President Rupiah Banda has clarified the move by the ruling MMD to field Zambia’s Ambassador to Libya, Mulondwe Muzungu as MMD parliamentary candidate for Mufumbwe by-election.
Mr. Banda said the people of Mufumbwe demanded that Mr.Muzungu contest the seat on the ruling party ticket as opposed to reports that he was forced to come and contest the seat.
The Republican President said this at a campaign rally to drum up support for the MMD parliamentary candidate in the April 29th by election.
He disclosed that he telephoned Mr. Muzungu four times just to find out whether he was willing to respond to the demands by the people of Mufumbwe.
Mr. Banda dismissed reports that Mr. Muzungu is not happy to be in Zambia.

Mr Muzungu could not be happy because there is no future in our country. I am appealing the government in power to look on the affairs of the people not on themselves thats why many futures leader are still in diaspora seeking green pastures. If you Mr President can look back and see how people suffering in rural areas in town area non progress is seen because all of you go in parliament to chat or discuse issues concerning yourselves because if it is for the benefit of the citizen of our nation it would have shown your progress in 2 years you have being a president. Let build Zambia not to destroy it promote equity, freedom of expresion, human right and all priciples of democracy in the country not dictatoship o autocracy.
BREAING NEWS!

RB: are you willing to stand in Mufumbwe
Muzungu: ummmm yes sir,why not,im honoured your excellency
RB:good, see you soon back home,we need to get on the ground and start campaigns
X 4
as if he would even say NO to a presidential request
loyalty should be to the president, even a DOG is loyal to its master,a request is more like a directive,no room to say NO
Muzungu is from Mufumbwe. This is his home.
Would you refuse to represent your own people in parliament if they asked you to?
Muzungu’s career is ending on the 29th tomorrow. He is a civil servant hence he should have resigned fom the civil service to pave way for his standing. I hope he has done so. Now he is losing and losing very badly tomorrow to the PACT. The pipo of Mufumbwe are teaching the MMD a lesson.
Sorry Muzungu, your time is up. Even ZNBC are not covering you nor showing your picture, all they are doing is covering RB’s own campaign speeches instead of him campaigning for you. Sickening????Eish.
#5, I thought Solwezi & Kasama were teaching MMD a lesson? Now its Mufumbwe and Milanzi too? How many lessons is MMD going to learn?
I think you should wait for the results and then comment. As for now, your are merely speculating based on your own feelings about MMD, UPND, PF and the ‘pact’.
Which people demanded for finished Muzungu? Lets wait for Friday and see.
RB as usual, lies!
The guy confided in one of his campaigners that he is in the afternoon of his life and wonder why he wants to be used. The guy wants to retire in Libya not to be thrown out in the streets on Friday%-(
Which people responded to finished RB when he campaigned for MMD in 2006 and gave them a landslide victory in Eastern province? This was the first time MMD got substantial votes in the East which has always been a UNIP stronghold. Dont under estimate veteran politicians! LOL!
A huge mistake was made to bring back to the system a finished pensioner from his farm and the result is clear for all to see, Zambia is driven back to the stone age.
Some of these lies coming from our leaders are embarassing and very childish, which people in Mufumbwe demanded that Mr.Muzungu contest the seat? This is a chap he worked with under Kaunda and he would like to bring back in government period, has nothing to do with people there wanting this Muzungu chap to come back from Al Khazafy’s Tripoli to stand as MP. By the way, look at the picture of George Kunda standing smiling at Banda, you bet the red-lipped snake might now be breathing its last in Morningside Clinic’s departure longe.
#6 John James Ph D, agreed 100%. No need to guess, we should wait patiently for tomorrow, and even congratulate the winner whoever it will be.
These days it is getting cold. What could be the reason?
#11 Sebuloni Kamutanda- Add if it the people who requested why is clarifying to the same people. He just wants to make minister, thats all.
The truth of the matter is that MMD wanted a candidate for UPND but the guy refused, as result MMD had no choice but to recall the old Muzungu to stand. Let us wait for results on Friday before for now we are in zero situation. Mufumbwe voters will speak tomorrow.
The people of Mufumbwe are not stupid to vote for a person iwho is not intouch with reality. This Muzungu guy has been roaming cairo road for many years before he joined MMD from UNIP.
Levy sent him to Libya .He has no idea what is on the ground in Mufumbwe.
Viva Kamando,Viva PACT !!!!!
