‘ Donors are crying out too loud’ says Chifire

Share

Committee of Citizens Executive Director Gregory Chifire has charged that the donor community is crying out too loud over its demands for accountability of the resources it provides Zambia.

Mr. Chifire challenged government to come up with a donor aid exit mechanism by beginning to put in place long term plans that would help the country diversify into other modes of resource mobilization.

He said the current situation where donors are making the government feel as if it is not accountable and incapable of accounting for the little that they provide to Zambia is retrogressive.

The Executive Director said the best solution to avoid confrontations between government and the donor community is to put an end to donor dependency.

Mr. Chifire added that Zambia has the ability to stand on its own if only resources were properly utilized and directly spent for the benefit of the people.

He further stated that it does not give respect for the nation to be scandalized by the donor community.

He noted that Zambia has been begging for far too long and now is the time that government began to work towards policies that would help the nation to stand on its own.

  1. Gregory Chifire is a strange person indeed and would say anything to please his sponsors whom we all know is Rupiah Banda and his government.

Mr Chifire says in one breath that “the donor community is crying out too loud over accountability” which is expected of any begger, but the further agrees with the donor community by saying that “Zambia has the ability to stand on its own if only resources were properly utilized”.

Mr Chifire should understand that he cannot have it both ways, though the Zambian people know that his NGO is just a way of making himself rich from donor funding.

  2. Gregory Chifire, who does not know that you are on governement pay role? You just formed your Kantemba in the name of NGO to be a mouth piece of Mwadya Mweka Daddy (MMD).Any waz, its support your local team. But m’mpampamina kwati ninda pachitumbi, balashikila kumo inda ne chitimbi.

  3. For Zambia to transition from donor dependence to self dependence, it requires serious, far-sighted and visionary leaders who have a passion for the country and its people. Leaders who are able to make realistic yet radical plans for the country and are willing and committed to use the resources of the country to bring those plans to reality for the benefit of all, not ones whose chief interest is to fatten and enjoy themselves at the expense of the other citizens.
When it comes to donors, I would have thought the age of empty aggressive rhetoric went a long time ago! We need honest intelligent leaders who can diplomatically and intelligently engage the donors, even when it is felt that the donors are overstepping their bounds.

  4. With RB at the helm haa! That will be the day.Cifire too much hot air for nothing, even a grade two knows this ,that the only way your government can abuse resources without the donors crying foul is if they generated them themselves. So stop blowing hot air for nothing ,you really irritate you non value adding character.Always talking rubbish and bringing out the obvious so that people think you are very intelligent *****.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  5. Seriously with such narrow minded opportunists making noise about anything….as a nation we are doomed!!

  6. Mr. Cifire, you use one hand to clean feaces from your anus and use the same hand to put food in your mouth. There is no other way no matter who you are, queen, king, president or Kabova.

  7. This is silly talk. Can someone please ask this empty head to shut it.

RB is should realize that he’s starting a fight he can’t win.

  8. Your leader is the one that started the crying when he made that statement at the airport. If he had any problems with donors, he could have approached them using normal diplomatic channels but he chose to use the media.

  9. I can only appeal to our donors not to listen to this illiterate called Chifire yaping things he hardly understand. My heart bleeds for the millions of Zambians who can’t manage one meal a day because of criminals like Chifire who want to steal every dollar that is donated. Sorry criminal Chifire, every dollar from the donors has to be accounted for period!!!

  10. Donors behave, we shall not dance to your tune! This is New Zambia that does not belive in handouts, its high time these chaps are told the truth, no more colonialism! Behave behave …………. this is new Zambia and as such tack in your teeth period! Zambians know what we are going thru and we dont need an attack dog to inform us, ok!

  11. DEAD AID.

WOULD YOU NOT CRY IF YOUR EMPLOYEES OR CHILDREN ARE ABUSING YOUR FUNDS ?????
    GIVES us A BREAK mr……

be wise in yiour critics….. sort out your PLUNK in your eyes first so that u could see clearly on others…what shame you are…God grant you wisdom

  12. Here is a blueprint for ending dependency on donors. reintroduce windfall tax, screw the DAs and have mineral royalty tax back at 3%. To hell with the mine owners. China will still buy the copper even if they pull out. As long as we do not use the cash cow staring us right in the face, we will never get rid of donors. We do not need to go the Zimbabwe route. Rwanda has a systematic way of doing it. Lets learn from them

  13. Accountability is generally a major theme in all governance frameworks it doesn’t matter the source of funds…. period.. big man stop bucking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. Angela Cifire’s brother is an MMD sponsored fool who just talks and makes noise like Ronnie. The donors have every right to request 4 accountability of their tax payers’ money! We pay taxes here n the MMD clowns cant even account 4 it well!shame on them!Cifire go f**k yourself

  15. This fake propaganda of donors and some media houses is rubbish..! RB is fighting corruption so well so far.even those MOH embezlers ar currently in court. So wats the yaping for..! TO HELL WITH YR DONOR AID,ITS STINKING LIKE A PIT LATRINE..!

  16. Honouraly Secretary ,U dont think ,plz stop wasting our time by sending stupid comments.Be human & act has a proud Zambian.F***k u 2gether with people u r e supporting.

  17. Pardon my asking, what social or voluntary work is this NGO [committee for citizens[ involved in.

  18. Zambia cannot stand on its on with useless vision less leaders, whose job is to jump from country to country when they have policies to attend to. How can we stand when you have wrong policies in place. We can stand! yes, its possible. but we need sharp minds, we need people who know what they do and why they are doing it. foreigners import duty free, Zambians are charged. I was there, i saw it coz i was once in border to border business. How can you tell investors ten years without tax. how do you think you will raise money in next ten years. Useless policies surrounding every corner then you say we can stand. Okay, we can only when you stop foolish and unreasonable policies that you put day in day out. have a vision you leaders, see things happening beyond your generation. Watch out!!!

  19. ts hypocritical, insensitive, overjoyous and impromptly inappropriate for my government to recall all embassy staff back home after all efforts that we have thrown behind MMD. If this is the new way of entering election year then lets but-heads because I am ready to expose the grand scheme under way for MMD to scoop the election dubiously! MMD under our current hypocritical tyrants have no place in our beloved country. In a few days I will be announcing which party Im joining.

  20. Ba Chifire, please just shut up, get back to C.B.U,finish your degree and get yourself a decent job rather than bootlicking!

  21. My boy Chifire what is the problem with you? Bootliking tendency every time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
