Opposition Patriotic Front (PF) Matero Member of Parliament (MP) Faustina Sinyangwe appealed to President Rupiah Banda to consider repairing the dilapidated road infrastructure in her constituency.

Mrs. Sinyangwe named the most affected roads as Matero/Chingwere, Salim and Zingalume including all the feeder roads in her area.

Mrs. Sinyangwe lamented that these roads were damaged and needs urgent repairs.

Mrs. Sinyangwe made the remarks during a church service held the Bible Gospel Church in Africa (BIGOCA) Matero congregation in Lusaka today at attended by President Rupiah Banda.

She said the roads were unbearable to motorists carrying pregnant mothers to clinics in the area.

The MP said a good road network was vital to accelerate development not only in Matero Township but the nation as a whole.

In response, President Rupiah Banda assured the MP that the roads would be work on soon after the rain season was over.

Mr. Banda directed Works and Supply Minister Mike Mulongoti to prioritise roads to be worked on and start rehabilitating the bad road infrastructure in Matero Constituency.

Mr. Banda said government was committed to taking development to Matero constituency and other parts of the country.[quote]

He urged the opposition to put aside their colour, race, religion and political affiliation and concentrate on developing the country.

And Works and Supply Minister Mike Mulongoti in a separate interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today said his ministry would implement the presidential directive as soon as funds are available.

Mr. Mulongoti however, took a swipe at PF Councillors in Matero Constituency for working in isolation and not involving government in their development al programmes..

Mr. Mulongoti said his Office is open to work with everybody who was serious in terms of identifying need areas.

  1. C’mon..it shouldn’ take RB’s directives….these programmes should be planned, budgeted for and implemented without his politicking ! 😮

  2. Was the church the right platform for all this? Such confusion… there’s no reverence for God any more.. folk are grabbing any opportunity to campaign or counter-campaign, never mind where they happen to be…

  3. There is a difference between a father Christmas and a President! A president presides over the country and not appease people that do what he wants. Bana Sinyangwe has aways been a failure even when she worked in education was a let down to teachers.Without Sata she probably will just be an ordinary person.

  4. It does not make sense that ministers have to wait for presidential directives to do their work. Mulongoti, stop the arrogance and get on with the job.

  5. Matero was not only the heart of independence struggle but a consolidated power base UNIP. MMD with solidarity of nationalist liberation patriots should take it back. PF is a circus of anti independence, anti nationalist zambian legion starting with Sata who sold out his soul to his colonial masters as their mole.

  6. Senior citizen have a life of your own mudala. Judgment day is soon coming, this deliberate stance you have will soon haunt you. Not everyone advocates for Sata, but you will do better by showing your critical mind on both sides, the ruling party and the opposition. What is expected from a senior citizen is much more than your one sided inclination. Grow up mudala, I know you can do better.

  7. SENIOR CITIZEN We missed you for a while!! Welcome back, Your contributions are eye catching hence bloggers have to respond to them however, most of them are on the opposite of sense, prophets of doom etc. Enjoy the week

  8. Stay in denial and prepare for humility, Zambia has one and only one democratically functional party to move the country forward & MMD of RB is that party.Fantasising oneself with views of an imagined community of losers is not synonymous with rational actors. In a mature democracy as ours the space created invites all kinds of dreamers into rattling goons of vanity but the wise know where to vest their support valuably. You expect me to waste my time covering the woes of an adulterous moral hazard who cannot even write a single national interest sentence? You expect me to rally around an anti progressive tribal warlord or a sold out mole of Tawanese. I’m a progressive pragamatist that put the nation first before self. Expect nothing but a rally around progressive Zambians.

  9. I challenge anyone here including Telephore Mpundu with his tribal war to guide me the alternative to MMD and RB. Show me why the alternative and in what way its better. I’m a pragmatic rational actor model i start to debate you on your recommendation. Insults and sponsoring rascals is not one thing that turns out a game changer to me.Zambia is bigger than your tribal interest for me to ignore the fact that there is no alternative to MMD.I want to find a strong Zambia for team of emerging Generational change leaders to take over in 2016 Gratefully and democratically from the liberational era leadership of RB. My Generation of leaders will treat them with dignity and value in their retirement and choke out out of politics the demon spirit of Sata and Ichilem that evolve around insults.

  10. Where the matero roads budgeted for considering that the financial year started on 1st January 2010 or did the president mean the end of the 2011 rainy season?

  11. Can someone please tell me, senior citizen is a malfunctional machine created by RB. Its like the password to this same machine has been forgotten, hence, the reason we see postings on every thread on LT.

  12. I’m saddened that my President Ba Sata has been reduced to one of the “Theoretical politicians” as HH and Nawakwi no different to myself, Kalos2000 and all dreamers we have been dreaming with in hope of what has proved a wishful thinking cruiz.

  13. I know this road in Matero, last time I visited the minibus drivers were refusing to reach the place, because of the bad roads. There is no proper system in the country, do the councils exist? I did mention last time that Edith Nawakwi uses this road every day as she has a farm in that area. Luckily for her she has a 4×4 car and she is able to pass through. Why did the MP appeal to the President when there is a minister in charge, and by way the President is off to Malawi!

  14. His Excellency President Rupiah Bwezani Banda is a total failure,a let down and hard to defend.I`ve acted as a troll on this blog and been exposed as a govt agent. Please, bloggers help me as my employment is at stake.I`ve got a family to feed.Iam sorry for acting so immaturely and devoid of logic. We all love Zambia but I need to survive too. It`s been difficult for me to come out this way but the writing is on the wall as the 2011 elections loom.

  15. # 15,

You are another dreamer failing in your effort to confuse us.You have just lost your hope.Who doesn’t know that the likes of MMD Bootliker (SA), Saint (USA), Veteran (USA), Mr.Capitalist and Senior Citizen (USA) are signature MMD officials here? With all the hopelessness in our camp that has disgracefully failed to defend or mend our embattled Sata, you think these MMD guys who have been behind RB’s undeniable 2011 victory campaign would think or talk the opposite of what retains the momentum? Try another one.

  16. People, I thought all roads are budgeted for? Is the man RB going to act on impulse when dealing with national issues. If Veteran thinks we are stupid, he has got a shock coming soon. GRZ must work on all roads not by mick mouse reactions NO.

  17. #14Leroy Mwansa- My brother councils are innocent on this one. GRZ gave all the powers to RDA to maintain all roads in the country. RDA hired an Indian owned company to repair the roads which have already developed pot holes less than 2 years. Just go North Rise Ndola you will cry when you see the state of the road that was “repaire” in 2007. RB is just passing the blame in order to dent the opposition held councils. He knows the truth, but like Lucifer lied to Eve, he is creating false stories to save his neck.He should explain why RDA are building a multi million dollar complex insteady of repairing roads.

  18. It’s really a cool and useful piece of info. I am satisfied that you just shared this useful information with us. Please keep us up to date like this. Thank you for sharing.
