I’m a better candidate for 2011 — Hichilema

Share

UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema

UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema yesterday declared himself the most suitable candidate for the 2011 presidential election on account of his younger age and modern leadership posture.

The UPND and Patriotic Front (PF), headed by Michael Sata, are running a pact which is yet to elect a candidate to lead the alliance into next year’s presidential election.

PF vice-president Guy Scott said, however, that there was nothing wrong with Mr Hichilema declaring himself the right candidate because the members of the joint committee of the pact would still have to decide who would be the candidate.

Addressing supporters on arrival from the United States of America (USA) at Lusaka International Airport yesterday, Mr Hichilema said many developed and developing countries had shifted from the practice of voting for old leaders and because of that, he wanted to lead Zambia starting next year.

He cited the example of Tanzania, Russia, United Kingdom and the USA, which had voted into office young and intelligent leaders aged between 40 and 50 years.

Mr Hichilema said Russian President Dmitry Medvedev was 45 years old, while Tanzania’s Jakaya Kikwete was 50 and US President Barack Obama was only 48.

Newly-inaugurated British Prime Minister David Cameron, born on October 9, 1966, was 44 years old and Mr Hichilema, at 48, argued that he was the best candidate to take over Government next year.

Mr Hichilema said Zambia should join this category of leadership next year by electing him into office.

“The world knows what type of leadership this country needs and surely you the people of Zambia cannot see? I hope Zambians can make the right choices next year,” Mr Hichilema told the cheering crowd.

He said he had travelled to the US at the invitation of the government of that country to learn about international security, which was important to Zambia.

He was in the US for 18 days and arrived aboard a South African Airways flight at 12:30 hours.

Asked about the failure by the pact to launch at the end of March as announced at the beginning of the year, Mr Hichilema said by-elections in some constituencies around the country had kept the political parties busy.

[pullquote]But Dr Scott said even Mr Sata could declare himself as the most suitable candidate and urged people not to see anything wrong with that declaration.[/pullquote]

He said the launch would still go ahead and had not been cancelled, although that would now depend on the Luena parliamentary by-election that resulted from the resignation of Charles Milupi, who formed the Alliance for Democracy and Development.

But Dr Scott said even Mr Sata could declare himself as the most suitable candidate and urged people not to see anything wrong with that declaration.

He said there was nothing that would stop any of the two leaders to make such statements because they knew that the joint technical committee in the pact and other stakeholders would eventually decide who would be the candidate.

Meanwhile, Mr Hichilema condemned Mr Milupi for causing the by-election and blamed him for resources that would be spent on the poll.

He said Mr Milupi should have waited for 2011 in line with the advice he was given before he launched his party.

On calls for political parties to have a ceiling in terms of how much they should spend on any election, Mr Hichilema said Mr Milupi should have raised the matter in the National Constitutional Conference.

The UPND was not shaken by plans by the MMD to petition the Mufumbwe parliamentary by-election results because about 300 witnesses would be lined up and some would testify that they were given suits by the Government.

Mr Hichilema also welcomed the demotion of former Home Affairs minister Lameck Mangani and the appointment of former chairperson of committees at Parliament Mkhondo Lungu to take over the position.

  1. Ha ha ha funny, wait til you hear from your old man sata.He will also say that he is right to lead because of his old age and he will give examples of senegal, venezuela, cameroon and cuba to qualify his point.Tekanya mwana.LOL

  2. Let those who have eyes see and those with ears hear as to where the Pact is heading. They have all declared themselves as best or is it most suitable,it remains to be seen who will accept the second best position.

  3. All things being equal, yes HH is the better of the available crop. But it remains to be seen if Zambians really look at things objectively. I think we as a people are still petty. How nice if HH, Milupi, Chipimo Jr, Magande, Fundanga, Criticles Mwansa were the people we were are looking at for the presidency. But to have RB and Sata in the mix…hhhhhmmmmm!

  4. Like Guy Scot said, there is nothing wrong with HH declaring his suitability to lead Zambia. He actually is a better candidate!!!! Viva HH & Pact

  5. At least good to see this chap flex some muscle and live up to the tittle of Tonga Bull. HE should not think that Sata will take this lying down. I must say that HH has been behaving like a chicken, with features everywhere and no balls, in this all PACT. He need to start asserting himself now. SATA and RB belong to the past , we need fresh leadership and fresh minds at the wheel and if the PACT is listening, if you put SATA on top of the ticket, come 2011, am VOTING the devil I know MMD and RB, at least they are not doing that bad economically and seems their Fertilizer program has yielded good results.

  6. Zambia’s future does not rest on unpatriotic tribalists daily threatening the country of making it ungovernable. If you want to make it ungovernable why should citizens risk their treasured country with you?

  7. Ati umwana asenda akana ka mbwili ati ni p.ushi,i think this young man destroyed his political carrear the moment he entered into the pact. Now it is too late to turn back just like when you go black. Now i am banking on Chipimo though i should aswell admit that his ambitions can be likened to pipe dreams.

  8. Zambia is a functional constitutional democracy. All citizens regardless of their immaturity, unpatriotism and political failures are constitutionally protected to dream. There is no price attached to the dreaming of citizens.I implore all patriots to protect Ichilema’s right to dream.

  9. #8(Babifya)
Ati just like when you go black? Awe chachine!! when you black, you will never go back.

  10. Above all its interesting to follow this circusof a pact not forebearing Ichilema’s natural immaturity and dreaming overdrive before Sata starts insulting him.

  11. HH may say he is the most suitable candidate, he has the right say that. However, he has serious problem of being a tribalist…in fact, UPND whether we like it or not, was formed on tribal lines. It would indeed be refreshing to have a young president, but he has to be a candid young president and just someone chancing.
    And where is Prof Chirwa?

  12. as much as HH can compare with the young world leaders he needs to know their backgrounds and what sort of economies they run. HH still needs time , yes the 2016 elections he can run he is still young. As of now he does not have the experience to fight dirty or to be firm. He should just let the old cobra to lead the pack this election and serve as his deputy to increase the pipos confidence. Remember his tribe is disadvataging him too. So if he can prove himself then the whole country will have confidence in him

  13. Mr. Hichilema, you are wasting your time if you think you will stand on Pact ticket. You only have two options, either you play second fiddle to Mr. Sata in the pact or you break away from the Pact and run independently.

I say this because Mr. Sata has explicitly stated that he will continue contesting elections until he wins. He also said that even though he loses in 2011, he will contest even the elections beyond until he wins. So, Mr. Hichilema, where does that leave you?

In-fact Mr. Sata has become very serious. Already he is making promises that the PF (notice PF not pact) will solve the fuel crisis within 90 days (that 90 days never gets old…LOL) by carrying out oil explorations. This just shows that Mr. Sata will never give up on his ambition.

  14. Friends, I suspect the Pact might collapse. Surely, the Big Snake would like to swallow the young man. Remember, it is 100% sure that it will drible its way through. However, whoever wins there will be loses to to benefit the outer-pact. We wait and see as the game heats up, interesting indeed.

  15. Guy Scott made the crucial point, already! If the presidential candidate for the pact will be elected, then it makes perfect sense that each of the contenders should advertise and promote himself as the best. That does not mean the demise of the PACT, does it?

  16. Power struggle has just started in the PF/UPND PACT.By the goings, very soon the PACT will divorce. Those who have been following my comments will concur with me.It is not a GIVE and TAKE situation.
The real situation on the ground is HH will stand on UPND 2011
SATA will stand on PF 2011
Now where is the PACT?Zambians mark my words,i have been preaching about this since the inception of the so called PF/UPND PACT.

  17. Am a bemba PF kaponya but am 100% behind HH, we need to move on as a nation at an accelerated pace and forget about silly things that divide us. There’s no point to continue voting on tribal lines, whether it’ll be a lozi, Tonga, Bemba, etc at statehouse no direct benefit will accrue to me but i will be satisfied if we end up with a right man. So my bro. maestral heheheheheh take a leave and stop it.

  18. 18 Mungoma,

You are right. The Pact is a democratic dispensation where both leaders are free to put themselves forward and get a footing for 2011. unlike MMD where the bare mention of a convention is treason – ask Mpombo and Magande

  19. #17 Do not doubt, the PACT is between SATA and HH,once SATA and HH differs in principle, that is the end of the PACT.

  20. # 15 Ibange Libi How can somebody’s tribe be a disadvantage? You are surely a rabid bigot! I take it Sata’s tribe is a big advantage for him that is why you are recommending him. You must belong to Sata’s tribe and for some s.tu/p.id reason you think you are a gift to Zambia. All I will do now is appeal to Zambian’s who dont belong to this ‘special tribe’ not to vote for Sata. I thought we were a country in which everyone had equal rights. Honestly these are the i.d.i.ots who shout loudest at the imaginary tribal inclinations of anyone who forms a political party if he does not come from their ethnic group. Dear Zambians be aware of these bigots.

  21. Zambians,Sata is not ready to be under HH,equally HH is not ready to be under SATA. It is nice that what these guys(sata/HH) have been habouring against each other has started coming out.

  22. Senior Citizen,
You may not be in good books wit HH,however its important that you correctly spell the name(Hichilema) to avoid offending other innocent citizens using the same name, kindly show your seniority on this one.

  23. Remember SATA was MMD,differed in PRINCIPLE with then PRESIDENT CHILUBA,Sata formed his NOAH PARTY(PF).What will not stop him(SATA) this time not to divorce with HH.Sata is unpredictable.

  24. # 23 please remove your head from the sand. Some tribes are more prominent than the other. Please refer to the last presidential elections and see how badly HH fared in the northern, copperbelt, luapula, Central, Lusaka Province which are bemba dominated. And see how Sata did in the same provinces. Tribal politics are a fact in Zambia, Look at how RB shines in Eastern province. That is why i would rather HH serves as a deputy to Sata for at least one term so that he builds the confidence of the pipo. HH is a good leader only he has to work twice as much to prove it because of tribal politics

  25. Iwe # 13. In comparative terms, YES HH is the most suitable candidate among the rest Sata inclusive. People like YOU are the ones who are trying to smear OUR CURRENT leaders as tribalits. You define tribalism to suit your own egos. You are the kind of people with the potential to define this national and cause chaos. People like you only see tribalism when it concerns HH. Do you mean RB, SATA or indeed other other political leaders are not tribal in their own way? Is it just tribalism when it applies to HH or a Tonga for that matter? The fact of the matter is that every Zambian citizen is tribal in one way or the other. Even if Zambia was to be divided into nine provinces today, we will still find tendencies tribalism in those provinces.

