preserve his dignity by not getting involved in petty quarrels and innuendoes. Silence is golden.

  45. Quote

“This is pettiness of the highest order, how many of us here have children with women who are not our wives? Sata has children with a single woman unlike great KAFUPI who grabbed a woman from a rather sleepy Mr Mwanza, this is not news because we’ve always known that Sata has children from other women besides Dr Kaseba. FTJ allaged that Sata got a sack from federal police because of petty theft but forgot that he’s the father of all thieves and married to a convicted thief. So there are no questions that require answers from Sata / HH”

  46. There is too much ignorance in this Hatontola chap. He forgets that FTJ was just retaliating after Sata consistently insulted him by calling him a wife grabber. Now Sata’s secrets have been revealed and he is too ashamed to admit that he is a polygamist. If there is anyone who is dissappointing, it is Sata and HH for failing to tell the nation how they will bring prosperity to Zambia. Instead, they focus on insulting politicians thinking that this will reduce the floods in Kabanana. FTJ has nothing to lose and he is prepared to bury Sata by exposing all his marital and theft of public funds scandals like Merzaf, K2billion from the National Assembly, etc…

  47. The more Sata loses his mind and rants off, and HH supports this nonsense, the more i think MMD and RB should be given up to 2016 to rule this country. All of a sudden i dont think i want change just yet. The choices are limited. Both HH & Sata need to retire and let fresh blood in so that our politics can mature beyond name calling and airing dirty linen in public. The opposition is lost in its attempt to convince me that they can do better than MMD.

  48. 61, there is nothing wrong with it unless:-

    1. You’re catholic
    2. You deny it

Sata is both Catholic and he denies it. Boy is he in trouble. DNA testing will screw him on both counts.

  49. 59 Kyamba Lesa- Sata never talked about FTJs children. All Sata has been saying is for public interest- Chiluba stole and must return the loot. Sata has not mentioned any of Chiluba’s children despite the fact that these children are from diferent sources-it is not their fault

  50. #60 JK it alright being a WUM but you are beyond that. HH needs to retire? MMD and RB should be given up to 2016? Your grand pa will be 79 in 2016!

    Do you have a brain?

Shall we try his “grand” children he has with his missus?:d

  51. #62 Pa Ze- HH is a gentleman. You should have read how he answered Mr. Fredrick Chiluba. As for my uncle, he has been like that and has managed to push through to success through ubukaka(agressiveness). But for FTJ, Iam sorry to say he is in problems and will phart anything to avoid a retrial of his plunder cases.

  52. #60, you have no issues worthy of public domain. Your Kafupi may try but he will go 6 fit under with RB next year. They are all jail bent. Remember RB was an accesory to the crime when he facilitated Kafupi’s aquittal.

  53. Mr Hatontola, I beg to differ. Chiluba did not accuse Zambians of impeding his freedom of movement, certainly I do not feel accused because I did nothing of the sort. It should be clear to you that Chiluba is referring to those who made so much noise regarding his visit to the Copperbelt, those who tried to torch him in Ndola and we all know who. If only from that point of view, Chiluba is right to demand his freedom of movement, wouldn’t you agree? And your comment about him serving an invisible hand exposes you as part of that boring anti-RB clique. I see that you are trying to strengthen your case by referring to Zambians in the diaspora, but you can only fool fellow *****s Mr Hatontola!

  54. Surely when I saw FTJ on MUVI TV trying hard to justify his and Sata’s ****aholism I said GOD whats wrong with my country. It proves even further that State house was no different from a brothel in FTJ’s days. please give us a break…. We are trying to reorganize Zambia’s pride. And if thats the news Muvi TV will be showing, maybe remove it from Satelite ‘coz people out here are loughing at us. BOTSWANA

  55. # 71, please practice civilized blogging. We dont want people who insult the intelligiencia. Your comments do not match to the author’s reasoning and how he has articulated the matter. I agree with him 100% and disagree with your shallow response. look at all comments, yours is a stand alone but we respect your minority view. Are you Senior Citizine? See, not even him can defend FTJ becouse nkani yalula!

  56. The World is against Chiluba and his evils,Let him drink poison and die.He has nothing to live for on earth, even if he created a kantemba Church, which follower will follow a criminal like Chiluba?.He has forgotten about the deaths of Paul Tembo,Penza,Wezi,Baldwin and many others,he should confess his sins before he does, time is too little on his side.

