‘Fr Bwalya wants to contest Kwacha seat’

Share

MMD deputy national treasurer Mwansa Mbulakulima has said Change Life Zambia director Frank Bwalya is seeking to contest the position of Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwacha Constituency in Kitwe in next year’s tripartite elections.

Mr Mbulakulima said he had information the Catholic priest was interested in running for the Kwacha Constituency seat and had decided to start his campaign by insulting the Government of President Rupiah Banda in the media so that he could get support from some opposition politicians who were in the habit of insulting.

He was speaking at the weekend in Kitwe when he met youths during the launch of the MMD talent identification programme in Kwacha Township.
But when contacted, Fr Bwalya said he had no comment to make on the matter.

Among the people who attended the meeting were Copperbelt MMD taskforce chairperson Joe Malanji, party provincial chairperson Joseph Chilambwe, district chairperson George Lungu, and other MMD members.

Mr Mbulakulima said it was sad that Fr Bwalya had decided to ditch the pulpit and join the political platform in the pretext of speaking for the vulnerable people in various parts of the country when in actual fact he just wanted to use the people for his personal ambitions.

“Father Bwalya is trying to ride on the backs of Zambians by telling lies that he is speaking for the voiceless or the vulnerable, but in actual fact his interest is to contest the Kwacha Constituency seat in next year’s elections.

“He has started his campaign by insulting the MMD Government so that he can win the support of some opposition politicians. I just wanted to inform you about the plans of the former priest so that you know and make your own decisions,” he said.

Mr Mbulakulima said the MMD was not scared of anybody since its primary interest was to serve the people of Zambia.

He thanked the Catholic Church for making it clear that the views of individual priests should not be taken as representing the entire church.

He said the statement by the church leadership had cleared a number of things because some individual priests, who were against the MMD Government, were using the Church to fight personal battles.

He said the Government perceived the Catholic Church as a partner in development and so it was irresponsible, unfair and unrealistic for any individual to try and create friction between the two institutions because of personal interests.

However, when contacted for comment, Fr Bwalya said he had nothing to say on the matter.

Meanwhile, the Forum for Progressive Politics (FPP) has advised Roman Catholic Church priests to differentiate their personal views from those of the Church.

FPP interim chairperson Edwin Sakala said in a statement in Lusaka yesterday that Vatican ambassador to Zambia Nicola Girasoli had made it clear that comments from some priests did not represent the views of the whole church.

Mr Sakala said priests engaging the church into politics should resign and become politicians so that they could spare the church from political assaults.

  1. Father Bwalya is trying to ride on the backs of Zambians by telling lies that he is speaking for the voiceless or the vulnerable, but in actual fact his interest is to contest the Kwacha Constituency seat in next year’s elections.

Kwena mu MMD mwaliba ifipuba. What is wrong for Fr. Bwalya to contest? Which MP in Zambia does not ride on the backs of Zambians? Even Banda did the same. What is wrong to add a real voice in Parliament in contrast to that of Machungwa and other PF rebels?

  2. mulelya mweka and when others want to stand as MP’s you say iyo. Who told you that Mbulakulima iwe, amano yachepesha we! In zed politics have been made dirty by chaps like you. So what of shikapwasha, is he not even minister? so to you father bwalya shud concentrate on preaching while u steal while shikapwasha shud continue to poke his nose out into the national treasury, thats fine with you! hypocrite, mulelonga uno mukulo

  3. Kalos, tell these mbulamano mwana. they think zedians are unable to think and they always want to hide in the name of church and politics must not mix, since when? if you dont want the two to mix, then create your own world and pipo as in zed the same pipo who go to church are the voters and so by merely voting they are politicians by default iwe mwansa kabinga

  4. The decision to contest is Fr. Bwalya’s choice. MMD does not have the monopoly to rule Zambia. Fr. Bwalya, a Kwacha raised and Kitwe Boys’ Sec Alumni has all the rights to contest and represent the people of Kwacha and Zambians as a whole. It is not Mbulamano’s decision who stands where and when. The people have a choice. If Bwalya does not meet their aspirations, they will say so by not voting him. Not MMD denying the people their wants. The young man has a vision and like other leaders that foresaw their destinations, he started fighting MMD criminal activities before it even grew into the Banda proportions. That is what leadership is. Banda and MMD does not see a future for the people, for themselves alone. MMD has killed people’s aspirations and Banda has become the vehicle for…

  5. PF has become a hot potato on the political market. Its lack of structures and its poor leadership code make it a target for many who want to aspire for the high office. Soon there will be calls for Sata to retire and let young ones take over. This is were Fr. Bwalya (who has no wife or kids) intends to play his master card. He has already taken away Kitwe from PF. Its just a matter of time.