  26. In your dreams ,you cause people to die in Mufumbwe and run away thinking that you are smart ,you modern thug, yes you will win in Monze but for the rest of country you are still unknown and looked upon as a tribalist.Just wait for boat ride to sink yet again.MMD to rule again thugs out.

  27. These fronts are not only welcome, but signs of a healthy growing democracy. At all cost they must be embraced, promoted with space and increasingly expected. The memorandum that UPND and PF would and should not criticize each other as a couple is dictatorial and anti thesis to democratic norms. Give them space to discover themselves that actually the so call PACT is a myth of overboard utopia. It’s an illicit affair driven by infatuation other than binding love and mutual respect.

  28. It is not 100% true that UPND was established on tribal lines. If you remember very well, Mazoka (MHSRIP) having had a sound political and socio-economic manifesto for Zambia than that of MMD, was a key proponent about forming a govt of national unity. Since the adoption of the multi party system, our country has been divided politically and general election results are there to show. How do you explain a situation where Sata gets more votes in the Bemba land, Mwanawasa wins in the Lamba land, while Mazoka does so in the Southern province? In my view, this electoral trend has been perpetuated for a long time now depsite UPND leadership having had politically and tribally balanced representation.

  29. Sata is more popular than HH. For the sake of democracy let them go to the convention. Three general elections have passed no single opposition party has won. Divisions will give MMD an opportunity to rig elections. sata should stand as president, HH as his vice, the issue now, its not who takes the first position, but , to liberate zambia or the two will to be opposition parties forever. Zambians lets be realistic. Sata is a man of actions and the results are there for you to see. This Chiluba developmet now where are the results. This Rupiah NO ROADS IN THIS COUNTRY. Sata is the man .

  30. there is nothing wrong for him to say that as he has to sale himself to the voters as well as to the pact commintte as well as Sata. these are more less like primary elections

  31. IWE chi
Senior Citizen#31 just shup up !! your comments are very boring atase !! y cnt u jus slip if u,ve nothing to do? u,a such a useless chap.

  32. HH has age on his side, no one can argue on this one. Practically anyperson above the age of 70yrs start developing health weakneses such as heart failure leg problems and many other health problems. With the challenge of work as head of state, the chances of having a state funeral would be very high.

My advice to fellow Zambians is that let us look beyond tribe or religion. We need to make decissions that will help us as a nation and not as tribes mate.

  33. Tribalism is a not a new phenomena. Let me tell you, at party level Mazoka tried his best to deal with it compared to other parties. In terms of top leadership for instance, Mazoka (Tonga) had Sikwiba (Lozi) and Sichinga (Bemba I think) as his two Vice Presidents. Chisanga (a bemba) served as general secretary of UPND. These were top and key party positions. So what # 13 is is saying does not hold at all. To me, # 13 is tribally and politically naive. Since the inception of multi party system, no Tonga has been elected as President or appointed as Vice president but you have never heard UPND or its supporters for that matters complaining that MMD or Mwanawasa is tribal…NO.

  34. The ball is in the coat of SATA / HH,who are we to force them to be together if they decide otherwise.

  35. #15 and 27 ibange libi….like your name says….you shud stop ganja! you are a Bemba elitist I guess. You are the kind that thinks there is something better about you just because of tribe. You must be ashamed of yourself. If you think Sata will win the presidency just because he comes from the ‘dorminant’ bemba grouping, you must be deluded. By the way, why did he enter into a pact if he comes from a dorminant grouping?

So the rest of us who come from small tribes have to work twice as hard to be suitable to lead zambia while the rest of you its a birth right? Simply put, I think you are mad! You are shame to the many Bemba people who are sensible.

  36. mwanta #35 u,a such a clever person !! i lyk your comment !! you are the typ of people that ths country needz!! nt ths useless chap called Senior citizen

  37. It’s too early to pick a presidential candidate for the PF-UPND pact, Sata.Zambians are still waiting for this to come to reality or it was just ………………………….

  38. And sadly that is how the cookie crumbles before it is dipped in any milk!!!! Everything is topsy turvy around here. The citizens are left guessing who their leader is going to be,and they rather naively describe what is happening as strategy. It is a perfect strategem if it leaves even the people who are supposed to vote utterly and totally bemused. If they are having problems managing themselves and their groups what is to be expected when they attempt to run the country. This is i have never voted and never will either.

  39. Let me end by saying that RB has been busy appointing Easterners in the MMD. Was it not yesterday when he appointed a so called Lungu from eastern province? Whether on merit of tribal lines that is another mater we you and I can look at critically. A situation where we have many leaders in government being appointed in top position from eastern province is tribal in a sense.

Let us not preach tribalism all the time. Each one of us has the power to fight it including you #13

  40. 😕 well looks like the die is now cast, but my advise would be for them to lobby for the amendment of our constitution to provide for a coalition govt in the unlikely event non of the candidates gets the required numbers or more so than the required votes/ seats to form government. I think coalitions are more progressive as they offer internal checks and balances. The winner take all has not served african politics too well. this scenario would allow the UPND and the PF to go it alone initially and after the elections form govt. the guy with more seats becomes president and the other one vice-president. As matters stand it is more likely that the losing candidate after their internal elections may opt-out of the pact.

  41. Imwe bantu. What do you expect from the Government run propaganda newspaper. They are good at twisting sentences and adding a lot of ‘meanings to words’. Do not take them seriously as we will know who the better “chosen” man will be.

  42. A big crack in PF/UPND PACT.
    (1)Hichilema and Sata at loggerheads
(2)HH for 2011 president campaign badges on sale
(3)I’ll contest 2011 polls, vows Sata
(4)I’ll contest 2011 polls, vows HH
Sata/HH tell us your roadmap towards this animal (PF/UPND PACT).

  43. From the other window,…n any endeavour there are risks, some may be calculated and some may go with the wind, HH might just swim through to the bunks and Sata for whatever reason might just accept it and close up shop….watch this space.

  44. Off course no doubt, HH is the best candidate for 2011 among the three. I wont talk about the rest because they are non issue. But considering winning zambian elections, that is another political equation. RB won 2008 elections though he was not the best if not the worst. As a strategy to stop chiluba’s third term, lets support whoever will be adopted as a candidate to lead the pact for 2011. Both SATA and HH need each other. I believe both parties are comprised of intelligent people and CANNOT support a candidate of the other party blindly. Fellow ,Zambian lets unite for one purpose.

  45. HH, I do agree with you to some extent. One point I would like to put forward though is that if the Pact breaks up, MMD will definitely go through in 2011. This is not a guess, it is a statement of fact. The effect this will have is that both PF and UPND will eject both you and Mr Sata from your respective positions and parties. Looking at your age and Mr Sata’s age, it is imperative that you negotiate the Pact presidency on a give and take basis. It will be more honourable for you to be president of the Pact, but it will be extremely suicide for you to leave the Pact if Sata is chosen as Pact president. As of now Sata has a larger following than you and he is also more hard-hitting than you. He can handle MMD insults better. Everyone has his own time and your will definitely come…

  46. Whoever will lose in the PF/UPND PACT,will go it alone, this is a stand alone situation. No matter how much you will want the PF/UPND PACT to be together.

    Opposite poles attract each other.
    Same poles repeal

PF and UPND attracted each other as OPPOSITE POLES.
Now PF and UPND have the same POLES,they have started REPEALING.

  47. # 40 it is just the way it is. Bemba is a dominant language in Zambia, Period. Just as English is a dominant language in the world. You can moan and groan about it but tough my man it is what it is. Life is not fair. Even where you are in Europe a black man has to work twice as much to make it as compared to a white man. Bembas are not better than any tribe they are just dominant. You ask me why he went into the PACT and i will tell you the same way the conservatives formed a coalition with the liberals

  48. Senior Citizen says:
    May 24, 2010 at 8:46 am

Zambia’s future does not rest on unpatriotic tribalists daily threatening the country of making it ungovernable. If you want to make it ungovernable why should citizens risk their treasured country with you?

    SENILE CITIZEN.
Please show some newspaper stories from the last 30 days where you claim that the PACT is saying make Zambia ungovernable daily?
Your dreams belong to you and nobody else.
    Stop lying.

Could you also stop insulting when you claim to be so morally correct.
You SIN daily yet use God as a weapon of choice.

  49. Move around some more HH, you seem to be gaining some confidence at last to speak up against the Snake. We thought you had given up. I will remind Chizhyuka to keep the pressure in case you slaken again….

  50. #54 Why is this issue of tribal is coming up.For your own information ENGLISH is NOT the most spoken language in the world.Ask me then i will explain.

  51. Very dissappointing indeed.
I wish Hichilema can slow down and look at the bigger picture. Assuming he was to allow Sata stand, then he can have a chance to be vice president which he will never be in his life time if he stands alone Under his party. Actually he should be alive to the fact that if they lose this time aroung SATA inclusive then their party must remove them. They cant keep on loosing 4-5 times. Please Hichelema reconcil with SATA on this issue otherwise the sympathisers will change change mind at the rate things are unfolding. Sort out this issue once and for all. You cant all stand.

  52. #58
The issue is not HH,but SATA is the first one to start annoucing that he is standing in 2011.SATA/HH were suppose to issue a joint statement on the roadmap of the PACT.

  53. FELLO BLOGGERS, can someone please tell me why HH was refering to RB as having a small brain???
and today he is saying all this ,HH ???????????

  54. # 54 English is the most dominant language in the world, you can tell me that Chinese is the most spoken language but where else can you use it but in China. Even the Chinese themselves are now learning English despite them having the most spoken language. Please dont confuse most spoken language and Dorminant language

  55. thats the problem, pride…i can imagine if it was sata who said that, today upnd members and tongas at large wud have started making plan b. hh is not ready he just exercised his childish ways. why come out so strong like that. let him not jeopardise the pact…he is bcoming 2 excited 2 soon…mpmbo wibilima ababilima tabaya.we want the pact to take over not this nonsense learn the wisdom of the old man sata not that am supporting him. its only logical that sata behaved the way hh behaved yesterday coz him alone can defeat both of them (hh and rb)next yr. remember there was only 35000 votes difference btween him and rb and now rb has even bcome more unpopular. let this young go ahead if he wants and stand on upnd and will recieve votes from southen and sata will sweep the rest.