  57. #74, you are spot on. Kafufi and RB must confess their sins becouse Heaven has heard Zambians’ lamentations. VIVA PACT and VIVA Hatontola. The article was written with no fear of favour. Chibula may be on the airport by now being evacuated to RSA becouse this time it may not be a heart problem but mumimba. Stolen money must be brewing in his stomatch

  58. I HAVE NEVER BEEN A SUPPORTER OF BOTH CHILUBA AND SATA, MY VIEW IS THAT BOTH OF THEM ARE ON THE SAME LEVEL, LEADERS ARE THERE TO SERVE THEIR PEOPLE NOT TRADE INSULTS ON NATIONAL MEDIA EVERY DAY WHAT EXAMPLE ARE THEY GIVING TO OUR KIDS? BOTH THESE TWO CLOWNS ARE NONESENCE, THE PACT SHOLD COME OUT AND TELL THE PEOPLE WHO THE WILL FIELD AS PRESIDENT BEFORE MORE DAMAGE IS DONE I CAN ASURE YOU THAT ZAMBIANS ARE NOT SUPIT THEY DO READ BETWEET THE LINES SATA SARTED THESE INSULTS SO LET HIM GIVE US SOME ANSWERS DESPITE CHULBA’S RECORD DO NOT RUSH TO THE COURTS GO THE POST AS YOU HAVE BEEN DOING IN THE PAST WE ARE WAITING.

  59. What about Sata’s daily insults and petiness? You Sata supporters are self-deceived. The guy will never rule Zambia, period!

  60. Ouote
“Whatever Chiluba is Claiming against Sata ,75% of us men have multiple relationships even FJT himself Knows this he did’nt only get Mwanza’s wife but had a lot of girls around.People in Chawama Knows this when blackouts were done to give FJT chance to move around.
That aside ,FJT is claiming that he is not back in active Politics why is he going arounding touring certains towns and Immediately he says something RB effects it,we know what they are doing thats why they doing all they could to dismantal the Pact”.

  61. Sata’s ability to rule has been questioned by all 4 presidents that Zambia has had including 2 for whom he worked. What more evidence is needed to convince you that this guy is not capable of taking the nation forward? Let’s maybe look to HH and other young guys. Let these old folks continue insulting each other.

  62. This article says it all. However, I am waiting for that day when judgement shall descend on this former head of state (SO CALLED)

  63. The opposition should not waste time triying to stop chiluba from enganging in active politics. They should simply tell the electorate that voting for MMD will automatically bring kAFUPI back in power. You will see how the political fortunes of MMD will fade. Just try, the man is doing you a favour.

  64. The diaspora? Who?

This article is by one man. We are in the diaspora and we have never heard of the writer. Which diaspora is he in?

  65. Anyone who was old enough to see the 3rd Term in 2001 knows that Sata and FTJ are at the same level. Sata and Chiluba were best friends and wanted to change the national constituition. Young people who are 20 years and under can be forgiven for being naive. They think Sata is the best thing since sliced bread, they were babies when we put down the 3rd Term push.

If Patrick Hatontola is old enough, he should know that Sata and FTJ are of similar calibre so he should not expect much from FTJ. Birds of the same feather flock together – see them at 3rd Term in 2001.

Young people cannot understand when we tell them Sata is not fit to rule Zambia. They know nothing. Sata is the worst thing since sliced bread.

But then, his followers have zeal without knowledge. Tekeni amatako panshi.

  66. UK-Zed Observer, continue supporting MMD. I agree with the arthor that all the learned people both home and in the diaspora are disgusted by Chiluba. Sata is a less evil. How old are you? The author’s maturity sounds like he is very old while you sound to be in your late teens?

  67. #60 Dejavu,

I see you have not been keeping up with the events. Sata accused FTJ of stealing someones wife. This is where it all started. It had nothing to do with returning stolen money. If it was about stolen money, FTJ would have revealed how Sata stole tax payers money through the Merzaf project or how Sata received stolen funds from the National Assembly. Lets get real and stop fabricating ideas.

  68. Hell no! This article does not speak for me and please speak for yourself Mr Hachitonto, whoever you are. As far as I am concerned Sata had it coming. For a long time, this thug has behaved as though he is above reproach. He has always used very deragotary words against anybody perceived as his “enemy”. Chiluba dared KK when everybody else, including Sata, was showering him with praises and none of you cowards will take this away from Chiluba.I don’t care what you say but Chiluba is somebody’s Dad and husband. He has to defend himself when attacked. Just shut the F… up.

