Maureen accuses State

FLASHBACK: Former First Lady Maureen Mwanawasa waits to renew her MMD membership card in Lusaka

FORMER First Lady Maureen Mwanawasa has accused government of failure to investigate fully late President Levy Mwanawasas’ death after he collapsed at an international meeting in Egypt in 2008.

Mrs. Mwanawasa has also charged that the MMD government was at the time in a hurry to hold elections in its bid to hang onto power without due consideration of the passing of her husband.

She made the allegations on a British Broadcasting Corporation Network Africa monitored in Lusaka yesterday.

But Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) president Stanley Mhango in an interview advised Mrs. Mwanawasa to complain to the investigative wings of government if she strongly felt that there was foul play in the death of her husband.

Mr Mhango, who is also chairperson of the Justice for Widows and Orphans Project, said that the former First Lady should consider bringing up the matter with Government rather than going to the media.

He said rushing to the media over such sensitive matters can lead to unnecessary confusion in the country.

Mrs Mwanawasa said it was difficult for her to ask government to institute investigations especially about what happened in the last 30 minutes before President Mwanawasa collapsed and was evacuated to hospital.

And on her allegations that the MMD Government rushed into campaigns for the elections to replace her late husband, Mr Mhango said the polls had to be held within a period of 90 days in accordance with the country’s constitution.

“In as much as we were mourning the late President, Government had to continue running and elections had to be held. We saw what happened in Nigeria recently where the President was sworn-in immediately after the death of his predecessor and about two days before the late President was buried.

“She should know that she is not the only one who lost the husband but that all Zambians are still mourning their beloved President,” he said.

And Mrs. Mwanawasa also revealed that her aspirations were to lead Zambia one day

Mrs. Mwanawasa told the BBC that she had her chance as First Lady and she does not want to become one again.

“My next aspiration is not to become a First Lady because if I aspire to become a First Lady, I must find a President to get married to. I am not interested in that. My aspiration is to lead this country one day,” she said.

Mrs Mwanawasa said she was a hard working First Lady, a development which made Zambians to believe that there were two Presidents in State House.

“I was very hard working to the extent that I don’t even have to say it myself. But if you ask Zambians, they believed they had two Presidents in State House,” she said.

When asked if she was also running the country, Mrs Mwanawasa said she was not part of management of the country’s affairs but that her late husband was lucky to have a supportive wife.

Mrs. Mwanawasa said also that it has not been easy for her to live without her husband although she has virtues which the late President Mwanawasa gave her while he was still alive.

She said the late President gave her room to be herself, courageous and hard working and that she has support from her family and friends who are there for her.

Mrs Mwanawasa said although it has been difficult, the inspiration her husband gave her has helped to make her family move on.

She complained that she gets paid 50 percent of what a President earns, about US$1,000 (over K5 million) per month from Government but that it was not enough to pay her children’s school fees.

Mrs Mwanawasa said she pays about US$2,000 per term for her child in school while her other child in London requires about 10,000 pounds per year for tuition alone.

She said since she is educated and has decided to go back to law practice and start working.

  1. This woman is misguided and confused. So what is she saying? Government should pay her 10 000 pounds and 2 000 dollars for her children’s tuition fees? And why did she and her husband put children in expensive schools when they knew they were living on Civil Servant’s salaries? Does it mean when she becomes president she will be able to afford to pay children’s exorbitant fees?

Look lady, you will have a a free mansion built by government and you are getting $ 1000 per month for doing nothing, and I mean NOTHING, you can sleep all you want nobody will grab your mansion and you will still get the $1000. Stop winging, there millions of widowers who will happily trade places with you. Aren’t you a lawyer? Get off your behind and go and work with if you want big bucks.

  2. Things for apart in MMD. What more 2011? We know our beloved mother is hard working and really she can do something but she must be consistent. Several times even before the death of her husband she has been asked about her ambition to lead the country but one time she clearly refused that people were just cooking up stories. To be a leader one needs to give leading answers if not direct to the point. But if you sad something to mean the opposite then you may be called nothing but what you deserve.