  56. The bomb is slowly ticking to explosion. These guys have really taken their time to tell their electorate who they supposed to vote for, of course its evident that it’s not everyone in the PACT that would accept Sata for presidency and vise-versa? Really, what is the difference with Milupi’s formation of the ADD? If people think Milupi’s timing is bad, then PF and UPND are even worse, cause they will be putting RB back into office if they don’t work there way through this together. ADD wouldn’t be such a bad backup plan if the PACT fails…………God bless Zambia

  57. Have you noticed the Presidential portrait here? Even putting on a hat like I do will fit. Forward Zambia!
    Goodluck, Nigeria.

  58. HH ‘s excitement has come from David Cameron’s victory and Obama’s presidency, but does he know how far back those guys have been in the background? Obama has been in politics for atleast 15 years while our HH is barely 5 years in the game. HH just step aside , be a VP for atleast 5 years, prove yourself then make a move, believe me you will get the presidency. Chances are Sata wont even last 5 years,

  60. #64 ,am horny how much do u charge for yo “short time” services?walikwata chisaasa mumusana te?

  61. Bembas are tribalists. They can not accept that HH is the best. If he was a Bemba ayi everyone would be saying yes he is the best. Grow up you guys.

  62. #68
    No VP in the PACT

    president(Sata/HH)

    Prime Minister(HH/SATA,Dr.Guy Scott)

Secretary General of the party (Dr.Guy Scott/Winter Kabimba)

Different ideologies will cost the PACT to non existance.

  63. #58, what is wrong to declare that he is standing? Sata has been saying so and there is nothing wrong. Is it because its HH thats why its wrong? Let refocus our strategies in fighting MMD and liberate Zambians from poverty.

  64. Ninshi mwebantu simunvela???

Integration is all about working together for a common goal whilst conducting indivudual business. HH and MCS are both welcome to stand. Once they achieve their goal, then we can turn to our usual critical selves and devour them for not having a workable pact. For now lets watch them excecute their plan.:-w:-w:-w

  65. No VP in the PACT

    president(Sata/HH)

    Prime Minister(HH/SATA,Dr.Guy Scott)

Secretary General of the party (Dr.Guy Scott/Winter Kabimba)
How about GIVEN LUBINDA,JEAN KAPATA,MUMBI PHIRI?
The list is endless, scrabble for positions.
Different ideologies will cost the PACT to non existance.

  66. Comparatively, in terms of posture, articulation of issues, analysis of situations (political, social and economical) from a bigger picture I can give HH a benefit of doubt and his qualification for Presidency of this land. Of course, as human he may not be a puritan. But he holds briliant credentials far above the sitting President. Man you deserve my vote.

  67. #75
Whoever will lose in the PF/UPND PACT,will go it alone, this is a stand alone situation. No matter how much you will want the PF/UPND PACT to be together.
Losing is a bitter pill to swallo.
SATA will remain with PF and HH will remain with UPND.

  68. Let us not forget MMD has not yet had its convention, there is a split looming too many disgruntled members already have their daggers out for RB, MMD may not come out as strong as everyone thinks

  69. #61 ibange libi…I think you have your facts twisted. Bemba is the most spoken language in Zambia just like Chinese. I agree with you that English is the most dorminant language in the world coz of USA and UK’s influence on world affairs. The same can not be said about Bemba in Zambia. While the bembas seem to the loudest in Zambian politics, they do not control the zambian political or economic landscape. If it was the case, Sata or kapwepwe would have been presidents and Luapula and Northern would have been the ‘must live’ in provinces. Do your research my bro.

Coming to the topic at hand, can you put across tangible points as to why Sata is suitable. To say he can handle the MMD insults better is shallow. Can he handle the economy better???? thats the question?

  70. You people out they(voters) you have a unite of purpose, but you are been betrayed by SATA / HH.
These guys will never work together,forget.Period….

  71. :”UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema yesterday declared himself the most suitable candidate for the 2011 presidential election on account of his younger age and modern leadership posture.” I think he is right. At his age the excitement of winning or losing can not send him to unexpected death. With these old madalas we are likely to go in a by-elections a day after announcing the winner.Citizen chiefs even a Iron there is a limit on how far you can recycle.some of of our politicians in zambia have completed their potential human cycle. There are like snakes whose Head is already dead but the body still have some movement. The trueth is they are seriously dead. Zambia you have a choice, either dead or Alive . as for me and my family I have choosen life.

  72. The story has been carried by the Times of Zambia to mislead us. who said Sata was leader of the Pact when you say they havent elected a leader? Either way MMD has to go!Viva Pact

  73. At least the pact is exhibiting some democratic characteristics offering its followers a chance to debate and decide who they want to lead them. One thing for sure is that which ever of the two is selected there will be people who will be hate and some will even leave the pact. But all that is healthy for democracy. Only selfish and narrow minded people expect to have everyone supporting them and never to be challenged. GO pact HH or Sata. who ever is chosen. Go MMD, Magande RB or Mpombo whoever is chosen?????. Go democracy go.

  74. # 80 If you speak Bemba you are most likely going to be heard by masses in Zambia than when you do other languages. Bembas are the loudest but that does not mean they are the best. About Kapwepwe being a president if you recall the happenings of the UNIP conference of 1978 then you will know why Kapwepwe was never a president

  75. There is wisdom in maturity.

HH is a good candidate but i would not call him the best, just yet!

  76. and for your own information, when I was in a medical school we were told to advise Old people who have already been visited by a WARNING STROKE to stay out of “excitement of any kind”. Don’t say you were not WARNED.

  77. THE BEGINNING OF THE END FOR THE PACT: WE ARE JUST WAITING FOR THE CONFIRMATION OF THE DIVORCE!!!

‘Patriotic Front (PF) president Michael Sata says Zambians should understand that the PF and UPND are different parties with just a working relationship. Sata was quoted by a local radio, HOT FM, saying that he has no problem with UPND president Hakainde Hichilema declaring himself the best candidate for 2011.He said as leader of the other party, Hichilema is at libertyto camapign for himself. Sata said it is good that Hichilema has declared himself now instead of doing so at the last minutte. Sata said that he has no quarel with that but wondered if that is the reality on the ground.’

  78. IBANGE LIBI: there is no split looming in MMD. they have already decided on their candidate for 2011. the convention will be to endorse and elect a new NEC thats all. RB is the man for 2011. He is already campaigning as confirmed by Katele

  79. Patriotic Front (PF) president Michael Sata says Zambians should understand that the PF and UPND are DIFFERENT parties with JUST a working relationship. Sata was quoted by a local radio, HOT FM

  80. Bemba’s are tribalists!! When Sata declared his intetions no one objected but now it is HH’s turn u are here and there making alot of noise, grow up guys. The pact is a combination of the two Sata and HH, meaning anyone can lead the pact notwithstanding his tribe or where he comes from. So principled people shall vote for any of the two to kick out the incompitent MMD from power VIVA HH, VIVA pact!!!

  81. # 89 watch the space. you think Mangani is a happy chappie? how about magande, Kavindele, mpombo, VJ, the list is endless.

  82. It’s too early to pick a presidential candidate for the PF-UPND pact, Sata.Zambians are still waiting for this to come to reality or it was just another way of SATA fooling us.

Come out smart and tell us the truth. The moment you park company with HH no VOTE for you.You have waited our time.

  83. Ibange mudala all those people can be as unhappy as they like they will not be able to dislodge an incumbent President with all the arms of the government system in his hands. All those you mention have no power base within MMD. Besides the true blue MMd led by FTJ/Katele are behind RB as they have secured a deal with him knowing this is his last term of office anyway. The clever ones are not in a hurry. They will let RB go for it win it and then retire early and hand over to a true blue MMD Veep. So thats why Katele advised the pmobos and others take bola panshi and wait. The real strategist in all this is katele and mabenga. The others are all fake chaps

  84. It is my very sincere prayer that the Pact holds. I shudder to think of being under MMD Govt for solid 5 years after 2011. God forbid!

  85. #85 ibange libi….I now like the line of thought you have taken. That was exactly my point from the start. If you are talking about language popularity, thats a FACT, bemba is in at least 3 pronvices. If you are talking about dominance at national level, its a fallacy and a delusion at best.

Away from languages and tribes, who do you think is better suited to be the Zambiain economy chief manager? Sata or HH? Would be glad it hear your reason for your choice.

  86. #94 Captain Solo…your analysis of the MMD situation is corect and thats the tragedy for Zambia. RB on one hand and Sata on the other. After RB, back to ‘true blue’ MMD and we all know what that means…God help us!

  87. People this story is from Times. Ask yourself just how they would get HH’s comment against old people including RB. Most likely this is a well calculated story (tilted to break the PACT). We know what Times and Daily are bent on.
    God bless you all.

  88. # 95 the PACT will hold we have no choice but the PACT. mediocre leadership has cost this country, soon Zimbabwe will have a solid economy than us just because we believe in deals. our mothers carry buckets when going to deliver because our govt cant fix incinerators in hospitals. Potholes are the order of the day because leaders fly and not drive. Our leaders have become tourists in other countries, every other day they fly out either for pleasure, ichimpwena, or hospitalisation. Lekeni Sata ateke, twachula muno. VIVA the PACT

  89. # 96 my answer would be HH but Zambia does not have a policy oriented electorate. We go with the hype. The Hype as it stands is on Sata. He is the loudest, has proven record and appeals to the masses. He is a kaponya and almost all youths are kaponya’s and tamangas. If Zambia was another country we should have embraced Prof Chirwa, but we are so kaponyas even a bus conductor appealed to us. HH needs to come into the fray but not as the main man, after he has been mentored plus his articulated style he will make a brilliant president in 2016

  90. On “… Mr Hichilema, at 48, argued that he was the best candidate to take over Government next year… He said he had travelled to the US at the invitation of the government of that country to learn about international security, which was important to Zambia” president and 2011 presidential candidate HH is really the best candidate to take over GRZ since the US government also saw it fit to invite him to discuss about international security where President RB Banda was supposed to be if he was considered as a useful person by the US government presided by Mr President Barrack Obama.

