Card Campaign is about violence, Kunda

Share

Vice President George Kunda

Vice-President George Kunda described as “provocative and annoying” an anti-government red card campaign that is being spearheaded by Change Life Zambia executive director Father Frank Bwalya.

Mr Kunda told hundreds of Copperbelt residents that the red card campaign is about violence and that it is aimed at disrupting peace in the country.

“The red card campaign is provocative and annoying. It is aimed at diverting Government attention from attending to real issues affecting our people.

“I know most of our supporters are annoyed because the Copperbelt Province is a fertile ground for the MMD,” Mr Kunda said.

He said the MMD is gaining ground on the Copperbelt and that the opposition political parties, especially the PF-UPND pact, will be crushed in next year’s general elections.

Mr Kunda said he was encouraged that when he arrived at the meeting he found people waving white cards, which symbolise peace.

He warned that those that are promoting lawlessness and violence in various communities will be dealt with by the law.

“President Rupiah Banda stands for investment, development and progress. He is focused in his vision to develop the country. I have worked with President Banda, he works hard and he loves this country. Mr Michael Sata is a failure and Zambians have continued rejecting him.

“The miners that lost their jobs during the recession are being re-employed by various mining companies. Investment in the mining sector is still growing. Government is improving the lives of Zambians by creating jobs for them. Zambia is admired by foreigners because of the way the government is managing the affairs of the country,” he said.

Mr Kunda said investors from various parts of the world are investing in the country because of the good polices that the government is implementing.

[pullquote]“We are looking after your money very well. It takes time to develop the country. We also want councils to play their role in the development process of the country. They receive huge sums of money and they can use part of the funds they receive from mining companies to improve service delivery.[/pullquote]

He said the government is committed to developing the road infrastructure and that it had signed an agreement with the Japanese government to rehabilitate some roads in Ndola and Kitwe.

Mr Kunda said the government is taking development to all parts of the country, noting that hospitals, clinics and schools are being built in all the districts in Zambia.

He said people throughout the country are either joining or rejoining the MMD because they are happy with development projects taking place in various parts of the country.

He said Zambians wanted to associate themselves with political parties such as the ruling MMD because of its commitment to addressing the welfare of the people.

“We are looking after your money very well. It takes time to develop the country. We also want councils to play their role in the development process of the country. They receive huge sums of money and they can use part of the funds they receive from mining companies to improve service delivery.

Mr Kunda said President Banda’s foreign trips are meant to attract investment and wondered why some Zambians are criticising these outings.

The agricultural sector is doing well. We have so much maize including other cash crops. We will be exporting some of these crops. We used to import maize when some opposition leaders were in government,” he said.

Mr Kunda also took a swipe at Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) president Edith Nawakwi for her continued attacks on the government, especially President Banda.

He charged that some FDD members have petitioned for the removal of Ms Nawakwi as FDD president.
“We want to give respect to our women in Zambia and we are committed to working with them in developing this country and they are useful partners in the development process of the country. But we are wondering what is giving Ms Nawakwi courage to insult government,” he said.

Mr Kunda said President Banda’s foreign trips are meant to attract investment and wondered why some Zambians are criticising these outings.
He maintained that there is confusion in the UPND and that the party will soon disintegrate.

He said the PF-UPND pact does not have any agenda for the development of the country and that he has been vindicated by Senior Chief Mushili’s son, Prince Robert’s resignation from the UPND.Mr Kunda donated K10 million to the MMD on the Copperbelt for party organisation.

He said Government has set aside about K15 billion for the empowerment of youths and women in the country.

  1. Ba Kunda sir in what way is it about violence pliz boss, you are the only one who is talking of violence

  2. Spot on your Honor. These antiquated antics by colluding losers using poor ex-priest Bwalya are not only anarchistic in design but evidently an agenda of total national disorder. Theirs is primised on Rwanda were Mwewa and Bwalya served at the peak of the mayhem. They hope to see a patriotically resigned citizenry that will error to condone their planned wave of violence, hatred and civil war against peacefully harmonized law abiding constitutionalists in and around the county. They have run out of ideas, human love for every life and indeed national interest.Theirs is a campaign of civil strife, mayhem, despondence, anarchy, lawlessness and apocalypsy of brother against brother, neighbor against neighbor.