Mrs Mwanawasa must also know that there alot of widows in Zambia who are languishing on the streets because they government has failed to give then their husbands terminal benefits. Talk of UBZ, ZCBC, Mansa battery, Luangwa bicycle, to mention but a few.

  3. As a lawyer Maureen can not express such ignorance on the provisions of the constitution regarding the holding of elections after the incumbent has died. Was she expecting the Govt to mourn LPM indefinitely? On her ambitions of becoming President, she is welcome.

  4. If MMD has failed to tell the nation about the Gabon disaster results, what about the death of Mwanawasa?

Moreen seems to know more since she was the one nursing the husband. Then she should tell the nation. Now we are beginning to sense something fish here. Does it mean people who have acquired freedom after Mwanawasa’a death are the suspects? Please tell us Mum before our minds hold hold RB and FTJ responsible? You know more than others and you should tell the us what you knew.

So RB get $2,000 per month, while they were paying Renard $19,000? Atase. Does it mean FTJ and KK get $1,600 per month as 80% of $2,000? Yaku mayo insala pa Zedi.

Chikupempula echikulya. Wemene ukudyanaye mbale imozi ndiye mudani wako.

  5. Mwanawasa’s collapse and subsequent death were due to the pressure from Maureen who wanted Mwanawasa to continue being president despite his poor health condition. So in short, Maureen should investigate herself, let her listen to her conscience over events leading to Levy’s death. May Levy continue to rest in peace!

  6. Munadya kudala share yanu mummy! Just enjoy the inheritance…..Teka farm, free mansion, some off-shore accounts etc. as for being president, as long as the sun rises from the east and sets in the west, FORGET IT!

  7. Response some how sounds harsh from someone who purports that they are the advocate for Widows and Orphans. Is this another NGO?

  8. She is a lawyer but her arguments here are not sound. I mean what did she want the country to do continue mornin. That salary is out of respect to your late husband be greatful. I hope you were not playing to the gallary. This woman could be suffering from emotiounal trauma she may need some counselling.

  9. What is she really asking for? She got a free ride, free fuel, free house, she dont pay for the domestics. She also has property in prime areas. Is she really looking for sympathy or she’s just bored? Maureen what are you really asking for

  10. Maureen is lucky that she is receiving US$12,000 per year from tax payer’s money. At least she can afford groceries and the basic necessities. As for her daughter in the UK, she can pick up a part time odd job (like everybody else) in a factory or pub to help defray living expenses. The UK based daughter must have empathy for the single parent who obviously does not have financial capacity to meet her £10,000 per year tuition fees.

  11. :-?Maureen! Maureen! Testing the waters ka?? [-xShe is opening a can of worms and when she is hit by the political tide, she will whimper and whimper, claiming that some legacy is being dissecrated blah blah!! Or that she is being attacked because she is a woman……blah blah!! No sympathy votes this time around. We have learnt from RBB.[-( 😮

  12. you caused the death of ur husband so what investigation r u talkin about??he was a sick man ,period!!!
u r so full of shit!!!

  13. The cause of his death was clearly plausible.Hypertensive man with a history of a stroke suffers another stroke and dies. I think its not in the interest of government to start an expensive investigation into fairly obvious matters.

  14. This woman is crazy. She is complaining about earning $1000,doesn`t she she know that her pronouncement is an insult to the majority of zambians she intends to rule.Such money is what dreams are made of with the majority of the population who live on less than a dollar everyday and there is teka farms for that matter mammy under your dominion solet us get real.:-?

  15. By the way she said she gets 50% of Presidents wages and perks for doing **** all! She said she is the hardest working woman in Zambia???? She has Masters and Honor Doctorate at Law so she has gone back to practice. She however did not reveal the money in blocked accounts. She also says her husband was hard working. But we all know without FTJ the cabbage would have been rotten years before it was planted at State House. Ba Maurine please learn to be greateful.