I just wonder why the US government did not invite Mr PF/Sata MC and Mr President RB Banda. I hope it was not because both may be untrainable in new contemporary tactics.

    B blest o.
    _
    Matt…

  91. Its time Zambia moved and yes joined the modern world, why do you think we cannot even computerise our borders, governments organs. Its the mentality of experienced freedom fighters, etc. I am tired of the soooooooo called old guard. How can we have same people seating parliaments for the past 40 yrs and yet we think of development. We did with FTJ, can do it again with HH. And the tribalist-mongers on this blog are hypocrites, when Sata addresses them ONLY in bemba, its fine.We all know sata does well in bemba speakings area, isn’t that tribal? Zambia does not need experience, well see what it has done to us, poor with all the copper under our feet. Zambia need educated, young, business-oriented, modern leadership, I challenge all parties to equal HH on their candidates and pack the oldies.

  92. Ba Mwinemushi I salute your maturity. All are tribal. Those accusing HH and UPND of being tribal are like a kettle calling the pot black. Some bloggers would change instantly if a live debate was organised for the three leaders to battle it out. We know how Sata conducts himself. Ask SADC women committee that visited him at his office and how he treated them. I bet they will never visit Sata again. It appears tribalism has blinded many bloggers into thinking Sata has the best qualities that Zambia need. Recently, Sata showed did not behave as a true leader when he picked up a quarrel with a women who called during a radio show. You chaps from abroad don’t get to hear and see things happen, hence your blind following. Live debate is what we should demand. MUVI TV should help on this

  93. he truly is the right candidate if i was pa zed i would have voted for him=d>=d>=d>=d>=d>great move

  94. What is needed in Zambia is for the old chaps to hand over power to young people that is what is going on in most countries though i have noticed that most people in Zambia don’t seem to understand this, i’m Zambian born but i’m holding a very high elected office in England i’m sure my friens who live here know who is writing this. Some farmer last nite wrote that we will be chased from here but i wish he could understand our status here, none of the ministers you have there can match the office that i’m holding at the moment that is well Zambians are doing out here.God bless Zambia.

  95. #108 You have a point. Some People want to make SATA an hero. This will drive us back in the days of KK.”Kumulu Lesa, panshi ni KK”Dictators are not born, but made.

  96. How come no one has called people with opposing views ‘dull’. Are we departing from our stapple?

  97. #108 The so called “young people” are either not ready or are immature. Look at the these young people, they can not market themselves meaningfully; they do not have that political flair to whip up emotions of voters. Look at how Obama accounted himself during the campaigns. Similarly Cameron (Pwele) was a star to watch. By contrast look at the Zambian so called young people! They all lack leadership qualities and are more or less chancers.

Among Sata, HH and Banda I find Sata to be more ready to lead than the other two.

  98. #111 What is the solution, we all know that problem? Most parties in Zambia hardly has proper youth structures, but what is the solution? It startes in 2011, if young people do well in such elections, more young people will find interest in politcs. You are right Obama accounted himself well, but where did it start? His party gave an opportunity and the whole US bought into his new approach. The same goes for Zambia, UPND have given HH the opportunity. What can Sata offer that MMD can’t? You seem to stick on the notion that Sata is what Zambia needs, he was the 2nd most powerful man in Zambia. Why would expect change from Sata? If the US with all their wealth, power, relationships to worry about, would put these in the hands of a young Kenyan American, why can’t Zambia do the same?

  99. no.59

you are right. HH and SATA must issue a joint statement to assure us that they will accept the outcome of the selection process when one of them is picked by the pact. They need each other.

  100. HH is a great guy but needs more time. We need more young politicians to come out in the open otherwise the older generation will keep ruling Zambia.

  101. For HH’s declaration to be HEADLINE in the Times of MMD must make him realise that MMD is excited about that. It’s like having their prayer answered coz they have been praying for the crumble of the PACT. The PACT’s success depends on HH’s humbling himself to to be number 2 next year otherwise he will continue to get the bronze medal. Lining up of 300 witness in case of the petition is good news because by the time the case is over it will be 2016!

  102. People should not hide in maturity, your worries are just that you cannot allow a Tonga to rule. We know that. Who cannot see through your thinking? If you think Pact is to make SATA win the you are far from real things. We need fresh blood and not dying and contaminated one. HH for Zambia, no one matches him. MMD wants him to form a PACT with.

  103. Senior Citizen

in my opinion I think this guy is a danger to the nation ,this guy as long he is given a job by MMD he can even wholesale his own mother, father and relative.Plaese note I’m not talking from without I have really done my home work on this chap; actually he used to work for a certain public company before he was given Ka job in america,he even sold those who were capable of doing the job that side in america. At one time he even wanted to kill his own wife for support PF,but remember one you will be nowhere ask Mangani.DO NOT BE CHEATED THIS GUY IS NOT EVEN EDUCATED okay he is DONE a bit of ka first degree apart from that nothing.

  104. Yes!youth and young taking responsibility. If not HH then somebody younger and straight thinking fade ub of geriatrics messing us up.

  105. #115
    No VP in the PACT
    president
    Prime Minister
    Secretary General of the party
Who told you that it is automatic that if it happen that comes to the helm will make HH the PRIME MINISTER.

  106. Open Letter to Sata and HH

    Dear Sirs,
Hope this electronic letter finds you well. We Pact members are very well, too. Sirs, there have been grave concerns in some concerned quarters of our society over the stability of the Pact. This concern has been excerbated by most separate recent prouncements by both of you that both of you will stand in 2011. As you are both aware, the Zambian Constitution does not allow two presidential candidates to stand on one party/Pact ticket. Your pronouncements have caused political shock waves in the nation, particularly more so among PF/UPND supporters. Could both of you urgently hold a joint press conference and give position on the Pact. Failure to do so may bring unnecessary anxiety and speculation among members and this can drive members away

  107. In politics, dribbling is the order of the day.SATA/HH do not trust each other.Sata will be more confortable to appoint key positions to PF members, equally HH might do the same. These are facts, look at Zimbabwe Govt and Kenya Govt.Similar problems will come up in the PF/UPND PACT.
You should have an eagles’s eye on what is happening on the polictic front.

  108. Just what MMD wants! Since when did Times of Zambia publish a headline story that did not mean to serve their interest? What they want is a split between Sata and HH! So they have started the story so that you lot can start the whose who, tribe and the lot! They are not confortable with the Pact!

  109. On some blogger’s HH cant win alone… let UPND and its visionary leader HH leave Mr PF/MC Sata to be PACT presidential ndidate now due to age…Then HH will will lead Zambia in 2016.when u analyse last bye election results its logical that Sata should stand on the PACT. Sata got 38.13% and HH got 19.7% the mighty UPND Group mustnt be fooled by Mr PF’s suppoters or Mr Sata MC himself that past results matter since only fresh elections will give us a 2011 PF-UPND PACT presidential candidate when he will be elected as such at some expected convention.

I would also like to remind those that have a short memory that Hilary Clinton who was a favourite on past glroy failed to win the Democrats Nominee for presidential candidate to now US President Barrack Obama, then a newcomer.

  110. #120
This is what i said #59,we share similar concerns.Sata/HH come back to the drawing board and issue a joint statement.

  111. Zambia are really partial in our dealing. When SATA said am standing, it was not an issues and many supported the pronouncements but when HH says am the most suitable then there is a problem in the pact. Is there any logic in this?

  112. #123
Sata without the PACT will never win the elections.HH is a political heavy weight. If anything has be marketed because of the PF/UPND PACT.

  113. Open Letter to Sata and HH
As a follow up on my eletronic letter on #120, please Mr Sata and HH take note that if you decide to break the Pact apart, both of you must resign so that other Zambians with interest of the nation at heart can take over and put the Pact back in place.

  114. SATA did not consult HH on 2011 elections pronoucements he(SATA) has been making.
HH well done to also to annouce that you are the best. This has sent shock waves to SATA in his blood stream.Another sleepless night for the old man(SATA)

  115. //34 it is misleading to say Sata is more popular than HH. Of course, he was more popular then not now. I can bet you come 2011 the result will be different from the 2008 results. HH is a major threat to RB locally and internationally given his energy levels, intellect, financial position and prompensity to deliver. It will be suicide for Zambia to replace RB with Sata. By the way, who said Zesco load shedding should extend to State House or that State House is a cardiac and BP clinic to receive energy low Presidents? Ba Sata wants State House at all costs that is why he has never allowed RB time to work but push him into a defence corner from word go and some Zambians support this kind of politicking sucrificing the young economy.

  116. If some people think HH can give it free to have Sata become President, then u are yet to have a shock of ur day. I thought anyone among the two can become a republican President without objections but from the comments I have seen some people jst wanted the Southern, Western and North western vote through UPND for their tribesman to become President. I therefore wish to say that IF THIS IS THE CASE LET HH, do it by himself or else we will jst vote for the reamping MMD!!

  117. Sata is just obssessed proving FTJ wrong by choosing Levy (RIP) for the MMD candidate sometime back. There is nothing new from PF, and they make a good opposition party. I read Sata insulting FTJ and all the like, but these guys were so close that Sata used to undermine Levy despite Levy being senior to him.It was the tribal connection that Sata used to position himself above everyone in MMD. He is a hard worker, don’t get me wrong, Zambia needs someone smarter than working hard, a cool mind not bruising attitude, a young mind, investor-friendly, etc. Are you telling 45 yrs of educating zambians, the nation has to continue being led by freedom fighters. Some say Sata is practical, yes he is, but is that enough. At district or provincial level that makes sense not national.

  118. Sata’s response to HH’s declaration:

Patriotic Front (PF) president Michael Sata says Zambians should understand that the PF and UPND are different parties with just a working relationship.

Sata was quoted by a local radio, HOT FM, saying that he has no problem with UPND president Hakainde Hichilema declaring himself the best candidate for 2011.

He said as leader of the other party, Hichilema is at libertyto camapign for himself.

Sata said it is good that Hichilema has declared himself now instead of doing so at the last minutte.

Sata said that he has no quarel with that but wondered if that is the reality on the ground.

He was reacting to a news article published in the Times of Zambia on Monday where Hichilema is quoted saying he is the better candidate for 2011.