  6. When did MMD loons become spokes personnel for the opposition? Yangu tata…so that’s how cheap they can lower their butts! uh? 😮

  7. Bushe ubupuba is it contagious or inborn? What does having children got to do with leadership or being a Father in the Catholic Church? Are some people learning about being a Father in Catholic Church for the first time? Just because some old fool in Zambia said it does not make it right or sensible. How does Banda know that the so called kids he has are his? What if they are his neighbor’s? Basically, only the mother is the only who knows some truth about children. Some do not even know. So, aBanda, osa inama that you are the father. Check the DNA of those kids, probably they are your own grand kids or son’s sons.

  8. Iwe mbulakulima, wambeko ululima apa so,uleke ubunangani..uyu mwaka uleisa 2011 nga ubuteko bwenu ubwa MMD bwafuma mu power ukalila ati mwamoneni.bushe aba patili ba Bwalya ngachakweba ati balemona ukutila kuti baleta ubu pusano mu muchitele ya fintu pano isonde nangula mu Kwacha constituency..ninshi balufyania mumitonto nkanishe shenu ba mubulakulima?Bushe shikapwasha te shimapepo nangula reverend?whats wrong with this MMD government kanshi?its full of intimidation and thuggery,i am seeing those day’s when we had those people called ba BY AIR,when one opposes the he/she is in for it,i feel sad at the events and the way zambia is being governed.God save us!

  9. Please by all means, let him test his popularity at the ballot. Let him expose his inefficiency in Kitwe which btw will ignore PF councilors misappropriating funds in KCC by only allocating 13 percent to service provision. Something I find extremely worrying.

I will however caution the people of Zambia from voting for anarchists. IMO, Mr. Frank Bwalya is an anarchist and I hope the people of Zambia don’t get fooled by this anarchist. Even on this blog anarchists have roamed free and are harassing anyone that disagrees with them. Most of them just so happen to support PF. Some even go to the extent of wishing genocide on Zambia whereas others wish death on other people more especially govt officials. It is surprising that these blog anarchists have not been condemned but tolerated.

  10. MMD madness. Last kicks of a dying horse. The guy is FATHER BWALYA, not Mr. Frank Bwalya. People are in denial and soon they start chasing their tails. I have been wondering how many sane people are in MMD. I believe less than six. And not one of the six has ever posted on this blog.

  11. Ba mbulakulima, what is the problem with you. Why does that concern you that Father Bwalya wants to stand in Kwacha? Awe bane respect yourself man. So to you only MMD cadres can stand in Kwacha no any other person? Please give us a break man. HAS MMD NOW REMAINED WITH ONLY DULL PEOPLE? So sad really.

  12. Mr. Capitalist we have to be careful when politicians give us figures. More scrutiny is needed to make a much more ionfomred decision. What we need to find out is the expenditure pattern for all the councils in the country. We need to know what portion of the emolouments went to councilors, council employees and retirees. Once this information is made public then we can criticise with facts. Service provision is paramount but they also need to take care of people who work and have worked for them. A hungry stomach will not just deliver that is why we have mushrooming ugly buildings bcoz pipo want to put food on their tables. We all need to do the right things for this country to move forward and not do things to just please a few pipo. We need to digest properly what we r told.

  13. Guess nothing wrong for Fr. Bwalya to contest. Its within his rights. The fact that RB and the MMD are scared of Fr. Bwalya, the guy is a force to reckon with.

  14. Shikapwasa is a reverand, so what wrongs is Father Bwalya doing?Go go forward Father Bwalya God loves you and you can do it better for your own people that end

#9 Mr. Capitalist- There you go again. For you information no audit has been carried out in the towns mentioned by your president. All the rantings were just political hallusinations. Listen to Dr. Kazonga’s statements to day and read between the lines. Dr. Kazonga claims that all erring councils have been prosecuted so why aren’t the councils mentioned by your RB among those prosecuted and which are these councils? The circus goes on. As fo Frank Bwalya, he is not the first Zambian to change a career. We have seen engineers, change to accounts. We have accountants who have decided to train in medicine so what is wrong with Frank changing his career. By the way there has been no grants from the GRZ to councils that is why some councils(even MMD ones) have not paid wages

  16. Capitalist Why talk about Frank, if you are are not scared of him? We talk about RB because we are the one feeding him from our taxes. So he has toe the line.

