Fans advise Nkonde and Kasolo to stop squabbles

Share

Zambia Volunteer Soccer Fans Association (ZAVOSOFA ) patron Peter Makembo has urged Football Association
of Zambia (FAZ) Disciplinary Committee Vice chairperson Anthony Kasolo and his boss Sunday Nkonde to stop fighting each other in the media.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS sports, today, Makembo says since Nkonde and Kasolo are both learned lawyer, it was important for the duo to interpret the FAZ constitution in a somber manner.

“ We hope as ZAVOSOFA that the duo will interpret the FAZ constitution in a tangible manner and not sort each other in the media,” he said.

The ZAVOSOFA Patron was reacting to the ongoing wrangle in FAZ executive following its decision to indefinitely suspend Amakumbi Stars proprietor Simata Simata from all football activities for gross indiscipline.

Hardly 24 hours after the Kalusha led FAZ executive’s decision to suspend Simata, Nkonde over ruled the decision saying the FAZ constitution does not give the executive such powers.

However, Kasolo differed with Nkonde’s stand on Simata saying his committee has no powers to overrule the executive committee’s decision.

He explained during weekly press briefing at Football House, yesterday, that Article 20 (1) empowers the executive to suspend any member who violates its obligation. Article 20 (1) reads: “The council is responsible for suspending a member.

The executive committee may, however, suspend a member who seriously and repeatedly violates its obligations with immediate effect. “The suspension shall last until the next council meeting unless the
executive committee has lifted it in the meantime.” He also said Article 4 (15 ) also gives powers to the executive committee to suspend a member.

However, Makembo says his Association has welcomed the Simata – FAZ saga adding that both parties area exercising their constitutional rights of opinion. “It is healthy. Simata was once a FAZ executive official and thus knows the constitution as much as the current Kalusha led executive knows full
well, “he said.

Makembo said fans were watching the Simata – FAZ saga with keen interest adding that it was his personal prayer that the issue is settled amicably.

  1. Nkonde has not done anything wrong if you have followed this matter but Kalusha and his clowns the thing is that Kasolo is Kalusha’s right hand man chola boy.

  2. This is what happens when you have spineless jackals holding positions with saving the aspirations of their bosses as a means and end to itself. Kasolo is what I would equate to Tetamashimbaz or Mulongotiz of this political world, empty buckets whose soul purpose in their position is bootlicking! Well, Simata Simata is not that Post reporter Kalusha slapped in the face and got away with it, be it legally or physically, Simata will strike back at Bwalya, we kaponya we!

  3. What is happening in FAZ is what they refer to in bemba “bamukol.we ngabafula tabucha bwangu”.There are simply too many big brains(atleast to themselves)in FAZ and each one wants to be hero worshiped. What these guys should not forget is that they are serving there for the interest of the nation not for individual gain.:-?

  4. what is happening in FAZ is too many people eating off the game of football without anything to offer. Kasolo and Kalusha are a good example. only they want to monopolise the pillaging of the spoils. anything Kasolo says to support Kalusha is out of this long standing partinership.

  5. Kasolo is being used by Kalu. If Kasolo was a real comittee member, thier different interpretation of the law should have been done inhouse and not holding press conferences.

    Facts
    – Kasolo and Kalusha co owned Great Eagles football club
    – Kasolo worked as Manager at Kalusha Foundation between 2003 and 2008
    – Kasolo was picked by Kalu to be GS at FAZ
    – Both are crooks

  6. Kasolo and his friend Kalusha should realize that FAZ is not personal to holder. They should be accountable to the people. Kalusha should accept positive criticism in a democracy of ours, instead of turning himself into a dictator. You guys, respect Simata’s opinions. Anyway, what goes round comes around like Roy Keane once said. It is sad that our soccer standards are falling yet chaps are busy quarreling like school boys. Kalusha, if you are hiding things under the carpet, they shall be exposed one day when you leave that office. My advice to you is that, you should listen to people’s views and stop being arrogant since you are in a public office. Do not run FAZ like a personal farm.

  7. Simata is just too talkative. He is always criticizing even where there is no need. Why can’t he give his friends a break so that they concentrate on building soccer standards in the country. He is a Coach for his club of which am sure no striker is scoring goals of which the country is lacking. What we need a constructive criticism from coach giving us a hope that we will get strikers that can score goal and no those petitions we are hearing about in the newspapers. We are sick and tired of people who talk and talk.

Please Simata what we are looking for are players like Rooney in Zambia and its only you the coaches that can produce those on thje pitch and not petty Petitions.

  8. No.9 you are off the mark please find out why people are at Kalusha and company’s necks. Like it or not Simaata has a point here and that Kasolo is a lawyer with no self respect to be used by Kalusha’s small brain. Kalusha’s ending at FAZ will be very bad from the way he is going about runing FAZ like some personal bussiness he must know that we the educated are watching .

  9. Remember what I said about lawyers? they have a reputation and pretend to be the smartest people around. If Nkonde had any respect for himself and the people he works with he should have taken the appeal from his friend Simataa to the FAZ executive and and sought consensus instead of responding in public with a unilateral decision; otherwise he could have convened a DC meeting, gotten conensus and presented their finding to the FAZ executive; in short he should have followed due process, which I am very sure does not include a unilateral lifting of a suspension through the press. Mr Nkonde is more guilty than the people who started this whole thing. If he has no respect for Kalusha and the executive its right that he steps down and waits for an opportunity to contest for President himself

  10. The Nkonde-Kasolo spat is just a side show. The main issue here is whether Kalusha Bwalya has anything to contribute to Zambian football. He is facing revolt in the ranks and, in true Zambian style, he starts shutting people up in the only way he knows – by suspending them FOR LIFE. How can FAZ start interfering with club owners and administrators? It would be unthinkable for the English FA to suspend Sir Alex Fergusson for life unless he commits a serious criminal offence. The truth is KB has nothing to contribute to the development of football in Zambia. Distinguished businessmen need to take back control of FAZ. Remember the days of successful businessmen like Tom Mtine?

  11. If Kalusa is left to his own devices, Zambia will be suspended from FIFA and CAF. Kenya have only just been re-admitted after many years in the wilderness. Kalusha uses FAZ for his own personal ends, i.e. maintain his profile in world football (FIFA and CAF). This is frowned on by FIFA.

  12. Wait a minute, what happened here? Kalu and company suspends Simata for life form all football activities.
Why? because he is supporting or has instituted impeachment proceedings against Kalu and co.
Why single out Simata? because he has brought the game into disripute.
How/Reason? because he is the most talkative one amonst all
Was procedure followed? apparently, this is where the problem comes in. It seems Kalu and company did this thing in a haste invloving only few interested members who are being pertitioned by the so called loud mouths.
What about March AGM? It would seem only logical that the case of Simata be brought before the March AGM just as Kalu and company’s pertitions have been advocated. But alas, Kalu and co. wants to do it their own way, shut up any dissident voice.

  13. Listers,
While we recognise the attacks on Kalu by Post scribe I found the comment by Chapadongo really professional. I would also like Mukoka to direct his report to Police or DEC or he should change profession to investigator.