  69. #64 Dejavu,

  70. #68

    Why Sata should retire:-

    1. He is too old
    2. He is too uneducated
    3. He is too arrogant
    4. He is a poor role model (polygamist)
    5. He is stole money during his 10 year rule with FTJ
    6. He is denying his own kids with his second wife

    Why should HH retire:-

    1. In 2006 he clearly stated that only a Tonga must head UPND
    2. His remarks forced all other tribes out of UPND
    3. His remarks forced UPND back to Southern Province
    4. His remarks have branded UPND a Tonga party, only!
    5. He still maintains his stance as he has never withdrawn his remarks

When these guys retire, new young and eductated blood like Yamfwa Mukanga in PF and Gary Nkombo in UPND will be given a chance to take over and redeem these parties from tyranny and tribalism.

  71. Thank you Kyambalesa.

Today i could not drive through Garden Compound because of floods. This PF run city council is quick to sieze goods from our homes when we are a few days late to pay rates and tax, but they are all pointing at government when it comes to fixing drains. What have they done with the money? PF have failed at local government level and this is what we should expect at central government level too.

Chiluba only reacted because of the numerous attacks on his controversial marriage that he got from Sata. Why is Sata not using his iron fist to sort out the councilors who are squandering rates & tax at the council? Why is he desperately focusing on discrediting the retired and tired Chiluba?

Sata has a lot to lose where Chiluba has nothing to lose!

  72. There is a lot of pain being felt by PF over Chiluba’s support for RB.

If FTJ was not influential, Sata would have ignored him. Sata knows that he owes a lot of his support to FTJ. If Sata was not losing support to RB, he would have not reacted. All of this proves that FTJ is still a major player in our system of politics. RB knows this, Sata knows this and even Fred Mmembe knows this! FTJ would have been a non-entity if PF had not dragged him in desperation to campaign for them in 2006.

In 1996, Sata worked to bar KK from standing and today, Sata is being barred by the same law.

In 2006, Sata used FTJ to get voter support away from MMD and today, RB is doing the same to get voter support away from PF.

Rule:- What goes around, comes around!

  73. In Bemba they say “dont defecate where you eat”.

Sata is defecating on Chiluba after eating from him just like Levy did in 2001.

    Shame!

I support the Presidential Education clause. It will bring the youth out and bury the old.

    This is what Zambia needs.

  74. Absolutely on the dot #91.

PF & Sata are affected by FJT’s support of RB & MMD.

What goes around, does come around!

  75. #60 JK, I agree with you.

I voted for PF in 2006 and 2008.

After this nonsense from a leader who wants to be president, i think i’ll support RB in 2011.

There is no alternative to 20 years of MMD and a 73 year old president in RB.

Maybe 2016 will give us better and younger politicians with brighter ideas to replace these who have failed 3 times to remove MMD.

  76. I’ll be glad to vote with you on polling day.

There is nothing better than winning by saving Zambia from tribalism and old crooks.

We need parties and leaders with real vision for a better Zambia and not recycled police constables from our colonial rulers.

I am Bemba and I am proud that i support our President.

  77. #73 What are you talking about? Hatontola is a member of the intelligentsia, my foot!
I have no further comment for you, sir.

  78. So if Chiluba’s statement has not hurt ba Sata or any other PF zealot, did it call for a full comment by Hakatotontola something like that and other bloggers? For uncle Sata to recoil like he has and walk away with his tail in between………I am now convinced this “Kafupi” is still a force in our politics.
Give me RB anytime 2011, 2016, 2021 until you PF/UPND zealots come to your senses and offer something tangible!

  79. Aha.. 10 paragraphs full of smoke and grimace- meant to decry FTJ’s “noise”- better get your complaint better articulated.
The only one thing from Chiluba’s “noise” you don’t even know you touch was ‘title deeds’…
Poor piece of writing- unworthy of publication. Goes to show what ‘journalism’ obtains at LT.

  80. #92, the fact the writer of this article is a Tonga does not mean that he is a tribalist. Please refrain from tribal blogging. From your comments, its clear that you are tribal. I am Bemba, but I salute him for his inteligence

  81. ‘Fair to say that FTJ has reached a point of diminishing returns to be deemed politically impotent and strategically stale’.

Mr Hantola, in english the sentence above is self defeating to the point you meant to make.To be fair, it does not make sense, but it can be misconstrued to mean Mr chiluba should NOT be deemed politically impotent and strategically stale. I dont think thats what you wanted to say,my dvise to you is therefore to think in Tonga (well, inevitably), pen the stuff in english, then read through and see if it would still make sense in tonga. Nkhuyuma-yuma badala!