  16. # 4 good remarks, this lady is really unpreciative, she becoming a devil before she even starts asking Zambias her intentions. Join, u’ll meet sata on the pupet./:)

  17. Ba moreen.. please try to appreciate for whatever we are doing for you as Zambians. Remember that there are so many widows suffering in Zambia. Their children have stopped school coz they have no money. For your children in the UK and USA, I advise you to bring them back to UNZA, at least there it will be much cheaper for you since all the great diasporaans passed through UNZA including your late husband. So bring back you children back home at UNZA. May God bless you even as you continue living alone.

  18. A test of your own medicine. how can you complain about the government giving you a $1000 when you are the same ones that refused to increase ministers salaries all because you where selfish and knew you got your money from allowances and well wisher that they didnt have. So now you know how the ministers felt during your time and its on you. Why should you complain now??? Do u understand why they rushed to increase their salaries? btw, you had your chance , how selfish can you be madam? please leave room for other, we want a better zambia. If you felt we had two presidents in state house, why do you want to go back? please enjoy your late husbands benefits and forget. about your husbands death, some1 always has to take the blame so ni normal.

  19. Well, Mrs Mwanawasa, if it’s becoming too expensive to pay for your kid in London, just bring her home to UNZA. A lot of the present-day “Who is who” list in Zambia are graduates of UNZA. Including your late husband, who went on to become president of Zambia. At UNZA you are going to pay much less than 10,000 pounds per year!!!

And please stop using your husband’s name to gain sympathy. There are literally thousands of widows in Zambia. Why don’t you start fighting for their rights. That would be something valuable coming from a lawyer and former first lady.

  20. Maureen though Iam not your supporter, the issue about Levy passing on I borught them out in the open the very month he was put to rest. The issues I was worrried about and I repeat are.

-All the defence force chiefs during Chiluba corrupt regime were either in prison or awaiting conviction
    – Chiluba had no freedom to even touch his stolen money. he used to feign illness to avoid jail.

The above were serious issues that made me question Levy’s death. Chiluba left so many crooks in MMD and those that were dining and wining with Chiluba lost out on stolen benefits. There were many pending cases on Chiluba before the courts of law.

The result we lost Levy in a very strange way. Chiluba and his agents killed Levy. MHSRIP

  21. Her callous mindset deserves nothing but the inglorious garb of villainy so that we can freely plug the holes in her ingratitude and myth for power.Sundry allegations have been bandied as to how she was the actual Lord of the Manor exploiting half brain husband who allegedly lacked firmness and a voice. We have been regaled with tales of how she influenced and compromised due process in the award of contracts, how she manipulated the appointment of key officers in establishment to her own selfish dreams.Give that money to the needy old folks on the ground.

  22. Yes many of us Zambians appreciate sober first ladies as was mama Betty Kaunda and is Mama Thandiwe Banda. Unlike her of Maureen of whom we have been regaled with tales of how she wrecked some’s heart from her marriage as a Gold digger, then influenced and compromised due process in the award of contracts, how she manipulated the appointment of key officers in government, and how she replicated the family tree anachronism of mukwabo kuyeboneshata in the Presidency. What can an outsider in her tenure like me who has no defending information foothold in her Presidency say other than to suggest that these allegations are not ordinaries that constitute onion peels of speculations, which yield to more layers, and yet more.unapologetically she is ungrateful and useless to take serious.

  23. This is pure greed . Maureen, zambia is a 3rd world developing country with 90% of its citizens in poverty. Yet you claim to have a foundation for the underprivaleged while wanting to be paid like zambia is rich ? camon madam, this was the wrong way to launch your self into politics, from now on i see you for what you are, zambias emelda marcos.

  24. Any evidence that this gold digger remained true to her marital oath to be with her husband in good times and in bad times. Did she discharge her duty with aplomb, striving to maintain the dignity of her bedridden husband that LPM was in reality? Her materialism and wishful characteristics to her self certainly did not sit well with so many Zambians who would have her abandon her obsession in the evidence of wrong stretches.