  3. Ba KK nabo balekonkamo fye tafipwa kulowa zoona. He used to be vocal during Kafupi’s and Levy’s reigns, what has changed to the so called statesman. I hope he’s been advising ‘Mr holiday is forever’ privately to scale down on his flying obsession and if he’s been advising then it’s not working because RB is having non of it he’s on a serious mission to rediscover the world. Unless ba KK makes his stand publicly on the wanton abuse of scare resources that is currently underway am sorry but i’ll regard him as a selfish old man that has never loved Zambia and should stop reciting the old and tired ‘ love God and love your neighbour’ slogan because he just annoys me he means something totally different every time he mumbles those words. PLEASE ADVICE YOUR FELLOW UNIPIST

  4. #3 VETERAN
You’re a shameless lair, refusing tyranny and refusing merceless wanton abuse of resources isn’t brewing anarchy. You are currently in USA, now imagine what would happen to Obama and his party if they started abusing power refusing to grant gays or civil rights activitist permits to hold peaceful rallies or demos, imagine what would happen if Obama was ever in the air to noway with no solid vision for that great nation, the consequences would be too ghastly to even contemplate. Now are Americans more human than us, the answer is a big red NO except maybe for self proclaimed dogs. The Bembas say ‘ kuti wasafya kapoli abwekela mumatipa’ rougly translated ‘ you can give a wild pig bath but immediately you finish it goes back in the mud’ So you are a washed kapoli in USA…

  5. What? imagine LT has edited P.I.G and G.A.Y. whats wrong using these words in the context i did. UNBELIEVABLE

  6. # 3 veteran can you explain to us how the red card camaign promotes violence. Whats violent about flashing a red card.
Iam not sure whether Kunda is talking about the same Zambia that we live in. Is he serious about what he is saying or its just that he has to say it to gain some support. We really are a docile nation that we can be taken for a ride the way our leaders are taking us.

  7. CLOSE to a thousand Mufulira residents on Friday scrambled for red cards from Catholic priest Fr Frank Bwalya who was in the area to distribute the cards in protest against President Rupiah Banda’s administration. Watch out, its gaining momentum

  8. It seems all forms of criticism & protests in Zambia are referred to as violence, these are the same chaps that call pictures of women in labour as being pornographic, what kind of people do we have in Zambia now.
I don’t see anything wrong with the ‘red card’ campaign as long as there is no violence involved, anyone has the right to decampaign the current govt but it’s up to the people to judge if the ciriticism against the govt is contructive,it is also a wake up call for the govt and the ruling party to pull up their socks as they are now failing to meet the people’s expectations.
There just too many ‘yes sir’ chaps in govt and the party so no one has the guts to advise Rupiah Banda to get off his self destructive path if he really wants to win the next election even though he…

  9. you are busy making noise that red card is violence while its is gaining ground, you better start making a better way of handling your popularity, soon you will see your wife and children with a red cards and don’t say i was not told. Ask Kaunda, he knows that his families used to chant the our from his state house kitchen and dining. when change is due no mere rhetoric can intimidate it. You better shut up. RED CARD YOU.

  10. #Vetaran
Ba veteran you are really such a disappointment to all patriotic Zambians and suffer from a disease which is a failure to comprehend matters. The Red Card campaign is a non violent move to tell the whole nation that the MMD RB Govt has failed us all and should not be returned into power come 2011. Uliwa bufi mambala iwe..busy bringing issues of rwanda and trying to mislead everybody. Wekapubw we!! There is no violence except the violence which is always perpetuated by the MMD as usual.

  11. “Mr Kunda said he was encouraged that when he arrived at the meeting he found people waving white cards, which symbolise peace”. Genius!

Am I missing something here? Is it the colour that has irked the MMD so much? May be people should try black ones! lol!:d

  12. I think MMD has made this red campaign popular. They should have ignored it and it would have died a natural death. Now ever disgruntled Zambian will be carrying a red card!

  13. Politics in the morning, politics at noon and politics till the sun goes down.

When do people work on their policies. The great book says, “By their fruits we shall know them.” No one needs to tell us what they are doing. Let us see for ourselves.

  14. and i quote “Mr Kunda said President Banda’s foreign trips are meant to attract investment and wondered why some Zambians are criticising these outings.” i can’t believe, somuch time in power and RB is still trying to attract investment..i thought we were suppose to be hearing of program implementations and broadening/widening economic activities and not trip after trip in the name of investment attractions..Ba Banda niba MAGNET NOMBA nomba? very shallow of our VIP.RED CARD to VIP! RED CARD to RB!! RED CARD to MMD!!! ZWAAAA plunderers!