  119. “Sata said that he has no quarel with that but wondered if that is the reality on the ground”.

Now are these the words that can be exchanged between two people working together. What is very interesting is the tone with which comrade Sata from the liberation struggle (although he was on the other side wiping us), can utilise when an opponent of the calibre of Hakainde challenges him. I tend to believe Chiluba when he told us that Sata cries when challenged. He has for many weeks declared his candidacy, never have we heard HH belittle Sata’s declaration in the manner that Sata has done to his colleague. Sata thought he had the presidency in the bag, I wonder what the Americans told Hakainde, he has come back with a vengeance, watch out Cobra, you are about to be terminated for good.

  120. #132
Before(Zambia) most positions were held by experiates, after we had University graduates KK said i feel we can rule Zambia.Key positions were taken up by Zambian.
Zambians you still want to go back to the 1970’s by ushearing in the GRADE 4 as PRESIDENT OF ZAMBIA.
    Most adverts i see
    Ask for:
    (1) Grade 12 certificate
    (2) Diploma in ……..
    (3) Degree
    (4) Experience in the similar field.
Sata only has experience no qualification, automatically if i was employing i CAN NOT even call SATA for interviews. If lam telling lie let anyone challenge me.

  121. Iwe Maestro, can you listen to a piece of advice? Your copy & paste thing puts off a number of people. Try to post without it. You’ll be surprised we might just get your messages better – because we may actually read them.

  122. So the strategy iz working; to confuze the enemy. While others panic about who will stand, the PACT soldierz on.

  123. #132 Miyoba…you are value for money. I have read all your posts above and they make sense. People need to remember that with a blunt axe, you need to work hard but with a sharp one, you are efficient.

I do have some hope people will see sense. I have always said that why cant we be looking at the young and exposed turks, the Magandes, Masebos, Mutatis, Fundangas, Chipimos, Mwansas? To be considering Sata for president is a joke of the highest order.

Of the top 3 contenders, HH makes sense any day!

  124. You people from Human Resource(HR)/Personnel,why do you always ask for qualifications when you put up adverts. for employment?
The reason is simple to get the best for the job.So HH is the best as far the PF/UPND PACT.
Degree holders get this vacant job in 2011.
    RB Degree holder you qualify
    Milupi Degree holder you qualify
    HH Degree holder you qualify
    the list is endless
Sata you do not qualify,we can not even call you for interviews, sorry, try to be the HEADMAN.

  125. Why is former POLICE CONTABLE(SATA),trying to be GRZ NUMBER ONE.Given chance he will come and settle politic scores at the expense of development. The 90 days he always talk about will be for settling politic scores.

  126. WHY should it be HH to give in for the sake of removing MMD from power???? Its not the removal of MMD from power that should interest anyone, its development for Zambia!

One Albert Einstein once said ‘You can not solve problems by thinking the same way you did when you created them’ Similary, you cant solve a country’s problems by electing the same leaders who created them. Sata was FTJ’s top gun when MMD messed up, how can he be the solution?

If not HH, then RB is better than Sata

  127. If not HH, then RB is better than Sata.My memory is still fresh PANGAS IN CHAWAMA BYE ELECTIONS.Sata was the man at the centre stage.Sata will massacre us all .Actions speaks louder than words.

  128. Its okay for HH to have a “dream” but the political reality is that he may find it extremely difficult to win the elections mainly because of the tribal landscape. The question that needs an answer is whether the 43% of the Zambian population(Bemba & its affiliate tribes) can let him have a free ride to State house. Assuming he goes into the election on his own, his parliamentary seats may even shrink further because the fight will be so abrasive this time round. The only way for him to see the inside of Government is to have a working relationship with the MMD similar to the one which UNIP has with MMD.

  129. #142 peter mulenga…..we are on the same page mwana! Sata for prez? someone must be joking somewhere. I remember how he once said UNZA was useless coz its graduates cant even manufacture a tooth pick! :d:d:d

5 more years of RB is better than 10 yrs of Sata!…..HH better start talking to Milupi and Chipimo and us from the ‘Legacy’:d:d

  130. #143
Me have phobia for “PANGAS”.You want Sata to do it on me like in CHAWAMA BYE ELECTIONS.Sata was the man at the centre stage

  131. Sata insulted us i mean the (province).I can not give him my precious VOTE,worse still our TRADITIONAL LEADERS(CHIEFS).Let him reap his arrongance.

  132. Behold the mathematical analysis bellow(note: in block letters means leading the party/pact)
    HH < RUPIA
    SATA < RUPIA
    HH + sata RUPIA

  133. Interestingly, the Dingiswayo Banda story clears indicates that there were exams at Standard 4 level which one had to pass in order to advance in school issues. This entails that Mr unelected PF leader MC Sata failed to pass the Standard 4 exams and thus the brother is an illiterate — a thing that flows in tune with Mr former President FJT Chiluba’s press conference where Mr Chiluba (Hon Doc) told the Nation all the deficiences of Mr Sata in written English that caused discontent among MMD NEC members who wanted to see Mr Sata MC replaced from being MMD then National Secretary.

In light of this, there is no way I will support an illiterate to become Zambian President and so it is either the PF-UPND PACT endorses president and 2011 UPND presidential candidate as 2011 UPND-PF PACT…

  134. Imwe bafituli singing ati bemba songs who told you that sata is bemba ? Sata is a bisa from northern province just like Chiluba is lunda from luapula, get your facts straight.

  135. 135 peter mulenga greetings. Following your “Zambians you still want to go back to the 1970’s by ushearing in the GRADE 4 as PRESIDENT OF ZAMBIA” I was prompted to write my just above posting and the data below.

In light of this, there is no way I will support an illiterate to become Zambian President and so it is either the PF-UPND PACT endorses president and 2011 UPND presidential candidate as 2011 UPND-PF PACT presidential candidate or there will be no PACT or I will personally decampaign the PACT across the country.

There is no way, Standard 4 or equivalently Grade 6 School exams failures can now be rewarded for being dull in school with the Presidency of Zambia.

    Have a blessed day all.
    _
Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God ad His righteousness…

  136. Me have phobia for “PANGAS”.in CHAWAMA BYE ELECTIONS.Sata was the man at the centre stage.
Sata the way he ends up friendship is very bad

    (1)Chiluba versus Sata
    (2) Sata versus Sikwiba Sikota
    (3)SATA versus HH

  137. We are so quick to want Zambia to follow the trend of young leaders but seriously how many young leaders are there in the world? If i am not mistaken i think its about 3. So 3 out of over 150 countries in the world and you want to claim its a world trend to have young leaders. Has anyone even bothered to check out how the so called young leaders came into power? lets not just be copy cats lets be real. HH has never held a political office before, the man is not yet ready. give him 5 more years and the guy will be. We gambled with Chiluba lets not do it again with HH

  138. #149 and #151
You have really cheered me up.We are on the same wavelength.Iam so sudden by the so called “educated” who still want to support SATA.

  139. On another note, it appears the US Government after considering International security and the need to have a coherent leadership, which is better than that of Zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe who is an influential character that Mr PF/Sata MC likes and copies even to an extent of naming his political party PF after ZANU-PF of Zimbabwe, decided to call president and 2011 presidential candidate to warn him about letting Mr unelected PF leader to become 2011 PACT presidential candidate.

Therefore the Standard 4 or equivalently Grade 6 School exams failure must take heed that UPND visionary president will not put the world and Zambian security at risk by supporting him for Zambian President.

    Have a blessed day all.
    _
Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God ad His righteousness

  140. Yes HH is the right candindate though we dodn’t know what the old man will say becuase he also wants to.Nevertheless,i see a problem here.Thats why may be we should go for CM – ADD with new part.

  141. peter mulenga I will do my best for Zambia(ns) by making sure that Mr PF/Sata MC does not become Zambian President evenif that means letting President RB Banda or any other MMD sponsored person forms GRZ Administration beyond 2011.

On your “Me have phobia for “PANGAS”.in CHAWAMA BYE ELECTIONS.Sata was the man at the centre stage… Sata the way he ends up friendship is very bad” national, regional and international security is at stake and I believe US President Barrack Obama had to intervene in the PF-UPND PACT in order to see to it that the world is peaceful and hence the invitation to the UPND president to participate in security and governance lectures in US for 18 days.

    Have a blessed day all.
    _
Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God ad His…

  142. Sata is sleeply, everyone knows that politically,Sata will remain alone with the”nashalaneka” party(NOAH) or rather PF(Pabwato). The BOAT is rust and people are now fearing to jump on.

  143. #159
Please educate other people about the sata’s character and angry for POWER.I have been following statements from SATA,it really puts me off, someone aspiring for the biggest job in the land(ZAMBIA)

  144. # 159 you still have colonial mentallity what makes you think Obama has a solution for Zambia? Obama has failed to resolve the Afghan conflict, iraq issue, Iran even the north Korea. yet you find him capable of solving the Zambia issue. Zambia has the capacity to solve its own problems we dont need Obama or China for that matter. and thats the point Sata has been driving home, we dont neeed chinese welders, or Indian boiler makers.

  145. Sata…Mr.Jack of all trades and master of none.No qualification “baSATA”.The pride and the i know it all mentality. That is a sign of dullness.Allow other peoples views.Even me i do not know everything.

  146. I will, ba fikala just come back to the corrupt RB you know . . .we have a golden opportunity to split them hard . . . its like two mahule. . . .we shall intensify the divide & divide ….fimofimo

  147. But Tongas are childish and selfish see how they behaved after the death of Mazoka that is the problem I can see already

  148. #162 ibange libi….I wish I knew your credentials and social orientation maybe that would help me understand your approach to things. Do you honestly think Sata has capacity to understand today’s complex world at presidential level? Whats the point of having a prez who thinks he can lower taxes and at the same time give free services? 90 days miracles? I think your support for Sata is not based on his suposed ability to deliver….just tell us the real reasons. Zambia would rapidly become the current Zimbambwe!

  149. Fwebabemba twalichilamo ubututu. We cant just accept that HH is the best. Give him credit. Being old in years doesnt make Sata the best candidate and the worst tribalist are as bembas. Lets accept defeat this time and look at the best interest of our beloved country. HH does it for me and am positive to all of you LT bloggers.