  25. Nevertheless, lets forgive maureen for insulting Zambians with her ingratitude and infatuations for power within her right. She is a mere mortal, warts and all. Of course she might have dabbled in occasional vanity and nursed sundry secret ambitions now out; of course she might have done worse than we even know she did but to dream is free in free societies as our.

  26. Mr patriot, I can see that the dictionary is your good friend! enjoy the weekend. You have made my day.

  27. This is a lesson to all the ladies married to ailing men in leadership to advise them to resign on health grounds before it is too late.

After the heated debate about the “cabbage” we were told that we had a “steak” ruling us!

Was it right to turn someone’s health into a comedy show ?

    What should be investigated now?

How the cabbage failed to become a steak ?

Is it patriotic to go to a foreign news broadcaster like the BBC to express your sentiments ? Are you no longer a member of the MMD ? Did you did discuss this issue with your children before going to the press ?

Come on Maureen! Let the big man rest in eternal peace ! Why open closed wounds?

  28. Maureen – Your husband had health issues way before he was president. Let the govt put resources elsewhere instead of wasting it on why a sick man died!!!

If you dont have anything else to say. Try being quiet.

  29. Sad story to be aired on BBC. I mean we Zambian are still morning our beloved late President and if there is anything to be resolved between the family of the late President and Govt, let us try by all means not discuss them on the media. May our beloved late President rest in peace.

  30. she is seeking some attention and we are not interested in her blabbing mouth :-@:-@,please leave your private matters out of the media no one is feeling pity for you please **==**==**==ba zambia

  31. Maureen your problems are better problems which are solvable. Withdraw your galavanting children from England and find them school is Zambia. What happened to Nkwazi school where your kids used to go when LPM was alive. How about finding a young Boyfriend to service you and help you spend the money Levy left you..You seemto have vitamin S.E.X defieiceny..but what happened to that rumoured DM who used to services you when our beloved Presido was astill alive..he deserted you now

  32. Mrs Mwanawasa should come down to earth who the hell does she think she is? she is not the only widow in Zambia and many of them have not even received benefits from the government from the time they lost their loved ones, $1000 is a good amount of money to live on and for her child who is studying in London she should find some work that is what all us have gone through in England, this lady is a joke she should go to hell so many women and children are suffering in Zambia.

  33. Somethings are not whealthy. Investigating and wasting resources on.Its not whichcraft it want poisoning it wa a second stroke.Since she is so powerful a woman she misadvised Levy to cling on to power against his will, health and Doctors advise. She bewitched him with wrong advise as a wife.If tempers flared up whilst discussing Zimbabwe that does not mean we should point a finger towards Bob.Let’s not worst resources he was a good man MHSRIP.Let’s talk progress ba Maureen what do you plan to do if you became President?

  34. Chiluba’s arrival in Luapula electrifies the province. Shame to Sata and Mmembe Chiluba has taken a thunderous reception.

  35. Ba Mwata u r still worshiping Titus Mpundu, shame that i live in the USA at the same time as u> Chilu ba has not been greeted by Mansa people its the 2000 cadres from Lusaka sent by William Banda and all the street Ruffians. Trust me, Mwata:you and them guyz are on the wrong side of history, and Time is not with you.

  36. #4Kadya Nikena Mbili niyakhoswe
If i remember well the president of Zambia get $53,000 that is at the time Mwanawasa was there. he actually reduced it. It was high but them when RB immediately came into power he raised it the very week together with his minister’s. That the time teachers where complaining that the had be deprived.

I also do agree with you, its like Maureen Knows something in this, since she was with him at the hospital in France, the doctors there must have mentioned something to her. Remember it was a military hospital the had all equipment necessary in the medical field. They could have been foul play and Mulongoti should know because he had seemed to know at the time that Mwanawasa was not coming back no matter what..and wanted a new leader as LPM did not tolerate…

  37. Ladies and Gentlemen no one killed President Levy Mwanawasa it is to every ones knowledge that his health was failing him – his ministers in cabinet knew but could not do anything about it in order to keep thier jobs, Mrs Mwanawasa is just seeking attention we all know how lonely it can be when you leave the office of power ask KK and Chiluba. She can find some rich old lonely man to look after her needs as you all have seen we have young girls who are doing fine with their old men in leadership there in Zambia.

