Share

President Rupiah Banda has recalled Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa Leslie Mbula.

Mr Mbula has been recalled after the expiry of his contract.

Foreign Affairs Minister Kabinga Pande confirmed this in an interview with ZNBC News.

Mr Pande said it is not strange for a High Commissioner or Ambassador serving abroad to be recalled after their contracts expire.

He said that Mr Mbula has served more than the required three year contract.

  1. I will be taking Leslie Mbula’s place.

No one will prosecute me in Zambia. Bonse nibangwele

  2. Welcome back home, you have served Zambia, home and abroad.Sorry for not watching the world Cup in South Africa.

  3. Hey he is been recalled at the time the big game was also starting. Good, let him join the rest of our brothers and sisters home.

  4. Lets discontinue with the President appointing people to these positions, matter of fact let us not politicise these positions by giving the president the power to appoint people to these offices.

  5. Read the story the contract expired and here has been a reorganisation. I have been deployed to a different station and am no longer in SA anymore. No big deal and no fuss.

  6. “Mr Pande said it is not strange for a High Commissioner or Ambassador serving abroad to be recalled after their contracts expire.”

We all know that. But the fact that it is being emphasized in this statement, seems to indicate that something strange is going on.

  7. Ba Bootlicker how do you manage to move from SA to USA when the boss was recalled home?
By the way u look eastern on that photo? no malice intended.

I wouldnt mind having a welcome drink with u!!!!!

  8. He has 3 months in which to wind up, so those of you who think he will not watch the world cup are dead wrong, unless he chooses not to.

  9. People you dont get it! Les Mbula has been recalled because bwezani wants to post his close friend, I mean very close friend – partner in corruption to collect monies from Libya and China and launder it to other european countries. Wait and see who gets the diplomatic post, I am not going to pre-empty bwezani’s deed, watch what he does next, osadabwa the person will be recalled to come and be a state witness before clocking a year. These politicians dont learn that taxpayers money is blood money, you never get to spend it – ask kaKafupi.

  10. no. 4 every country in the world appoints ambassadors using the same method, the Head of Government appoints because at ambassador level you represent the whole nation and the appointing authority. you are the voice of your country in the nation you are stationed. i wonder sometimes how many of you have actually entered a classroom!!!!

  11. boring article to read about. Mbula is another opportunist and there is nothing he did to save the lives of Zambians who were brutally attacked by those thugs in RSA. Just cut the crap and give us reall articles/stories.

  12. I agree with you Jef. The man was nothing but a lame duck. Too old for anything. Can we have a young person taking over, young people are more proactive. But what can one expect from RB?

  13. # 15 Thanks, probably another hopeless bootlicker will be appointed. I expect a reasonable leader to appoint a diplomat who can tie up meaningful relationship with RSA especially that Zambia sacrificed a lot for that country. When Mandela was released from prison, he never forgot what KK did to help that country rid of its apartheid regime. So as a country we should have benefited a lot in the post apartheid era.

  14. Mbula must consider himself cursed. He is the only OLD gray haired chap to be dropped by RB. Hope its not Kafupi RB is taking to S.A as high commissioner

  15. This recall is most welcome. In fact Leslie was supposed to recall himself a long time ago coz he has served unnecessarily beyond the required time frame. This poverty mentality system of clinging to jobs by these old pipo is what is killing Zambia. Pipo shud learn the culture of saving and investing whilst working. When u are old, its time to rest.

  16. Congratulations Leslie. You have served yourself and your family well. In another life be less selfish.

  17. just reading different comments from different people, just makes u realise how malicious and ignorant zambians really are.i wonder if u guys ever go back and read what u write.rumours should be differentiated from facts.it seems everyone in zambia has the truth…………

  18. Leslie Mbula’s contract as Zambia’s Ambassador to S.A expires. Should be the title of your brief aricle.
What is this ‘recalled’ meant to indicate?

  19. LT why do you delete my blogs? It means you are very subjective and uninspiring at the same time boring. You want to print only those that suit tour taste? This is not good. You are supposed to represent all the views.Be scientific….

  20. So, Leslie, the uncle of Levy M and the father of Chembo Mbula, the First Secretary (Political and Admin.) in Zambia Embassy in Washington DC has been recalled, not fired, do I get you right, LT?

Is Chembo Mbula, Leslie’s son the one who we heard RAN AWAY from Zambia because he stole some rice or mealie meal and sought asylum somewhere in Texas? Why did the Foreign Affairs appoint someone with a criminal record? Is it because he is a family? That is CRYSTAL CLEAR NEPOTISM. Please don’t delete this comment!!!!

  21. this is a ploy to eliminate all those associated to late president Mwanawasa. May his soul rest in peace.

  22. mansich,

if this is a ploy, let all those associated to late president Mwanawasa come out and voice their side.
Chembo Mbula you have all the right to defend and explain why you ran and went to Texas.

  23. :(( Welcome Mbula; Zambians forget easily. The truth remains the same that Levy was you childhood friend and a family friend. What has that got to do with your appointment. Life is about shaking shoulders and qualifications. Banda is traveling in order to shake shoulders for opportunities. Mwanawasa and you shacked shoulders with him from time in Hilcrest Ndola, as children of Missionary services in lamba land etc. etc

Age is not a disqualification for leadership but quality leadership skills. thus include wisdom.
