Mpombo should resign, says veteran MMD member

Share

A veteran politician in Mansa has demanded thatformer Home Affairs Minister George Mpombo resigns from the ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD)MMD for his continued attacks on President Rupiah Banda.

Paul Kalwa, one of the founders and former leader of MMD in Mansa, alleged that Mr. Mpombo lacked
morality, respect for the ruling party, and he should therefore, resign.

Mr. Kalwa told ZANIS in Mansa today that it was unacceptable for Mr.
Mpombo to continue uttering unfounded criticisms against President Banda.

He said it was regrettable that the former Home Affair Minister has
resolved to keep attacking President Banda when he willfully resigned from
his ministerial position.

“Mpombo resigned from his ministerial position. President Banda did not
sack him, he just accepted his resignation. So why has he continued to hate
RB and hail insults at the President,” he asked.

He charged that Mr. Mpombo was one of the founders of the United Party for
National Development (UPND) and was always seeking guidance from the UPND
which he said allegedly advised him to resign.

Mr. Kalwa alleged that Mr. Mpombo did not understand the constitution of
MMD hence his unfounded criticisms on the president.

He said if Mr. Mpombo had been the member of MMD from the beginning and
had studied the constitution, he would have been a disciplined member of
the party.

He said it would be better to replace Mpombo than the party to
tolerate his criticisms on the president and the entire party leadership.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kalwa has urged the opposition Patriotic Front (PF)
President Michael Sata to learn to appreciate.

Mr. Kalwa wondered why Mr. Sata failed to appreciate what the late
President Levy Mwanawasa did for him.

He said it was wrong for the PF leader to say that his evacuation to South
Africa when he suffered a heart problem was mere public relations gimmick.

He reminded Mr. Sata that he was evacuated to South Africa because he was
entitled to it.

He said Mr. Sata had served in government before as a cabinet minister and
was, therefore, entitled to such medical attention.

“Mr. Sata does not appreciate and so I am urging his followers to refrain
from his leadership or else they will be misled,” he said.

  1. Paul who? There is a song by one Teddy Chilambe (MHRIP) which says something about “wecipuba isuka umutwe…”

  2. Lt -as usual very poor journalistic skills and editing. George Mpombo has never been minister of home affairs. His last portfolio was defence. He has also been at energy, Southern and Copperbelt provinces.

  3. HONESTLY MPOMBO MUST EXIHIBIT MINMUM LEVELS OF INTEGRITY AND MATURITY.IF YOU DONT BELIEVE IN WHAT YOPUR FRIENDS ARE DOING RESIGN LIKE MWANAWASA DID AS VICE PRESIDENT.MPOMBO DOESNT BELIEVE IN HIMSELF SO HE HAS TO MAKE NOISE WHILE HANGING OLN BUT THIS WILL NOT WORK HIM JUST WATCH HOW HE DROP OFF.I WILL RESPECT HIM IF SAYS I DOMNT BELIEVE IN WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND I RESIGN.
LOOK AT HIS RECORD .AS MINISTER OF ENERGY THE NATION APPEALED TO MWANAWASA TO FIRE HIM CAUSE OF FAILURE TO RUN THE MINISTRY BUT CAUSE OF HIS TIES WITH LATE PRESIDENT HE WAS ONLY TRANSFERED.I WONDER HOW POPULAR HE IS MAY THATS WHY HE IS FEARING TO RESIGN CAUSE HE KNOWS HE HAS NO SUPPORT.
ABOVE I PRAY THAT GOD CAN RAISE LEADERS WHO CONSISTENT AND FULL OF INTEGRITY

  4. Late President did his part by facilitating Mr Sata”s treatment in RSA using tax payers’s money. Why are we quarelling has if it was personal money involved. Let us allow our president’s soul rest in peace.

  5. #6…once upon a time I remember Zambians saying imagine Sata as President, now he is a whisker away! Zambians lack seriousness if Sata can have so much support even a dimwit like Mpombo can be pres.

  6. NUMBER 8: ICIMUTWE ULEKE UBUFI SATA IS INCOMING PRESIDENT NO RIGGING HABIT THIS TIME AROUND WE WILL NOT TOLERANT NONSENSE FROM ECZ ANY ATTEMPT TO RIG THE ELECTION IN FAVOUR OF THIS STUPID GOVT. ZAMBIA IS FOR PF-UPND GOVERNMENT NOW. IS THSI NOW ALSO MMD CARDE MOUTH PIECE OR WHAT I NEED HELP? THERE IS NO NEWS WORTH READING EVERYDAY.

  7. #5: Mpombo has demonstrated that even if he lacks administrative skills, he had the courage to remove himself from good ministerial position on principle grounds. This has given him the freedom he needs to wage war against everything he did not agree with. I think he is doing what many of these spineless politicians ought to be doing. Be man about what you believe in change what you don’t like from within. Show your colleagues the fire in your belly.

#1’s got it right. These guys are not going anywhere – mo more political prostitution! Stay when it fits you and leave when it does not? No, No, No! Fix the SH!T. After all it is YOUR sh!t.

  8. All you guys up here living in diaspora don’t have guts. I realibly informed that some of you just wash dishes in restaraunts and communal kitchens. Therefore just come back to mother Zambia. Your level of reasoning is very shallow.

  9. @6 The ‘DIMWIT’.. Is BOLD… He Dropped his Appointment, In order to Speak freely bout the DIM side of MMD…. INTOLERANCE is an ailment, in some way. And thats is what is being exhibited by those who are attacking George Mpombo , senselessly….. He is Doing Well to Fighting From Within….. This Mr Kalwa Or What ever he is Called is a COWARD!!!!! Am sure he Was Just told To UTTER something so as to show that the MMD Know what is going on… He even has his Facts Wrong, I have been Following Mr Sata s statement and i remember him Appreciating what the Govt Did For Him when he Was sent to SA, He was unconscious en route, when he came Back He insisted to See Mr Mwanawasa Personally, Want to Know what he Said,,, Sorry The DEAD STAY DUMD, May The Soul of Mr Mwanawasa Rest in Peace..

  10. On “A veteran politician in Mansa has demanded thatformer Home Affairs Minister George Mpombo resigns from the ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD)MMD for his continued attacks on President Rupiah Banda“, I think Former Minister Mpondo was at Energy and Defence not Home Affairs.

As for the “He charged that Mr. Mpombo was one of the founders of the United Party for
National Development (UPND) and was always seeking guidance from the UPND
which he said allegedly advised him to resign,
” this does not matter since any Zambian has freedom of association and can change associations any time.

    Have a blessed day.

Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.

  11. “He said if Mr. Mpombo had been the member of MMD from the beginning and
had studied the constitution, he would have been a disciplined member of
    the party”

Which means all who joined MMD later are not disciplined and also implies that the latest to join are more indiscipline and I guess the No.1 (Alabee) falls in this later category.

  12. mpombo! mpombo! mpombo! mpombo! mpombo! mpombo! mpombo! mpombo! mpombo! mpombo! Impombo! impombo! impombo! impombo! iyo Impombo Iyo! impombo……….bamoneni …….is this the person who should preoccupy our minds….the ***** was unkown until by dint of favouritism he became minister.Am sure he is regreting having left government……again down he goes into eternal oblivion………..