  38. What this maureen woman needs is one good stiff one inside her. Then she will stop insulting the intelligence of Zambians. Millions of parents can”t even afford a meal and she is talking of failing to pay 10,000 pound for her daughter’s tuition? Pull the liattle b.i.tch out and let her continue at UNZA for a fraction of that.

  39. GET OVER THE FACT THAT SHE CAN SEND HER BABY TO A £10,000 PER TERM UNI IN LONDON AND YOU CAN’T!! Busy insulting her for tryna give her kids the BEST like any parent would. Get over it and get a life!

  40. GET OVER THE FACT THAT SHE CAN SEND HER BABY TO A £10,000 PER TERM UNI IN LONDON AND YOU CAN’T!! Busy insulting her and her kids cause she’s trying to give her kids the BEST like any parent would. Get over it guys! I’m not her # 1 fan but some comments are laced with unnecessary jealousy and anger.

  41. Molin!!! Shut the F**k up! Your husband was a “chigodola”! It was just a matter of time. He had had two minor strokes already and he was morbidly obese and diabetic. “Imichopo” shamu state house! It called natural selelction, the weak dia\e off to leave the strongest. Your husband was the weakest link. He was even lucky to have served as a president. Mind you he survived a a fatal accident and his brain was mashed up! Just pucker up biach and enjoy your money! you still have that 10 million in your account so enjoy.

  42. No. 47/48 you are missing the point here the woman is saying that 1000 dollars she is getting is not enough do you know how many widows and kids are going with out food in Zambia? Not that we can not send our kids to school in London because we live here and so we feel for the poor back home this girl is a big joke let find some boy friend.

  43. All you MMD sponsored haters leave the lady alone, she was just expressing herself . She does not deserve all these insults from you MMD kaponyas.

  44. ulima mwibala, alya mwibala. All those years your husband was in power are you telling me you didn’t save some money for a rainy day?@-)

  45. This woman should not pretend to be mourning levy. She contributed to the presure on Him. Wait so many things will come out. Why did levy at one time go to live at State lodge??? is not because of what He had found out about you. Why was one Deputy Minister of Agriculture who was close to her fired ??And her and Finance bank…… Mwikatala patalala mwine apatalalika. Mum those are not problems I m aware that she is about to face the law on so many issues but she thinks she can deceive Zambians in to thinking that what she is about to face is as a result of what she is saying. no one is above the law.

  46. hahaha its like you know alot @55 mwatayanzu…please tell us more..was the deputy minister geting some from fomr first lady? now this is interesting…:d:d:d

  47. Table turn. Who new this could happen to somebody who buys Christmas cards in new York?
Mrs Mwanasasa, I am dissatisfied with your complaints. The law of Zambia, which I believe you have studied, states that a widow first lady should get 50% of presidential salary. So do you want us to disrespect our constitution and give you $12 000 instead. Mama please if you have nothing to say just shut up. There will be convetion soon in MMD go and participate if you think you can make it.plus I don’t think you are popular like RB.

  48. BREAKING NEWS: Public Servants have not received the April wages!!! So much for a woman accused of having $10m in a small bank in Lusaka. I thot Dr. LPM (HSRIP) used to boast of farms and law firms..get some crops and sell at Soweto like Nawakwi did in hard times..elitism will never make you President, Trust Me!

  49. Maurine up 2 now u dont know that Zambia is one of the poorest countries on earth? How do u compare yoself with other 1st ladies from booming economies? U make so much noise as if its u who was president. No. And why take yo children to UK when u cannot afford. Stop boasting na njala. Be real and be down 2 earth. Wants are unlimited but resources are scarce atleast this u shud know. U still blame the gov even after doing so much 4 u 4 free? Shame on u. Stop dreaming and start 2 work 4 yoself. Va mahala vi natha kale achimwene.

