Former Defence Minister George Mpombo has described the decision by the MMD National Executive Committee (NEC)to suspend him as energizing.
Mr. Mpombo who is MMD Kafulafuta Member of Parliament says he is not shaken by the suspension and that he will not be threatened by the party’s action against him.
Asked on whether he will abide by the ten day ultimatum in which to exculpate himself, Mr. Mpombo says he will only comment after studying the suspension letter. The MMD has suspended Mr. Mpombo on four
charges.
Meanwhile, MMD National Chairperson, Michael Mabenga has confirmed Mr. Mpombo’s suspension saying it is long overdue. He says some members of NEC advised Mr. Mpombo to tone down on his attacks on the Republican President Rupiah Banda, but to no avail.

Mr Mpombo is of no value to either MMD or the opposition. Mpombo will now realise how lonely he is. Even the Post will now desert him.

No. 5 ba John Katongo – chizungu and general knowledge! 1) It’s “loyal” not “royal”; 2) any suspended MP can seek recourse from the Courts of Law, as long as the case is before the Courts, the Speaker cannot declare the seat “vacant” in accordance with the Constitution and in keeping with the principle of “separation of powers”. There are some people who are saying LambaS will not vote for Rupiah. Please DO NOT bring down the great Lamba people to such mediocre behaviour. They have been the most untribalistic people of Zambia. They are the true Zambians who believe and practice ONE ZAMBIA, ONE NATION. I am a Lamba by birth and proud of it
#14 You are right. I am not Lamba myself but I am very well aware that the Lambas have done so well in our defense and security apparatus. Lambas are one tribe in Zambia that has names that criss-cross the country but you will not hear a Lamba say I am Mumba but I am not from Eastern Province or Northern Province. They have done so well on One Zambia One Nation. I respect them so much and I am close enough to them to understand them well. Great people – the Mpombos are just trying to drag the good reputation of a tribe to serve their own ego – reject them.