  150. # 167 my approach is simple. i believe in Zambia and Zambians. There is nothing we cant do. we have no excuse of being a poor country when we have what it takes to be well off. I dont believe in the sale of Zamtel to foreigners, employing Chinese labourers, giving away mines to Indians, Sata believes so too. If we have oil reserves what are waiting for? The INDENI refinery needs modification to refine Angolan oil what are we waiting for? These are the things Sata talks about. You dont need to be a rocket scientist to run Zambia. just make everything work accordingly and we will be back to free education and health care. Sata delivered before and i think he can do it again

  151. #170 ibange libi….You need to know that being a foreman and being a manager two two different things. Sata has in the past made a good foreman. But he does not have what it takes to be a manager. In this and age, you need a president who will instill confidence and freedom of expression to all, a president who will easily understand the nitty grities of the economy. Botwasna did not become a middle income country by having semi-know hows for the higher office. Sata is convinced you can change an economy in 90 DAYS!

By the way, If he knew all that he says these days, was his not Chiluba’s right hand man? Why did Chiluba bypass him for LPM? What about the Chawama issues??? Talk is cheap my brother…If I say I will buy you a plane, I need to have the capacity to do it!

  152. Ba HH ba mudaala, I hope that with your trip to the USA we shall see less foul coming out your mouth. By the way, before you start imagining yourself as president because of your age, I suggest that you read the biographies of those selfless young world leaders that you have mentioned. I am sure that you can learn something from their civility, humility, integrity, and dignity, and not just looking at their ages.

  153. Who ever becomes president it does not matter. whether HH or Sata I vote for them. What I want is MMD out and the PACT in.

  154. when a young man wants to stand his traibal….why because his Tonga……………only tongas are tribal…ala chiluba apponted over 23 Ministers and deputy ministers no one said a word. Most Parastals were headed by these guys from the north and luapula there was no say of tribalism. So Go HH GO GO Chipimo Go Go Milupi Go we dont what old cabbages ala …we are tired…grand parents ata from 64 to date why should we be ruled by old chaps they were in cabinet and positions since 64 whats wrong with our generation…..lets move on let our generation also rul the country eh….talema . Thats why even in offices ma grand parents still want to hold on …..when r we going to get their positions ….talema.

  155. HH is right to declare his intentions. Even yourself an do that should you want to. There’s is no problem in that and who said HH should not have intentions anyway. He’s got a right just like Sata has and can declare his intentions just like any body else. A right leader not between the two but the 13.3million Zambians will be found when the time is right

  156. Dogma don’t be an intellectual destitute. The would-be voters for HH if he stands and Sata doesn’t, are the same people that support Sata now. So don’t insult them in your bigotry for HH, by insulting Sata, otherwise they will end up voting for the MMD. If you are a Sata supporter respect the HH supporters to win their hearts if HH doesn’t stand, and you don’t do that by Insulting HH, Mazoka, or his tribes men, be wise.

  157. Ba Political Black belt ni chani who said we need Satas supports all we need is ADD , Southern , Western and North western will be HH we also get Central ur supporter SATA wont sweet in Lusaka any more we are recruiting young people we aim at getting over 300,000 young people in Lusaka …..make sure we add to the other nuber SATA , Banda we dont like u ……usually those who support SATA its r suporting the lunatic on tribal lines. I never insulted anyone in my submission above read and tell me the insult.

  158. #172
Iam Bemba and i have expressed my opinion.Because l have expressed my feelings towards HH does not change me to be Tonga, okay.

  159. Everybody either in the pact or otherwise now needs to fall behind HH. He is on the right footing with right connections. See he is recognized and given invitations by the greatest nation in the land, what more do you ask for. Now tell us about the connections for your favourtite man Sata-Taiwan(laughable), who if elected and as a result of leadership pressuer, god forbid, dies from heart complications and leaves us with a hand picked vice president from another farm, taking us steps way backwards. We all need to start supporting this young man belonging to the worldwide emerging crop of new leaders. The real tribalists are those who are anti-HHand pro-Sata. Be objective

  160. Just like what happened in 2001 when I was in K. Square, I voted for Mazoka, before the counting finished and Mazoka was leading, we started celebrating then the Tonga guys came and took over the whole place shouting Tonga bull, kuyumayuma and you couldn’t talk to them if you weren’t Tonga. From that I realized how the victory was not much our victory but a Tonga Vs Zambia victory. I thank God it wasn’t to be. And if thats the attitude you show now you should know that in last elections Sata lost by a count of on constituency and there was low voter turn out in urban areas thanks to MMD and VJ. Now for all the foolish people (in you eyes) who voted for Sata to vote for HH you have to appeal to their hearts.

  161. #172Shi Bwalya
I might be of the same tribe with you,but do not think i will support you in totality based on tribal lines. It is ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION.Exhibit maturity and respect other peoples views.

  162. I find it very strange 4 someone to tell me they support SATA , please tell me let me understand what SATA brings to the Table Vaonger language….high level of immaturity even when his found to be poligormous no one talks , his children are countless. A stolen passport which never happened ..what is happening tell me convince me with SATAs programs so i can change my mind. Otherwise i will decampain him big time.

  163. So mange ma kamba ati tule teka!!!!!…………..whats wrong with that ? Just because ba tonga were jubillant nishi they committed a crime . Problem yanu there is nothing that can came from another tribe that is good koma yanu…..ba koswe…….

  164. No no no Dogma, what Im trying to say is; you can’t say things like ‘only a Tonga can lead UPND’ or ‘Sata is foolish vote for my candidate’ and still expect people to vote for your candidate. Sure HH is the best candidate and he has been for a long time now, and he knows it. Don’t you wonder why he doesn’t win. Hes young, he has not become young now he has always been. The problem is bigots like you are busy decampaigning him with your attitude. Im not a Sata supporter. I make up my mind when voting after having listened to all of them. But I must vote for whats good for Zambia, that I will assure you.

  165. Don’t you wonder how Bemba speaking people in Copper-belt, Northern, Luapula voted for Mazoka in 2001. So how did they do that if they were tribal, Im not saying Bembas are not tribal. So how did Mazoka manage to win their hearts? Where is HH going wrong? Its the same party remember. The thing is Mazoka was a great man, he opened his arms for all people of Zambia, thats how I ended up voting for him.

  166. You are a big lier Mr polit. black belt . You are the worst tribalist as exhibited on this blog. It`s convenient for people like you and your likes that no other person other than a bemba should rule this country . Do`nt you bembas say -kalo kesu. You think you can fool everybody. Sata compains in bemba even when he is outside bembaland `cos he doesn`t care and his tribal inclination is of no secrecy. Through your propaganda, you have stereotyped the tongas as tribalsits. Infact you stereotype everybody but your selves. How about Lozis , don’t` you call them tribalists. You used to say about Mazoka that teti tuleke umutonga ateke ichalo chesu. You and your like need to readjust your mind frame, otherwise at the rate we are going no one will be a winner, and the whole nation will loose

  167. Political Black Belt…..i never said a tonga should ever lead what i despise is coz HH is tonga then there is a problem of tribe. I dont agree most people vote on tribal lines no one talks shit! we all swred in some way but we pretend to say only so called Tonga are tribal. If HH was Bemba o Lozi his part would be dominant where he comes from so,,,,,,,,,,,this unfortunetl is reality.

So would u rather vote SATA or HH …o we go HH , Chipmo Jr and Milupi…..for me i am for the young people . Mr SATA MR Banda have outlived there periods of leading us. we tired of them….unless we focus please and try people of our generation am not even that old as them but thats the way forward. we need young blood. Our grand parents can go to rest….

  168. So now we can vindicate Milupi who you called all sorts of names last week when he told u SATA an HH will not agree on the Presidency………..neze kuzani leave Milupi alone let him also get a share of votes which ever part of the country esp western province so banda loses. then let him and HH take over the country.Let the incorparate the young man Chipimo Jr i like him

  169. The fact is if HH does not stand in 2011 that will be the end of UPND and if Sata does not stand that will be the end of PF. UNIP did not field a presidential candidate in 1996 and that was basically the end of UNIP

  170. There`s a reason why Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe or Harry Mwanga Nkumbula never tested the presidency.Zambians are unforgiving towards anybody that assumes leadership on tribal grounds.Ackson Sejani and Siyacheyu Mandyenkuku declared that UPND could ONLY be led by a Tonga and hence their support for HH.Anderson Mazoka`s right hand man,Sakwiba Sikota was sidelined from taking over the reigns of UPND because he wasn`t Tonga. In a nutshell,as long as UPND floats a Tonga for president,it will continue being an opposition party. These are facts that need to be faced by any pragmatic individual.

  171. Old people have outlived thier usefulness. They belong to the political establishment and are insiders. They are great manipulators for political expediency being career politicians. Abash Old guards! Viva new blood! Viva HH. As for Elias and Milupi, I have a suspicion your are plants, but if you`r not, let`s see your sincererity by you talking to HH

  172. #193 Sakwiba was a weak leader or otherwise how did he lose to HH at the convention with such a wide margin. If HH did not stand Sakwiba was going to lose to Patrick Chisanga. Sakwiba can not even campaign. Look at how much work Richard Kapita has done in nort western province as upnd vice president. in politics you have to hang your jacket and go out and campaign, meet the people. This is what sakwiba and sichinga failed to do as vice presidents to mazoka. sakwiba had even failed to manage his ulp

  173. #195
Sakwiba lost to HH based on financial disparity and being a non tonga.I think his effort in helping form UPND and tirelessly putting it on the map together with Mazoka should have been rewarded. There was a reason Mazoka was groaming him for the top slot.Otherwise, since HH took over UPND,the party lost it`s status as the main opposition party.

  174. Ba Chapi # 193, what`s your point? Are you supporting sata the gonna. This man`s health is questionable to outlast his presidential term if at all he became president.sata is the worst tribalist.By the way he is MMD wearing the coat inside out. He is just a bellingerent lunatic, who would take us the zimbabwe way.Remember chawama, where were you? in your mother`s womb. Your`e right,he is closer to the late kapwepwe with regards to tribalism for those who dare recal history. You have no pragmatic facts in your comments ,only naivety and bigotry

  175. Let all of them Stand, By the way I wud prefer RB to Sata.. but this time I know HH stands a far better chance to reclaim LPM’s central and Lusaka province Rural Votes.