  50. Being 1st lady poor Maurine is not passport that Govt will now do everything 4 u. No. Its time 4 u 2 work. Stop just boasting over those useless MBA’s that are now so common and are being distributed by briefcase/ tuntemba universities all over in cairo road. And yo fake honarary doctorate? What did u do 2 deserve that? Obviously nothing. So why boast as though u studied 2 have PhD? Let those who studied 4 their PhD boast and not these corruptly distributed honorary whatever. Mayo no sympaty this time. Everyone must work 2 eat.

  51. Maurine u even claim u want 2 rule Zambia when u are so greedy 4 money.Rule who? Shame on u. If u cannot appreciate what the govt is giving u now, what more if u were to become president? Will u not demand billions or trillions of kwacha as salary? Yo greedness 4 money clearly shows that u have no interest 4 Zambians who are suffering but to satisfy yo big appetite 4 money. No wonder u were busy forcing Levy to continue ruling even when his health was falling becoz of yo big appetite 4 money !!!

  52. I HAVE ALWAYS RESPECTED AND SYMPATHIZED WITH WIDOWS BUT I THINK MAMA MAUREEN YOU HAVE GONE OFF THE MARK.YOUR COMPLAINTS ARE PURELY OUT OF GREED AND SELFISHNESS.IF YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW WIDOWS ARE HAVING IT TOUGH IN ZAMBIA GO TO THE GOVERNMENT PENSION HOUSE AND SEE OR INVITE SOME THE GARBON WIDOWS THEIR HUSBANDS DIED ON DUTY ,THEY HAD NO EXSISTING MEDICAL CONDITIONS YOUNG FIT AND PROMISING.TODAY THEIR KIDS CAN NOT EVEN ENROLL AT LUSAKA TRADES SCHOOL ,NO MONEY .AT LEAST LEARN TO APPRECIATE YOU AND GEORGE MPOMBO YOUR SPOKESMAN .LEVY LEFT WITH A LOT OF WEALTH WHICH YOU HAVE TUCKED AWAY IN OFFSHORE ACCOUNTS.IF YOU LOST MONEY BCOZ OF GLOBAL ECONOMICAL MELT DOWN DO NOT BLAME IT ON GRZ.PLEASE TELL US HOW MUCH YOUR ESTATE IS WORTH MAMA MAUREEN WHICH YOU INHERITED .WHO IS YOUR ACCOUNTANT?

  53. ON THE QUEST THAT GOVERNMENT SHOULD INVESTIGATE THE CAUSE OF YOUR HUSBAND’S DEATH ,I THINK MUM YOU ARE TAKING YOUR CHANCES TOO FAR.YOU WERE AT THE BEDSIDE WHEN LPM TOOK HIS LAST BREATH AND BEFORE THE LIFE SAVING MACHINES WERE TURNED OFF AM PRETTY SURE THAT YOU WERE ADQUATELY TOLD THAT YOUR HUSBAND WILL NOT HAVE ANY QUALITY OF LIFE IF EVER HE SURVIVED THEREFORE IT IS TEMPTING GRZ TO START ASKING FOR THINGS YOU UNDERSTAND EVEN BETTER.AT LEAST EVERY ZAMBIAN KNOWS THAT YOUR HUSBAND’S HEALTH WAS NOT GOOD FOR A LONG TIME EXCEPT FOR YOU.HOWEVER I FEEL YOU SHOULD LET HIM REST IN PEACE .HELP ME AND OTHERS BY CLOSING YOUR MOUTH MAMA MAUREEN.YOU KNOW THE CAUSE OF YOUR HUSBAND’S DEATH JUST I DO SO WHY WASTE TIME AND MONEY INVESTIGATING THE OBVIOUS ?ZED HAS NO MONEY TO WASTE.

  54. Whatever happened to the Maureen Mwanawasa Community Initiative (MMCI)…? I think concentrating on that is more useful than crying that the government is not paying her enough for the work she never did. Does she want to be paid the same amount as the president?