  15. This Kunda is NOT a politician. He has no clue about politics. The red Card Campaign is harmless if and if you can ignore it completely. Just let him distribute them and say nothing about it and see what happens. If I were an adviser to RB, I would even assign officers to accompany father Bwalya wherever he goes to make sure there is peace and order. But knowing MMD opportunism, there could even be some MMD people supporting Fr. Bwalya all out of bitterness, jealous, malice or envy. Zambians are really amzing people. They pretend to be smiling with you but if you were to find out what is their hearts, you would be shocked – evil thoughts all over. What a people!!! No genuine frank talk but all pretency and cowardicee. Zambians are NOT peaceful BUT cowards. Malicious, Jealousy and envious

  16. The indellible histories of all these thugs spearheading this so called “red Card” to bowhere starting with Sata, Mwewa, Kabanda, Bwalya and Mpundu is characte are characterized of tribal hatred, factionalism, religious counterfeitism, unpatriotism, anachronistic violent strategies, hatred for a unitary state, macheting dissenters, abusing the dead in their grave as evident by Mpundu on Mwanawasa. If they can hate the dead in their Grave and call on death of all none PF leaders who come from other tribes according ex-communicated priest Bwalya two months ago, what can the nation expect from this callous anarchists of losers? Though heading nowhere, these criminals’ passion is to plunge Zambia in turmoil so that neighbor and bother can start lynching each other.See if ever their kids…

  17. These callous thugs are counting on the Sata chawama macheting strategy against any law abinding Zambian and indeed all our poor mothers whom they aim to r-a-p-e and burn in their imaginary mayhem. The campaign for violence has started with the sending of PF arsonists against unarmed President Chiluba at BOZ’s Ndola guest house. They are none registered voters shunning the ballot and electoral process yet they think they can change Government through violence and hatred. They are naturally all anti Zambia, anti unitary state, anti constitutional democracy cult theorists who still dream that the patriotism of this country will ever freeze to betray the constitution for their nefarious extraconstitutionalisn nonsense.

  18. ‘Musiyeni Katyoka azatyoka yeka’ literally meaning ‘Ignore somebody until they self destruct’ – Kunda and RB must be advised. Work on development projects that will inspirebpeople and let people judge. For example, where Bwalya goes distributing cards, you go there with your cadres to go and help marketeers clean the surrounding and collect garbage. If father bwalya goes to a School, you also go there with your party cadres to help the production unit. And so on, then leave it up to the people to judge. Talking and talking will NOT help the party in power because yours is to deliver and talk is for the Opposition. Do you understand Mr. VIP (Very Ignorant People).

  19. Politics can really make once a respectable man beacme a foolsh person in the face of all once his clents. Kunda was an outstanding lawyer witn so much respect from the masses. Now, look at how an ***** he has become. Does Kunda honestly think Zambians are so blind that they can not see what is happening? Leave alone the aparent poverty so evident that even me in the diaspora can strongly feel it. God will surely fight for all my brothers and sister back in Zambia. With all the mistakes they have committed they still want to be given so more time to steal and destroy our nation. God help us all not to just support blindly.

For more than ten years now, we have been tried and tested by the MMD government. Now we have seen their failures, can we please avoid taking in their appeasments.

  20. My only question is, when do the people have the right to protest? It seems by the lack of logic of some of the i*m*b*e*c*i*l*e*s in gov’t and some i*d*i*o*t*s on here, Zambians should just sit and be force fed the RB b/s. Anyone questioning some of the decisions being made on behalf of the Zambians is called violent. How can it be that this government is always right? How can it be that everyone commenting on these decision somehow has a bone to chew with this gov’t? The only thing I agree with is that Sata is just as wrong for Zambia as RB is. RB has nothing new to offer, never has and never will be. The man’s main preoccupation is jollyriding in the challenger jet which has logged almost as many miles as a commercial jet in the time RB has been “president”.

  21. #18 Veteran
but mwalilwala mu bongo mudala.. i feel for you. you call those spearheading the RED CARD campaign criminals and thugs and rapists. Are you normal in you true self or you are hallucinating? real criminals like RB robbing us flying around, chiluba , Kunda and all the MMD dogs stealing from us through the NCC are busy misusing the tax payers money. Must i remind you of the MMD Cadres who went on national TV to pronouce a plan of gang raping Edith Nawakwi..and the many MMD violence against journalists in front view of the lusaka commading officer?act like a normal person..how can you have a non-listening govt and expect to vote for it into power again.. Ba Veteran i think pa States has made you more dull to the truth.

  22. #22 Most people on this blog just ignore Veteran and Senior Citizen. Balilwala. As for Ka Kunda nakokene kalwele sana. He behaves like an uneducated villager. I suppose he can be forgiven since he is an alumni of Mpatamatu Secondary School, which was always the cinderella school in Luanshya.