  82. Well done Mr Hatontoa your article is full of sense and i wish Mr Kafupi can read it. You have rightly put him where he belongs. To Mwata, my friend your support for your friend Kafupi FJT seems to be an exercise in futilty. I say so because the person you support so much has no morals at all.Of all the things how on earth can you deny your biological father? Can call these morals? You referred to the bible about marriage. Let me remind you that Mr Sata is an ordinary member of the church and the church has its way of handling such issues if at all they are true. But for one to grab someone’s wife is worse off. The bible does not encourage divorce. Any one who marries off someones wife commits aldutery. Sata committed adultery and stopped but the born again pastor has continued commiting.

  83. There is no morality at all in this man. Personally i see this as areason why he so close with RB apart from saving him from going to chimbokaila, how can RB also marry a wife younger than his children? May be even thier wives are even older than the first lady. I think Mwata you have missed the point. Let us be objective. The other day this minister of community development was even boasting that he has three wives and he is a leader in RB’s government. Where does that leave Mr Sata? I dont support polygamy personnlaly but has nothing to do with poverty we wallowing in. We want solutions to these problems not the nonsense comming from your boss Kafupi FTJ. So my brother just own up and start seeing sense.

  84. #104 and 105, we need just two more Zambains like you, then Zambia will be a good place. Thank for for sharing your wisdom with us

  85. 91
    # 91 Pa Zed- If the Pact was not influential MMD could not have hired a thief called Chiluba from DRC to decampain the two leaders HH and MCS. You see?

  86. Chilubal has upset many zambians by stealing Many millions of dollars as per reCord of london judgement,no judge smith who presided on that case described chiluba as an ***** Stupid person who spent 1million dollars on clothes from Belgium bontique when most zambians live on 1dollar perday, judge smith said chiluba was a shame and zambians must know that when wears his shoes and suits they were bought using zambians taxpayers money syphoned through ZAMTROOP account, chiluba must pay back 45million dollars stolen from poor zambians, how do u support such a twitt wanting to dent SATA’s name with a proven record of high perfomance works?I doubt if MMD wil even have above 30 MP’s in next years elections,Let’s vote for an original blueprint zambian with proven loyalt to this country,KK was…

  87. Chiluba is crazy, He appointed Mr. Sata to be the Minister of Health, such a sensitive ministry and he did wonders / delivered. So how come u turn around ka Chiluba Kafupi and say Mr. Sata could not even write??? You I.D.I.O.T. Full stop!!!

  88. Thanks for this good article.
We need people like you to analyse issues objectively.
Chiluba is definetely not worth talking about. He can only impress william and rupia banda

  89. Hantotola, Your article makes sad reading because you are sounding neutral in the way you present your writing. You seem to be politically biased and unreasonable. You are like a pundit who has access to media. This article was to balance both sides concerns and deliberations. Sata is a man all know to be loud-mouthed and uncaring in the way he opens up his mouth. He does not care who degrades to those not in his courts. And politics operate like that sometimes. He pushed Chiluba to be where he is. Chiluba took the heat no more. He just fought back. But who loses more? Chiluba is not aspiring for office, hence,he doesn`t lose anything other than being humiliated. Sata is aspiring for presidency, hence, he should be careful how he handles himself otherwise he will lose again.

  90. CONTINUED: Sata must know that you don`t start a fight you can`t finish. He should not play to the gallery. Let him be focused on his party manifesto. If he continues taking these guys out he will be finished. An old adage says,”if you live in a glass do not throw stones.” Sata is throwing them like crazy. These guys are in power and what they have started doing is to pull from their data base a bit of info about Sata. Just that bit makes people question or even doubt Sata. As far as I am concerned the tables are turning now with that bit of information. The more it comes out the more he will lose face. So, Hantotola, advise your colleague, Sata, to wake up and stop throwing stones. Playing to the gallery will not help him. These are politics. The harder you come the harder the tide.

  91. Hatontola,

Your article looks professional and your analysis seems spot on but you have forgotten one thing, the type and quality of Zambian politics! It is Kaponya style! No real issues but insults, washing dirty linen in public, boasting of what they don’t even have, empty promises based on wishful thinking and more! What would you expect of its leaders, the same mentality! What will become of Zambia? Undeveloped forever! Corruption in such a situation baloons to extreme proportions. I guess Chiluba has the freedom to hold a press conference to settle some matters. We can only analyse but how much value we are adding leaves a lot to be desired, it remains just simple rhetoric! We have heard it before and we will still hear it again and again!