  55. Did we really had two presidents? i really doubt! Maureen just watch out when the Cobra attacks you. Don’t you comply and mourn again for your husband. you are finished and know one will allow you to stand. During the time your husband died everyone knew you wanted to succeed even though you denied this fact on the press. Shout up and concentrate on farming your husband left enough land with cattle’s if the Lenje’s haven’t finished steeling them. I am disappointed this lady wants to engage herself in politics. Whats wrong with women. Can’t you start preaching for income? or sell tomotoes in city market or sell <:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p<:-p please stop :-@:-@:-@:-@:-@:-@.

  56. Have you seen how much -ve responses you have got? I have gone through almost all of them and not found any +ve.
This means no one appreciates you! And now lets read between the lines. What this means is that no one appreciated your husbands tenure of office. But because it it considered unAfrican to talk ill about the dead, no one dares. But we r using ur insanity to express the disapproval of LPM in office. Then now we have a worse president than him – RB. If RB dies, no 1 will talk ill but will say ‘RB legacy’. If Tandiwe dares take us 4 a ride like u have just done, then she will know pipo feel.

As a husband and father, Levy will be missed and cherished. U r all in our thots and sympathy (and as as African). But as a president?

    Lets be serious!

You molini, are a bad joke!

  57. This is the problem with people who entirely depended on the govt for the survival. They abused govt resources by sending their children to expensive schools abroad, now there is no money let them go back to govt schools in Zambia. This woman should be crying foul because she is not actually going through what most widows go through in Zambia. She must actually appreciate the little she gets because nobody in Zambia even gets that $1000 per month and yet they have to pay school fees for their children and they do not complain. My advise to her is find a job and staring instead of complaining. She was too comfortable as first lady and never thought that things can change. They were not serving money because she was busy traveling with the whole family(Lubono)remember. Time is the master!

  58. Really woman will you put a sock in it already! I really had admiration for you but now I pitty you. Mourn with respect; Panshi tapalatalala.

  59. Is the former First Lady being paid in foreign exchange? Then her later husband (RIP) was leading a rotten country. Maureen should know better that chi RB is very selfish such that he does not know wether he is a president or a chief of some village in eastern province.

  60. While Mrs. Mwanawasa may be entitled to her late husband’s dues, she needs to remember that there are many widows – wives of miners, policemen, teachers whose husbands did a good job serving their country but who have not even received a penny of the money they are entitled to. Some have slept on queues trying to meet some bigwig in his office who is not even interested in meeting them because he is busy buying fertilizer for his farm. I guess I am right when I say this is the plight of most Zambia widows and widowers. Losing a spouse is not easy – coupled with financial struggles it is like the living have also died with their loved one.

  61. #45 answers to your questions are in #49.
Actually LPM was told to stop stuffing his face but he used to say, and I quote, “Food is my weakness, I can’t stop eating.”

He was jogging in London to address some of the conditions listed by #49.

    UBUTUTU MULEKE!

  62. Maureen is never and will never be a Presidential material. This woman was engulfed into material and other activities supporting her interest when her hubby was alive. Her pronouncements have brought nothing but shame to all peace loving Zambians. There are a lot of Zambians studying in the UK and her daughter can learn how to survive instead of depending 100% on her mum. Ba former 1st lady, just look for a job in the public service or you start your own firm and re-establish yourself in the private practice. Stop fooling around and find yourself a life!!!!!!!

  63. Kwena this is what I can comfortably call ‘madness’ ! Iwe ka Maureen ,why cant you call for investigations to determine why you found time to sneak into Zambia with the challenger Jet to loot money and dash back to France whlts your hubby was gasping for sweet air ? Can you also tell us the right date of death of your husband. What did you do with the millions of Dollars since the hospital bill was paid for, a gonga coffin from China was used. Tell us woman.

  64. Levy had a stroke soon after opening a personnel letter sent from Angola president on Zimbabwe. The British and Americans tested the said letter for any poisionous substances and found nothing.