  176. #197 Pointman
Sata is a tired and recycled politician just like your boss RB.What Zambia needs is a serious alternative to your flawed MMD party.

  177. 😕 Mmmmmmm HH na Sata mulesetinga fwe ba pa Zambeziland te?
(The pact has something up its sleeve!) Keep watching!:-?:-w

  178. In 2006 & 2008 PF bloggers were saying HH is not ready for leadership, he is still young, immature & needs to learn more about politics and his time will come in 2011. This time round you want to change the post to 2016. If by any chance Sata is voted in as president come 2016 you will change the story again! You can fool some people sometimes but you can’t fool all the people all the time.

  179. Age is just a number; these guys, Obama et al., were not elected based on age but on substance. Even if Obama was 75 years at the time he would still have triumphed. Remember our good old man Nelson Mandela? What we need in Zambia is a patriotic, visionary, empathetic and action-orientated leader and not simply young. Bear in mind leaders come in all ages, sizes and colors but ofcourse not as RB!

  180. chapi # 199, I wonder where you gleaned the idea from that I was stamping for the caveman, ever falling and failing RB. You need to pay a little more attention next time.Attention is important it improves your comprehension and in turn your GPA. However, amongst all the potential candidates, HH beast them hands down. He has the credentias. He has also worked for an international firm on the top hierarch, therfore he has inernational and wolrdwide view of world affairs. he has held many top positions in variuos reputable organizations. He is well connected, remember, he just came from US where he was invited by the government. You can not be recognized in vain from this end, Because of the afforesaid reasons I fall behind this man, not on tribal grounds or blind loyalty like others do.

  181. Zambia:
Yes, you are right we need a leader who is patriotic, visionary, empathetic and action-orientated. HH has all these qualities and on top of that he is young and more suited to adopt to the current environment. He will be in tune with global trends of electing young leaders.Remember when America coughs everybody catches a cold, soon all major democracies will be replacing their aging leaders. Why should we continue with stone age politicians? No wonder we are backwards.

  182. I don’t think people care very much about age as Mr. HH is boasting about. It is not all about age but about popularity. We cannot compare UK, USA and Russia to Zambia. As #202 above have pointed out there are old people who are visionaries. Infact the qualification of a leader iaccording to the word of God is not young age but visionary.

  183. Ama politics yapa Zambia, nifyofine kulatekwa nakufipuba. 95% of the cabinet is supposed to be cleaning toilets at Kamwala.

  184. Age matters because whoever we elect as president will have to interract with other world leaders. How do you expect a granny like Sata to negotiate a good deail from the likes of Cameron, Obama or Mendelev when he regards them is under fivies?

  185. Keep on dreaming UPND and PF supporters.MMD will surely bounce back so love it or hate it,the pact was your only chance so keep on arguing between who is young like Obama and who is old like Kadafi while lupiya and don chichi are working out a strategy how to further disorient the opposition more.RB for 2011 bebele.:-?

  186. There is nothing strange in what these guys are doing.infact theyb are just trying to be open and realistic.Remember what happen during the 2008 USA presidential election that led OBAMA into the white house. Before the facing John Macain he had to first contest with Mrs Clinton which he won. Hillary accepted the defeat and decided to move foward and rally behind the Mr Obama. This is the kind on plan which should simulate the PACT if the really need victory over the ruling party. But there is abolutely nothing wrong with what these guys are doing the only problem is that us people do not understand exactly what they mean when they say whatever they say.But just be ready to support any of the 2 leaders in order to secure victory otherwise this amy cost the PACT alot.thank you all!:-w

  187. Lets now analyse together on age guyz.If zedians are take age as a barometer for suitability of a presidential candidate then many young leaders who contested before would have won or would have atleadd been close to winning.Remember what happened to Dr.Nevers Mumba. He joined politics as ayoung energetic and well organised candidate. But what happened later?Politics is about selling your vision is both local and internationally. Its not about being over zealous and confident.Especially in zambia you really need to be popular.i think the only way that can make these guyz succeed to keep on telling us the plan they have unlike talking about how old,coz what about political experience?developmental plans for the countr?

  188. Of course it would be great to have a Zambian president who would ooze confidence, make us proud on the international stage and challenge the intellectual centre of Zambia if one does indeed exist. I doubt the current leadership provides this neither do I think any of Pact leaders provide this in full. More realistically I think the Pact leaders have taken the Zambian public for a ride and fuelled the expectation that they would in fact work together. Clearly this is not going to be the case and as a result both their prospects now look bleak. Therefore I think those who truly love our great country need to find a way of engaging with the MMD in a more positive sense. This is however unlikley given the manner in which the tabloid press has shepherded the the existing level of debate….

  189. HH is simply selling his strong points so their is nothing wrong with what he said. Sata should do the same(infact he has been doing it already). At the moment there is no way of determining who is more popular. Their popularity can not be judged from past results or the region they come from as is being assumed by some bloggers. Politics is dynamic, you can be popular today and unpopular the next day. It depends on how you sell your self and what comes out of your mouth. So let the contest begin! It the end of it all the pact will choose the most suitable candidate.

  190. HH’s declaration has sent shivers into the ‘heart chambers” of tribalists and ola age supportes”MMD”. Alot of you seem to have no sense of analysis or ability read between the lines. This declaration comes with blessings from the cobra himself. Infact Sata has long accepted to stay in the background. The top pact officials already know their president. So you MMD losers must swallow the bitter pill and start preparing your “nests”. Come 2011 you will for sure be out of Govt houses. HH – 2011. No two ways abt that.

  191. “I hope you have been following elections in Great Britain. Who is Prime minister? David Cameron. How old is David Cameron? 43 years? How can someone say that at 47 years I am a young man? Let me give you a sample of world leaders: Barack Obama 48 years old. Russia President Dmitry Medvedev, 44 years. Nick Clegg, by the way there is a pact in the UK now. Nick Clegg from the Liberal Democrats how old is he? 42 years old. You look around. President Ian Khama in Botswana. President Jakaya Kikwete in Tanzania. The world has changed,” said Hichilema said. “I also want to say to you the importance of UK elections shows that if the Liberal Democrats can work with the Conservatives. Who is questioning our pact here with PF? We can properly work together. UPND and PF can work together for…

  192. That is what HH said when addressing a horde of cadres that welcomed him at the airport. Hichilema said it was not correct to argue that he was young to become President of Zambia for that reason.

  193. LT is in the pocket of MMD. read Post and see that LT is insinuating that HH is against Sata. not true

  194. After reading the post , one can clearly see how HH was misquoted by our very own LT or is Times of Zambia. HH clearly states that the PACT is well and alive and emphasises that it will work. Now i believe when bloggers claim LT is pro MMD. Ba LT just be fair in your reporting leave speculation or side politics to the bloggers

  195. hey guys you have really contributed the THREE OF YOU 221 postings and all what i hear is Blah blah blah. Get a wash up. Surely HH shud be humble enough to let old cobra lead then he takes over from there. If he is dribled on the way(his fear), well zambians are watching.

  196. i have to read this same story in independent newspapers like the post for me to buy it..i dont think thats what he said…dont be excited about it

  197. PF will field a candidate for the Luena bye-election despite being unpopular in the area. Mrs Wina the PF Chairman Last Saturday issued a strong report at the Party Meeting on Luanshya Road saying that PF was more popular than UPND. Meanwhile Hachilema is sure of UPND winning the seat if it fielded a candidate. If PF goes ahead and field a candidate and then lose that will be the end of the Pact. At the same meeting Mr. Sata fired the Copper Belt and Luapula Province Chairmen saying they had failed to organise the party. True or false? Watch this space….

  198. #224. You will need JESUS to directly talk to you for you to believe the gospel.
HH has not refuted what times of zambia wrote on his declaration as best candidate. He was quoted word by word. I do agree with him that he is the best candidate.
SATA must give us a break and go to chitulika village his resting place with his 90days dreams which dont make sense, Only a fool can believe that nosense.

  199. #172 u are a big tribalist. what is wrong in identifying HH as the best candidate. You think u can hide in that my dear u are a let down to Zambia and human race. Just look at urself. Shameless tribalist.

  200. You people, who complained when SATA said no one would stop him to get to state house? What sin has HH committed by declaring that he was suitable. People in PF think that UPND is sleep. Be careful. Think u will use UPND for ur quest of leading Zambia then ur dream will not work.

  201. So even f.o.o.l.s like # 172 manage to cross Zambia’s borders. What a shame. Live up ***** and open your eyes and see.
HH -2011 whether Tonga or not he is simply the Best among the current crop of politicians.

  202. Age does not matter,at this stage we need to choose HH a s our next presido for 2011.If you look at age then you are saying RB li shilu?

  203. I have now believed my intinct that this Pact is worse than when these people where individuals

  204. To re-iterate the point Guy Scott made: “There is nothing wrong with either HH or Sata declaring themselves as the best Presidential candidate”. However the most important point that both candidates need to remember is that UNITED they stand and DIVIDED they fall. Neither PF nor UPND is a strong position to defeat the MMD alone. Therefore the PACT is needed if we have to have a new govt in 2011. For either SATA or HH it is better to serve as Vice President than nothing after next yr.

  205. The PACT is MMD’s fodder. They can’t sleep or eat becoz of the PACT. They have been hallucinating ever since. Look, marriages that are prophesied to be doomed are the ones that last a life time. Likewise, from the onset the PACT has continuously been under assort; the MMD have been fabricating stories and twisting their tongues on how the PACT will crumble. To date the PACT is still running strong and the clock is ticking. It should surely be very frustrating for these MMD guys that this time around they have failed in their ill-motive to quash the PACT. Can’t you people live with people working together in harmony? All you believe in is hacking each other. RB own up!

  206. This is really a hot issues no wonder it has received the most comments. HH you are really popular and u must go for it. Zambia is behind you all the way. Only tribalists who were against Mazoka due to his tribe and only appreciated him after his death. Zambians need better treatment and not tribalists.

  207. #31 I am working on your proposal and I hope MUVU TV. I have spoken to someone and they will be getting back with me in a minute. You also in Zed together with Maestro need to petition the companies of such. this is healthy for them too. I wish I had known HH was in USA I could have got the juice out him to feed the monster of Senoir whom only comments when the Pact.
Tribalism or whatever you may call it no problem the best candidate will be voted in. U do not even give credit to his comments on MAlupi. Well said HH. This bugger Malupi is a failure and he knows he is paid so he can split the votes. Zedian sort him him out.