  17. Capitalist is a bootlicker and blind to reality. What Talent identification show did MMD have?identification of thugs and dunderheads? Mbulakulima and MMD are scared of any voice that speaks against them. Fr. Bwalya is a lucky man coz now such *****s are promoting his cause by talking about him.
He is free to stand as MP and maybe he can do a better job of representing the people but my guess is that is just cheap propaganda

  18. The fact is RB exposed misuse of funds by councils, have we heard anything from Sata to counter the allegations ? Why dont PF show expenditure in MMD councils ? I doupt that is secret info.
To the topic at hand, Fr bwalya first came out as a clergy carring for the masses. He has tasted power now he wants part of it, do or die zambia. He come up with all these allegations, were is the proof ?He has not once in his genocidal rantings spoke any sense worthy of a politican to be. Lets let farm animals seek public office as long as they are from a certain province, why not. In any case with our mosty illitrate citizenry this western so called democarcy lets any nutcase dupe my pipo. It is sad to see seemingly educated guys not care about the quality of the intended mangers of our country.

  19. Mr capitalist i wnder if you are really in canada, cause your thinking is of somebody who lives in misisi compound. What is wrong with father bwalya contesting in an election?isnt he zambian?if the people of kwacha dont like him they wont vote!!isnt chi big nose shikapwasha a reverand?lord have mercy some people are really i.d.i.o.t.s.Talking about the councils, you call youself capitalist then i gather you are an economist therefore not ignorant to how things work. You are really annoying you LOW EXPECTATION EVER MAZZA FAKA:d

  20. #19 kc to ask PF to expose MMD council finances is very unfair. Sata can not effectively counter the allegations because he is neither a councillor or GRZ man. From mere observation all councils have failed to deliver. Look at Kalulushi, the main road to Lufwanyama has become impassable that now vehicles have resorte to pass through the grave yard.

  21. Excellent. Fr Bwalya would make a great people’s representative and his ambitions should not be hampered by RB and his stooges/minions.

He is Zambian and has a constitutional right to stand for the Presidency or any other Parliamentary position as long as he meets the constitutional qualifications/requirements.

So why shoud the MMD be panicking if Fr Bwalya is not a factor as they claim.

The People of Kwacha will be very lucky if this is true.

  22. Father Bwalya if you are reading this blog, i would advise you to aspire for Presidency, MP is too low. We need a father in State house come 2011. You have passion for the people of Zambia it would’nt be a bad idea.

  23. Why can’t PF supporters debate with civility? Just like your masters, your mouths are rotten. That is why you easily resort to violence and then cry when you are clobbered

  24. The big question is, WHY HAS MMD FAILED TO IMPLEMENT THE DECENTRALISATION POLICY?
Those in MMD know their fear is that Councils will perform better, especially the City& Municipal Councils which are under the opposition, and that would be a threat to the survival of MMD. This is the perception of those in MMD, its sad to have such shallow minded leaders that can hold back the development of the nation for their own benefit at the expense of the masses.
Finally, are MMD controlled Councils doing better than those under opposition?
Can MMD tell us why Councils they control e.g. Kaoma in W. Province, Milenge in Luapula &Isoka have had misappropriation cases (not misapplication) What of AG reports on Central Govt?
Minister of MLGH, who’s MMD, approves all budgets for Councils.

  25. #20 Rat race

Oh please…Go and read my comment on #9 and you’ll see that I have no problem with letting the genocidal ranter Mr. Frank Bwalya contesting the elections. Why did you jump the gun? Are you taking lessons on “How to be a strawman blogger” from Kalos2020?

  26. Iwe ka Mwansa Mbula mano what about your Nevers Mumba whom you have sent to Canada? What about Danny Pule? Shikapwasha can be doubted because he is self proclaimed. But go into the achieves you will find that President Rev. Canan Banana was a clergy.

  27. MMD you are scared of father Bwalya. One man against the whole bunch of MMD. Where ever RB goes talks of Father Bwalya. Now the ministers have joined. So Fr. Bwalya can shake the state house and RB peaceless and sleepless nights. Imagine RB and his ministers eating huge meals only to use the energy to castigate Fr. Bwalya. Go Fr. Bwalya. We are behind you. Nga nabwela bamambala ngefyo manjishiba I will join Fr. Bwalya and give you a good run. You know how I demonstrated with Bashi maini in Luanshya. Mamamama anso. Kwashalafye panono.

  28. Capitalist,

Without me calling you what I think you are, what would you in all fairness call yourself? Oh, before you do that, please take walk to the mirror and ask that thing you see there what it thinks you are. No wonder it takes you 2 hours to watch 60 Minutes on CBS. Slow thinkers.

  29. Kalos2020, remember I told you capitalist is a my friends eight year old boy and still in Kindergarten. Actually he types for his father who also happens to be struggling to get his associate degree at same community college in my neighborhood. Please do not pay attention to him otherwise you will be wasting you time.

  30. Iwe Mwansa Mbulakubyala, Why should it worry you if a Zambian Citizen wants to aspire for political office???? Infact, he may even go for presidency!!!! it is his RIGHT, after all he is on a SABATICAL LEAVE, we!!!!!!:d