  23. # 7 its only a fool like you who doesn t see how Violence can be insited through the red Card campaign. To start with there is a process through to democratically remove an elected Govt. Why not wait for the campaign period and later the voting day. For example if Bwalya the useless Catholic Father who was distributing red cards at the youth day Celebration Venue was attacked by people who were not happy with the red cards who were you going to blame?
This hatred you are preaching and planting among Zambians will be very difficult to remove at some stage. Some of you have dicided you will never go back to Zambia hence you have nothing to loose. But we shall me the rede card squarely no matter what it takes.

  24. #25 its you who sick and shameless. Why are you condeming those who are senci9re about their country. Why are you blaming MMD. Even, you in your family, have you resolved all the problems? Even if its change with Sata, awe bane esheniko fimbi kwena mulibalwele sana

  25. Let people express themselves freely e democracy ba VETERAN, KUNDA & RB. Here in the USA kwaliba na TEA PARTY kanshi maisosele bane icili kumutima chafuma chonse. I admire OBOMA he has a very expensive and beautiful jet but the American people comes first. I wish he was our President… nomba ba Koswe bena akandeke akanono ne chusi sana mukapona pofye. Cut your wings, sit down and work for the betterment of our country. No foreigner can develop our country the answer to development begin with we Zambians ba Banda….

  26. Tribalism and hatred trips the moral and spiritual consciousness of people. The chaps behind these illusions of blazing up Zambia with hatred and extraconstitutional acts have been consumed. Practically this is what sin can do. Sata was a catholic seminarian until his promiscuity hit the public ceiling then he abandoned it at the 11th hour. The other noise goongs all have sired kids, promoted sin, are known for open desecretion of the word of God, and sanctifying each other of sin.Every time hatred and destruction takes over a people, failure and self ruin takes a toll.

  27. There are two arguments here. Just because Sata is not right for Zambia does not make RB right for Zed. RB and Sata are woven from one and the same piece of cloth …. both are dictators to the core and have no concept of democracy. Zambians who think that Sata is their savior from RB are clearly misguided because Sata will be the new RB and even more shrewed. Zambia needs an alternative from all the current bs of MMD, UPND, PF and the like. Right now, RB is a p*u*p*p*e*t of smart people around him. RB himself could careless about anything as long as he is allowed the good life of flying around. I trully believe that George is the p*u*p*p*e*t master pulling RB’s strings.

  28. #27 Naimwebene muli balwele. If people cannot hold peaceful demos like flashing a red card, what do you want them to do? Take up arms? MMD must understand that they are operating in a multi-party democracy. Ubututu bubi sana.

  29. #27 Some of us lived under UNIP nonsense. Unfortunately that is coming back slowly. I do not have a lot of problem with MMD’s economic policies, but the intolerance of Shrek Nyamasoya brings back bad memories.

  30. President Kaunda is the worst president we have ever had in Zambia. If you don’t think so ask me and I shall explain.

  31. Chitapankwa most of these people shall try to justify Kaunda and his supposedly great first leadership, forgive me people but I have to say that UNIP destroyed our ability to think independently on a major scale only blind people shall deny that. How do you explain a one party state? No sane human can say we were not applied with stock margarine on our faces.

  32. it shows a gross misunderstanding of multi party democracy if you think citizens should only speak at the ballot. That is what some of the m*o*r*o*n*s on here are saying. That the people should only speak during elections …. but I have also noticed that some people say the same things regardless of what the topic is which tells me that they cannot compose original thought … everything they say is by the MMD book of platitudes.

  33. #26 MWATAYANZU
you are a very foolish and ignorant sick and uneducated person with a failure to comprehend issues.who told you that the RED CARD campaign is a move to undemocratically remove the MMD RB govt from power?senseless you.its a move aimed at informing the mass and all-well meaning patriotic zambians not to make a mistake of voting for the same MMD RB govt into power come 2011. its a KUYABEBELE campaign. kwena you are dull. what violence? You are really a relative to Veteran and Capitalistwho and you are suffer from the same mouth foolishness. RED CARD!!!

  34. VIVA RED CARD….Red card is not only for MMD, the father said that its for every govt that will be in power and is unable to perform currently its MMD. I’m a big fun of Red Card/Father Bwalya finally we have someone who can speak on our behave without fear.

  35. Looks like next year on February 14th (valentines day) Many people might be arrested as red card campaign. Since many people on that day like to wear red. And also on the day of Pentecost that the catholic Church celebrates people put on red as a symbol of the fire of the Holy Spirit. and it will be coming up soon. Looks like people will be arrested, to say catholic are giving the red card to government. And then they will blame Archbishop Telesphore Mpundu for it.

  36. Tell you what it Looks like next year on February 14th (valentines day) Many people might be arrested as red card campaign. Since many people on that day like to wear red.