  65. This lady is really out of touch, people at statehouse voted against her husband in 2006 because of her! Who or what does this lady think she is,if she wasn’t sleeping with darlington mwape the hubby would probably be alive. GREEDY WOMAN

  66. No.5: Levy will never rest in peace for as long as he is buried on the edge of a busy Lusaka street!
Pipo stand on his grave stone taking pictures. How can a man rest in that way, when you are driving around and near him, recklessly while in the nearby secretariat civil servants are mourning with hunger?

  67. Maureen you say Zambians thought there were 2 presidents at state house because of your hard work, are you confirming the rumors that you were ruling Zambia fraudentely and which Zambians appreciated your so called hard work? You did nothing when you were first lady.Maureen there is nothing special about you or your kids. That prestige which you enjoyed as first lady is gone come down to earth. Go back to law practise if you are a real lawyer. You cannot rule Zambia againt cos you are selfish and greedy, it is all about you, your kids and family tree. Put you kids in GRZ schools, if you cannot, sell off some of the properties LPM left. You shud appreciate that you are getting that US$1000 per month, there are a lot of widows suffering out there.

  68. I am not sure if her aspirations to become president of Zambia are delusions like some people are saying here. Who thought Mwanawasa would become president, or Ruphia…. The two had retired and were busy with other chores, but, presidents they became. You will be the first one to vote for Maureen if a popular party of the day chose her as candidate.

Her complaining over money is not genuine – what has happened to the Law Firm, the ultra modern farm near Chongwe, MMCI and the gratuity from GRZ?

Of those whose brain’s first reaction to a story you are not happy with is an insult, be reminded that you do not add value to discussions. You are just disgusting. Go back to the communal toilets and compound walls were your kind have platforms to air your type of views.

  69. This lady is shameless to say the least. How could you???? In the midst of all the suffering and poverty of tmany. No wonder someone mentioned as long as the sun rises from east and sets west. Disgraceful human being.

  70. Yes Maureen it has not been easy for you since your husband passed on (MHSRIP) The reason why you have found it difficult is because your husband gave you the status of first lady and all the trappings which go with the title. You never loved him cos if you did you would not have allowed him to to for the 2nd term. You lead him to an early grave. You are such a heartless. You are so power hungry that you submitted your name for nomination for president to the MMD for the 2008 elections. It was your idea to have the body of LPM paraded throughout the country cos you wanted to get to state house on sympathetic votes but it never worked. By the way does Maureen’s step dota Mirriam have children?

  71. :((:((:(
    TYPICAL OF MAUREEN; VERY GREEDY!!
I AGREE WITH SOME OF THE EARLIER COMMENTS. THIS WOMAN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HER HUSBAND’S DEATH!!
IF ANYTHING, SHE WAS THE ONE RULING THE COUNTRY THROUGH HIM.
MAUREEN YOU ARE SO UNGRATEFUL! HERE YOU ARE COMNPLIANING ABOUT $1000 PER MNTH WHEN SO MANY WIDOWS OUT THERE HAVE COMPLETELY NOTHING…NOT EVEN A SPOON!! I AM DEEPLY OFFENDED BY HER SENTIMENTS. THIS WOMAN IS MAKING A MOCKERY OF THE POVERTY-STRICKEN MASSES IN THE COUNTRY.
WHERE YOU CHOOSE TO TAKE YOUR CHILDREN FOR SCHOOL, IS ENTIRELY YOUR CHOICE.
BUT DNT EXPECT THE MASSES THAT LIVE ON LESS THAN A DOLLAR A DAY, TO FUND YOUR INSATIABLE LAVISH LIFESTYLE…
AAARGH….SUCH THINGS REALLY ANNOY ME U KNOW!!

  72. Moureen is Just covering her face. Lady you are not poor….stop pretenting. If you have no money bring your daughter back to UNZA? after all even yoursel went to same UNZA. Let me tell you UNZA is not inferior, we all passed through there now will soon be Drs. If you are lonely, there is no harm in legalising what you were doing according to # 55. We know you are human and have feelings also.