  208. Sata made a very bad mistake to go into PACT with UPND I can see in this provincial part there alot of childsh chaps like Maestro Hhehhehhehhe self boasting of their Matero degrees. Who doesnt know how many time Sata has been invited by US gvt.

  209. Zambians will need much more than a you person ruling them. What is more important is now for HH to put forward a proper manifesto. He should be wary of the fact that the countries he is referring to have come through a full cycle in democracy (atleast long enough +_300 years) so extrapolation of this kind may not work. Issues of development are the core business of all Zambians.

  210. Mr Hichilema, you are right in your observations. But it will take more than just that statement to wrest power from the MMD. What keeps MMD in power is the illiteracy and information-starved rural populations. Ironically it is this same demographic that is worst hit by the insane policies or lack thereof of the MMD government. Your great failure is in allowing yourself to be dragged into the low-brow politics of personal insults. Your challenge is this: (i) how to get the electorate in the rural areas to vote wisely despite their gullibility that stems from luck of information and education ? (ii) how to outwit the MMD’s usual corruption tactics ?

  211. Nshilimubemba: Please let DR. Mumba stay in Canada. He could be worse than some of these guys around.
HH: His declaration not withstanding, I find it strange that he appears to think age should be the factor in electing him. What is disappointing and frustrating about HH is that despite his claim to modernity, he has miserably FAILED to affect the political debate. Worse, he has failed to state what it is he will do that will move Zambia forward, different from what we have now. He has been sucked in the name calling and unimaginative daily commentary on who is foolish and who is a twit etc. If HH had appeared on the political scene on another party other than UPND, he would have long disappeared. Coming back to the age factor, well, Cameroon maybe 44 years old, but he had/has a message.

  212. Cameroon never touted his age, it was his message, his vision for the UK. Obama (48) ; need I say anything? Yes He did! Medvedev (45); HH should know better than to claim that Medvedev was elected for his age. The Kremlin machine chose medvedev. Kikwete (50); again HH should attempt to understand the internal workings of CCM to see how Jk ascended to its presidency and subsequently to republican presidency.Tanzanians voted for CCM, not Kikwete, more like Zambian voted for UPND in Solwezi Central and Mufumbwe. In short, age is very rarely a factor in world politics. It is more the political architecture and the message or dominance (for better or worse) that has a determining role.

  213. So in conclusion, if HH wants to cling to age as a tactor to be elected, he should be saying ” I am the youngest candidate”, and just hang for that long enough until Elias Chipimo jr, who is younger than he is, declares his candidacy. Then the entire lunacy of his premise would have been exposed.

  214. All well meaning zambians know that HH is the best person for the country, not just his age but intellectually as well. We need to bear in mind that these freedom fighters will do their best to stick to power even when they have nothing to offer on the table, and thats the truth about southern Africa or African countries in general. It’s us young people who are most affected by poverty and we really need to wake up, our wives have to buy gloves, razor blades etc when they want to give birth, what a shameful thing. These are the same people who have failed us before what new miracles can they bring now. I love Sata to continue his checks and balances for the ruling party, though he dissappointed me on his alleged stolen passport and his bad language on Voice of America. HH for 2011.

  215. Inge:

Can you please read yesterday’s post newspaper to enable you understand exactly what HH said. He has never asked people to vote for him because of his age. He was responding to people(among them Sata and RB) who are claiming that he is too young to be president by pointing out that other countries have younger leaders. comments #219 & #220 above have extracts of what HH said as quoted by the post newspaper.

  216. Fine HH is not the best because of his age but his intelligence and intellectual ability. We really need a role model as youths in zambia and HH is the answer. The man rose from nowhere to become a somebody silently just because of hard work. Anyone who will tell me anything bad about HH I would say I wish you approached me sometime before I came to know him as a president of UPND. I really like this man for our nation in 2011, and I do not care where he comes from. I am really sure under this man zambia can enjoy tribal balancing because he has tried as a leader to join and make pacts with leaders of different tribal groupings such as UDA and PF unlike under Mazoka UPND wanted to go alone. He listens to people and he is more democratic, than any other party leader.

  217. # 30-Yaya
Just as much as you are entitled to your opinion, its unfair to call someone a thug when you have no evidence. Its also an open secret that what happened in Mufumbwe was as a result of what the MMD did earlier……thus a reaction from the UPND. Dont be onesided, be patriotic and honest and lets use language which you yourself would what someone to use on you, Dont be Unzambian, PEACE.

  218. We really need to burry our small diferencies and choose the best for our mother Zambia. Our families are suffering back home there is no medicine in hospitals, roads are so bad hence we need the intelligence of HH, professor Clive Chirwa, Chisanga, Bob Sichinga, Milupi, Sikota, Nkandu Luo, Sylvia Masebo, Edith Nawakwi and others to join hands in developing our nation. We need to put zambia first before tribe because tribal issues will not bring medicine in hospitals, in short we need the collective effort of all zambians to move forward. We cannot solve problems by using the same formulas which failed in the past. These politicians who have been their for decades and have failed to deliver should be removed, we do not need experience of poverty but food, good roads, and medicinein hos

  219. Some people say HH cannot be president of Zambia because he is young, honestly the same Banda goes to USA, Russia, UK and others let by young ones, kneeling to ask for money and admiring their hard work, when he reaches our zambian airport he starts cursing our zambian youths that they are too young to govern our nation. What a shame on this man and his selfish motives. Wake up guys these people are taking us for granted. A young president Paul Kagame of Luanda is building a big city in Africa which will be more that Chicago, when our old man Banda is relaxing in state house and holidying outside Zambia every now and then

  220. Chansa:

You are spot on. We need a generation change in Zambia. It’s time for the old guards to step aside and let new leaders take Zambia forward. We are tired of seeing the same faces being recycled. No wonder we are still stuck in the old UNIP ways of doing politics. HH is the right man of the three leading contenders to bring in the necessary changes. Let us put tribal considerations aside and move Zambia forward

  221. Chansa says:
    May 26, 2010 at 2:10 pm
Fine HH is not the best because of his age but his intelligence and intellectual ability.

This is my POINT. Has HH applied his “intelligence and intellectual ability” yet to explain to the Zambians in this way:
    1. What are the issues that Zambia is facing that he would seek to address if he became President?
    2. How would he go about doing that and what would be his priority?

Respectfully, this question is more than “intelligence and intellectual ability’, because I am sure chances are there are other Zambians more “intelligent” and with “superior intellectual ability”.

My other point was that HH has FAILED to have impact, i.e. to change the political conversation.

  222. This is what is frustrating to me because I had held high hopes in his candidacy. I really wish he could introduce something of a game changer in our political theater, otherwise we can indeed get rid of the old timers, but we need more than that. We need new ways of doing things, new thinking. I am very frustrated right now because we have NO VIABLE choice in ALL that are lined up to be candidates in 2011. Ultimately, people get the leaders that they deserve, and here i say May God have mercy on Zambia.

  223. Inge:

The reason why HH changed his political language is because the majority of Zambians like it that way. The majority of Zambians don’t like issue based politics and that is the reason why they are attracted to the Sata way of talking. To increase his popularity and capture headline news HH had to adapt to the current political game. I am sure if there was a presidential debate forum similar to the election debates in the USA and UK, HH will be tops. He is used to articulating issues in board rooms and he would give a clear vision of how they intend to move the country forward. It’s up to us Zambians to demand for such debates. To begin with we should encourage Sata and HH to have a live TV debate and allow Pact members to choose who will lead the pact

  224. I think think guys’ candidacy is the best among the current crop is recycled politicians. I can see Zambia making a break from the rule of our freedom fighters who basically just replaced colonial masters and were lean in creativity. Young people in Zambia should support this guy.

  225. Zambians should learn to vote for a candidate based on what they promise to do for the country. I would vote for anyone who declares that medical trips by the govt to South Africa are finished. And puts the money to purchase medications, pay our local health workers better salaries. HH needs to make that statement if at all he wishes to capture the peoples votes. We spend millions of dollars in South Africa as a country

  226. I would vote for anyone who in the least shows me a plan of action on Eradicating poverty in Zambia( , fighting Aids and homelessness, implementing a new Educational policy and increasing funds for that, cutting up unnecessary government branches and restructuring our government, a new health care system and how s/he will promote trade.
So far, all i hear are personal and no bread and butter debates. Why don’t our journalists ask these questions? Look at the post Newspaper today, they are so trivial and so are the politicians

  227. ZedPatriot I hear your 261 posting and thanks for your views. I agree with you, HH decided to swim with the people. But therein lies that problem; HH should be providing leadership, and not to be swayed by the people. I believe that if he could stick to the core messages of what he wants for Zambians and remain focussed and not be distracted, he would change the political conversation. This is a mind set thing which would take some real hard work to re-condition. Let the dog wag the tail and not the other way round!

  228. Zedian: I am sorry I missed your 249 posting. I not only read the POST, but had also spoke to one member of NEC (UPND) who was rubbing his hands in glee when he came back from Lusaka Airport at what he thought was an excellent speech by HH. Like I said, I would want to see HH succeed but he should not presume on anyone’s votes, save for those that choose to be uncritical. This is why I am arguing that if HH hopes to be an agent of change that Zambia needs, he MUST act like change himself. Otherwise we would end up with more of the same, only its younger. It is not enough to say that he is comfortable in board meetings. Well, he is currently wishing to chair the Zambia Plc board and in my view, he is not inspiring at all. This is a different ball game and I wish him well.

  229. Inge:
I think you do not understand life in full. What we mean here is truck record of a person, HH has a good record in terms of interllectual ability as evidenced from all the successess he scored as a board chairman in those companies he led. In life you need to exhibit intelligence and management ability at a lower level before you get to the top. We need someone with a good record at this moment and HH is the answer. Those who still doubt HH’s intelligence and intellectual ability should try to get closer to him and learn his winning ways instead of blogging from hear say. I also use to doubt this man but the moment I took a step to get to learn his record I believed in him. Let us remove our selfish motives zambians, we are squating here because our economy is poorly…

  230. Hi, Please Zambians may you work up and stand for areal change. Why are you after recycled leaders? If you want a real change, HH is the answer for you. concerned zambian
