Patriotic Front (PF) leader, Michael Sata has charged that the failure by the ruling Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) leadership to apprehend health Deputy Minister, Dr. Solomon Musonda after he shot a PF cadre in Serenje is enough testimony to prove that the party has no capacity to fight corruption.
Mr Sata who have persistently called for the police force and government to account for the shooting, tells Q fm in an interview that the police force is incapable of laying a figure on Dr. musonda despite what he did because he is in the MMD government.
The out-spoken PF leader said that republican President, Rupiah Banda and his government are incompetent to match up to the fight against corruption because they are too compromised.
He said it would have been easy for the MMD led government to apprehend the official, if he was from an opposition party but they could not touch him right now because he is still needed by the party.
Mr Sata also indicates that Zambians should know that the MMD government has no credibility in their words and are incapable of delivering according to it’s promise.
He has reiterated his call on the Zambia police service to arrest Dr. Musonda because he is not a free man.
The PF leader pointed out that it was unfair for other suspected criminals to be rotting in jail when some self confessed government official who almost murdered someone, is left to live in freedom.

In mature democracy as ours separation of powers and rule of law takes precedence. MMD as a political party its executive does not and cannot order the police or justice system to arrest and prosecute pipo. These are professional bodies with better understanding of cause and effects without room for judicial activism. These good professional norms are too alien to myopic dictators like Sata who declared in 2006 that he were to order the acquittal of Chiluba’s cases by decree. He said because the task force cases were Mwanawasa’s tribal war against Bembas. That is how foolish dictators are.
Sata thought his strategy of sending thugs to threaten Zambians on public facilities would not expose his hopelessness full of useless mouth diarrhea. You sent those thugs to kill Dr.Musonda and now serve that poor boy what you promised him.
Veteran/Senior Citizen
You are seriously compromised too in your wapped thinking. And who has mouth diarrhoea between you and President Sata?:d
I think veteran chipuba sana, you know that there in Zambia there is not separation of powers in practice, it only happens in theory. The executive controls everything, even a person with half a brain can see that.
Number 2 u are pure heartless and the fact that ur pussy helped u to get into usa makes u even more crap…put urself in the boy`s shoe u assO… what if he was ur brother learn to think before u post here come on,,,,,,
number 3 tell that fool,,shame shameful mind, i pray for him.
Veteran #1 and 2 u,a such a useless and worthless chap !!
Mr. Sata remember you hacked people in Chawama and was not arrested. Any compromise you are talking about was orchestrated by you. It looks awkward now that you are out. Needless to say that if Dr. Musonda did not act in self defense he needs to be arrested. Also, if Mr Musaka was the aggressor he needs to be charged. Just because he was shot does not make him innocent.
This topic is interesting. How about performing a real experiment to test the police effectiveness? All of you with licensed fire arms, fire them in the air away from humans and see what happens should they locate you. Better do it in sync on the same day and at the same time if possible. Mind you this is a practical test which must yield a realistic result. As it is right now, all we are doing is talk for the sake of it. As a society, we have to be practical on these matters if there is lack of adherence to laws.
Hi guys, Veteran has a point just like all of you guys. Tempers down, no rush. I pray the truth comes out soon. Dr.Musonda has not run away he is in Zambia and whatever the outcome the law will get to him. On the other hand the victim is recovering well. Let’s pray for him. The law is likely to visit him too. Who knows, may be the victim was sent by the same Political Leaders to provoke Musonda knowing well that he is human and capable of losing temper and shoot: we can not tell as at now. Better wait.
#10 you are right I also think Musonda was just defending himself from impoverished youths you are used to cause havoc by rich politicians.
Move around with a gun?what if everyone moves around with guns, with lil arguments people wd be shooting one another….the man shud be arrested ,he might shoot another person, you know some people with temper problems, and he is probably still moving around with the loaded gun
Thumbs up Doc Muzo, These cardres are a pain, you have insilled some fear in them. By the way next year, left every Z guy carry a gun otherwise you will be caught unawares-learn from Kenya.
This country is ours and ours alone, let us get serious when addressing some of these issues. How do you justify self defend in an instance where when one in a running Vehicle points a gun and shoots atan unarmed youth who is merely trying to show these crooked politicians their “development”.
Currently we have all recipies we civil strife, worse with the infighting in our Police Command. These are the results of a failed system.
Was he licensed to kill?
Veteran.
Even you know that if someone of importance in government makes a questionable decision or action then that person must step down on paid or unpaid leave until the issue has been resolved by court action or internal action.
Leaving someone who is a savior of life on the street with unanswered resolve is dangerous and un democratic.
In a sane country the person would want to clear their name and get on with life or work.
Not in Zambia.
Where people hide behind political weapons of the parliamentary seats.
Stop treating politicians as untouchables!
