South Africa dashed Zambia’s dreams of a second successive qualification spot to the CHAN after drawing 1-1 in Lusaka today.
The visitors were the better side in this second round, return leg match that Zambia needed to win by 2-0 but instead were bundled out 2-1 on aggregate by colorful South Africa who dominated their hosts at Nkoloma stadium.
It was a difficult call for fans in Lusaka today who had to choose between going to the PF/UPND Pact rally at the Freedom Statue or taking the risk of watching Zambia.
For those that opted to stand in the snaking and endless queues to get into a packed Nkoloma to watch Zambia take on archrivals South Africa, were left kicking themselves and very disappointed and surely wished instead that they should have picked politics on their weekend social menu.
George Lwandamina and the state of Zambian football were the main topics the fans grumbled about as they trooped out of Nkoloma.
“That is why he (Lwandamina) failed at Warriors,” said one fan referring to Lwandamina’s recent brief and forgettable coaching spell at Kabwe Warriors.
“Lwandamina is not material to coach Zambia,” said another.
“This is why I don’t watch Zambian football, watching rubbish like that,” another fan said.
“Fi Zambian football, awe mwe…” said another fan.
We were told by those in the know who travelled to watch the first leg at Hunters Field outside Johannesburg that South Africa were poor second in a match the hosts won 1-0.
After watching today’s match, I beg to disagree as South Africa, led by their inspirational captain and playmaker Lefa Tsutsulupa, out-thought Lwandamina’s basic and predictable side who barely managed to frighten their guests or string three passes together.
Meanwhile, South Africa were rewarded for their commanding display with a 37th minute goal from midfielder Sifiso Myeni who unleashed an unstopped shot from outside the box that was too hot to handle for Zambian goalkeeper Jacob Banda to see the visitors take a very deserved 1-0 lead into halftime.
Zambia were rewarded with a late goal after another erratic display of huff and puff football in the 81st minute when Kennedy Mudenda finished off a one-two move with Jimmy Chisenga in front of goal.
Let us try Boxing and maybe High jump! maybe soccer is not for us-
zambia is rubbish
Two games onne goal and out of CHAN…..not much to say although it was expected.
Zambians are jokers in every sector because the political division has affected or infitrated every sector of Zambian society. There are good Zambians who can uplift the zambian society in every sector but they are always sidelined for reasons always known to themselves hence what is happening every where. Its very sad indeed!
This is good news! Hats off to South Africa for for putting us solidly where we belong….. mediocre sports team(s). Did you see how grounded their coach has been? Next time people will think twice about insulting decent coaches who come out here to try and improve/ develop the sorry state of our soccer. But I very much doubt this ever happening.
Just like the rest of zambia mediocore!
From the start I have been saying that Chicken George Luandamina cant be a coach he has got no ideas of his own even Wawa chongo can do better than Chicken.
where the hell is simataa or whatever his name is. i am sure he can pitch in and do a better job. isn’t this what he has been crying for? give the man the opportunity to prove himself!!!
What One wonders about, and wants answers to is who funded the fruitless trip to Chile. What sense would command such stupidity to spend, one wonders how much, including “allowances” for “technical advisers” and such. Why didnt Chile make the trip?
And so, why continue to spend on losing ventures? for thats the rot our “game” has dwindled to.
Thats a lesson again. South Africa was underated. Lwandamina and Msiska may offer nothing new to the team. Football is developing let him go for refresher courses abroad and learn new tactics. :d
That minister who killed the innocent boy must have unleashed that shot on Lwandamina,i am tired of drinking panadol after every 90minutes,,,,,,,,,,
No. 11 i do agree with you and i also call upon that minister Mulenga to shoot that coach and the entire FAZ chaps .
All i arge you my fellow countrymen is that we should never loose hope at all cost,lets continue fighting for our country and stop an accusing finger to each other,we can still come up with so many logistics in order to improve our team together with the coaching staff.Let us once more look back where we came from in this soccer senarior,we can still ask ourselves how players were poached,for instance late Johns Chilenge one of the so vigorous defenders Zambia has ever had,a man from the rural,all what matters is to anquint the player to current standard in big teams with a hope of sealing the Zambian defence one day.Please try other ideas and see how best they can do other than talking of same things every day.Its so irritating if you didn’t know.
Lwandamina has failed.
For Zambia to lose to a team that is not even SA’s reserve side is disheartening.
Employ a serious coach asap.
There is no time for on-job-training.
The South African local league ended a long time ago. Thats the league where 100% of the team was picked. Our league is peaking here. So very confusing for them to lose.
Atase Zambian Soccer, it behaves like NyamaSoya, just when you thing he will do the right thing, thats when he unleashes a stink bomb to choke the whole country dizzy. Atase. Pa Zed, a country full of comedy of errors.
Tulamyeba ati Zambia tapaba amacoach tamufwayo kumfwa. For now we still need expatriate coaches.
#15 Perhaps even an expatriate President!
Slowly am getting convinced that Boxing is becoming our national sport… Growing up my friends and I would try and emulate great kalu after watching a Zambia victory by dribling each other or crossing the balls into the net, I wonder what the kids of today will be doing to each other to emulate Esther Phiri 😕
Let us try isolo or akabwambe….bola yena we have failed.:)>-
:)):)):(|):(|)8-}:)]:)]:-??=))=)):o):o)%-(%-( bye bye…**==**==**==
~~~~~~~~~`EVERYONE READ THIS~~~~~VERY INFORMATIVE.
YABA ZED TWALIBELELA. BRING AN INTERNATIONAL COACH ZAMBIANS THOSE PEOPLE ARE NOT COMING TO STEAL YOUR MONEY BUT TO DEVELOP YOU. OF COURSE THEY DEMAND SO MUCH BUT THATS WHAT YOU DESERVE IF LWANDAMINA IS NOT WORTH FOR THE JOB. FAZ AS WELL SHOULD BE MORE SUPPORTIVE TO FOREIGNERS TO WELCOME MORE DON’T JUST PUT A BLAME FOR STUPIDNESS.
……and Renard’s boys, Angola, have qualified for CHAN or is it CAF, whatever you call it. FAZ is joke!
:-t
:(( Awe sure tulifikolopo! Balesa nifinshi twamilufyana kanshi?….. Naba Zimbabwe twalesaka batuchila nomba. Brazil soccer team, imagine,….batupita pamona from Harare over our air space to Tanzania, while we claim to be one of the greatest team in southern African. 😮 and yet we are still worshiping Kalu and his FAZ.
I don’t blame Titus for taking advantage of indigenous Zedians! Tulifupuba, period
Zambia, we do not have coaches period. Now you will miss Renard. Zambians will never appreciated what is in our hands, always looking out for something different. I said here on this blog, when the whole country were screaming for Renard’s blood, he’s the best thing we had, a young and intelligent coach, who could have grown in this job and the players, I guarantee we would have become the force we once were. Zambian coaches are not exposed like other coaches who are sent to work in other leagues. George Lwandamina can’t even coach in the lowest division here in SA. Go on ruin our football, thats what we are good at …..
